A/N: Gosh, the internet is really annoying me. I have to re-establish the connection before every save. If you watch the national UK news, you will probably know about what's happening to TalkTalk right now. I can't really do anything about the internet because their website is down :/ But thanks for putting up with me, guys.
Thanks to sabina21 and brankel1 for their reviews as well as:
TheTombedSpirit - Haha, seems like my outrageous plotline got a review out of you! Don't worry, if you read my A/N in the first chapter, you'll see that your fears are greatly misplaced.
M . gotze - OMG, yes I love Mergana; they had so much potential that the writers just ignored. Damn. And how does someone who is so generous and selfless in season one go all the way to pure evil in the space of only two seasons? Even if she was mad at Merlin for the poisoning, why hate everyone else (besides Uther)? Arthur and Gwen loved her so much, I wish she could've seen that. And Merlin did too; it wasn't like he wanted to poison her! URGH, so frustrating! But yes, Colin Morgan and Katie McGrath are amazing!
Oh and my fave footballer is Mesut Özil. Apparently, he's entering his 'golden age' :)
hewhoreaps - Yep, Conner is as dense as ever. Hmm, maybe the doomed relationship will be over quick but there's no telling as to how long Trent will deny himself. And will Kira keep waiting for him?
Oh yeah, and there's the clone to deal with.
Kira was walking to Hayley's Cyberspace, feeling ecstatic about her news, when Trent exited the building quickly looking rather worried.
"Trent," Kira called, running up to him and grabbing his arms mid-walk. He spun her around and gave her a questioning look. "You are not going to believe this. You're going to freak."
"I'm already freaking, we're out of soy milk and Hayley is off today," Trent told her. "I gotta hit the store."
"Oh, wait, I have to tell you something," Kira said, letting go of him.
"Sorry, it's going to have to wait," the white ranger replied, wishing he had time to stay and talk but he really didn't.
"Okay, have you seen Ethan?" Kira asked.
"Not yet," Trent answered, starting to walk away.
"And Conner told me he was too busy earlier..." the purple ranger told herself.
"Later!" Trent called over his shoulder.
"Great," Kira sighed, turning around. "Who am I going to tell?"
Kim ran out of the cybercafe, almost hitting Kira.
"Kira! I'm so sorry," she apologised frantically.
"It's cool," Kira replied, remembering her news. "Oh guess wh-"
"Ugh, I'm so sorry. I'm in a total rush. I've got a doctor's appointment and I kinda lost track of time this morning..." she explained in a hurry, pulling her mobile phone out. "I've gotta call Tommy and remind him. Bye!" And with that, the yellow ranger sprinted off in the same direction as Trent did mere seconds ago.
"Right, so I guess Tommy's too busy too..." Kira figured, wondering who she was going to try and tell next.
Tommy, Conner, Hayley and Ethan were busy in the dino lab. Hayley sat at the main computer while Conner and Tommy stood next to some kind of control box. Ethan, of course, was doing something on his laptop.
Tommy was trying to fix his hair after it was fried by Hayley's new device when his mobile phone started ringing. He reluctantly let go of his hair and picked it up, seeing Kim's name on the caller ID.
"Tommy, where are you? We've gotta go to the doctor's, remember?" Kim spoke sweetly, trying not to let her impatience seep into her tone of voice.
"Uh oh," Tommy responded, knowing that Kim was probably really angry right now. "I remember, I've just got a little hair crisis right now..."
"Well?" Kim prompted.
"I'll explain later, where are you? I'll come and pick you up," he offered, pulling some black stuff out of his short charred hair.
"Outside your place."
"Hmm, okay, see you soon," he finished, putting the phone away. He looked at Hayley. "Sorry, I've gotta get to that appointment I told you about." Hayley nodded in understanding and Tommy turned his attention onto Conner. "Good luck."
"Thanks," Conner responded as the green ranger left the lab.
"Alright, you ready Conner?" Hayley asked, getting back to work.
"Yep," Conner answered, putting his hands on the controls. "Ready."
Hayley turned back to the computer and instructed him: "Try the controls."
Conner touched the controls.
"Okay," he said.
"Initiating simulation," Hayley stated as she started to type.
Red electricity started to move up Conner's hands, riveting up his body and ultimately making his hair stand on end.
"Hayley, can we stop please?" Conner pleaded weakly, realising his hair looked worse than Tommy's had. This would take a lot longer to fix since his hair was much longer and thicker than Tommy's.
Hayley turned around in her chair before gasping at the sight of him, spinning back to the computers and typing quickly.
"Shutting down."
Conner gasped as the simulation ended before hearing Kira's voice.
"Hey Conner? Are you there? It's Kira."
"Hey Kira," Hayley greeted sheepishly as the purple ranger appeared on the screen. "Unfortunately he's a little…fried right now." Hayley winced as she looked over at the poor red ranger. She turned back to Kira. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, fine, I just want to tell him that-"
"Can we call you back?" Hayley interjected. "We're working on the control program for the new assault vehicle."
"Oh, yeah, sure," Kira answered. "Uhh, what about Ethan? Is he around?"
Hayley swivelled around to look at Ethan.
"Can you tell her that unless she's getting attacked by something green and scaly, send me an e-mail?" the blue ranger requested.
"Did you hear that?" Hayley asked, turning around again.
"Yeah, I heard," Kira responded dismally.
"And Ethan's right. Unless it's an emergency, we should keep the communication frequency clear."
"Okay, I'm just…I'm sorry, I'll talk to you guys later."
Hayley turned around to look Ethan.
"What are you doing over there that's so important anyway?"
"Searching the web for my soul mate," Ethan answered excitedly.
"Dude, if you needed help with girls, you just needed to ask," Conner told him smugly.
"I'm looking for something a little bit deeper than what you're used to bro," Ethan stated.
"What?" Conner asked. "I'm pretty serious with Kira."
"Yeah, and she's not serious enough," Ethan muttered.
"What's he talking about?" Conner demanded, looking to Hayley.
"Ignore him," Hayley advised, looking at the computer. "Now, let's try that again."
Kira stared blankly at a computer screen in the cyberspace.
"Ooh, somebody looks bummed today," Cassidy's annoying voice taunted. "What's the matter? Did you find out you're not the next Hilary Duff?"
"You know what? Even you aren't going to ruin today Cassidy," Kira told the girl smugly.
"Why not?"
"Well, if I have to tell someone, it might as well be you," the purple ranger said, getting up. "I got a call from a really big music manager. He wants to sign me, and record one of my songs; do a video and every-"
"If you're done with the computer, I really need to use it!" Cassidy interrupted, completely ignoring everything the excited ranger said.
"Thanks for listening," Kira said sarcastically.
"No problem," Cassidy chirped, either not getting the sarcasm or ignoring it. "Now can you move because I have things to do and it doesn't involve a wannabe rockstar. Bye-bye." She waved Kira off and pushed past her to use the computer.
Kira just rolled her eyes and left.
"Come on, Conner, take 'em down!" Hayley cheered Conner on as he struggled with the new simulation.
"I'm trying!" Conner groaned. "No, I'm losing it!"
On the screen, the megazord exploded and the words 'simulation over' flashed at her. Hayley sat back, sighing deeply.
"Oops."
Conner removes the simulation helmet looking displeased.
"Great!" he snapped. "Game over. Again."
"Welcome to my world, dude," Ethan told him.
"At least it's only a simulation," Hayley stated, trying to cheer the red ranger up.
"The hydraulics are doing the opposite of everything I tell them to," Conner complained.
"Hey, would you guys say that I'm a) a chiseled workout fiend, b) a beefy boy-toy, c) a walking toothpick, or d) just your average, everyday dude?" Ethan asked.
"I thought you were looking for something a little deeper, Ethan," Hayley teased. Conner sniggered.
"Yeah, but to get there I've got to answer these five-hundred questions," Ethan explained, rubbing his hand. "I'm getting a hand cramp."
"Here's your chance to take a break," Hayley started. "I need you two to pick up a titanium server mechanism. I emailed the address to your organizer, Ethan. It'll be waiting for you."
"Do you think that's going to fix the problem?" Conner questioned.
"I'm hoping," Hayley answered. "Let's just get it home without Mesogog finding out what we're doing."
Kira walked under an archway and into the Tones Records building. She entered to find a room with a TV and music related instruments.
"Hello?" she called out, not seeing another living soul. "Anybody here? Hello?"
"You must be Kira," a man said, making Kira turn around to face him. "Welcome to my home." He took off his shades. "Walk with me?"
"Wait?" Kira started as she followed him. "You live here?"
"My ideas do," the man corrected. "This is my creative home. This is where I make all my stars, Kira." He led her over to a chair and had her sit in it. Kira watched as he moved behind her. "Stars like you."
"Great," Kira commented. "So what do I do?"
"Just follow my lead. If you can promise me, your loyalty, your trust; I promise you your dreams. Does that sound fair?"
"Yeah," Kira answered with a smile. "I guess it does."
"Great, then let's start," he announced before going in front of her and pulling her up on her feet. "On the way to wardrobe, we can talk about Kira Ford, who she's going to be, what she is going to represent." Kira nodded her head as she listened. "This is going to be great. Come on."
Kira stood in front of the music producer wearing an all black outfit, her hair in a Mohawk style.
"You love it?" he asked.
"Hmm... you want me to be honest?" Kira questioned, turning as he walked to her.
"Remember Kira?" he began. "Trust."
"Doesn't trust work both ways?" Kira implored uncertainly.
"Not in my world," he answered, walking around her. "Spin." Kira spun around awkwardly, making her smile. "That is perfect." Just then, his assistant walked in and handed him a disc. "Ah, excellent." He turned towards Kira and held it up. "Your new sound."
"My new sound?" Kira repeated in confusion as she inched towards his desk.
"Remixed by Kylee Style's producer," he answered her as he put the CD into a player. "And he is not easy to get." The manager sat down and hit play. Kira was disgusted as soon as the music started playing. "Oh, that is magic. That is pure magic."
"Uhh, would you mind if I went outside and made a call?" Kira asked.
"Yeah, fine," he answered, listening to the music. "Just don't be long. We've got a lot of work to do."
Kira just shook her head before walking out. She went outside and pulled out her mobile phone, dialling a number before putting it to her ear.
Conner and Ethan stumbled down the stairs, carrying whatever it was that Hayley told them to pick up when they heard a strange sound.
"Do you hear that?" Conner asked. "What is that?"
"That's my phone," Ethan answered, exasperation in his tone.
"Dude, you gotta change that ring," Conner scoffed.
They both put the box down.
"What's the matter with it?" Ethan questioned sassily.
"Are you serious?" Conner questioned.
Ethan pulled out his blue mobile phone and looked at the screen before answering it.
"Hello?" he spoke, glancing at his phone when he didn't get an answer. "Hello?"
He looked at Conner and shrugged.
"Must have hung up," the red ranger suggested.
Kira dialled Conner's number.
"Conner, pick up!" she grumbled, struggling under the weight of her outfit.
Conner and Ethan picked up the box again and carried it down the last few steps when Conner's phone started ringing.
"You gotta be kidding me," Ethan said.
"What?" Conner asked. "It's better than yours!" He stopped to find his phone while still holding the box, Ethan bracing himself against the banister to keep the box from falling.
"Hurry up," he urged. Conner failed to find his phone so he gave up.
"Oh, man," he groaned. "Come on, let's just get this thing inside."
"Okay."
"Please Kim answer?" Kira begged as she held her phone to her ear a third time.
"Miss Hart, we have the results," the doctor declared, coming into the room with a set of papers. Tommy took Kim's hand and squeezed it just as the doctor opened her mouth but she got cut off by a ringtone. "Miss Hart, one of the rules of this clinic is to have your phone off when you are in an appointment."
"Sorry, doctor," Kim mumbled, switching her phone off without looking at the caller ID.
Tommy reached for his phone and did the same.
Kira dialled Tommy and it went directly to voicemail. She then speed-dialed #3 and waited for him to pick up.
"Hello, Kira?" he said, filling her with relief.
"Thank God, you answered," Kira breathed.
"What's wrong Kira?" the white ranger asked.
"I'm at a recording studio to do a music video but the manager wants to change my music and my looks."
"Alright Kira, just breath," Trent advised in a calm, soothing voice. "I can't tell you what to do but if you want, then you can do the video and bring it back to the lab to show the others. Ask them what they think of it."
Kira sighed sadly.
"I just wanted your opinion," she told him quietly.
"I didn't know that it was so important to you," he admitted.
"Well, it is," Kira confessed softly. "It always has been."
After a short pause, Trent spoke again, "If you want my opinion then here it is: drop the guy cos if changing who you are is what it takes then it's not worth your time."
"Umm, alright, I guess I'll do the video shoot and see what the others think about it," Kira informed him.
"Good," Trent replied. "See you later."
"Yeah, see you."
Kira was about to head back inside when three young girls ran up to her.
"Excuse me, but are you a singer?" one of them asked.
"Yeah, I am," the purple ranger answered.
"What do you sing?" the same girl asked.
"Well, I'm supposed to be making an album but I don't think I'm going to anymore."
"Why not?" the girl asked. "I bet you're great."
"And I love your clothes," the second girl told her.
"You do?" Kira asked uncertainly.
"Yeah," all three answered.
"Can we have your autograph?" the third girl asked.
"You guys want my autograph?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah, I guess," Kira agreed. She smiled as the girls handed her their books.
"Let me get this straight..." Conner began, kneeling in front of the platform that Hayley's device was on. "So we just have to transfer the computer information from our testing to this, install it, and then we're ready?"
"The only problem is that it's not accepting the data dump," Hayley complained, frowning when the computer screen once again displayed the words 'DATA TRANSFER ERROR'. "I just don't understand it."
Mike, who had joined them a while ago, turned around in his chair to face her.
"Just keep trying, Hayley," he encouraged, getting up and walking over to her.
"Hey, what do you guys think of this one?" Ethan asked. "She's single, attractive both inside and out..." he slowed down, his excitement dying down. "Believes she was Cleopatra in another life and loves to paint portraits of snakes."
Ethan made a constipated face and Conner laughed.
"That makes sense, historically," Mike commented, sounding a bit uncertain.
"Sounds like a perfect match," Conner joked, making Ethan roll his eyes.
A while later, Hayley and Mike were still at the computers, Ethan was still on his laptop, Kim and Tommy were back and helping with the simulation and Conner was just walking around when Kira walked in.
"Great," Kira started, walking down the stairs. "You're all here." She then noticed Trent wasn't and amended her statement. "Almost all of you."
"Kira," Ethan breathed, getting up from his seat. "Where have you been?"
"Yeah, you should check in every once in a while," Conner agreed as he and Ethan followed her to where the adults were.
"I tried!" Kira told him, sighing and rolling her eyes. "Never mind." She stood behind Mike and Hayley, the others gathering around her. "Look, I need your opinion on something and I need you all to be honest... Hayley, can you play this?"
"Sure," Hayley responded, taking the VCD that Kira was holding out to her. She inserted it into the computer, almost jumping when the techno music came on.
In the video, Kira was dressed in an all black outfit with spiky hair and dreadlocks. There were CGI teapots floating around her and she just looked ridiculous. Conner and Ethan gaped at it and then exchanged horrified looks. Kim and Tommy stood there in shock and Hayley just looked up at an anxious Kira, Mike making a strangled sort of noise.
Musical notes started streaming out from the teapots and Kira decided that it was enough.
"Alright... Tell me the truth."
"Well…um…" Ethan trailed off as Conner tried to speak.
"It's…" Hayley started, no words coming to mind.
Kim actually opened her mouth but no words came out and Tommy just rubbed his temples. Mike stayed silent, his facial expression hidden by his helmet.
"What?!" Kira snapped, getting impatient. "Is someone gonna tell me what they really think?"
"I will," Conner relented, unable to hold his tongue.
"Conner!" Ethan, Hayley, Tommy, Mike and Kim all admonished him.
"No, let him talk!" Kira ordered desperately.
"I just think it's... it's not you," Conner stated, surprising everyone with how genuine he sounded. They were expecting something totally rude.
"I agreed with Conner," Kim blurted out. "It's like looking at a different person."
"It's like Trent and his clone! What you're like in the video and what you're like in real, they couldn't be more different!" Tommy added.
"I knew it," Kira said with a sigh. "What was I thinking?"
The computer alarm beeped, indicating a monster attack.
"I never thought I'd be glad to hear that sound," Ethan breathed in relief.
"Either something escaped from the air show, or we're in trouble," Conner commented, observing the flying serpent that was coming out of an airship.
"Zeltrax," Michael stated simply, turning around to face the others. "You five handle it. I'm going to try and help Hayley get our new weapon powered up."
Conner, Kira and Ethan formed the Thundersaurus Megazord while Kim and Tommy formed their own megazord. The serpent-like vehicle slammed into the main megazord, knocking it away. Luckily, they landed safely while the serpent did the same to Kim and Tommy.
"Look out!" Conner pointed out as the thing fired lasers at them.
The main megazord hit the ground but the second megazord was able to dodge the lasers. When the first megazord got to its feet again, the enemy disappeared.
"Where's it going?" Kira asked.
"Good question," Conner answered.
The five coloured rangers ran up behind the black ranger who was looking up at the aerial assault craft.
"What should we do Dr M?" Ethan asked.
"You'll have to fight him the best you can," Mike answered before raising his morpher. "Brachiozord!"
The serpent flew out of nowhere, hitting the brachiozord and making the other zords roar. The brachiozord shot at the serpent with its mouth laser but the serpent evaded the blasts and launched into the air, splitting into four separate fighter jets.
"Whoa!" Conner yelped in shock. "Check that out!"
"Oh, man," Mike groaned just before the three of the fighter jets shot at the rangers, sending them flying through the air. Mike quickly recovered and got to his feet. "He's getting away!" He watched as the aircraft flew away. "Oh no, you don't."
The black ranger ran forward and leapt into the air, flying up into the aerial assault craft. Meanwhile, the fighter jets continued to shoot at the brachiozord, eventually flooring it.
"We gotta do something!" Conner shouted, looking at Ethan.
"Like what?" Ethan questioned.
"Might be time to go Triassic, Conner," Kira suggested to her boyfriend.
Kim and Tommy nodded, standing in formation so that Conner was in the centre.
"Triassic ranger, engage!" Conner commanded.
Conner's ranger suit changed as the other rangers demorphed, panting at the loss of energy. The triassic ranger walked forwards towards the Terror Assault Craft a.k.a the serpent vehicle.
"I'm coming up there!" Conner stated firmly, jumping up towards the craft which just effortlessly rebuffed him. He landed on his feet, the others regrouping around him. "Okay, new plan." He pulled out his blaster and pointed it upwards. "Fire!"
He shot at the craft and screamed as it blasted him. The others jerked in shock, worried for their leader. The smoke cleared, revealing an upright Conner and his glowing shield.
"Conner?" Tommy called, spotting something in the distance.
"What?" Conner asked, looking to Tommy and then looking up to see a new zord. "Whoa, Hayley did it! Triassic Megarover is online."
"And just in time, by the look of things," Hayley observed. "Do it just like we practised, Conner."
"You got it," Conner answered before floating up to enter the megarover.
After the fight, a victorious but demorphed Conner ran up to the others. "Where's Dad?"
"You want to tell him?" Kira asked Ethan who just looked at Conner in concern while Tommy and Kim stared at something in the sky. The red ranger turned around to look at aerial assault aircraft.
"He's still up there?" he breathed out, his lips going dry.
The five rangers gasped, letting out cries of despair as the aerial assault craft exploded.
"No!"
"No! This isn't happening!" Conner shrieked.
"It's alright, rangers," Michael's voice said, making them all five spin around to see him alive and well. Kira gasped and Conner, Tommy and Ethan grinned. Kim let out a sigh of relief before they ran to join the black ranger. "I made it out."
"Dad!" Conner shouted joyfully.
"You're okay!" Kira commented, all the terror leaving her.
"But what about Zeltrax?" Ethan asked.
"Zeltrax is gone," Mike answered.
Conner, Kira and Ethan were all walking towards the place where they were going to shoot Kira's new music video when they heard a familiar voice.
"Well, everything is all set." Kira turned around to see Trent holding a camera, immediately lightening up because she hadn't seen him since the beginning of the day. She was pleased that he made time to show up and her happiness wasn't completely lost on Conner who felt a little uncomfortable. He couldn't remember the last time Kira smiled at him like that. "Cameras are all ready, playback's good. All you gotta do is sing."
"Thank you, guys," Kira said, speaking to all three of them. "From now on, no more letting someone tell me who to be." Conner quickly grabbed the opportunity to say something before Trent could.
"Especially since who you are is already pretty cool," he told her with a smile. Kira grinned at her boyfriend in response, making Trent, who was walking on her other side, pretend to look busy with his camera.
If Ethan wasn't in such high spirits, he would've rolled his eyes at the love triangle playing out right next to him.
"Hey, you forget something?" Conner asked upon seeing the blue ranger looking like a bundle of nerves.
"I'm supposed to meet my cyber-hottie today!" he answered excitedly, rubbing his hands together.
"What, here?" Trent asked.
"I figure, you can't get much better in the first date department than a music video shoot," Ethan replied.
"How're you going to know who she is?" Conner enquired, looking past Kira and Trent.
"She's wearing a pink hat and a matching jacket," Ethan answered before spotting something - or someone - in the distance. "Oh, there she is now!"
Kira and Trent exchanged amused smiles as Ethan ran off towards a girl who was reading a magazine, fitting his description perfectly. Conner stopped, Kira and Trent following suit, as he pulled out his mobile phone and got ready to film.
"Excuse me, are you Dreamgirl23?" Ethan asked.
"Yes, I am!" a familiar voice squealed, and the girl got up and turned around to reveal that she was Cassidy Cornell.
The blonde gasped as she saw Ethan who looked shocked. Their smiles faded as Ethan turned around to look at his friends. They all gaped at him.
"I don't believe it," Trent stated before he and Kira shared an awkward laugh.
"Looking back I don't regret, one single day."
Ethan grinned at Cassidy who shyly returned it, making Conner laugh at them as he clapped along to the music.
"Memories will keep me close when you walk away."
Devin, also in the audience, raised his camera up to get a good view of Kira.
"It's harder than I could imagine."
Trent also filmed her and she smiled upon seeing him in the crowd.
"Guess I should have known that."
Kim and Tommy, who arrived a little late, hugged each other, feeling the depth of the song.
"Close your eyes I'll be there; I'll come running anywhere."
Kira discreetly winked at the two of them, silently thanking them for attending.
"Say goodbye, I'll be okay; I'll wait for you 'cause."
Kim chuckled and waved at her.
"True love will never fade."
Tommy nodded, agreeing with the lyrics. Indeed, that was true; his love for Kim never did fade, no matter how hard he tried to forget her. Feeling a pair of soft lips against his clean shaven jaw, he tilted his head a little so that they could meet his.
"When it's real, you can feel it."
Kira beamed at the strong mutual love between her friends before looking at Trent again, wishing that he'd put his camera down so that she could make eye contact.
"And I know that you know."
Conner's smile faded as he realised Kira's gaze had constantly been flickering between the general audience and one particular direction. Following her gaze, he saw a bunch of random people and... Trent.
"That I will keep on waiting."
Trent wasn't stupid. He could see that Kira was looking straight at him but he continued to film. What was she thinking? She had a boyfriend now. The red ranger. He shook his head. He was probably reading into it too much. Why would someone want the white ranger when they had the red one? The triassic one.
"Faithfully… patiently… for you."
However, Trent's fears were confirmed when, after she sang the last line of her song, Kira stared straight at him with a wistful look on her face. He slowly put his camera down, and upon seeing how sad she looked, he knew that she had been singing from the very bottom of her heart. He shook his head again, almost doing a double take when he spotted something out of the corner of his eye.
Trent gulped, quickly regaining his composure and joining in with the applause from the crowd, trying to ignore the pair of eyes that were glaring at him...
