Chapter 4: All I Heard Was Static
Cammie's P.O.V.
I decided to go with Zach… and it only took 2 hours before I realized it was a big mistake.
"You want me to what?" I asked.
"Jump," Zach smirked, as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
I gulped and looked down, knowing fully well we were more than a thousand feet in the air flying over France. "I can't."
"You have a parachute," he smirked.
"I won't," I declared.
"Fine. You've left me no choice Gallagher girl. Bye."
Without another look at me, Zach ran forward and jumped out the plane.
My heart sank and I sighed before tightening my parachute.
"Don't die," I muttered to myself.
I crossed my arms over my chest, closed my eyes, and jumped. The wind hit my face as I sank to the ground and my eyes opened, taking in the ground beneath me. I waited a bit more time before I pulled on the parachute and it opened up.
My body flew slightly back and I released a sigh of relief as I floated to the ground.
And then I fell flat on my face.
I knew Zach was smirking at me without even looking and I glanced up at him to find him giving me another one of his I-know-something-you-don't-know looks.
"Was that so hard?" he teased.
I blew a strand of hair from my face and unhooked my parachute.
"Where are Grant, Macey and Liz?" I asked, ignoring his question.
Zach merely smirked before pointing up at the sky. I saw three figures gliding in the air. All three of them landed without a problem.
Once we were all safely on the ground, Zach looked towards the city and clasped his hands together. "Welcome to Paris. The city of lights… and love."

We walked around the city as if we were tourists and not spies in training. As if we were here on vacation instead of hunting down a criminal. And it made me feel sick inside.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"We are going to find a place to stay," Zach answered before stopping outside of what seemed like a five star hotel.
We walked in and a flood of eyes directed themselves to us..
I shrank at the stares, but Zach grew, striding confidently to the check in desk and slamming down his credit card. "Two of your finest rooms."
The man blinked at Zach before sighing and swiping the card. Afterwards, he gave Zach two key passes. Zach gave the man a friendly smile that faded as soon as he turned back to us.
"Girls in one room. Guys in the other. We'll meet up in 30 minutes."
He handed us our key pass and then headed to the stairs with Grant.
"Why didn't he take the elevator? His room is on the 30th floor," Liz pointed out.
"I don't know," I shrugged. "There a lot of things we'll never know about Zachary Goode."
Liz and Macey nodded in agreement. We walked to the elevators and went to our suite.
Upon opening the door, my jaw dropped and I examined the room in awe. It was gigantic with two queen size beds fitted with gold satin sheets. It had a mini fridge in the back, a porcelain bathroom with a Jacuzzi, bathtub, and shower, and to top it all off there was a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower.
"How did Zach afford this?" Liz asked.
"I don't know about you, but I don't want to find out," I replied.
We immediately put down our bags and walked further into the room.
"Why don't we get something to eat and then find Grant and Zach?" Macey suggested.
"Sounds good to me," I nodded.
After we ate, we sat in the lobby waiting for Grant and Zach.
"We've been waiting for 20 minutes. Where are they?" Macey asked, completely fed up
At that moment, an elevator opened and out walked Zach and Grant.
"You ready?" Zach asked.
I nodded, already headed for the door. "Let's go."

We were split up, comms unit in our ears as we searched. For what? I still wasn't sure.
"Passing the Eiffel Tower," Zach voice filled my ears.
I sighed and continued to look around before spotting a man wearing a dark suit and holding a brief case. "What's the description of the man again?" I asked.
"Dark pinstripe suit, slicked back blonde hair, Caucasian, brown eyes, a scar on his left cheek, and a briefcase," Macey reminded me.
"Found target," I revealed.
"Wait for backup," Liz responded.
I stayed where I was looking at the man until I felt someone touch me and I jumped a little.
"It's only me," I heard Zach say, his warm breath hitting my neck as he spoke.
I suddenly felt the man's eyes reach mine. He watched me for a moment before breaking off into a sprint.
"Gallagher girl, go!" I heard Zach shout.
I immediately began running through the crowds as Zach followed. We could see the man speeding ahead, phone pressed to his ear.
I could feel my comms unit slipping as I ran, communication slowly going with it. Out of nowhere, I bumped into a pedestrian in front of me and felt myself almost fall over. Strong arms caught me before I could and Zach helped me stand straight.
I didn't wait for him as I started to run again, this time into a closed off area, before I came to a stop.
That was when my comms unit dropped to the floor. I could hear Macey's frazzled voice saying, "Cammie, what's going on? Cammie, answ-,"
The comms unit went dead and all I heard was static as I stood in front of a man pointing a gun at my head.
