She couldn't tell how much time had past, but the pain continued. She couldn't say anything, almost in a nightmare, but whenever she felt the slightest of breeze against her she felt like frostbite on her skin. When it was warm from the fireplace she felt like there was hot lava on her. The worst pain was when Valiant or Magnus tried to touch her. When they did it was like her bones had shattered into a million pieces inside of her.

During all this pain she would black in and out of consciousness. Whenever she would black out, she was in her mind, thinking, dreaming of why she's going through all this. As she drifted off into the darkness she saw memories pass by her. As she laid in pain she recalled her time in New York and how everything even started.

They arrived in the airport in New York and took a cab to Magnus' home. Once they arrived he unlocked the door and gave a wave to her,

"Welcome to my humble home."

She looked to see it was almost like a club in a way as he slowly gave her a tour of the place. As they walked he opened one room at the very end and looked at her,

"Here is the guest room where you'll be staying my dear."

She smiled at him as she placed her things inside and let Valiant out, letting him turn back to his normal size as she glanced back at Magnus.

"Now that I'm all set here...Shall we finish up the contract?"

He gave a low chuckle as he waved his arm to the hall and says,

"Always down to business, right this way Miss Black."

They walked back down the hallway to his study where there were some nicely furnished modern white furniture with a glass coffee table near the fireplace. The shelves were stacked with old books from those of strange words and letters, to english classics, and even some modern books as well. There was even a large desk with a very flamboyant chair of polished wood but the seat was a bright yellow color with black strips. Serenity sat at one of the leather couches as he went over to a small mini bar in the corner and asked her,

"Drink?"

"I'm still a minor."

"Suit yourself."

He poured himself a glass of brandy as he walked back and sat next to her, leaning back against the arm of the couch. Serenity looked at him as Valiant patted over to them and sat in front of her on the floor, staring at Magnus to protect Serenity. Magnus' cat like eyes muses as he grin appeared on his lips,

"Alright well what is it you want from me, Miss Black?"

"I think the real question is, what is it you want from me Mr. Bane."

"Hm…Well, these."

He flicked his hand to produce a small parchment of paper and hands it to her. She looked over it to read it was a contract with her agreements still blank.

"When did you do this?"

"On the plane when you were sleeping."

"Of course you did...You want me to get you certain items of value, a seven months use on my gift with free access to see what's in my mind, and...a favor...So you mean at any moment you could call upon me like a genie?"

"Mhm, more like just cashing in a trade in the future…"

"Alright...These are heavy stakes to ask for, especially being able to go into my mind to see visions. Fine, I agree to these terms as in return you must teach me what you can do."

"I would dearie but I can't."

She stared at him as he took a sip of his drink as she moved all of her hair to one side of her face, as she politely asks,

"Why?"

"Because you aren't like me, and the only way I can teach you what I can do is...If you drink some of my blood."

She flinched back as her mouth gaped open. She couldn't believe what she was hearing as she closes her mouth slowly and gave a little gulp.

"...Alright, say I did drink your blood, what would happen?"

"I don't know. I don't like to freely give my blood but what they say that if one drinks a warlock's blood they get some powers, but not all live to tell the tale."

"...So there is a possibility that I could die."

"Yes."

She sat quietly as she looked down at Valiant and thought long and hard about her decision. She closed her eyes as she tried to see the future and it wasn't pretty, except one. There was one vision that gave her a small glimmer of hope which was seeing her with her family and friends together, laughing, smiling. She saw Sirius looking healthy with Harry next to him, while Serenity sat on the other side. Their friends all around chattering as Ron's mother made a lovely dinner. That small vision of hope for her of all her loved ones save saw...Amazing. She looks up at him and says,

"...I accept your terms."

"Oh? You seem so sure you might live."

"I don't know if I'll live or not but if so...It will greatly influence what I want in my future. If I do live, then you must teach me what I can do with whatever abilities I get from you."

"Of course, as long as you retrieve certain things for me first, then we'll do the transformation. Don't worry I'll let you live here rent free as long as you can cook…One last thing though, whatever you learn here cannot become public when you go back, meaning no one must know about what I teach you or even my name...Just that you changed and that's it, because if you do, not only will you be in trouble but so will I...Then I'll come after you."

He mused as he snapped his fingers to add in her conditions into the contract and produced a pen as well and handed it to her. He gave a cat like smile and says,

"Do we have a deal Miss Black?"

She took the pen as she stared back at him. She quickly signed her name in elegant calligraphy as she says,

"We have a deal Mr. Bane."

"Excellent…"

After that Serenity would go out to retrieve items as close as the New York area to as far as central Asia. She would always bring back items such as special herbs, trade with vampires and werewolves alike, convey messages to the fey and all bring them back to Magnus. She was very much his messenger but sometimes there would be times she would have an injury or two. The vampires and the fey were quite difficult to do business with but she managed to get what she needed from him. She even made a few friends of various downworlders such as talking to the vampires about other downworlders, combat training with werewolves, and learning about various tricks and potions the fey make to mess with others.

Through all of this she spent quite a bit of time with Magnus and got to know about him like a friend, and she always felt a bit sorry for him because he was lonely. She gave him access to her visions as he saw if there were ever going to be any fights between downworlders, or something about the Clave. He explained everything about his world to her as she did the same.

It was one day when he suddenly asked her while she was making dinner,

"Why are you doing all of this?"

She was making lobster newburg with a salad on the side. She was letting the lemon tiramisu that she made last night cool in the fridge as she stopped mixing the salad to look up at him.

"What, making dinner?"

"No! I mean doing all this as in why are you sacrificing so much for people who don't even know what you're doing?"

She slowly wipes her hands on her apron as she walks around to sit next to him on the island and takes his glass of wine away,

"First, you're going to spoil your appetite. Second...Well it's a bit complicated…"

He chuckles as he looks back at her and says,

"Well I know that, how about you tell me over dinner?"

"Fine, at least set the table."

Magnus chuckled again as he snapped his fingers as the table was suddenly set nicely while Serenity muttered under her breath,

"Lazy warlock."

She finished up the lobster as she set them nicely on two white square plates, with the salad with red cherry tomatoes next to it. She placed the dishes on the dining table and brought a glass of water for herself. She took off her apron and left it in the kitchen while they both sat to eat.

"Your explanation?"

"Ah yes...You once told me you loved someone who was a vampire. You loved her but she left you for some human lover...That love you had for her is what I have with these people who you believe are fools. If they knew I was doing all of them well quite frankly they would probably lock me up to prevent me from even doing this. I love my family, my friends...And I would gladly put my life on the line to protect them even if it means that they never know what happened to me…"

Magnus quietly ate and listened to her as she spoke. He nodded his head as he flickered his amber eyes at her and says,

"...I would think that you were a Shadowhunter in your past life Miss Black…"

She gave a smile as she nodded her head politely at him as she ate quietly. After that night it was like they connected, as if Serenity gained a flamboyant older brother as they lived together. After fulfilling the last thing he would want which were phoenix tears that only Serenity could retreive he gave his end of the bargain.

During her change, Magnus would take a little peak into her mind to see what she was thinking and saw every once in awhile the pain she felt. Though he threw parties during her change, he was actually quite concerned but tried to not to show it. After almost a week of harsh pain was when she finally woke up.

It was almost midnight as the clock ticked. Magnus was asleep in his room when the clock struck midnight. During the bang of the clock Serenity slowly opened her eyes, fluttering as she looked up at the ceiling. Her whole body felt a bit different as she slowly sat up. Her clothes looked as if they were recently changed into some black shorts and a red tank top as she swung her legs to the edge of the bed to stand up slowly. Valiant woke up from the end of the bed and wagged his tail and barked. He jumped down to run out the door while Serenity took one step at a time to look out the window to see the time of day as she heard Valiant and Magnus running into her room.

"Serenity?!"

She turned to him slowly as he wore a horrendous rainbow leopard print pajama bottoms with a white tank top for mens. A smile slowly appeared on her face as she gave a soft little giggle,

"Nice PJ's."

Magnus looked down at his clothes and back at her with an eyebrow up to reply,

"What's wrong with them? I find them quite lovely…"

They stared at each other trying to keep straight faces until they both laughed as he came a bit closer to her with a smile and asked,

"So how do you feel?"

She looked down at herself and didn't see any difference as she looked back at him,

"...Normal."

After that they spent a week trying to figure out if she received any powers or not and they were both surprised. Magnus tried to see if she could attack at all but instead of producing a blue flame or spark she had a whitish color instead. When she tried to throw it at him instead of feeling pain he felt relief. They tested to see if she could try to do anything violent but instead she got the gifts of a healer. Magnus even tested it by giving himself a deep cut on his arm and she gently touched him with her white flame, healing it in a matter of seconds.

That wasn't the only thing she learned as one day as she was walking down the streets and one vampire she knew had an infatuation with her, so much he almost bit her. She ran with her life as she took out her wand and did a nonverbal spell but he had so fast it was hard to pinpoint at him. She made a quick run as she whispers in her head that she was someone else, anyone else. She heard his footsteps as she looked to see him stare at her and suddenly ask,

"Excuse me did you see a young girl? She's about this tall with brownish light hair."

Serenity slowly shook her head as he turned to walk away. She pointed her wand at him and casted a sleeping spell. It knocked him out as she quickly took out a small bag of powder she got from one of her fey friends and sprinkled it on him, so he would fall in love with the first person he sees. She ran with her might after that back at Magnus with it being almost nine o' clock at night with guests coming in for one of his parties for his cat, Chairman Meow. She walked up to the front door to see him as he looks at her and asks,

"...You're back? Where's your daughter?"

"Magnus! It's me! Alice."

He tilted his head as he peered at her as suddenly Valiant came out to greet her and licks her face as she yelps out,

"Stop that Valiant!"

His eyes grew wide as he quickly took her hand as they both went up to her room. She yells at him through the music,

"Magnus! Stop that hurts!"

Magnus quickly opens her door and pushes her in with Valiant slipping inside. She looked at him with an exasperated expression and hissed,

"What was that for?"

"This!"

He took her shoulders and spin her to look at the mirror and she stopped. She stared at herself and saw her hair was a red flaming locks yet her eyes weren't the emerald color they were but a different shade of green. She looked like an older porcelain doll as she screams.

"Bloody hell! I look like Jocelyn!"

"Yes you do, now calm down and breath...That's right."

Serenity tried to calm herself down as she felt herself change, to the point that when she opened her eyes she was looking back at herself and relaxed as she looked at Magnus from the mirror.

"I think we found your new abilities…"

After that he trained her in trying to adjust to her new found abilities of changing forms. She wasn't a Metamorphmagus, because she couldn't change into anything she wanted. She had to practice on just changing her hair to the simplistic features of her faces, yet the easiest part was changing eye colors. It was hard and grueling but with training she got the hang of it, but still very limited.

"I-Is it true?"

Alice looked up at the young, sickly vampire woman, while picking up the upside down tower card from the tarot placement on her table.

" You keep this dangerous game up, and you'll fall…And so will your subjugate lover"

Serenity built up a persona of Alice Black, making a name for herself. She made herself have high cheekbones and a small, slightly curved nose placed in a soft face with gentle yet strong grey eyes. Her skin was a bit lighter to be called fair, as she finally grasped an image to call her own, another part of herself to act.

"But…How can I make him love me for me? I don't him to worship me but be with me for the sake of love, not control."

Alice rolls her eyes as she slams her delicate hand on the table, making some of the tarot cards fall off.

"Then you are a fool and a shame of a vampire…Get out."

The vampire woman left as Magnus came in and took the seat across from her.

"Hmmm, how's business?"

She looked up at him and tossed a bit of her hair behind her shoulder.

"Depends, how much have you made?"

"Then quite well. I have quite a few favors now in my pocket just to get them connected with the witch, Alice Black."

"Hmm…So what are the rumors then about me?"

"Well, some say you're a half-breed warlock from the UK with a special gift. Some believe you're just a mundane with special powers."

"Ah, and what do you tell people."

He gave a low chuckle as he leaned over the table and picked up a card, placing it in front of her.

"…That you are a high priestess in human flesh…"

The card of the High Priestess stared back, making her grin at him.

"You always do love spinning a good rumor."

He picked the card back up as slowly he made it burn from the top as he replied with a cat like grin.

"Ah, but you're not a rumor…You are the real legend from what I hear. One who can predict the future, tell the past, and can even tip the scales of life."

"I can also ruin lives with the truth."

She stared at him while he gave a low chuckle,

"Or with a lie…That's why you're called a witch."

"…Luckily in your land here, you don't have to many witches…Just quite a few warlocks."

"Well the whole ministry of magic you have there does keep a tight lock. You just need to figure out how to slip through the cracks."

She mused as she picked the tower card up and glanced at it, before placing it over the candle to catch on fire.

"…Or just let them burn…"

Magnus chuckled before snapping his fingers, making the two cards reappear without a single burn mark on it.

"Only time will tell…Alice Black."

They both her a little ding of a bell that alerted them that another customer came in. Magnus poofed away

It was her last night with Magnus, as the next day she would leave back to England. After, roughly, another three months had passed full of training as well as understanding. He even threw her a party as an extremely early birthday party as she realized she was going to be fifth-teen for her fourth year in Hogwarts, since her birthday was on October sixteenth. She muses as she enjoyed her party with friends she made and spent the last hours with Magnus talking. He took her to the airport as he gave her one last hug and says,

"Don't be a stranger…"

"Good bye Magnus...I hope we see each other in the future."

"We will...You still owe me a favor."

He gave her a wink as she smiles at him. She gave him a kiss on the cheek as she took Valiant in his crate and her bags as she got on the plane, glancing one last time before leaving as she starts the first step of her new journey.

Magnus arrived back from the airport and finally made it back to his home. As he was about to open the door it as left ajar. He slowly opening the door, not making a sound before seeing a woman on the floor. She wore a black cloak as the hood was down, while there was a dagger sticking out from her back. Her light brown hair was wet as he noticed blood smeared on the floor around her.

"What on-"

"Magnus?!"

He recognized that voice as she turned to look up at him.

"No…"

She had blurry eyes as she tried to reach out for him and whimpered,

"Magnus…Help me!"

He take's her hand and whispers to the blind woman,

"Shhh…You're safe…You're safe…"
