Serenity stared at him as he stood completely still. She couldn't read what he was thinking as he slowly turned and walked out of the room, whispering something in Dumbledore's ear. Dumbledore left the room as well, leaving her with Sirius. Sirius gave a long sigh as he walked over to her and gave a tight hug.
"Sirius? What's wrong?"
"I spoke to Dumbledore and...He made a few good points and I'm sad to say that it seems like it's a better idea for Snape to train you."
"...Believe me I would much rather have you train me but if Dumbledore thinks Snape is a better fit then…"
"I just feel uneasy with you going back to that school...I would much rather lock you up here safe and sound."
"I know…If my parents were still alive they would have felt the same way."
She felt his arms tighten around her more as she gave a soft sigh. Serenity knew how hard it was for Sirius, especially this year of finding out about Serenity and telling Harry the truth about his parents death. Now he wanted to adopt her and Serenity was going to place herself into danger again after helping him. He started to act like a real father as she gave a little kiss on his cheek and smiled at him,
"Hey...I'm going to be fine. Like you said before I would be perfect with the Maudraders and I'm sure I'll be able to use those tricks to save myself...I'll be ok."
Sirius placed both hands around her face and gave her a kiss on her forehead and looks at her in the eyes.
"I know just...Watch your back and Harry's…"
"You know I will."
They both looked at each other and gave a small laugh as Sirius went to his room, for he gave Dumbledore his consent. Now it was Serenity's turn to convince Snape to train her and possibly become her partner as well.
She walked down the stairs to hear Dumbledore and Snape in the dining room.
"-you now mention this to me Albus?"
"I know you are upset Severus but you must understand I didn't know until recently she was alive."
"...So you're just going to allow her back in with a reward? She should be punished for pulling a stunt like this."
"Well this 'stunt' is something that could help us instead. I believe she has already made her mark into the pureblood society and with that influence she can easily blend in."
"What about her death?"
"No one was informed and I can speak to Minerva about what had happen, say someone faked her death."
"I see...How will she maintain both disguises? She cannot keep making polyjuice potion."
"She doesn't need it."
"...So she's an Metamorphmagus is what you're saying? Soon you'll tell me she really is a Seer."
"Actually, yes she is a Seer but no, not a Metamorphmagus…"
"Albus, this is nothing but sheer stupidity. Not only she did this ridiculous stunt but now we must inform the Ministry that she is alive."
"Severus!"
"Don't. You. Dare!"
They both turned to look at her as she stood at the entrance by the kitchen, slowly walking up to them with Valiant by her side.
"...Nice for you to join us, Aragon...Or should I say Black?"
"...Dumbledore, would you excuse us for a moment?"
"Of course...Come Valiant."
Valiant nodded his head as he followed Dumbledore out the room and up the stairs to go speak to Sirius. She walked over to the door and closed it as she turned to him, who sat at the dining table, glaring at her.
"Come to beg?"
"Hardly, but just a warning. If you dare to expose me to the ministry, I will expose everything about you. For if you tell the ministry anything about me, everything I've done will be for naught. I didn't just kill myself, not just once but twice, just to have some git ruin everything!"
"How dare you speak to me in that tone!"
He rose to his feet as she puffed back at him,
"Coming from the man who has been nothing but rude! Let me tell you something, you aren't the only one who has sacrificed! You are not the only one who has suffered!"
She yelled at him as her hand went up about to strike his face. He caught her wrist just in time, as it was inches away from his face.
"Why you little-"
He jerked her wrist, making her whole body move closer to him. His other hand grabbed her other wrist as she struggled.
"Now you listen to me brat, I don't understand why Dumbledore wants me to not only train but be partnered with you. You'll be no help whatsoever…You cannot make a difference."
"Even the smallest grain of sand can easily tip a scale. You made one mistake and it killed off the one you love."
She whispered the last part as he stared down at her with cold obsidian eyes, more like granite by how cold they were to her as he gave almost a low snarl at her.
"You are nothing. You will not only be of no help, instead you will make things worst. Instead of trying to play hero why don't you just run along and study for your OWLs like a good student?"
"You mo- Ah!"
Serenity suddenly yells as she felt a piercing pain in her head. It felt like hot needles sinking into her skull as she stumbles a bit, feeling his hands wrap around her into an embrace. Her cheek against his chest as she winced from the pain in her head.
"No! That's my son! That's my boy!"
Nothing but a crowd of students as Serenity tried to look but all she could see were gasps and crying faces around her. She tried to come closer as she tried to see through the mass of bodies. She couldn't tell as her vision blurred the two people as a shining cup laid next to them. One of them was holding the other's body in his arms but she couldn't see the faces. Everything was just a mass blur.
"Aragon? Get a hold of yourself!"
She heard a hiss in her ear as she shook her head. She suddenly felt the pressure gone, instead the gentle sound of a heartbeat was against her ear. It was going extremely fast for a moment but was slowing down. She felt warm but slowly eased herself to stand on her own as she bowed her head to Snape.
"I'm sorry…"
"...What on earth was that?..."
"One of her visions."
Serenity looked to see Sirius at the door with Dumbledore. Valiant growled as she raised her hand. The beast trotted to her side as she gently pet his head and gave a small smile. She sat down on one of the benches to rest as she waved her hand to motion everyone else to join her. Sirius sat next to her, allowing her to lean against his shoulder. Dumbledore sat at the armchair and Snape sat across her and Sirius, glaring at him and glanced at her.
"Are you sure you want to stay?"
"Yes...It's fine...It's not as bad as before…"
Dumbledore sat quietly for a few moments until he asked,
"What did you see?"
Serenity looked up at the elderly wizard as she sat up a bit, while Sirius held her hand.
"...We must be careful during the triwizard tournament…I saw myself in a crowd of students with worried faces and those closer to the scene crying. The emotions were very strong as someone's father yelled out it was his son...I'm afraid, headmaster, there will be a death but I cannot see who for that part was a blur.
"But will be a boy?"
They all turned to see a woman by the door, wearing a strange mask. Sirius sprang up to his feet, moving his arms over Serenity while Severus held his hand. The masked woman raised her hands and whispered,
"I'm not a threat."
"Calm down everyone…This is an old friend of mine, Miss Morgana Emrys."
"Then why is she wearing a mask?"
The woman looked at Serenity with piercing gray-green eyes as she whispers,
"Will a boy die?"
Serenity closed her eyes as she tried to go back but all she felt were shifts as if she was standing in a desert of sand, always moving.
"I don't know...When a man said it was his son I'm pretty sure it will be a boy...But something tragic will occur so we must be careful."
"Hold on a second!"
Sirius was still guarding Serenity, yet strangely enough Valiant was quite calm.
"We still don't know a thing about this woman!"
The raven haired woman slowly walked to stand by Albus and placed a hand on his shoulder,
"She came to help… I called her here."
"How did she even get in?"
"Dumbledore already told me about this place before I stepped in…"
The whole room went quiet for a moment as everyone stared at the stranger, except Dumbledore. Soon Snape asked,
"Then remove the mask…"
The woman turned to look at him, eyeing him down before replying,
"I can't…I have terrible scars from a battle and if exposed, it may cause more damage to my face. Just know I am a friend…"
The woman's voice was very soft, as it almost relaxed Serenity's tension. She had a strange feeling, almost felt peaceful with this woman as she asks,
"How do you know about the boy?"
The woman smiled as she raised her ivory skinned hand to snap her fingers. Soon a deck of tarot cards appear and float in the air.
"A witch can see quite a bit, with the right tools and talent, young one."
Soon the cards came down onto the table into one neat stack before taking a seat next to Albus. Everyone settled down as Serenity asked the woman more questions,
"So how clear can you predict the future?"
"Oh, dear child…I can only see a mere fraction compared to you. From what I hear from Albus, you seem to be quite a powerful seer.'
"How long have you known Headmaster Dumbledore?"
The woman looked the elderly wizard and smile before patting his hand like a grand daughter would act, yet had a sad look in her eyes.
"I have known Dumbledore ever since I learned of my powers… Now enough about me, lets get to it shall we?"
"'We'?"
They turned to Snape who had a cold facade on his face as he replied in his deep baritone voice,
"Before this one had her...so called 'vision,' you suddenly appear as if you are in charge…"
The woman stared down at Snape and at the moment Serenity felt as if the woman already knew Snape. She have a mocking grin as she replied back at him,
"Well…I'm sorry you feel that way, yet from what I've discussed with the Headmaster over here, I'll be assisting you this school year as well as observing this girl."
"I have already made up my mind that I will not teach this child, so what makes you think I would also need to have an assistant?"
"Not an assistant, you twat."
The Headmaster raised his hand to cut off the banter,
"That is enough Morgana…We don't know if you two will work out…Unfortunately. So until then you will be working as an assistant nurse to help with the tournament this year, while working on getting intel."
Morgana nodded her head as she whispers softly,
"Understood…"
As they spoke, Valiant nudged Sirius' arm when his hand was on the table, making him knock over the tarot cards.
"Valiant! Let me pick them up,"
"Oh no, it's fine."
As Dumbledore spoke about the tournament, Sirius reached to pick up the tarot cards on the floor yet he noticed that the woman was just feeling around the floor till she felt a card. He picked up all the ones around him and sat back up.
"Here you go."
He held them out as the woman made a reach for them but he moved his hand away. The woman moved her hand around but couldn't get the cards.
"…You're blind."
Serenity held her breathe as she saw Sirius was right. The woman finally reached to grab the stack he held and placed it over the cards she had. She slipped them under her cloak as she gave a slight cough.
"Temporarily, but yes…I am blind."
Serenity slowly moved her hand up a down.
"I may be blind but I can still feel you moving your hand up and down my face…"
Serenity moved her hand back down quickly as a red color blush appeared on her face.
"Sorry…"
"It's alright child."
Sirius continued to stare as he asks,
"How are you able to predict anything if you can't see your cards?"
"Each card has a small indent in them. I memorized each card to know which is which."
"I'm sorry Albus, no offense to you Miss."
The woman bowed her head to him as they all sat in silence, taking in this new piece of information.
"Before we were interrupt…As I said, Morgana will be in the school to help with intel. You will be partnered up with Severus incase I am unreachable at any moment… He will be your partner."
"I understand you concerns Headmaster, however…I feel that it would be useless to have this woman 'assist me' let alone be partners with her, especially since she is blind."
"Why of course Snivellus, why would she be partners with you when she's far better capable without you."
"Like how capable you are? Oh that would be lovely, she going to Azkaban instead of you, what a lovely trade... You try to take me for a fool? Yet you failed to give a proper lie."
"Enough!"
Both men looked to Dumbledore as he looked at Serenity before glancing at Snape.
"How about this...Severus, I feel you underestimate Miss Emrys and young Miss Aragon…And you, young lady, you don't know Professor Snape well enough to be connected as mentor and student…So I propose that Serenity and Snape live with each other for the next two weeks to test each other."
"No!"
Sirius slammed his hands on the table as stood up.
"I am not letting my little girl live with this man!"
"Sirius...Calm down…"
Serenity gently touched his arm as he slowly sat back down. His eyes were fixated on Professor Snape as Serenity said,
"Headmaster...I understand what you mean but would that truly be necessary? To live with each other? All due respect sir, but if you haven't notice we can barely stand each other, let alone be together under one roof."
"You two need to see eye to eye. I'm sorry for deceiving you Severus but like I said, I didn't know about her return until recently. But, I do believe if you two trained together, it will benefit everyone greatly."
Snape looked at Dumbledore as if they were having a mental conversation with each other, while Serenity felt very unsure. She felt like nothing would actually work on persuading the Professor. Suddenly she thought of a plan as she gave out a long sigh.
"It's no use headmaster, I don't think Professor Snape can handle being in the same roof as me."
"Serenity..."
Dumbledore replied with a stern voice while Serenity continued.
"How about this...We make a bet. If I don't meet your expectations of being a good student and partner then I will never request for such a thing and also...I will request to be transferred out of your potions class and use it for self-study."
"Serenity, don't do such thing for this man. It's not worth it."
"Sirius...Please Professor Snape, reconsider and it's only for two weeks."
In the back of Serenity's head she was screaming, because she didn't want to expose herself in front of the very keen Potion master. She didn't want to see him because she knew he would never accept her. Now was this golden opportunity to go farther into her plans yet the one that was stopping her was him. She had to get his approval even if she might get hurt herself.
She looked back at Snape as his eyes were still harsh, almost chilling, staring back at her. Without moving his eyes his addressed Dumbledore,
"Alright…I accept but I will pick the place where we will use for the next two weeks...I'll speak to you Albus about it to see if it's appropriate."
"No! I do not approve of this at all! Serenity I'm not let you sleep under the same roof of that man...Albus you need to understand, I already treat her like a daughter. What kind of father would I be if I let my little girl go to some man's house? Especially one who used to be a death eater."
"I understand Sirius...But I feel that during those two weeks I could work with you to figure out how you will get around without getting caught. Also, get Remus to see you as well. I know you feel insecure with Serenity gone but she'll be safe with Severus...I trust him and you must trust me."
Sirius gave a low scowl before he calmed down and gently took Serenity hand and looked at her.
"Always keep your wand by your side and-"
Sirius looked at Valiant who sat next to him on the floor and pet the giant beast's head.
"Valiant make sure the dear professor keeps his hands to himself."
"Sirius!"
"Do not worry Sirius… As for Miss Emrys, she will be the communication for you to the outside world. She will help cover your tracks as well as dropping by to check up on how Miss Aragon is doing."
Serenity looked back at the woman as she turned her head to her,
"Us girls need to stick together right?"
The woman winked at the Serenity, though she was blind, caused her to giggle while Sirius gave a nod of approval.
Serenity hissed as Sirius glared back at Snape as he slowly rose to his feet. He left the room without saying another work, while everyone else sat quietly for a few moments. She knew Sirius was mad but he couldn't do anything. She already agreed and so did Snape, which somewhat surprised her a bit.
She stared at Snape as he spoke to Dumbledore on what to do at the school. She studied his familiar facial features as something tugged her heartstrings. The man she thought was warming up to her was now against her. She now has to prove she can do what she needs to do, yet on the inside she felt sad. When she changed back to her normal self she thought she would see him maybe, just maybe, smile or at least be happy. Instead he became bitter, cold, as she flickered her eyes away.
"So tell me a bit more about yourself Serenity."
Serenity turned to look at the blind woman and smiled. Soon they started to chat, even getting Sirius in on the conversation.
Severus Snape's POV
Severus saw the girl look at him as he suppressed his urge to get up leave. It didn't bother him that Dumbledore brought this new person into their whole plan, but it was all Aragon that got his blood boiling. He had never felt this kind of gnawing feeling of what felt like a sting of betrayal. She never told him what she would do and instead ended up faking her death...Not only that but kept her lineage a secret from him! He was tricked like a bloody fool, but not this time. With this little agreement he will find out everything she and Dumbledore have been keeping from him and when the two weeks end... He will succeed.
