Their steps were different as night and day as the sound echoed in the building. One was heavy and assertive while the other was light, extremely soft except the light click of her heels. Serenity flickered her eyes to glance up at the Professor to see him looking straight down the hallway. He suddenly stopped and turned to one room, opening it to show a small bedroom, with harsh dark curtains and with the flick of his hand he moved them to shed some light. It was simple, classic almost with a large queen bed of black metal artwork of a frame and etchings on the wood around it of fine vintage pattern. She quietly walked over to gently touch the black satin sheets as she turns back to the man and says softly,
"Is this to be my room sir?"
"...Obviously...I am in the room across if you need me...Unpack and meet me when you are done...I'm sure you're capable of doing that much."
She nodded as she heard his footsteps, leaving her room to proceed to his own. She didn't look back up til she heard the slam of her door as she finally let a breath out. She falls back onto the bed as she covers her eyes with her arm, giving out a sigh as she felt somewhat lonely in the large manor. When they first arrived she noticed how run down it was but it's proud architectural beauty gives it a pleasing look to the eye, with overgrowth all around making it look somewhat enchanted, or a hidden land with nothing but vast plains around it. When they entered is when she realized it was the famous Prince family manor, one of the most prestigious families out of the purebloods yet no heir to be found. Serenity remembered reading up about the family with Hermione but all they found was that the heiress left with a muggle. She questioned why Snape would have the keys to the home, let alone not even renovate it to his use, for all the family portraits were still up.
She flickered her eyes at the side of the bed to see a picture of a woman sitting proud with extremely pale skin and a sullen face. Her thin figure gave more hollowness to her features as strong eyebrows made her look as if she was looking down on everyone. Serenity gently picked the picture up to realize something familiar about her as she stared at it and just shook her head. She didn't have time for this nonsense as she quickly stood up to unpack her things. She placed her toiletries in the bathroom before taking out her more personal items like her sketchbook and a few books to read by her bed stand. She went to the wardrobe to open it up to find various gowns of satins to silks as they flowed on her finger tips like water. They were of various styles, made for high class women of great influence would wear such as actresses or stars. They were all dark shades but a few stood out with different colors but she quickly averts her eyes away.
"Hm, they are not mine to use."
She mused to herself as she quickly placed her clothes in neatly and quietly, finished when she heard a voice.
"Not like you deserve to wear them anyway."
Serenity turned to look around, hearing a female voice,
"Ugh, just another twit, so unrefined compared to my daughter…But even she brought shame upon the family name."
She slowly walked over to a connected room where it appeared to be a study with a small desk and a couple of book shelves. She glanced at the fireplace to see a portrait of a tall woman of pale skin. Her dark eyes looked down at serenity as her lips formed a cruel sneer.
"What are you looking at?"
The woman looked to be about in her sixties as she sits tall and proper on her chair. Her black hair had specks of grey as it was piled high on her head, as she kept her hands folded neatly on her lap. As Serenity got closer the woman's eyebrow perked up as she peered at her, tilting her head slightly as the corner of her dark red lips turned upwards to a smirk.
"My...A pretty little thing…"
"Thank you milady."
"Milady? Proper as well...Perhaps I was a bit rude judging you so quickly...What is your name child?"
"Serenity Alice Black Aragon."
"Hm, Black you say? Are you part of the Black family?"
"Indeed I am milady."
The woman suddenly laughs in a cackle with great amusement on her face, but not in a friendly sense.
"Of course...How is that family? Merlin's beard they were a good family indeed. Oh how I wished Regulus Black, such a respectable fellow, married my darling Eileen...Instead she married that filth of a muggle!"
She hissed as she slams her hand on the table next to her in the portrait. Serenity gave a small curtsy as she said quietly,
"With all due respect milady I would like to continue this conversation, but if I may ask, why are you here? Surely someone of your stature should be placed somewhere more open."
"Oh those stupid painters left me here...Ha! I tried to tell them where to place me and instead they tossed me in this study, the nerve of them...If only I was alive I would have hexed them all."
"Milady! That is quite harsh...I'm tired but how about tomorrow I move you to where you would like to be placed."
The elderly woman smiled as the wrinkles by her eyes gave a mischievous vibe until her strange smile turned into a scowl, her eyes hardened as anger appears from them.
"...Hm...So you're back…"
Serenity saw the woman wasn't staring at her but someone behind her. She turned around to find Snape standing in front of the connecting door as he quickly comes up to Serenity and grips her arm, pulling her out of the room.
"Get out you disgusting mudblood! You don't deserve to have the Prince family name, out with you!"
She yelled at them as the door was slammed shut behind them. He used his wand and hissed something under his breath as Serenity couldn't hear the woman anymore, instead the whole door disappeared.
"Professor? Professor let go, you're hurting me!"
His fingers were digging into her skin and cutting off her blood circulation, making her arm feel a bit numb. She never thought of him to be very strong but he certainly proved her wrong. He continued to drag her til they reached the middle of the bedroom as she quickly lets go of her and spun around to face her.
"Never, and I repeat never go in that room again! Do you hear me?!"
"What's wrong with that room?"
"...You listen to me girl, you will obey every command I tell you, you may never enter into that room, never go out of this manor unless I tell you, and absolutely never enter into the west wing of this place…Do I make myself clear?"
She suddenly remembered the Beauty and the Beast story she read a long time ago, of how Belle was trapped in the castle and could never go to the west wing. Serenity suppressed her smile in her mind as she nodded her head,
"Very clear, Sir…"
He arched his brow as he looks down at the girl but she doesn't say anything else,
"Have you unpack everything?"
"Yes."
"Good, follow me Miss Aragon."
He turned to walk out of her room with his robes bellowing around him as if they had a mind of their own, giving him a cat like grace. She rolled her eyes as she quickly followed him out as they walked out through the hallway. As they walked they turned to the stairway down and went to the back of the mansion, passed the kitchen and walked into a dark room behind a heavy wooden door. He flicked his wand in the air to make the candles flicker with gentle flames as it appeared to be a wine cellar and by the looks of it, had quite a selection as well. He walked that further to the very end of the wine cellar and there was a steel door with a black metal dragon in front of it. It hissed as Snape says,
"Pureblood."
The dragon crooned it's head as the whole door opened up to allow them to enter inside. Right as they entered the door slammed shut behind them, making it so dark, she couldn't even see her own hands that she held in front of her. Suddenly lights flickers around from candles as she squinted her eyes to adjust with the sudden light.
It was a musty place with desks full of chemicals and such on one side and the other with mats that had the pattern for dueling. She placed her hand on the stone walls as they walked down as she glanced to see a few scratch markings on the walls. She didn't ask as they reached the mats as he turned back to her.
Severus Snape's POV
He turned to look at the young girl as the flickers of gentle flames engulfs the room, creating a soft dim room. He brought the girl to the Prince family training room, where apparently his great grandfather would train young men to become the best of the dark arts, charms, and potions. He stared at the young girl before him as her wavy hair was a gentle brown in the light and her skin glowing as her emerald eyes flicker back at his. So far she has been quite obedient but now was his time to see if he can crack into her mind to see her dark secrets.
He takes his wand and points it at her,
"Now...Before I do any sort of training I must see if I can trust you. Now that Dumbledore isn't here to protect you...Legilimens!"
"No!"
He pushed into her mind as he tried to penetrate inside, seeing her body fall onto the ground. He approached closer to peer inside as hard walls were placed. It was like a castle inside as he stuck into every corner, every inch around. He couldn't get inside.
"Stop it! You'll never enter inside, so give up! Ah!"
She screamed as she clutched her head in her hands as if trying to push him out. As he saw the entrance of entering he felt a harsh push as he was shoved out of her mind. He stumbled back and looked at the girl. Aragon struggled to sit up as she reached into her side to take out her wand, gripping it tight as she points back at him.
"Don't you dare do that again!"
She hissed as he pointed his wand back at her,
"Unfortunately for you, I am not that weak...Legilimens!"
He could hear her scream as he forced himself inside again, cracking through by hitting various places to try to weasel himself through the cracks.
"Please Severus!...It hurts!"
He looked at the girl and suddenly inhaled a breath as he saw red hair tumble around her face and pale eyes looking up at him in pain.
"Severus...Please,stop it...it hurts Sev..."
Severus lowered his wand for a slip moment as he lost his guard, breaking away from her mind. He was about to open his mouth when the girl suddenly extended her leg and kicked him from under, making him fall onto his back. She jumps on top of him with one hand to push his chest while the other held her wand against his throat as she looks down at him with fury in her emerald eyes.
"First rule in any combat situation...Never let your guard down."
He then quickly grabbed her wrist and twists it behind her back as he placed his wand against the side of her temple, sitting up as he place his face only inches away from hers.
"...No...The first rule is to never underestimate your opponent."
"Well Professor Snape...I guess for the time I'm here I feel we will get to know each other very well...But don't you dare try to pull that stunt with me again."
"...I assure you Miss Aragon...Though we have to live under one infernal roof, you will not get to hide anything from me."
He saw a flicker in her eyes of what appeared to be fear as they hardened over. She moved her face a bit closer to feel her breath against his face, leaving only an inch of room between them as she whispers,
"We shall see…Professor."
Sirius Black's POV
At first he didn't mind being in the house so much, but now it was depressing without Serenity. It brought him back to horrible memories of his childhood, how much he had to endure.
"Alright, enough is enough!"
He saw the raven haired woman by the door as he sat by the fire.
"What do you mean?"
"You have been mopping around like a sat puppy in this place! I am taking you out."
"…If you haven't noticed, I am a convicted murder by the eyes of the public."
"Not for long."
Morgana pointed her wand at him and before he could say anything, he was transformed into a little door mouse. Sirius was furious, he trusted her and now she was going to do something for him.
Luckily for him it wasn't the case at all. Morgana placed him in her satchel where she even made one side slightly meshed so he could see outside.
"Look, I'm not trying to kill you. I'm trying to let you have some fresh air. Now stop squeaking and we can go out. Let me just get valiant to guide me."
Sirius gave a gruff little squeak as he noticed Valiant come up to her and actually used his body to guide her to Serenity's room. He picked up his collar and leash to give to her, letting her take it and got him ready. Morgana said good bye to Kreacher before leaving, making Sirius hiss slightly.
After they left the house, he saw through the mesh and saw the outside world. He remembered some old and new sights.
A lot has changed in twelve years…
He thought to himself. Soon he saw her go into a little farmers' market to buy a few things. Valiant acted like a guide dog and helped Morgana navigate through the narrow street. Sirius noticed that Morgana would walk over to a stall when someone was yelling out something they were selling. Or course the seller would assist and let her try a sample before she would buy it. A few times she would actually sneak a bit of food, from a piece of pastrami to a fresh piece of mozzarella into the bag for him to nibble. As she was done, she walked over to a near by park with a little pond. Not many people were there so she quietly let Sirius out to let him rest on her lap while Valiant wandered close by, sniffing at a few plants here and there. She leaned her back against a large tree as she says to him,
"See? I wasn't going to do anything bad to you."
Sirius gave another squeak, wishing he could talk to her properly. He saw her look around before taking out her wand and tapping him. Soon he was back into his human form, laying over her lap. She swiftly took out a pair of glasses and placed them over his eyes. He quickly sat up next to her, blushing slightly.
"Sorry about that…Give a man some warning next time."
She chuckles as she takes out a box of crackers, cheese, and a tomato. She took out a simple plate she got from the house to place the snacks on it, while Sirius opened up the box to pop one of the crackers into his mouth. She reached into her pocket of her jacket to take out a little pocket knife and sliced up the cheese and tomatoes.
"You planned all this?"
"Of course. As much as Albus says its better for you to be hidden, if I don't let you out you'll go mad…I know I certainly would. Especially with some insane yelling lunatic of a painting in that house all the time. No offense."
He laughed as he replied,
"None taken… She really does have a way with words my mother."
"That's your mother? I could only imagine what the rest of the family is like."
Sirius gave out another chuckle as he leaned back against the tree next to her. He reached up to take the glasses off but she quickly says,
"I placed a charm on those glasses to allow you to be in disguised. It won't change your voice but it at least makes your face look different from everyone else. They only last a hour unfortunately."
"Ah…I though you placed them over me as a sad excuse of a disguised. Thank you for not poking my eye out while placing these on. If I didn't know any better I would say you're not blind. "
"Oh I wish I wasn't. I wish I could see how ugly your disguise looks right now."
"You can't hide all of this handsomeness from a silly charm dear."
"Hopefully I made an appearance to match that sparkling personality of yours."
They both laughed after their banter. They continued to talk a bit before Sirius brought something up,
"When will you be checking up on Serenity?"
"Hm…In three days or so? Why do you ask?"
"While you're gone…Could I give you a letter to send?"
"A letter to Serenity?"
"No…To Harry."
He watched her quietly eat her little cracker, while Valiant trotted over to Sirius to rub his head against his hand. Sirius gave the beast a slice of tomato before hearing the woman reply.
"…I understand you want to reconnect with Harry, but know this is a dangerous game your playing."
"This isn't a game."
"Well not for you but for others? It is. You're playing with not only your life, but Harry's as well. If they catch him with the letter, what then?"
He stared out at the pond before heading a long sigh from Morgana.
"…I'll help…Just make sure you sign it under another name. One that only Harry would know about, but just warning you. If you want what's best for Harry, try to make sure you have very little contact with him as possible."
Sirius stiffly nodded before quietly resuming back to their little make shift picnic, enjoying the fresh air with what little time he had left. She turned him back into a little door mouse and slowly walked to his dreadful home. Valiant guided them back, making sure to stop when it wasn't the time to cross, or nudge Morgana if other people were going to bump into her. Right when they got home, she took him out of the bag. Morgana took her wand out and turned him back to normal with Valiant barking playfully. Sirius chuckled while Morgana walked down the hallway,
"Oh, Morgana?"
She turned to him but not directly. It looked as if she wasn't sure where he was as he says clearly,
"Thank you for today."
She gave a small smile before turning back to the dining room, most likely going to the kitchen to put the food away. Sirius went up to go check up on Buckbeak, thinking about the day. While Sirius was able to spend sometime outside as a few man, Serenity was getting a different treatment back at the Prince Manor.
