Lloyd's POV
I couldn't believe my eyes…
The creep actually had the nerve…to ask Kennedy…my GIRLFRIEND to DATE HIM!
But surly she won't say yes, right? Right?! RIGHT?!
Wrong…
Kennedy's POV
I don't know what came over me. The boy in front of me had just proposed to me. My mind raced with thoughts. "He LIKES me? But…I thought we were just friends! Everything that he's done, given me, showed me, was all just to win over my HEART?!" I had to ponder this for a moment. I looked at Rack. He was biting his lip with his eyebrows curled upward. His ruby-red eyes stared into mine and into my soul. Despite the creepy color, it was a bit cute seeing him like this. But I had to trust my instincts.I went straight for a no but…
"Yes!" That's what came out instead.
"Really?" Rack's smile was gigantic. He sprang to his feet and threw his arms around me. "Kennedy, you've made me the happiest boy in the world!"
The people around us start clapping and cheering. I looked around and saw so many happy smiling faces. I want to look horrified but instead I smiled back. A lump came up in my throat. I felt sick to the stomach.
"What have I done?"
Later…
Normal POV
People started leaving the restaurant until only the three teens had remained. Earlier the waiters brought out a special dinner fit for a couple. Kennedy and sat across from Rack. He didn't really eat very much because of two reasons. You can already guess one of them. The other was that his attention was too attracted to the girl clad in raspberry pink. She didn't really eat either. Because her stomach had done so many flips, it twisted into a knot. The figure sitting behind them, though half his face was covered by his hood, he looked like he was about to blow his top and strangle anyone who came near him. And that was exactly what he intended to do. However, not to just anyone, but to one orange clad boy in particular.
Kennedy couldn't take it anymore. The atmosphere around her was too much to take in. The knot in her stomach had tightened. She threw her hands to her mouth, jumped to her feet and ran out the restaurant to who knows where. She just wanted to throw up in a place where no one would see or hear her.
Rack just sat there, dumbfounded for a few moments then got up and ran after her. He chased her down the street until he lost sight of Kennedy. The red-head stopped to rest, bent over with his hands on his knees and panted. A street light above him flickered on. What had he done wrong? He thought this was all going smoothly into a perfect night. Perhaps he was too far forward with his request. Kennedy didn't seem to mind it at all at first but then-
"HEY, YOU!"
Rack spun around. A boy in a black hoodie stood a few yards away from him. "Not another step." He pulled back his hood to reveal a mop of messy blonde hair and emerald green eyes. His mouth was turned down in a scowl as he set his glare upon the other across from him.
The green ninja.
Rack had caught a glimpse of him when he took Kennedy out. He must've followed them.
"I know what you're up to. I know what you did to Kennedy. I've been tracking her every move a while ago, and now she lead me to you! Your careless mistakes have helped me figure this all out! I now know what Kennedy's been dealing with for the past few months and I know who you are! I KNOW JUST WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE!"
Rack just stood there in surprise under a street light. The sun had set long ago and the sky was already pitch black with many white dots beginning to shine. The clouds had parted and revealed the full moon. Its white rays shown down on the ground, lighting up the sidewalk only a little. Racks surprised expression twisted into one so sinister. The boy's frown stretched into a long toothy grin that stopped right under his cheekbones. His teeth were now visible and his two long canines gleamed under the street light. "Oh Lloyd," Rack said as he ditched his sunglass and (oddly enough) his hoodie. His irises turned to slits that resembled a snake's. He was deathly pale although taking up almost all the space in the middle of his chest was a large black tattoo of a demonic dragon. Several other markings went down to the lower torso and up his arms. "You really know how to stalk someone, don't you?"
The once confident Lloyd, who'd shown no fear, was now at a loss for words. He took a step back, taken aback by the horrifying sight in front of him. The atmosphere around them had darkened and turned even more nerve-wrecking. But he couldn't show his fear. Not in this situation. He needed to stay strong. He needed to save Kennedy from this nocturnal being.
But those blood red eyes told him otherwise.
"What's the matter, chosen one? You look a bit green over there." Rack stalked forward and out from under the street light. Wind started to blow and a chill went down Lloyd's spine. He shivered. When he looked back up, he couldn't see the boy anymore. He only saw piercing red eyes, a grin as white as snow, and a dragon tattoo that was now glowing red.
Rack slowly walked closer to Lloyd as what looked like black feathers created a vortex around him. And while inside that vortex, his body began to morph into something so disgusting, horrific, indescribable. His deathly pale skin had turned black, his fangs grew longer and sharper, his body seemed to stretch, even his hair deepened into a darker shade of red. The thumping of his converse was replaced by what sounded like metal clicking against concrete. This happened all the while the dragon glowed redder and redder.
Lloyd felt the boy's…no… the monster's presence grow closer and closer. He couldn't move. He wanted to but couldn't. It was almost as if the being in front of him was holding him in place. "I can smell your fear, Lloyd." He said in a demonic voice. "It smells delicious." Suddenly, Lloyd felt a burst of energy.
"Stay away…STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY FROM KENNEDY! STAY AWAY FROM BOTH OF US!" A green ball of energy formed in his hands and Lloyd threw it at the monster. Unfortunately for him, a hand reached out and caught the orb. The light from it made the hand visible for Lloyd to see. The hand was pitch black with even blacker claws sharper than a wolverine's. "My turn…" The monster said as the ball of energy turned blood red.
The beast drew back its arm and was about to throw the energy ball back at Lloyd when a scream echoed around the whole street. It stopped in the middle of a throw. Caught off guard, the orb of energy disintegrated and the demonic beast morphed back into the pale, lanky, red eyed boy, a mixture of realization and terror on his face.
He had completely for gotten about Kennedy…
