6 Hours Earlier

Emily played with her finger nervously as she and her partner drove to the hospital. After read those folders that her partner had given to her, she felt extremely uncomfortable. Not just she now knew who the real killer is but also disgusted by the possible reason of the murder.

"You okay?" Her partner asked, as he noticed the worried expression on the younger officer's face.

Emily nodded and then sighed. "Yeah, I just couldn't believe that we already manipulated by him. Remind me of old times." She mumbled the last part.

Anthony raised his eyebrows. "Don't let your opinion ruin the fact officer. Sometimes I still feel like it, but I have to accept that the fact is sometimes unbelievable than we thought."

Emily nodded. "I know. I just don't know how to tell their family about this. One is dead and one is the killer."

Anthony sighed. "You don't have to do that if you don't feel like it."

"I can do it." Emily said quickly.

Anthony glanced at his partner. "Okay, but if you need help, just give me a signal. You know what I mean." He smirked.

Emily chuckled. "Yeah, I know what you mean."

They both glanced at each other before bursting out laughing. Anthony shook his head slowly as he tried to hold back the laughter, but the inside joke that they made a couple days ago already making them bond despite their lack of time.

"Okay, we are here." Anthony said as they parked their car on the hospital parking lot.

"Do we just wait here or what? We can't make an arrest now." Emily said.

"I know. Let's hope that I still have the discharge paper on my bag." He said while he reached the bag under the backseat.

Emily frowned. "Discharge paper?"

"Never heard about it?" He said while continued to search the bag on his lap.

"Well I have but I found it normal when they are inside the hospital not in a police backpack." Emily narrowed her eyes.

"Let's just say I got it from a friend when I move back here and I wanted to get out from this hospital so badly." He shrugged.

"What do you mean?" Emily frowned in confusion.

"When I first arrived at this town, I got a food poisoning and being admitted here. Well, I have a friend here who knew that I didn't have much time to be in this hospital so he 'lent' me a few of manual discharge paper and I discharged myself." He said nonchalantly.

Emily's eyes widened. "What? Isn't that illegal?"

"Truthfully it is but we can do it if that feel necessary and I won't get my friend into trouble because he already moved to another state."

"But still, it is illegal." Emily stated.

"Yeah I know but I would really appreciate it if you don't tell anybody about this." He said firmly.

"Why? I should have to. It's against the hospital policy." Emily argued.

"Well… uh….." He rubbed the back of his head slowly.

"Is this had anything to do with you being afraid with syringe?" Emily teased.

"Kind of….." He mumbled slowly.

Emily's jaw dropped before she laughed spontaneously and covered her mouth quickly as Anthony glared at her.

"Are you seriously telling me that the great Mark Anthony is afraid of a little syringe?" Emily asked while chuckling.

"I'm not afraid of it. I'm just afraid of what might be happened to me if I am being injected with the substance inside it." He said defensively.

"But still it's funny." Emily said while continue chuckling.

"If this going out of public, I swear I'm gonna be the first to kick you out of the department." He said sternly.

"Don't worry detective, your secret safe with me." She said while motioning to zip her mouth shut. "No one is going to find out." She winked.

"Better keep it that way." He said firmly before turning back his attention to search the discharge paper on his bag. "Aha! There it is!" He exclaimed while pulling out a stack of papers.

"Do we really need to use that?"

He nodded. "Call the station, have a backup within 25 minutes at least. I'm going to discharge him. After you done, come inside and find me." He ordered.

"I got it." Emily said while dialled the station number from her phone.

After her partner get out from the car, Emily quickly brought her phone next to her ear as the other voice on the line answered the call.

"Philly PD, I'm Officer Johnson, what can I help you?" A young man answered.

"Hey Josh, this is Emily Fields." Emily replied casually.

"Oh, Officer Fields, what can I help you?"

"I need 2 cars send to Philly community hospital within 25 minutes. We are going to make an arrest." Emily explained.

"Which case?" Josh asked.

"Adam Tyler, his case admitted 2 weeks ago."

"Okay, let me see first. Hold the call, please." He said while typing something to the computer. "Ah! Adam Tyler, murdered 2 weeks ago and his uncle is arrested 3 days ago for attacking you, shot the victim's boyfriend and a possible suspect in this case, am I correct?" He asked.

"Yes, that's the one." Emily exclaimed.

"Hold up though, who are you going to arrest?" Josh asked curiously.

Emily sighed. "You're not going to believe it but the killer is his long distance cousin A.K.A his ex-boyfriend."

Josh scrunched his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"It turns out that James Trebles the boyfriend of the victim somehow related to the victim in some ways. Detective Anthony figured it out, can you please send the back up now?" Emily said impatiently.

"Okay, sorry to bother. I'm sending 2 cars right now." He said while pushing the quick button on his desk.

"Thank you Josh." Emily said while hanging up the call and get out from the car before walked inside the hospital.

She quickly spotted her partner beside the nurse desk and scribbling down on some papers. She quickly approached him and patted his shoulder.

"Are you done?" She asked.

He glanced at Emily and grinned. "Almost, the old trick does work."

"Do they believe you once you show them the discharge paper?" She asked while grinned as well.

"Yeah, but it took a little convincing but it was worth it." He chuckled.

Emily chuckled as well. "Okay, now get back to business. When is he going to be released? I'm dying to bring him to court."

"I don't know, maybe after the insurance paid the tax then we can have him."

Emily was about to speak again when the nurse running behind them and looked pale all of sudden. "Detective…." She said, clearly almost out of breath.

Both Emily and Anthony turn around and frowned. "Whoa, slow down. What is going on?" Anthony asked.

"The patient…..Mr. Trebles….. He is gone!" She exclaimed in panic.

Emily took a step forward and narrowed her eyes "What do you mean by gone?" Emily demanded.

"When I told him that you are going to be discharging him, he said that he agreed but when I left to pick up some forms and when I returned, he was gone." She said in panic.

"Gone as in really gone?" Anthony asked firmly.

The nurse nodded weakly. Anthony looked at Emily wide eyed and then he nodded before quickly ran outside followed shortly by Emily.

"Where the heck did he go?" Anthony asked while looking around at the parking lot.

"Well, where is the possibility he could go? He can't go far as long as he doesn't have a car." Emily said quickly.

"I'll take the left wing you take the right. Back up should be here any minute." He said before running to the other direction of the hospital.

Emily quickly nodded as she ran to the other side of the hospital, carefully looking around and searching for any signs of James Trebles. Once she reached the middle of the right wing, she stopped to catch her breath. That's when she spotted a certain figure running while zipping up her jacket but it is obvious when she noticed the color of the hospital gown hidden behind it. Despite of her needs of air, she quickly running after him.

"Mr. Trebles!" She shouted.

The figure glanced at Emily's direction and quickly run after he realized who was after him. He glanced around his surrounding until he noticed a car just pulled and the driver just about to get out from the car, he quickly ran towards the car and pulled the driver out and slammed him down to the ground. "Get the fuck off!"

Emily stopped when she saw that James was about to run away. Emily quickly reached for her car that currently parked not too far from her current position. She sprinted to her car as she saw James pullet out from the driveway and crashing the pole on the way out.

Emily turned on her walkie talkie and input the code as she started her car and quickly followed the car that James' drove.

"This is 512, requesting backups following CHZ-2789. Suspects driving the car, copy." Emily informed.

"Affirmative, 2 units following after you." The other voice answered.

Emily speed up the car until she reached the main street with busy people among the roadside. James felt his palm glittering with sweats as he kept glancing at the rearview mirror to the car behind him. He quickly opened the dashboard in hope to find a weapon. His wish is granted. There is a gun full of bullets on the barrel.

The street almost as busy as ever but he couldn't make an escape if it turned out that way. He quickly pulled over near a construction site by the corner of the streets. He took the gun with him as he ran inside the construction site.

Emily quickly pulled over too and noticed the gun on James' hand. He quickly dialled her partner number on the walkie talkie.

"Officer Fields to Detective Anthony, situation is Code 1, copy." She said while walked quickly to the construction site.

"Copy, where are you?" He asked through the device.

"Construction site, you know where it is."

"Hold on, back up is coming." He replied.

Emily jog to the construction site and she glanced around, looking for a sign of James which she quickly spotted running on the corner near a truck that parked over there. She should have waited for back up but instead she found herself walked towards him.

On the other side, James quickly catches his breath and gripping the gun tightly. He peeked and noticed that Emily walked slowly while she took her gun out.

"Well, this is war." He whispered to himself while loading up the gun.

Emily, unaware of what is going to coming quickly startled when she heard a gunshot and then she realized that the bullet hit the ground just below her.

"Shit." She cursed. She quickly looked up and saw James was about to shot her again.

Emily fired a shot and hit just near James' face.

"Fuck the cops!" He yelled while abruptly shot at Emily's direction.

Emily widened her eyes as she quickly took a cover behind a pile of metals.

"To anyone who can hear this, 512 requesting backup immediately." Emily talked to her walkie talkie.

"526 and 527 on our way, hold on." The other voice replied.

Emily decided to stay there and not moving at all until the firing stopped. Emily quickly rethinks about what Spencer had said to her earlier. Be Safe. She is not going to do anything stupid at this situation.

Meanwhile, the gun on James' hand finally ran out of bullet. "Fuck." He cursed. He glanced around and found a crowbar. He quickly took it and gripped it tightly.

Emily noticed that the firing has stopped and she quickly got up from her position. She drew her gun and looked straight to where James currently hiding. "You better get out now and put your hands behind your head." Emily shouted.

James still gripping the crowbar tightly while he vaguely heard the police sirens coming closer. He can't think anymore, he get out from his hideout and sprinted towards Emily with full speed and raised his crowbar above his head and swing forward to Emily.

The police was too late to realize what was happening, the crowbar hit her upper arm quickly and a seconds later she was screaming and she fell to the ground holding her arm.

James stared at her furiously and about to strike again when she saw that Emily's gun laying next to her. "Well, it's not your lucky day." He said while grabbing Emily's gun. "It's my lucky day. I hope you would at least think faster."

"You kill your family, and now you wanna kill a cop? How a psycho you are." Emily spat.

James laughed. "The moment I realized that Adam is one of my families, I couldn't handle myself, he was going to break up with me. That's when I decided to end it at all."

"It doesn't make sense to me." Emily said while holding her pain.

"Adam and his fifthly uncle knew that. They threatened me about that. I took matters into my own hands."

"If that so, what is the benefit you got from there?"

"Nothing." He chuckled. "Alright, times up. I'm in no mood for this." He said while drew the gun right to Emily's face. "I hope you would rest in peace. I promise it won't take long."

Emily could feel fear throughout her body as she stared at the gun and the smirking James. With one last breath, she closed her eyes and heard a gunshot. No, it's 3 gunshots.

Emily felt a sharp pain towards her stomach and then she heard multiple footsteps come closer to her.

"Officer Fields, are you okay?"

Emily can't open her eyes. She gripped on of her fellow police hand and heard him shouted "Call the ambulance!", before losing her conscious.
