The ride back to the farm was silent. A part of Nancy had wanted to ask Scott what he thought about her, a bigger part thought it was probably better not to know. Which was probably a good thing, since she had a lot to think about. For one thing, why did it matter to her what Scott's opinion of her was? And why was she suddenly more aware than ever that he was attractive? The answer to both was one simple word.
Bess.
It was her fault for talking about Scott's cuteness. At least… that's what the sleuth hoped.
