The Reckoning Part One
Stefan woke up again in the truck. Thalia was sat down next to him looking up at someone, he looks at the direction Thalia was looking at and saw Rebekah.
"Oh, he lives." The tall blond says, Thalia looked down and saw Stefan attempting to sit up so she got up herself and helped him to his feet.
"What happened?" He asked, leaning on Thalia until his head cleared.
"You took a beating. My brother's been breaking your neck all afternoon. Quite the temper." Rebekah continued.
"Why did he bring us back to Mystic Falls?" Stefan asked, Thalia nearly laughed at the act he still had on, it was pretty obvious Klaus had caught on their little play.
"You can stop playing dumb now. It didn't take him long to figure out what you've been hiding."
Stefan was now standing without Thalia's help. "I'm not hiding anything. I've done everything Klaus has asked me to."
"No, you just failed to mention that the doppelgänger's still alive."
Stefan's face changed supporting a worried look. "Where is Klaus now?"
"With any luck, ripping that cow's bloody head off." Stefan who had already been staring at her only glared while Thalia's snapped up at speeds that could almost break some ones neck.
Before Thalia had time to acknowledged, Stefan had rushed to Rebekah which only made them fall out of the truck.
"Where is she?" He asked when they got back up.
"You really do love her, don't you?" Rebekah pushed Stefan against the truck and picked up a crowbar. "Consider me jealous." She shouted then drove the crowbar through his stomach.
Thalia had left shortly after Rebekah did after removing the crowbar from Stefan's stomach, he hadn't woken up yet but she had to find Klaus and stop him from hurting these people.
She had finally got there and inside the gym when she was met by a room full of cups, two teenagers she had never met (the girl was only standing on one foot), Klaus with Elena standing next to him.
"Keep it up." Klaus said still not knowing Thalia was standing behind him.
"Where's Stefan? What did you do to him?" Elena asked.
"Stefan's on a time out." Klaus answered her.
Thalia was still watching silently, not knowing what to do when she heard the gym doors open and Mat and Bonnie stepped through. At the sound of the doors opening Klaus turned and was shocked to see Thalia there, how long was she down there for? He thought.
"Bonnie, get out of here!" Elena shouted.
Klaus tried to ignore the fact that Thalia was there, he couldn't have them knowing she was his weak spot, vampires aren't supposed to have weak spots. "Ah, I was wondering when you'd show up. Now we can get started." He turned back to Dana. "Ah, Dana, why don't you relax? You and Chad sit tight." He turned back to bonnie, still ignoring Thalia. "I assume you're the reason Elena's still walking around alive?"
"That's right. If you want to blame someone, blame me." Bonnie said confidently.
"Oh, there's no need for blame, love. Just your witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects. And since you caused the problem, I'm going to have you find the fix." Just as Klaus said that Rebekah walked in holding Tyler.
"Get off of me!"Tyler shouted, wrenching his arm away from her.
"Hush now." She said back keeping a strong grip on him.
"I'd like you all to meet my sister Rebekah. Word of warning... She can be quite mean."
"Don't be an ass." Rebekah shot back and threw Tyler at him who Klaus caught expertly.
"Leave him alone!" Elena shouted getting closer to Klaus but stopping when he started to speak.
"I'm going to make this very simple... Every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. It's quite horrible, actually." Klaus then bit his own wrist and pressed hard against Tyler's mouth, making him drink his blood. "I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie. And for Tyler's sake... You better hurry." He then killed him in front of everyone, including Thalia.
Elena, Matt and Bonnie looked at Klaus with shocked faces and he smiled at that but then his eyes landed on Thalia and his smile fell once again, that had happened a lot lately and he didn't understand why this girl had such an effect on him, he didn't understand why his heart leaped every time he made her smile, he didn't understand why her disappointed look made him feel almost guilty and then he really thought about, maybe not the best moment to think about his feelings but now he had started he couldn't stop and he realised, he was in love, he fell in love with the little girl he met all those years ago and he couldn't remember the last time he felt this way.
He wanted to do everything to take that disappointed look away from her face but he couldn't, he couldn't stop now and he had a reputation to hold and so he pushed his feelings away for the moment and carried on with his plan.
Tyler was lying on the floor motionless while Matt sat next to him. "He killed him." Matt said, still staring at Tyler.
"He's not dead. Klaus's blood will turn him into a vampire." Elena explained.
"And if Bonnie's successful, he'll live through his transition. Go on, then. Go and fetch your grimoires. and enchantments and what-not. I'll hold on to Elena... For safe-keeping." Klaus announced not looking at Thalia, he couldn't look at her disappointed face, it hurt too much.
He moved to Elena and caught her arm, Elena made a sign with her hand to Bonnie who then left with Matt.
Rebekah turned to Elena. "So this is the latest doppelgänger. The original one was much prettier."
"Enough, Rebekah. Take the wolf boy elsewhere, would you?"
Rebekah picked up Tyler and walked away.
Klaus turned back to Elena. "Just ignore her. Petty little thing." Thalia who was still standing there felt her heart drop, throughout
the trip he had told her plenty of times that she was pretty maybe it was just because he wanted something, like he's doing now but Thalia couldn't think of what he wanted but the comment got her to look away from him.
Klaus looked at Thalia when Elena looked away from him. He saw Thalia looking down at the floor, her arms at her sides, her hands clenched. He couldn't help it but his eyes moved upwards and landed on her breasts, he really didn't mean to but the eye goes to movement and her breasts were moving very slowly, she was angry and was getting angrier by the minute, was this because he wasn't speaking to her maybe but he wasn't going to speak to her until she spoke to him.
Elena and Thalia were comforting Dana across the gym from Klaus when Stefan walked in.
"Stefan..." Elena said, moving towards him.
"Klaus." Stefan said not looking at Klaus.
"Come to save your damsel, mate?" Klaus said with a smile, trying his hardest not to look at Thalia but her not talking to him for this long was killing him.
"I came to ask for your forgiveness. And pledge my loyalty." Stefan said, which made Elena stop from walking to him.
Klaus cocked his eyebrow, as did Thalia. "Well, you broke that pledge once already."
"Elena means nothing to me anymore. And whatever you ask of me... I will do." Elena looked heartbroken at this while Thalia decided to glare at him, she had met too many girls with heart-break sure most of them were just about the guy not liking the girl back and rather stupid that a girl would just give up on love because of one guy but most of them were okay but what Stefan was doing to Elena, Thalia had heard to much of and she wouldn't stand for it, oh she was going to hurt him later.
"Fair enough. Let's drink on it. Kill them. What are you waiting for? Kill them." Klaus told him, Thalia's eyes widened and she stared at Klaus but said nothing.
"No! Stefan, don't. He's not going to hurt me. He already said..." Elena moved to Stefan again but Klaus hit her and she fell to the floor. Stefan rushed to Klaus, his fangs out. Klaus pushed him away and held Stefan by his throat. Thalia moved to Elena to make sure she was okay.
"She means nothing to you? Your lies just keep piling up."
"Let her go! I'll do whatever you want, you have my word!"
"Your word doesn't mean much. I lived by your word all summer, during which time I never had to resort to this..." Klaus looked into Stefan's eyes. "Stop fighting." He compelled him.
"Don't do this, don't do this." Stefan begged. Thalia watched she wasn't sure what to do except watch, she wanted to stop this but she didn't know how.
"I didn't want to. All I wanted was your allegiance. Now I'm going to have to take it."
"Don't...Don't..."
"You will do exactly as I say when I say it. You will not run, you will not hide, you will simply just obey." Klaus compelled, Thalia opened her mouth to say something but nothing would come out like in her many dreams and she wished desperately it was another one of her dreams but she knew it wasn't.
"No. Stefan!" Elena muttered, at least she could get something out, Thalia thought, standing there with her mouth still open.
"Now kill them. Ripper." Klaus told Stefan.
"Klaus." Thalia was finally able to get something out but it was barely a whisper but Klaus heard it none the less, he turned to her, his heart broke at the look on her face. He rushes to her as Stefan rushed to Dana, draining her of blood. When Klaus got to Thalia he took her chin in his hand and looked into her eyes, he saw tears forming in her eyes which was very uncharacteristic of her.
However their moment was interrupted by the sounds of Stefan finishing eating Dana and moving to Chad.
Thalia turned her head away so that Klaus was no longer holding it; she refused to look back at him. Klaus nearly glared at the side of her face. He walked away from her and stood in his original place and watched Stefan drain Chad of blood.
He loved her, he knew that but she kept shutting him out. She didn't know what she felt for him, it was all so new to her but how could she ever have any positive feelings for him if he kept killing so many innocent people.
Both their thoughts were interrupted when Rebekah entered and rushed toward Elena. "Where is it?! Where's my necklace?" she shouted.
"What are you talking about?" Klaus asked his sister.
"She has my necklace. Look." Rebekah took out Caroline's phone and showed it to him, on the screen was a picture of Stefan and Elena, Elena was wearing Rebekah's necklace.
"Well, well. More lies." Klaus looked at Stefan who was still on the floor watching the scene.
Rebekah was still glaring at Elena. "Where...is it?"
"I don't have it anymore." Elena cried.
"You're lying!" Rebekah vamped out and attacked Elena. Klaus rushed towards them and rips Rebekah away from Elena as she bites Elena.
"Knock it off!" He shouted.
Thalia wanted nothing but to run away from this but she knew she couldn't, Stefan needed her and so did Elena, she didn't know her that well but she knew Elena was kind person and didn't want her to suffer.
"Make her tell me where it is, Nik!"
Klaus turned to Elena who had her hand around her neck. "Where's the necklace, sweetheart? Be honest."
"I'm telling the truth. Katherine stole it." Elena said, Thalia had moved next to Elena now, she placed a hand on her shoulder and Elena jumped at the contact, having not been expecting it, she turned her head to Thalia who was slightly behind her but Thalia was looking at Klaus.
"Katerina. Of course. Well, that's unfortunate. If we had the necklace it would make things a whole lot easier for your witch, but since we're doing this the hard way, let's put a clock on it, shall we?"
The clock atop the stadium goes up and as it turns on the buzzer goes off.
"20 minutes. If Bonnie hasn't found a solution by then, I want you to feed again. Only this time, I want you to feed on Elena. You know you want to." Klaus turns to leave but Thalia catches his sleeve.
"Klaus, you can't do this!" Thalia shouted. He merely twisted his arm away from her grip but turned to her, "Stay out of this." He then turned back around and left and as he did he called out to Stefan.
"No one leaves. If she tries to run, fracture her spine."
Rebekah looked at them and left with Klaus.
There were now only six minutes left on the clock and Bonnie still hadn't found the solution.
"Caroline's dad! Stefan, he was able to resist compulsion. I don't know how, but he did it. Maybe it's possible." Elena tried.
"Yeah, yeah. Maybe it's just mind control, right? Maybe it just takes some focus, a couple decades of training. No big deal."
As they had their little dispute Thalia kept thinking of what Stefan had asked of her earlier, just after Klaus had left.
He had pulled her to the side when Elena wasn't looking and whispered in her ear, "Whatever you do, don't let me near Elena." He then let go of Thalia and kept his distance away from Elena.
"Stefan, you can control this. When that buzzer goes off, just... just drink from me."
"You don't get it. I can't stop, Elena! I'm a ripper! A ripper doesn't stop! I listen to the words that come out of your mouth, and all I hear is the sound of your heart pumping blood through your body. And when that clock ticks down... I'm going to have to feed on you. And you want to know what's worse? I'm not going to be able to stop."
"I don't believe that. You can fight it. You just have to want it bad enough."
"Why, because I love you?"
"Yeah! That's right, Stefan. Because you love me. You'll fight because after everything that we've been through, you owe me that!"
"You know what, you're right. You're right. I owe you everything. Because through all of this, you are the one thing that has kept me from giving up; from turning it all off. But I can't help what I am, Elena. The more blood that I get, the more I want, and if I get so much as near yours... You are dead."
Thalia was really going to have to keep him away wasn't she?
