Homecoming

Thalia was beginning to getting used to Klaus not being there but then when Stefan and Damon came back, telling her they had to bring Klaus back her heart fell a little, at the fact that they were going to try to kill Klaus again, but she knew she had to help, she may not have been here long but she cared for these people, other than Stefan she had never really gotten to know a 'monster' not that she was going to try and make friends with any dracnae or anything, she doubted they were capable of feeling anything since most monsters only cared if they got to eat themselves than others of their kind. But when she met Stefan she started to see maybe not all are like that, just like when Percy introduced to Tyson, or Ms O'Leary, but she was definitely surprised to find out vampires cared this much for humans, after being told of countless of how they tore through humans flesh and drank all their blood. But she got to know Stefan and now she met all his friends and she couldn't help but get attached to them, she wanted to help them all, even if Stefan no longer wanted to himself.

She wanted to protect them all as much as she could and the only problem was that the one threatening them was Klaus and even though she too cared about him deeply, he was the one harming her friends and so she had to help take him down, just like she helped take down Luke.

Stefan, Elena, Damon and Thalia were sorting out their plan to kill Klaus, even though it pained her, Thalia kept quiet about her feelings, hoping if she didn't acknowledge them they would float away, though of course that didn't work.

"All right, let`s say that Mikael followed Elena in here. He tried to grab her, so he could use her as bait." Stefan said as he walked down the hall and into the library.

"And you what? Vervained him?" Elena asked walking behind him. Stefan turned to her as Damon answered for him.

"No! We vervained him! This guy is an original. To make it realistic." Both he and Thalia stood behind Elena who turned to face Damon as he spoke.

"Ok. fine." Elena turned back to Stefan. "We vervained him, and in the process discovered that he had a dagger."

"Which he planned to use on Rebekah, but instead..." Elena continued.

"We drove it through his heart." Stefan finished.

"But it might be a bit more believable if we say Thalia did it." Damon announced, when Elena gave him a questioning look he continued. "He knows Thalia can fight and she is stronger than you, it sounds more believable if she were the one to stab him." Reluctantly Elena agreed with that and asked another question.

"And what happens when he asks to see Mikael´s body?"

"Good point!" Elena turned back to Damon and Thalia looked up at him. "You my brother have been compelled to do what Klaus says. So the idea is to lure him back here and kill him- last thing we need is you getting tripped up and tongue-tied."

Stefan shrugged. "Well, don't look at me I am just in charge of getting him back here."

"Klaus is smart, if we tell him that Mikael is dead, he'll want proof." Elena said.

"Then I shall be dead." Mikael said, walking in the library placing a dagger and a jar of white wood ash on a table. Stefan and Elena walked up to him while Damon and Thalia watched him from where they stood.

"What if he wants to see you in person?" Elena asked.

"Well that means our plan is working. Klaus will absolutely want to see my body. You lure him here- and I will kill him."

"With what? Those daggers won`t work on him." Stefan asked, motioning with his head to the dagger on the table.

"Well, I´m in possession of a stake fashioned from the wood of the ancient white oak tree. The one that left these ashes when it burned." Mikael said all this while unwrapping the dagger and opening the white ash jar.

"Where is it?" Damon asked.

"Not here. The knowing of its location is my insurance policy."

"Against what?" Stefan asked.

"You leaving this in my heart." Bringing up the dagger in his hand, the tip coated with the white oak ash. "You see, a vampire can´t dagger an original without dying. And since Stefan needs to see it happening to tell Klaus, it falls to you." Mikael finished looking at Thalia while holding the dagger out for her to take.

She looked at him for a while before moving towards, she stopped in front of him, still not taking the dagger. "You want me to stab you?"

"Klaus will leave nothing to chance- especially when it comes to trust."

With no more words Thalia took the dagger and shoved it into Mikael's chest, watching as his body fell to the ground already starting to grey and his veins started to pop out.

Stefan was sitting on a chair in the library, his phone is pressed to his ear as he waits for Klaus to pick up the phone.

Portland is fantastic. Once you get over all the whiny music and healthylooking people it is literally a breeding ground for werewolves.

"Your father is dead." Stefan replied, looking straight ahead of him.

What did you say to me?

"Oh, my mistake. Not your actual father and not dead. Mikael." Stefan looked down at his side where Mikael's grey, dead body lay. "Daggered. What do you want me to do with the body?"

Well, first I want you to explain to me exactly what happened.

Stefan told Klaus what the group had agreed to before he made the call, how Mikael came to kill Rebekah but attacked Elena instead, making Damon, Thalia and himself try to defend her and ended with Thalia stabbing him with the dagger he brought for Rebekah.

I want see him. I want to see his rotting body for myself.

"Well, he is here. Come by whenever."

If you are lying to me Stefan, your compulsion will expose you. So, answer with your life: Is what you are saying the truth?

"It´s true. I saw it with my own eyes."

I want talkto Rebekah.

"That´s not a problem. She is right here." Stefan hands the phone to Rebekah who stood away from them all.

"Hello Nik." She greeted.

Rebekah, love. What´s this I hear about Mikael´s tragic run in with the dagger?

"It´s true. He´s finally out of our lives for good. I miss you. I´m miserable here."

I´ll be home soon... say hello to Thalia for me. He added at the end almost like an afterthought.

"Okay. I'll see you then, brother." She hangs up the phone and turns to the others, but at the last minute she decides not to mention anything to Thalia, for some reason she felt jealous of this girl and her brother, maybe because he had found love and she hadn't, she could see it in the way he looked at her, but maybe she did it to spare the girls feelings, they were planning to kill her brother. "He bought it. He´s coming home." She handed Stefan his phone back and walked away.

"Now- was that easy or what?" Damon said.

Elena shook her head and walked to Mikael's body. "Let´s just get this over with." And she pulled out the dagger from his chest.

Damon and Thalia were in Damon's bathroom preparing wolfsbane grenades for the fight, while Elena was in his bedroom sorting some other weapons out.

"We can't trust Rebekah not to turn on us." Elena mentioned from the bedroom.

"Oh really? Cause these Original vampires are usually so reliable."

"Bonnie was right." Elena said quietly but raised her voice for the next part. "Rebekah may be mad at Klaus now but - he is her brother."

"Her lying, mama- killing, dagger- happy brother. Wolfsbane is ready." Thalia frowned at Damon's response, it hurt her already to help them make the weapons that would harm Klaus and help them execute their plans but Damon was making it a lot harder.

Elena joined them in the bathroom. "There are too many things that can go wrong with this plan. Too many people that can make it go wrong."

"Well, I am formulating a secret contingency plan." Damon said, Thalia already knew of it, and it seemed strange that Damon was letting her in on so many of his plans that he doesn't even tell Elena but then she just gathers that he needs someone to know in case he isn't able to finish the plan.

Elena turned to him. "Really? What is it?" she asked.

"Well, if I told you, then it wouldn't be a secret." He nodded his head to outside the room but Elena only gave him a confused look back until she saw Stefan walking into the bathroom.

"I need to borrow a tie."

"You have your own ties." Damon said not looking away from his work.

"Hm- I'm a 162 year old and I'm going to a Homecoming Dance. I need better ties."

"You could not go." Elena added, looking at him.

"I'm compelled to protect you. And if I look at your track record at Highschool Dances, it's pretty tragic. With my luck you'll go and get yourself murdered by the Homecoming Queen..." Stefan walks away and Elena turns back to the sink and picks up a wolfsbane grenade and Damon hits her hand. "Ah, no!"

"I know how to do it! Alaric taught me!" she said trying to keep the hold on it but lost to Damon's incredible strength and he ended up taking it away.

"Elena! If this thing blows up in our face, just remember: only one of us heals quickly."

"Ah, please tell me that you have a better plan than wolfsbane grenades?"

"Never your mind, brother. The less you know the better." Damon said, closing the lid to the grenade in his hands.

"My freedom from Klaus rests entirely upon you two executing your plan perfectly. So, excuse me if I'm a bit cynical."

Elena watched his reflection in the mirror walking away. "You're the one that we should be worried about. If Klaus asks you one wrong question, whole thing falls apart."

"You do have reason to worry, but if I look back in our history of epic plan failures, it's usually because one of us let our humanity get in the way. Upon taking odds on how this thing goes down, it's certainly not gonna be me who screws it up." He momentarily looks Elena up and down before his gaze moves on to Thalia who was still finishing off some grenades, not paying attention to him and he wondered if her feelings for Klaus would get in the way. "I'll see you at Homecoming. I can't wait." He then left the room.

Damon looked down at Thalia who seemed especially quiet with a frown on her face.

"So, Thalia, what are you wearing to homecoming?" He asked.

Thalia looked up at him through the corner of her eye before resting her eyes back on the grenade and answering him. "I'm not going." She said.

"What?" Elena asked while Damon merely nodded.

"We all know I have feelings towards Klaus, though I'm not sure myself what they are just yet but I know if I go I might be the cause this whole plan goes downhill." Thalia answered, not looking at Elena. "I'm sorry, but I can't go."

Katherine disguised as Elena and Thalia were walking down the corridor in the Salvatore house, with Caroline on the phone.

"So, does that mean I don't have to go?" Katherine asked keeping up with the plane they had thought of before. after being told that the school was in no shape to host homecoming.

You wish! No, Tyler is moving the party to his house.

"Kegs and beerpong for Homecoming? That's- different..." Katherine said smiling softly at Thalia's confused face.

Just say you're still coming?!

Someone knocks on the front door. "I'll see you there." She hang up the phone as Thalia moved towards the door and opened it, looking up at someone. Katherine walks in behind her to see Matt in a tuxedo.

"Elena..." He greets.

"Matt... Hey." Katherine greets back, making sure to keep up the pretence.

"Hey."

"Umm- slight problem with your Homecoming date." Elena said as Thalia moved away from the door and let Elena and Matt talk.

She had been told what Elena did to Rebekah already so it was no surprise to her.

Her mind went back to Klaus something it had done quite a lot now. She couldn't help it, sometimes it was just remembering the way he smiled or the way he looks at her, but mostly it goes back to the kiss. She still wasn't sure about that, she liked it that's for sure and she felt incredibly guilty when she and Luke kissed, maybe, just maybe she already knew of her feelings for Klaus but was too afraid to admit it. This was a guy who had killed hundreds and wouldn't even flinch at killing more, how could she ever trust him, why does she trust him.

She knows she loves him in a romantic way but that doesn't mean she likes being in love with him.

Damon and Thalia were in the library while everyone else was at the homecoming.

Damon poured himself a glass of blood as Mikael entered the room. Thalia refused to look at the man, after all he was the one trying to kill Klaus, but she too is helping him which just hurt her even more.

"Did my daughter go to the dance?"

"Yep - you missed the photo op. Did you get the stake?"

"I did."

"I'm not gonna take your word for it. No offense to your honour and all..."

"None taken." He pulled out a stake from a pocket inside his jacket, Thalia's curiosity won out and she looked up at his hands but refused to look into his face. The stake was truly beautiful, it was neatly shaped and patterned and its beauty almost made Thalia forget it was going to be used to kill Klaus, almost. It made her wonder how something so beautiful could kill anyone, but then again swords are the same way, being fashioned to perfection only to be used to maim others.

Damon pulled her out of her thoughts. "Fancy. May I?"

"It's the only weapon on this earth that can kill an original. So I think I'll hold on to it. No offense."

"I'd offer you a drink- but Katherine tells me you're more of a "vampire on the rocks" kind of guy." Damon said as Mikael put the stake away and Thalia looked away from him.

"Well, technically you could still offer."

"Why feed on vampires? Don't tell me it's for the smooth after taste."

"I had a hand in creating vampires, but bloodlust was never my intention. Over the centuries I learned to feed from the predator, not the innocent." Mikael then looked at Thalia who was leaning against the table behind her, her arms crossed below her chest and her head turned towards the floor.

Mikael knew what she was, but he wasn't sure why she hadn't killed the Salvatore brothers yet, he knew of the demigods killing monsters like himself, he has encountered some too.

"Who is your godly parent?" he asked. her head snapped up.

"Excuse me?"

"I know you're a demigod child, now who is your parent."

Thalia finally looked at his face and she was horrified to see how much he looked like Elijah. She looked at him for a while before responding. "Zeus." She said.

"Ah king of the Greek gods. If you obtain his powers I believe the odds are on our side tonight."

"They would if she was coming." Damon added.

Thalia's eyes once again landed on the floor. Mikael didn't have to ask for the reason she wasn't coming; he could see it in her eyes, of course before she turned her gaze away. She was in love.

"How can you be in love with that monster?" He asked, Damon's head snapped to Thalia's direction, he hadn't heard anything about love.

"Are you not a monster yourself?" She asked, looking directly into his eyes. Before the conversation could go any further Stefan walked in.

"Change of plans. Klaus is back." Thalia's eyes snapped to Stefan as he said this. "He is at the Lockwood's and he wants your body delivered to his doorstep."

"I'm afraid he is in for a colossal disappointment." Mikael said.

"Well, he's certainly not gonna come here. I hope your plan didn't depend on that?"

"Didn't depend on that." Damon added quickly, barely batting an eyelash.

"But you do have a plan, right?" Stefan asked, looking over Mikael's shoulder at Damon.

Damon took a gulp of blood. "Oh, yeah. We have a plan, right. Just doesn't involve you." Mikael's face changed, his veins popped out a dark purple and his eyes went dark, his fangs slid out and he moved so quick that Stefan had barely any time to understand what was happening. Mikael rushed at Stefan and bit into his neck, drinking his blood. just as quick as it started, Mikael dropped Stefan's body to the ground.

"You couldn't just break his neck?" Still standing in the same spot he had been before, watching his brother's body. Thalia watched him too.

"Well that certainly occurred to me." Mikael said, while wiping his face with a handkerchief. He walked out of the room as Damon and Thalia watched after him. Damon put down his drink before patting Thalia on the back.

"You gonna be okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." He nodded then moved away from her to his jacket, holding it under his arm as he grabbed a bag from the sofa; he gave both Thalia and Stefan one last look before leaving the house.

It had been a while after Damon had left and Thalia had moved to her room, she didn't want to look at Stefan's lifeless body anymore.

She sat in her bed looking down at her hands where her necklace laid. The one with the four camp beads and a little, silver star, the one Klaus gave to her. The original chain that help the star broken many years ago, while on the hunt. She couldn't remember how she got it back then, but she always knew it was special.

Her thumb ran over the shining metal. Klaus was always kind to her as a child and she admired him. She loved back then, not the way she loves him now, but she did love him. Her mother was always rude and abusive and him being there made it a lot better. But when she thought of him back then she remembered that he and her mother had obviously had sex and that makes her feel slightly sick, especially when she thinks about how much older he is than her and then she remembers she won't have to deal with him after tonight, he is going to die tonight.

To keep her mind away from the events that were probably happening right at that moment, she grabbed the bag she had brought with her here and opened it. She started to pack her things inside the suitcase, thinking after Klaus was dead she didn't have to stay here and she could go back to Long island and be with her friends, sure yeah she made friends with Elena and Damon, and perhaps Bonnie and Caroline, but there really was no point in staying there.

She was dragged out from her thoughts when she heard something downstairs, she thought Stefan was starting to wake up and so she went back to the library to go help him out, a blood bag in hand.

When she got to the library however, she was surprised to see Katherine standing over Stefan helping him out, still in her party dress. Katherine looked back as Thalia walked in and before Thalia could say anything, she brought a vase up above Thalia's head and hit her with it. Thalia felt the world go dark as she fell unconscious.

When she came to, the first thing she saw was Elena's face above her and noticed that her head was placed on her lap. Thalia tried to sit up from Elena's lap but laid back down when she felt a stinging pain on the back of her head.

"Thalia! What happened? Are you alright?" Elena frantically asked. Thalia brought a hand to her head to feel bandages wrapped around it. "We found you lying on the floor unconscious and your head was bleeding." Elena explained.

"'m not sure what happened but I think Stefan ran away." Thalia mumbled, trying to sit up again, this time much slower.

"Yeah we gathered that when he stabbed Mikael in the heart with the stake we were supposed to kill Klaus with." Damon added, Thalia looked over Elena's shoulder to see Damon standing there looking over both girls.

"Klaus isn't dead?" Thalia asked, her hand on the back of her head, massaging it, hoping it would help with the pain.

"No." Elena said looking away at the ground.

Later in the evening the trio were in the living room talking about the nights events after explaining to Thalia and Elena what had happened. Thalia thought of getting some ambrosia for her head but thought better of it and decided to save it for an emergency.

"How did this happen?" Elena asked.

"We thought of everything, Elena! Klaus having hybrids. Mikael turning on us. We brought in Katherine so you weren`t in danger. Anything that could have gone wrong we were prepared!" Damon shouted.

"I don`t understand. Stefan wanted Klaus dead. More than anything. That`s what we were counting on."

"We blew it." Damon said quietly.

"Where`s Katherine?" Elena asked. Thalia suddenly remembered Kathrine.

"She ran for the hills like usual, the minute things got bad! And who blames her?! Klaus would`ve crushed her. I had him, Elena. I had Klaus! This could have all been over!" Damon raised his voice again.

"Katherine, she was here, I remember, she was helping Stefan and then she hit me." Thalia said. Damon watched her for a second before throwing his scotch bottle into the fireplace and the flame became bigger for a short while.

"Hey. Damon... Hey! Hey, listen to me!" Elena said as she rushed towards him, her hands cupping his face. "We`ll survive this. We always survive. Trust me."

"We`re never getting Stefan back. You know that, don`t you?" He said quietly, his eyes drifted down to the floor.

"Then we`ll let him go." Damon's eyes came back up to Elena's. "Okay? We`ll have to let him go." Damon nodded at Elena's words. Then his phone began to ring.

"Not interested in the play by play of our failure right now, Katherine."

I`m just calling to say goodbye. I don`t know what to tell you. You had a good planDamon. And that`s high praise coming from me.

"That`s not very comforting at the moment. You`re going back into hiding?" he decided not to ask her why Thalia said she was here, he just really didn't care at the moment.

At least my lifeis not boring. Goodbye, Damon.

"Take care of yourself, Katherine."

It was dark, extremely so, and perhaps Thalia should have been weary of coming out at such a late hour, after all, she is a girl with a small build and some might mistake her as weak because of that but it would only be trouble for them as she is stronger than anyone could imagine a petit girl to be.

She had taken her motorbike out and drove to the town square sitting on one of the many benches around the area, she wasn't sure why she drove there but she needed to get out, she needed to be by herself and think.

She was thinking about the day and how Klaus was still alive when someone sat next to her. She didn't look at them and continued to look down at her knees where her hands lay. She couldn't see much during the night, only what the street light beside her showed.

"Came out here to sort out your thoughts?" The man beside her asked. She didn't have to look at him to know it was Klaus, but she did anyway. A small smile crept on her face but fell when she saw his face.

It had a frown and his eyes were slightly puffy, she wanted nothing but to hold him until he felt better but she knew she couldn't, she was fairly certain he knew she had helped the others with their plan.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. "I really am." He held up a hand to stop her from saying anything else.

"You helped them try to kill me, you weren't there but you helped them." He paused slightly to see if she denied the accusation, when she didn't he carried on. "I was most excited to you again, Thalia, but you tried to kill me, why?"

Thalia licked her lips before answering him. "Because it was the right thing to do. They are my friends, Klaus. I may care for you but I also care about them and you were the hurting them." By the end of her little speech her head hung low and Klaus hated to see her this way and so he reached down and took her chin with his fingers so that her eyes met his again. He leaned his head down in the process and they were now extremely close.

"Have you thought about your feelings towards me yet?"

She looked into his blue eyes. "Yes." She said. "I love you." She had whispered the words and they were almost taken by the wind but Klaus caught them in time. He gave her a soft smile before dropping his head down and kissing her.

This one kiss was so much better than the last; it made Thalia feel things she had never felt before. She leaned up into the kiss as she turned her body towards his, her knees coming up underneath her as she turned, her hands resting on his shoulders. One of his large hands came behind her head, his fingers tangling themselves into her hair, while the other lay on the bottom of her back pulling her closer to him.

He taught her inexperienced lips how to move against his, his tongue ran across her bottom lip, begging for entrance, he had waited too long for this and he wasn't going to waste his time. Thalia opened her lips slowly, letting him take the reins, teaching her how to use her tongue with his.

The hand lying on the small of her back moved upwards underneath her shirt, up her back. He pulled on her bra strap before trying to unhook but she quickly pushed him away.

"I... Errr... Sorry." She tried to explain that she was still a virgin and this was moving too fast for her.

"Thalia." Klaus started. "Are you a virgin?" He asked her quietly. She slowly nodded her head, not looking into his eyes. His eyes however softened as he took her into his arms, hugging her close. "That's alright, just tell me when you're ready."

She smiled up at him and rested her head on his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his torso as he kept one of his arms around her waist.
