The Ties That Bind

Thalia had woken up late this morning. As she got up from her bed she heard a small noise coming from downstairs. The boys would surely be out by now dealing with the coffins so it was unlikely that they were still here. Her hand crept into her bedside table's drawer and pulled out a plastic jar. The label across it read, Hermes multivitamins, and inside were many small, monster shaped vitamins. She popped open the jar and spilled some into her hand and shoved them in her throat.

She slowly stood, wearing a tight vest top and some low hanging shorts. She slowly walked to the dresser and reached for her leather jacket. Her hand dug into one of the pockets and brought out the mace canister, she pressed the top and her spear grew in her hand. She felt the small electric charge go through it and she quietly left her room.

She slowly descended down the stairs, keeping her spear out in front of her in a defensive form. As she reached the bottom she heard it more clearly. It was music. Did one of the boys leave it on? She asked herself. Are they still here?

She approached the room from where the music was coming from. It was coming from the living room. Still moving slowly, she approached the large arch leading into the room. As she got closer she noticed the brown/blond hair poking out from the sofa. It was Klaus. Her spear collapsed back into a mace canister. She calmly walked around the sofa and into Klaus's view.

He was looking down at the ground a drink in his hand but when the corner of his eye caught sight of movement he looked up. A soft smile danced across his face, a smile not many can say has been directed towards them. He opened his arms out for her and she complied, moving into his embrace and wrapping her arms around his neck. She straddled his lap as they brought their lips in together.

"Hello, Love." He murmured against her lips once they pulled away from each other. The hand not holding the drink ran down her side and to her thigh where he realised was no clothing. He looked down and noticed she was only wearing shorts, leaving too much skin for liking out for show, even if they were inside and no one else was there, he needed to make sure no one else saw this much of her. His eyes slowly dragged up her body, back to her face but as they paced her chest they stopped. She wasn't wearing a bra, and this simple fact drove him nearly insane.

Thalia watched as his eyes landed on her breasts. The way he looked at her made her feel as if she didn't have any clothes on, that she was open to the cool breeze wafting through the room. Her cheeks reddened at what Klaus might be thinking of. She wasn't ready for that yet, and she was glad Klaus understood that. Becoming too flustered by his stare, she brought her hand up to his face and dragged up so that his eyes met hers.

"Sorry." He apologised. "I didn't mean to, love. But I just couldn't help myself. You're so beautiful, but why are you only wearing shorts? And even worse no bra?" Her face became even redder if possible.

"I-I just woke up, I wore this to bed. I can go change though if you'd like." She stammered, she could remember the last time she stammered for a boy, actually it was the only other time she had stammered because of a boy but she was glad this one was Klaus, because she's pretty sure she is in love with him, she had never felt this kind of love before, yes she had felt love for Annabeth but that was more of a sisterly kind of love but with Klaus, it was completely different. She had never felt this way before, she didn't like being away from him as it almost hurt her, and if she caught herself thinking about him she would instantly miss his touch. She found that he infiltrated her mind most of the time and she's pretty sure she would do anything for this man.

"No that's alright, it's not like I dislike it or anything." He said. His comment made her squirm slightly and he smirked at the way he was making her feel. He truly loved Thalia, but he also loved teasing her. He took her hands into his and felt a metal object in one.

"Mace?"

"I thought it was someone else." She answered.

"So you were going to attack them with mace?"

"No, I was going to attack them with my spear." Klaus furrowed his eyebrows, not understanding.

She leaned back slightly, taking the can between her hands. She pressed the top and the spear appeared. Klaus looked at her and the spear. She was still on his lap and he could see the electric charge running through the spear, from top to bottom. Where her hands lay was the source of the power. He brought his hand towards hers but flinched back when he got shocked.

"How are you not getting shocked?"

"It's not that big of a charge so I can hold it and control it. I can feel it but it doesn't hurt."

"But how come I got shocked and you didn't?" She cocked her head, have I not told him yet, I swear I did.

"My dad is Zeus, god of lightning, I can control a smaller dose of his domain including electricity so it doesn't affect me as it does to others."

"Your father is Zeus, king of the gods, god of the sky?" Before she could reply he asked more questions. "Can you control winds? Can you fly?"

"Hey, hey, hold up, one question at a time." She said with a giggle. "Yes, Yes and no. unfortunately I'm not a big fan of heights." She collapsed her spear back into its earlier form.

They sat like that for a while. Just talking with each other. Thalia was now sat sideways on his lap, her head resting on his shoulder. One of his hands ran up and down her leg slowly. They stopped when Stefan walked into the room.

He picked up the stereo remote and turned down the music Thalia had forgotten was even playing. She instantly got embarrassed, still not having changed into some other clothing. She tried to get up and leave but Klaus wrapped his arm around her waist tightly so that she couldn't leave.

"Am I interrupting something?" he asked sarcastically. Klaus took a sip of his drink, not answering Stefan. "What are you doing here, Klaus?"

"Enjoying our stalemate." Klaus answered, a fake smile across his face, Thalia turned away from his face and looked at Stefan instead.

"What do you want?"

"The question is what you want? My hybrids left town as you demanded, so please tell me what I need to do to get my family back."

Stefan moved to a chair across from the couple. "Well, see... Klaus...I'm not negotiating."

"And you understand, that holding them indefinitely is the same thing as dropping them in the ocean?"

"No, No. You leave Mystic Falls and then give me call in a few years and we'll talk."

Klaus took another drink. "I can give you another chance. Just one more. Let's make a reasonable deal."

"Or what? You make one move and I will drop..."

Klaus gave a very unusual laugh, which made Thalia want to peg it out the room but unfortunately Klaus was still holding her. "Yes, right. Crazy Stefan. How is that working out for you? Any friends left?"

"How about we go out for a drink love?"

"I should probably go find Damon before he gets in too much trouble." She stood from his lap and stretched, her shirt riding up revealing her belly button piercing. Klaus' hand ran down her stomach as she kept her hands up, his hand came to a stop at the belly button pulling on the piercing there.

"I didn't know you had a piercing there?"

"I got it last year. You like?"

"Very much so." He tugged on it softly a couple more times and kissed it. Her hand brushed through his hair.

"I gotta go get dressed. Now you don't get into too much trouble while I'm gone."

He stood up and held her hand, bringing it up to his lips, laying a kiss on it.

"Hey Damon, where are you?" Thalia asked into the phone.

I'm around.

"Seriously Damon."

I'm at the hospital, I was talking to Alaric's lady friend and she vervained me.

"What?"

Yeah, I woke up and she was gone. Anyway come meet me at Alaric's place. We're gonna have a little talk with him.

She arrives at the apartment and knocks on the door. Damon opened the door while talking to Ric.

"Ah, ah, ah, do ten more of those." He moved to the kitchen and poured himself a drink. "You're gonna want to buff up if you start dating this one. Self-defence and all."

Alaric was standing with large sweat patches on his shirt. Thalia walked in.

"What is your problem?" Ric asked.

"Your doctor vervained me." Damon walked towards Alaric with his drink in hand. "And then she blood jacked me."

"What? I mean, when did you see her?"

Damon was now sat down. "When I went to the hospital to accuse her of killing he ex-boyfriend. Which by the way is a very sensitive subject."

"Damon what the hell are you doing, huh?"

"Why are you mad at me?"

"I told you id handle this!"

"I proved your theory. Diagnosed psycho case. You're welcome." He took a drink. They stayed with Alaric for a while longer, they didn't speak to him much as he mostly ignored them.

"So how has your day been, Sparky?"

Thalia snapped her head towards the vampire at the nickname. "Fine, I didn't know you had left though. That was a surprise."

"Yeah I wanted you to have your beauty sleep. Looked like you needed it." He smirked, she slapped the side of his arm.

They carried on with their banter as Damon got a text from Elena.

"Let's go Sparky, we got work to do. Alaric we're leaving." Damon shouted the last part so that the man could hear from the room adjacent.

"Where are we going?" Thalia asked as they moved out.

"Klaus knows where we hid the coffins, we gotta move them." Thalia stopped moving, she knew Klaus wanted his family back and it was painful for him to be without them.

Damon noticed she stopped following. "Hey, hey now, you have to help. If Klaus finds those coffins he'll kill me and Stefan and I know you don't want me to die otherwise you would have let him a long time ago." She saw the logic in this and so decided to help him.

Damon drove them to the old abandoned house where the witches had been burned. He moved quickly to the one above the altar. "Okay, we need to get this one out first." He started moving it along.

Thalia looked at the other ones. She walked closer to one and opened it up. Elijah was there. His skin was grey and his veins popped out in an even darker tone of grey. The dagger was plunged deep in his chest. She brought her hand up to the dagger.

"What are you doing?" Damon asked.

"If we can't get all the coffins out maybe Elijah will be able to help." Damon nodded at her plan and continued to move the locked coffin. Thalia grabbed the dagger and with a small struggle she lifted it from Elijah's chest. She quickly closed the coffin and followed Damon out to hide the mysterious coffin.

When they arrive back at the abandoned house from the old tomb where they hid the coffin it was much darker. The candles were lit inside where the coffins were. The dead witches magic was coating the coffins so that they couldn't see them which meant that Klaus was here.

They walk into the room and hear footsteps. Klaus enters.

"What took you so long? Hiding behind your witchy friends. And in squalor no less." All of a sudden the candles' fire became larger and Klaus falls down clutching his head in pain, yelling out. Thalia gasps and tries to rush to him but Damon stops her.

"Insulting a bunch of dead witches... not smart. I made the exact same mistake first time I came in here." Damon kept a tight grip on Thalia's wrist.

"Well, you know, the funny thing about witches is, that living or death, they care about their own." He continues to grunt in pain. "A hundred dead witches have a thousand living descendants..." he clutches his head again, screaming in pain, Damon's hold on Thalia slacks and she is able to break free and rush to help Klaus. She kneels down next to him and lays a comforting hand on his shoulder. When he finished screaming he rested his head on her shoulder, trying to catch his breath. Thalia wrapped her arms around him. "And I have no problem, killing every last one of them, if I don't get my coffins back. As we speak, my hybrid friend is prepared to end the Bennett line." Thalia's hold on Klaus slackens and her arms drop from around him. He looks up at her and sees disappointment in her eyes. He knows she doesn't want him to kill anymore but he needs his family back. Which she understands, she would do anything to make sure Annabeth's safety but she would never kill innocent people. She thinks about her love for Klaus, she isn't sure if she can still be with him or not, she doesn't want to see him kill anyone else but she knows he won't stop, not even for her.

The candles die out and Klaus was able to stand without any pain. Thalia however remained on the floor not looking up at him. Klaus tried not to let her affect his demeanour.

"Now... please... show me the coffins." All of a sudden the coffins were visible. "Here we are." He looks at them and realises one is gone. "Where's the fourth? Show me!" he shouted the last part. Thalia slowly stood from the ground still not looking up at Klaus.

Damon walked around the coffins. "Well, here's the thing. They can't. It's not here."

Klaus walked towards him. "What did you do?"

"Well, Bonnie gave me the heads-up. I mean, we didn't have enough time, to get all four, but we did have time to get one."

"I will tear you, limb from limb. And only then, when you're a riving mass of blood and flesh, will I rip your heart from your chest." He heard it, he heard the way Thalia's heart had an offbeat, he could also feel her emotions with his werewolf abilities, she was sad, more than sad she was devastated, she was disappointed, in him. He shook his thoughts away.

"Sorry. The same rules apply. You know, leverage and all. I know you want your family back. But something tells me, you want what's in that coffin a lot more." Damon walked away, towards Thalia. He looked at her and she looked at him. "I'll wait in the car." She nodded at him and he left.

They stood in silence for a while.

"Thalia, I-"

"I can't do this anymore." She whispered. Klaus quickly moved towards her. He held her arms.

"What are you talking about?"

"This, being with you. I can't do it. I can't be with someone who continuously threatens my friends. Or plots behind my back. I can't be with a monster."

Klaus' eyes widened, he couldn't believe it, and the last person he wanted to scare away was Thalia and he had done it. She now believed he was a monster. She shook him away and moved towards the stairs. He tried to stop her by grabbing her shoulder.

"Don't touch me." She screeched. She finally looked up at him and he saw the tears threatening to fall, she was about to cry. "I can't be with you Klaus, demigods and hybrids are not supposed to be together, we're supposed to kill each other, to tear each other apart. We're just too different. Please just let me go, if you love me let me go, let me leave before you hurt me anymore."

They stood in silence for a few more seconds before Thalia began to walk away again and he let her. She out of the burned house and into Damon's car. She didn't look up at him and he got the message. He started the car up and drove away. They arrived at the manor and Thalia made a bee line to her room. She sat on her alone and then she let her tears fall. She didn't know what to do. She wanted to leave Mystic Falls and never return but she knew she had to stay for Elena and Damon, and even Stefan. She needed to make sure Klaus doesn't hurt them and she couldn't run away from her problems anymore, she had done that once before she can't do it again, she'd never forgive herself if she did.
