Next chapter is up! The beginning of At Sea :D

Summary: She was always good at hiding. Hiding objects, people, herself and her emotions. Hiding her emotions to the extent that even she couldn't realize them. She preferred it this way, because this way she never needed to tell people everything and more importantly, trust them. He was always a bit ahead of everyone, running from his emotions. Busy with his work, his training, his duties, he hardly ever had time to think, let alone do simple things such as smiling, laughing, having fun and enjoying life. When these two crash, and are forced to trust each other when faced against a mutual enemy, will they manage? Or will they go down before that? Read to find out...

Disclaimer: No, I don't own CCS, or the song which is The Reason by Hoobastank.

At Sea

Reader's P.O.V.

She looked up at the ceiling of her tiny cabin, glad that the gentle rocking of the ship was slowly making her drift off into a deep slumber. Just as she was about to slip into unconsciousness, she heard a faint humming coming from outside the corridor. Half-asleep, she sat up, and glanced at the clock on her bedside table.

12:15.

Wondering who could be up at this hour of the night, she crept up to the door and glanced outside. At the end of the narrow passage, a man was walking to the stairs, probably intending to go up to the deck.

Knowing that spying was bad, but drawn towards the voice of the dark figure, she tip-toed after the man once he had taken the last step upstairs. Glancing around quickly, she saw he was right near the edge of the ship, and she inconspicuously slipped between a couple of barrels near him, and listened to his deep, soothing voice singing a song she had never heard before…

I'm not a perfect personThere's many things I wish I didn't doBut I continue learningI never meant to do those things to youAnd so I have to say before I goThat I just want you to knowI've found a reason for meTo change who I used to beA reason to start over newand the reason is youI'm sorry that I hurt youIt's something I must live with everydayAnd all the pain I put you throughI wish that I could take it all awayAnd be the one who catches all your tearsThat's' why I need you to hear

I've found a reason for meTo change who I used to beA reason to start over newand the reason is You I'm not a perfect personI never meant to do those things to youAnd so I have to say before I goThat I just want you to knowI've found a reason for meTo change who I used to beA reason to start over newand the reason is youI've found a reason to showA side of me you didn't knowA reason for all that I doAnd the reason is you

I just sat there, not knowing what to do. Should I speak out? Should I wait till he leaves? I didn't really want the guy to know; it felt as if I had intruded on something private.

Suddenly, the guy moved from the position he had kept all throughout the song, and started walking back. Relieved that I wouldn't have to make the choice, I breathed a sigh of relief, and closed my eyes.

When I opened them, he was kneeling in front of me.

The Next Morning

Syaoran's P.O.V.

The alarm went off, and I turned in my bed, annoyed by the constant ringing. Finally having enough, I got up and punched it, which sent it flying.

"At least that got you up. You owe me a new alarm clock."

Roy's annoying voice made me look at the doorway, where he was standing with a mocking smile on a face. Wanting to punch him, but restraining myself, I just grunted, and ignored him.

"If you want breakfast you need to be quick. The early bird catches the worm, right?"

"Yes, well, I'm no bird and I'd rather have cereal."

Roy just grinned in return, and walked off.

Frowning, I put a pair of navy jeans and a simple white shirt on, and then followed to the small 'dining room'. But the instant I saw Sakura, I started smiling, recalling last night…

Flashback

I felt a shock go through me when she opened her eyes, realizing then how close my face was to hers. It was like a trance - then she squeaked. Surprising myself, I didn't laugh, just felt myself smiling, and raised my hand. I had no idea what I was doing, but gently I brushed her chestnut bangs out of her eyes.

"You do realize spying is bad?" I whispered.

She just nodded in return, and inhaled shakily, which made me realize that she had been holding her breath. Reluctantly leaning back, I gave her some space, and looked up at the stars. They were so much brighter out at sea…

"I didn't know you could sing…" she finally said, quietly.

"I can't. Which is why I do it when no-one is around."

This made her giggle, and I smiled at her in return.

I looked at her, and my smile disappeared when I saw the exhaustion in her eyes. Looking at my wristwatch, I saw that it was nearly one at night. She was looking at the floor, and I started humming the tune to the song. She glanced up at me, then leaned forward and put her head on my chest.

By the time the song finished, she was asleep.

I put my arms around her, and carried her to her bedroom. Laying her gently on her bed and covering her with a blanket, I instinctively leaned in and kissed her forehead.

"Good Night, Sakura."

My chapters are tiny, but at least I'm updating! I have no idea of anything to do with ships + boats, so ignore me if I've done something completely wrong, its just ignorance. S+S time! And I really love the song, so I had to do a musical episode; who knew Syaoran could sing?

Please review, it motivates me to write!
