Hello my fairies! Sorry for a late update! I've been having a MAJOR writers block! But here is the next update of Burn!

Chapter 2: Burn

"Ok, oww!" I say rubbing my cheek that was beginning to throb. "What the hell?!"

"You followed me!" She yells, totally flipping out. "You freaking followed me! What the hell is wrong with you?!" She was infuriated. Her hands were clenched in little fists. Her face was turning red and she was starting to look…. A little adorable. A snicker begins to form on my face. Seeing how mad Lucy was getting, I knew this wasn't the time to be laughing.

"What's so funny?!" She saw me. Damn.

"Uhh no.. nothing." I say sheepishly. The next four words that came out of Lucy's mouth were pretty colorful.

"No one was supposed to know about it!" She begins pacing back and forth. "I wasn't supposed to tell anybody!" She begins to go into panic mode.

"Lucy chill." I say. "It's no big deal. Really. Listen, I'm not really sure what I even witnessed. All I know is that you cut yourself."

"You heard them." She says pointing at me accusingly. "I knew it you heard them!"

"Uhhh, who?" I ask my voice was not convincing. She knew I was lying. Yes I heard her voice but I didn't hear what they were saying."

"No! No! No! No! No! No!" She says beginning to hyperventilate. "It's happening all over again! I promised her it wouldn't happen again. She said if it did I would be punished." I raise an eyebrow. What the hell is going?

"Lucy just breathe ok?" I say trying to calm her down. She was a brand new student. Her punkish and goth look already gave people an idea of who she was. Even if that idea was wrong. People at this school judge you by your first impression and Lucy well, I hate to say it, may have given people a negative impression of her. Anyways, I didn't want her reputation to get worse. Plus I felt bad she was having a breakdown. "Let me walk you home." I say as the bell rings. She looked so vulnerable. I wasn't going to let her walk home like that. There were bad parts of my town and I didn't want her to run into trouble. I stand up and start packing up refusing to look up at the poor blondes pain stricken face.

She points at me. "You! You're going to leave me the actual HELL alone!" Her face went from looking like a lost puppy, to an angry beast. "I actually thought this was it. This was my new beginning. This was going to be different. When I saw you I thought I wouldn't be alone for once in my life. But you're just like the rest." She begins shoving her books into her black messenger bag.

Why was I so hooked on trying to make this right? I felt bad yes but usually I don't care. Did a part of me feel the same about her? Maybe I do want a friend. Maybe it will be different. You know what? For once in my life, I'm going to give myself a project. Become Lucy's new friend.

"SCREW YOU SALAMANDER!" Her screams pull me out of my thoughts and into reality.

"CAN YOU SHUT UP!?" I yell. She retreats, surprised that I had yelled. I was getting annoyed. She sure is loud. I look up at the girl and tears begin to form at her eyes. Crap… I think.

"No. Uh. Stop. I'm sorry. Lucy no no. No crying." I say awkwardly stepping forward. I put a hand out to try and comfort her but she gives me eyes that send daggers into my hand. She begins to breathe and manages to calm herself down. "Lemme walk you home." I say slinging my leather messenger bag around my shoulder.

"Fine" Icicles drip down the word. She picks up her bag and we walk out into the daylight. My eyes squint from the sun. As my eyes regain they're ability to see, Lucy looks even angrier in the sun.

"Hey, let's start over." I ask. She faces forward refusing to look at me.

"Fine." She says. She turns to me. "Hi. I'm Lucy Heartfilia. Call me whatever the hell you want to because I don't give a damn anymore."
"Ok Luce, my name is Natsu Dragneel and you can call me Nat." I say grinning. I look around. This wasn't a neighborhood I was familiar with. "Where are we going?"

"Forward." She snaps. Wow, she doesn't miss a beat to be sassy. We walk forward and turn down some more streets and stop in front of a house that was pretty big.

"Is this where you live?" I ask amazed. She turns and raises an eyebrow.

"No." She rolls her eyes and opens the gate walking up the path to the door. I follow close behind. She turns and lifts an eyebrow. This girl must have a pretty strong forehead.

"You not gonna invite me in?" I ask. She opens the door and sighs. I was obviously annoying her. I walk into her house and it was beautiful. There was a set of stairs to the right and a TV and couch to the left. All the way to the back was a kitchen. I put down my backpack on the couch and take off my shoes. I look at Lucy. She had taken off her sweatshirt and scarf and put her beanie on the table. Her entire body was covered in scars and she was skinnier then a stick. We sit down. "Do you live alone?" I ask.

"I guess. My house keeper does the shopping and cleaning, and my late fathers bank account takes care of the money situation." She shrugs.
"And your mom?" I ask.

"Dead." Ouch might've struck a nerve their. "Now what's your sob story?" She asks.

"Well, my mom died in a fire and my dad's always out of town. But when he's in town, he's and asshole. So yea." I say. We sit in silence for a good 15 minutes.

"Wanna order pizza?" She asks breaking the silence. I nod. I was starving. She whips out her phone and calls the local pizza place. 45 minutes later the pizza arrives. And finally the angry ice had been broken. We talk and laugh and eat. Or at least I eat. She has half a slice. That wasn't good.

"Sorry, I'm a fast eater." I say apologetically.

"No worries." She says taking a swig of coke. "Here. Check this out." She hands me a pair of headphones.

"What for?" I ask.
"What you don't like music?" I give in and put them on. She had a great song on. The Inbetween by Beartooth. As the song ends, I take off the headphones and what I heard was horrible. Lucy? Was she? Then it clicks. SHIT.

I run to the bathroom and I see the little girl with her hand down her throat. Tears were streaming down her face. "Lucy! STOP!" I shout grabbing her frail wrist. Her sobs continue. I carry her down the hall back to the couch. I pet her hair that was drenched with sweat and vomit. I lie her shuddering body down and go back to the bathroom to get a damp towel to wash her face with. Walking back to Lucy I kneel down and wash her boney face. I give her a cup of mouthwash and make her rinse. When I had finished washing the vulnerable blonde, I sit down next to her and wrap a blanket around her. I pull the girl close to my chest and let her rest.

"I'm…. I'm so sorry." She whimpers.

"Shut up," I say softly as a give her a gentle kiss on her head. As she sobs, I stroke her scarred skin. "You're safe." She murmurs something and falls asleep.

I guess at some point I fell asleep because when I look at the digital clock it was 4 o'clock. I realize I was wide-awake so I rub my eyes. I was going to get up and go to bed but I realize that there was a girl on my lap plus I'm not even in my own house. I go to stretch back but then my mind goes black.

I hear something. It sounds like crackling. The smell of burning wood becomes stronger by every second. It stings my noise and my face becomes hot. Suddenly….. BOOM! My eyesight returns. I'm back in my old apartment from when I was 12. I'm sitting on my couch Lucy has disappeared. I want to get out of here. Lucy needs me. My mind runs frantically, but my body refuses to move. The entire room is engulfed in flames.
"Natsu?" A gentle and familiar voice calls my name.

"Mom?" I call out. "Mom is that you?" A figure appears in the flames. It's curvy and beautiful. It was my mom. "Mom!"

"Natsu honey!" The figure walks closer. Its facial features begin to form and the face of my smiling mother appears. "Oh Natsu!" But something horrible begins happening. "YOU" My mother screams. Her entire body beings melting the skin that began to form had begun melting off. She was turning into a deformed monster.

"NO!" I scream. I can't look away.

"LOOK AT ME NATSU! LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID TO ME!" Her voice was horrible. It was a mixture of my moms voice and a banshee. The skin was burning and melting and the muscle was appearing to burn off. "YOUR FAULT! YOUR FAULT!" The monster screamed.

"NO!" I screamed back. "IT WAS AN ACCIDENT AND YOU KNOW IT!"

"Natsu! Natsu! Natsu!" The figure screams. I close my eyes as it begins to chant my name. Then it switches. I open my eyes.

Brown hazel eyes stare into mine. Soft hands hold my face and my nightmare had ended. Lucy stared at me with eyes full of fear.

"Oh my God, you're ok." She says. She pulls me into a hug. "Thank God, you're ok!"

"Yea." I say. "Thank God."
