We took Samuel back to Sam's, his body temperature started rising and he became weak and mostly sick. I didn't know what was happening to him it was like he was phasing without actually phasing. Me, the pack and Sam talked about what was happening to Samuel. Sam called my dad so he can could come check on him too. Even my dad didn't know what was happening. he said it was strange of him to be in this physical stage with coming around a vampire scent. After about 2 hours of talking about Samuel, Sam came to a conclusion.
"So what your saying is that. I can't see Sammy anymore" Nessie said.
"No, not until we explain everything to him" Emily said. Nessie looked over to Sam and my dad that were next to each other.
"I don't understand" she told them.
"We don't either but Samuel is showing the same signs he was before and even more advanced stages. he should of been phased" Sam said.
"I don't understand what that has to do with me" Nessie questioned. My dad exhaled.
"Your not save for him" my dad said. Nessie passed her hand through her hair.
"Nessie, You being half a vampire is clearly messing with his transformation" Sam said.
"But I wasn't even with him when this fight happened" Nessie said.
"But the fight was about you" Embry said.
"Yeah he kicked that boy's ass because of you" Brady said. Nessie turned to look at them.
"Me?" Nessie questioned.
"This is just the best thing for him right now" Emily said. Nessie looked in Sam's direction.
"I thought I didn't give off a vampire scent" she told him.
"Apparently Samuel can scent something none of us can. On you" Sam said. Nessie breathed in deeply and closed her eyes. She looked up at the ceiling for a second then looked down.
"So I'm the reason why Sammy been acting up now and before he left and because I'm a vampire he should be phasing but because only half like you said I'm only messing with his head" Nessie said holding back tears. Emily walked over to her.
"Well talk to him once he calms down and we'll tell him everything" Emily told her. She nodded.
"Okay, I'll ask my family if I can tell him about me too" she said.
I drove Nessie to Jeremy's. She was quite the whole way. I pulled into the driveway. I turned off her car and took the key out the ignition.
"So do you think the same way as Sam" Nessie said and looked at me.
"There no other way to explain what's happening to him, Nessie" I told her. She looked down and her hair got in her face. She wiped her eye and looked up at me.
"So i really can't see him anymore"
"Just give Sam and Emily some time. I'll keep an eye on him and make sure that he doesn't get out of control again" I said and i grabbed her hand. Nessie looked down at our hands and she put her fingers in between mine and with her other hand, she used her finger tips to make circles on mine. She kept her head down.
"I don't understand why it's just Sammy. I mean I would spend a lot of time with Joey too and" she paused.
"Only way I see it is as that he's Sam's son. Sam didn't know how to control himself I mean look at Emily. You being a hybrid is probably why-" she looked up at me and pulled her hand away from mine.
"But I don't give a vampire scent Jacob! And that's what makes you guys phase" she said angry. What the hell has gotten into her? She was now mad all of a sudden and it kind of made me mad that she yelled at me for no reason.
"And the sense of a vampire" I quickly told her back. Angry and the same way she did. She looked at me stunned by the way I just talked to her.
"Nessie just try and stay away from him for a while" I said calm and in the nicest voice I had.
"Yeah okay. I guess I have no choice anyway" she said and got out the car. Then so did I but she was already inside closing the front door.
Days Later
My little nephew Billy birthday was coming up and because Nessie couldn't be around Samuel. She couldn't go to his birthday party. Nessie asked me to come with her to pick out a gift for him. Billy has been bugging me and Paul for a bicycle so that's what Nessie brought him.
"Hey Paul" she greet and went over to hug him. Paul was in the kitchen eating like always.
"Hey Nessie, Hey Jacob" Paul greeted us.
"Hey" I said back.
"Where's Little Bill?" Nessie asked.
"In his room. Ill go get him" Paul said
"Billy!" He yelled.
"Yeah!" Billy yelled back.
"Your girlfriend is here!" Paul yelled.
"That's not funny!" Billy yelled serious. Nessie playfully pushed Paul on the shoulder.
"Little Bill" Nessie called him. You could hear was footsteps then a loud bang. He must of fell then all you see was Billy running and stumbling towards Nessie.
"Your really here" Billy said excited.
"Yeah i came to see you" Nessie said and low to hugged him.
"plus I have something for you" she told him. Nessie looked at me and I handed her the present I was finding behind my back.
"What is it?" Billy asked.
"Open it" Nessie told him. He quickly ripped it open.
"A helmet?" Billy questioned.
"And there a brand new bike in your garage to go with it" Nessie said. Billy jumped on her nearly throwing her off balance.
"Thank you" Billy said overjoyed and continued to hug her.
"Happy early birthday" she told him. Billy broke the hugged.
"But my birthday isn't until tomorrow"
"I know but I'm not gonna be able to make it to your party so I wanted to give you your present today"
"Why aren't you coming to my party. My dad got me a bouncy house with a slide and everything"
"As fun as that sounds. I have somewhere I need to be tomorrow"
"Somewhere better than at my party"
"No not better. I just have something to do that" Nessie looked at me.
"Better. I get it. Here I don't it anymore" Billy said sad and disappointed. Billy handed back the helmet to Nessie and walked away.
"Billy" Nessie called. He turned about and looked at her.
"But thank you" he said and left.
"Wow Nessie. He's really mad at you. You know how long he's been asking me to buy him a bike" Paul said.
"Yeah thanks for point it out Paul I hadn't notice" Nessie said sarcastically. Paul went to check on Billy. Nessie felt awful especially because it wasn't her choice not to be there.
"He'll get over it" I told her.
"Please I've never seen a 7 year old so upset before"
"Exactly he's 7, he'll get over it"
"When have you ever seen him mad at me before or when have you ever seen him not be in the same room as me"
"Well you do have a point"
"Hey I'll talk to him and Sam, couple of hours can't hurt Samuel anymore"
The Next Day
The party was held at my house. Samuel had told Emily and Sam that he still wasn't feeling well and he was going to stay home. I called Nessie and told her it was okay that she came. I waited for her to come.
"Nessie, Oh my god. Thank god your here" my sister said and went to greet her. Nessie said hello to everyone. Her and my dad had a talk I don't know about what but they were both smiling so i guess it just one of their conversations.
"So where's Billy" Nessie asked.
"In the bouncy house" my sister answered. Nessie looked over at the bouncy house that had no activity.
"He was okay but once his little friends left and he realized you weren't coming" My sister said sadly.
"Billy may have had the youngest heart to be ever broken" Paul joked. Nessie playful pushed him and started to walked towards the bouncy house. She grabbed the side of the net and pulled it down.
"You know it's a bouncy house. Your suppose to be bouncing" she said
"Nessie!" He yelled and got out of the bouncy house and ran to her. Everyone laughed and smiled.
"Your here" he told her and hugged her.
"Did you really think I would miss your birthday party with a bouncy house and this huge slide" she said. Billy was happy again and he dragged Nessie into the bouncy house and they jumped and played around. I watched them go down the slide and i just watched them play.
"I see it" my dad said and came next to me.
"What?" I questioned. My dad smiled at me.
"That's big smile on your face" he said but then got serious.
"Seeing her play with little Billy makes you think about what you can't have with her" he said. And my mood changed. I didn't realize why I loved watching Nessie play with Billy until now. That was what I see when Nessie plays with Billy and how she would act if she could have kids. I signed.
"Yeah" I said and my dad but his hand on my shoulder
"But having her, would just mean everything to me and I would rather have her over anyone and anything. And you know if that means that I would never have a little Jacob or a little Nessie running around then I'll learn to deal it" I said sadly. My dad chuckled a little and I quickly looked at him.
"But first you have to tell her how you feel before you start thinking-" I cut him off.
"Yeah yeah I know old man" I told him.
The party slowly moved into the house. Collin, Brady, Embry, Claire and Quil were in the house with me and Nessie. But they were in the living room and me and Nessie talked in the kitchen. Nessie looked like she was getting cold so i told her to go get one of my sweaters if she was and she did.
She came out of my room wearing my sweater, i loved to see her in my sweaters because every now and then I would caught her smell it. She quickly stopped and looked at me with this worried look on her face. Then everyone looked at her as she stood there.
"Sammy here" she whispered and sure enough to Samuel came threw the door.
"Hey" he greeted everyone but his eyes stuck on Nessie.
"hey" we all greeted back. Nessie pretty much ignored him after and walked towards me.
"Hey Nessie" Samuel said. Nessie turned to look at him
"I thought you weren't coming" she told me.
"After 4 days of not seeing me or talking to me that's all you have to say" Samuel said.
"No, I mean I happy to see you. I just thought you were to sick to come that's all"
"Well I still feel a bit strange a little more now that I'm out of the house actually and I'm here" he said. Nessie looked at me almost like for help. Then looked back at Samuel.
"You should go back home. I wouldn't want you to get worst" she told him.
"Look at you, worried about me" Samuel said and worried.
"Of course I'm worried about you. I care about you Sammy" Nessie said.
"Well I'm here and no matter how I feel. I'm gonna stay" he said. They talked about for 5 minutes.
"Well I have to go actually" Nessie said. And the next I saw was little Billy running towards Nessie like he always did right after she says she's leaving.
"Nooo! We haven't even cut my cake yet" Billy told her. Nessie got down to his level.
"Billy, you remember that thing I told you I had to do tomorrow" she said.
"Just stay Nessie" Sam said and everyone else agreed especially Billy and Samuel. Nessie just insisted she had to leave. Everyone tried to convince her to stay but the way she was acting she truly didn't want to stay.
"Stay Nessie" I told her and she looked at me and nodded.
"Oh okay. I'll stay but just for a while" she said worried.
Nessie stayed but what happens after made me wish I would of just let her leave when she wanted to because nothing could of prepared me for what happens next.
