Chapter 6: Lykos
The crisp autumn wind left a sharp and cold sting as it lightly breezed amongst the woods. The sky blazed with a fluorescent orange and red as the sun had already begun its rise. The atmosphere was soon filled with indigenous noises as the wildlife began to spur onto action. The volume rose and as each minute passed, amplifying as more and more time as passed. A sense of unity could be felt in the forest.
Glint walked around the woods, contemplating many things and listening to the wildlife as it relaxed him. He had awoken early to spend time here. It was his native woods, he felt right at home and occasionally at Warfang he'd feel a certain type of homesickness. Although Warfang may be considered as his new home, he still missed his own cave very much. It was his birthplace after all, how could he not get homesick? He thought about moving back inside the cave, but there'd be no point. As he would disappoint everyone and it would make his brother's job easier.
Aurea said she'd be ready to talk to him today, and he woke up earlier than most dragons. It would be wrong to disturb her from her sleep, he already knew Aurea didn't wake as early as he did. So that would explain his reasoning. He stopped in a small clearing where the sun barely managed to make its ray pass through the dense forest areas. And thus, it was not very well-lit. A rabbit soon came bursting out of the bushes, running from an unknown pursuer. Glint didn't bother to intervene, as long as it didn't threaten him. Suddenly a wolf bursted out of the nearby bushes, it caught the rabbit in its mouth swiftly and with grace. It dropped the rabbit and bowed its head and seemed to silently pray. A brief but symbolic howl filled the woods shortly after, silencing it. The commotion, the early energy, ended.
Shortly after, the wolf opened its jade eyes and stared at Glint with the utmost interest, it cocked its head to the side. Glint just stared back, he had never seen a wolf react to his presence so... calmly. An orange leaf fell from the tree above the wolf, slowly making its way down. This was the sign of fall. The wolf raised a paw and caught it with ease, it extended towards Glint. "Greetings draconian," the wolf said in the dragon language slowly, his voice was deep and yet had calming effect, it was filled with respect and politeness. His tone was soft.
Glint never recalled wolves communicating with dragons, much less speaking. He was so deep in thought he didn't notice the wolf raise his tail in slight confusion wondering what was taking slow long for him to respond. He kept his position though. "Hello," was the only word Glint managed for squeeze out in reply once he noticed the waiting wolf. He extended his paw and took the leaf from the wolf, wondering whether that was the correct thing to do. The wolf's silver and grey coat shined beautifully in the sunlight as it lowered its paw. It gave him a majestic like appearance. He seemed pleased with Glint's action and replied.
"You're one of the Ź'kil. Your small section of dragons adhered to codes similar to our ancestors," he bowed. "I'm honored to be in a presence of a Ź'kil."
The white dragon gave him a puzzled look, although flattered by his actions he wasn't comprehending everything the wolf said. "Ź'kil? I'm sorry but I don't understand. As far as I know, are you referring to my element?"
He nodded, "Yes, I am. Let me introduce myself friend. I'm Lykos of the Lupus tribe; heir to the tribe leader Jikar."
"Heir?"
"I see you're confused. To prove we are worthy of being heir to the tribe or other circumstances, we, wolves undergo quests. It has to be conducted outside of our homeland. I've chosen to re-establish diplomatic relations with our draconian friends. That is why I am here. You must know the way to Warfang... Before I ask you to guide me there, may I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" He, again bowed his head in respect.
"I'm Glint and I won't mind guiding you to Warfang." Lykos, pleased with his response, let out a small howl, one that was radiating with joy. He then pushed the rabbit to Glint. And looked up to him, expecting something. Glint shook his head, showing that he didn't know what he was implying.
The wolf clarified it without being irritated. "It is customary to treat allies with a gift. I'm offering you a meal. Will you accept my gift?"
Glint shook his head once more. "I didn't hunt and kill the rabbit. You're the one who did it and thanked it for the meal. It would be wrong for me to accept. I decline."
Lykos raised an amused brow as he smiled, showing his sharp teeth. "I see you have dignity. You have not tainted my view of your kind Glint, I shall remember your action." He pulled the rabbit back and began to feast on it, although not in a wild manner, more of a civilized manner instead. Glint just waited patiently, the curiosity inside of him bubbling, he wanted to ask so many questions. Once the wolf finished he looked up at Glint and saw the questions that reflected in his mind. "You have questions? I'll answer to them as best I can while we travel to Warfang. Pose me your first," the wolf began to walk as Glint started towards Warfang in reply. They went out of the clearing and onto a road that led into Warfang. Following the road was simple.
"Is there more tribes than one?"
"Indeed there is. There are the Äkail, Ywÿar, and the N'dâvir," the wolf scowled as he said 'Äkail'. Glint noticed but thought it would be appropriate to ask later.
"What about the wolves here? Are there tribes here?"
"The wolves here are either stray packs or simply outcasts, none belong in a tribe. Not anymore at least," he paused briefly."A tribe of wolves is a collective that is united for mutual benefit and order. Sort of similar to why you dragons have cities and governments that make laws. Instead of laws though, we follow codes. Do you understand the gist of things Glint?" Lykos asked as he lifted his head.
The dragon took a few moments to process what he said. "I think so..."
"Shall I need to explain more? Or shall you pose a different question?" The wolf asked.
"I'll pose another one. Are there any dragons around your homeland?"
"Yes there are. I can't say things are without tension though..." He trailed off, as if he wanted to explain more. But decided not to, unless Glint was that interested. Which he was.
"What's wrong?"
"The accursed Äkail have been rather shady lately. The dragons there report small raids in which supplies and food were stolen. No cases of anyone being harmed lately, which is a positive. I fear the Äkail are up to something though. Otherwise, this wouldn't have started."
"Will there be war?"
"No, I don't think so. The Äkail are suspected of doing this but not for mobilizing war against the dragons up there. They aren't stupid, in fact, they are the most cunning of the tribes. I suspect a different motive. But this isn't of your concern unless dragons are threatened too. To which they are not."
"It does seem shady, have the Äkail ever fought against other tribes?"
"Many minor ones have been overtaken, we are weary, so are the others. But let us hope the our great ancestor, Lupus will forbid such a war."
The two stopped as they approached the gates of Warfang, which were left open for various reasons, not without guards though. The two proceeded and entered the huge city. Lykos was moving his head in all sorts of directions as he walked, catching glimpses of everything and taking in the different cultural aspects of the dragons compared to that of the wolves. The streets were bustling with activity as they got more in the more denser parts of the city. He looked at Glint, "Who shall I be speaking to?"
"The Guardians. At least for the time being."
"Ah yes," Lykos started. "The Elemental Guardians as fáthor told me. I will be honored to be in their presence."
"Honor, you mentioned it sometimes. Is it a fundamental aspect of your culture?"
"The basis. There is a saying: No honor, with shame. With honor, without shame. This shows that our society and culture is built around the basis of honor. Those without honor are regarded as untrustworthy and are a disgraceful shame. Therefore they are normally banned from coming back to the K'hilingńor lands. They are known as outcasts, as I've mentioned before."
The two reached the temple front and Glint could see Volteer with Aurea. The two were conversing. Lykos had started sniffing, as something caught wind of his attention. He let out a low growl and muttered something about the place having an odd scent of evil. Glint just ignored it, saying he didn't understand what he meant. Aurea was the first to notice Glint along with Lykos. She directed Volteer's attention to the two. He turned his head to see what she was directing him to. His eyes widened at the sight of Lykos. "My, my, my..." The two dragons approached them. Aurea looked uncomfortable with a stranger. That, and the stranger wasn't dragon either. She trusted Glint though and involuntarily moved close to him, leaving an inch or two of space between them. "A Canis lupus. What tribe do you hail from wolf?" Volteer asked with the upmost curiosity, his mind racing with many, many, thoughts of the potential of the situation here.
The wolf looked at the guardian with full confidence. "I hail from the Lupus tribes sir, I am here to re-establish relations with the dragons. My name is Lykos, heir to the tribal chief Jikar."
"I see. Aurea, dear, could you fetch the other guardians?"
Nodding shakily, the dragoness left Glint's side and headed towards the temple and inside to get Terrador and Cyril. Glint could see the sunlight bear down on his scales, full morning has come. His scales reflected the sunlight and glowed with ease. He noticed Volteer studying Lykos with undying interest as they waited for the others. Lykos just stood firm, not minding Volteer's analyzing gaze. He glanced at Glint and met his eyes. The wolf's jade eyes were brilliantly enticing if not something else; something in his eyes made Glint almost want to keep staring. His eyes told him a story. One he couldn't understand. It made him feel odd, but it wanted him to become friends with the wolf and understand their culture and society. He wanted to learn tolerance within races. Maybe that was it.
They broke off contact a moment later as Aurea returned with the other two guardians following closely behind. Terrador had the most stoic face so far. Cyril was just as prideful as ever and when seeing the wolf, Glint could have sworn to have seen a look of disappointment flash quickly. "This is the wolf you've spoken of Aurea? I see. Let us take this somewhere more private shall we?" Terrador said as he motioned for everyone else to follow. Glint was about do the same but was stopped when Aurea held him tight with one paw as Volteer motioned for them to stay. After they went into the temple and gone out of sight she spoke up in her normal, soft tone.
"You wanted to talk yesterday?" She said as she took her paw off his shoulder. He turned around to face her.
"Yes. May I ask what caused your sudden departure yesterday."
Aurea gave him an uncomfortable look, her eyes gleaming with sudden sadness."That's something I don't like to talk about..."
"Something you won't even talk to me about?" He asked with concern. The dragoness began walking, Glint followed as she thought about his question.
"I'm sorry. But no, I won't," she paused and looked into his brown eyes. "It's nice knowing you care so much though..." She ended shyly.
He grinned and at her, "that's what friends are for right?"
"A friend. Yes." Aurea said hesitantly. She just looked down and sighed. The white dragon just gave the dragoness a comforting wing that he extended out rather awkwardly, but full of confidence. She reluctantly accepted this and just stayed silent. The dragoness retreated back to her thoughts, not paying any mind to how Glint was staring off to the side as he noticed something or someone. He saw a very familiar dragoness standing by the fountain in the middle of the temple front. She was keenly observing the two and smiled as she could see how Glint was giving her an uncomfortable stare as he really wished his mother wasn't so... nosy. Or maybe it was something else. The white dragoness raised her paw a made a series of motions with them indicating to the dragon that he shouldn't be focusing on the dragoness next to him and not her. He turned his head, obeying.
As he did do that, he noticed Aurea was still silent. "Are you okay? You've been unusually silent for a little too long."
"I'm fine. I'm just... thinking. You know me Glint," she said as he removed his wing, seeing as she didn't need it anymore. The dragoness turned around suddenly.
"I suppose you are going off to the library?" Glint asked.
"Without a doubt," the yellow dragoness replied before turning and giving Glint a small smile, one of her rarer gifts to bestow upon someone outside of her haven area. He just waved and stopped as she disappeared out of sight. A white dragoness walked up to him, huge grin on her features. She gave him a light-hearted sigh.
"Oh, you two are so adorable!"
He gave her a confused look and said, "What do you mean mother?"
"Oh, just something you'll not understand until you feel it," she answered cryptically with a sly grin as her sky blue eyes flashed. She waved her tail around impulsively, not really caring if she'll hit anything as well, it wouldn't hit anything. It'd pass through them as she was only tangible to Glint.
"Mum, I hate when you don't tell me," Glint said childishly.
"That ruins the fun though!" She giggled and gave him a loving nuzzle.
He smiled. "It's odd when I know I'm talking to you and if taken from someone else's perspective. I'm talking to the fountain next to me like I'm crazy..."
"It's alright, at least I know you're not crazy. But everyone else won't!"
The dragon chuckled, "Is that supposed to reassure me? 'Cause I don't feel the reassuring part," Glint replied, ending with a smile.
"Glint, you are just like me... Don't change, it will ruin who you are," Illumielle said sternly rather suddenly, she softened her gaze shortly after. The white dragon considered her words before nodding.
"I won't, promise mum."
"Good. I've said to Ignitus one day, that if I die before he does; I'll come back and haunt him. Didn't get a chance though, he was too busy and bothering him in the mist of war for a good laugh wouldn't be fun. Too bad he perished though. Or so everyone likes to think." She winked at him and sighed in delight. To which he didn't understand the purpose of her gestures.
"You knew Ignitus?" Glint asked in amazement, remembering last night.
"I did. A good friend of mine. Spyro was good to look up to him as a father. Ignitus could have been one... If not for the war. I think he's happy for Spyro though..."
Glint remained silent. It was awkward enough to talk to his mother at times due to the fact she never really communicated with him in person except for yesterday and today. He was still getting used to her guidance and constant watch. Although, the dragoness wasn't nosy, she seemed to enjoy watching Glint interact with other people. Illumielle just wanted to see Glint grow... She smiled at Glint upon noticing his silence, he looked at her and said, "Mother. What do you think about Lykos?"
She tapped her chin and answered, "A kind and noble wolf with a heart. Well mannered, and loyally steadfast. He will become a great friend Glint, if you so choose to desire a friendship."
"I guess that's up for me to decide..."
"Yep! You're going to have to get used to his differences. And remember, tolerance is key," the dragoness faded, her image shattering as it suddenly disappeared. A cheerful giggle was the last thing her heard from his mom.
Glint's thoughts were to see if the wolf is done with his business with Guardians, but on second thought. He'd rather wait it out, as he didn't want to interrupt anything important that may take place. He wanted to talk to someone, but at the same time. He didn't. Now confused, he decided to go the one person who always clears his thoughts for him. Aurea. She normally seemed to take his mind off trivial things, he didn't know how she did. But it was a good mystery that didn't need solving. He quickly made his way to the library and was surprised to see Fynir with Sarin walking along the same path. He glanced at the two suspiciously as he got closer. "Hey you two."
The two dragoness turned their heads. "Well, look who showed up. And of all people Glint, I'm surprised to see you going to a library," Sarin said with a feigned surprise. She gave him a cold stare, although beneath it was simply teasing. Fynir just gave him a friendly, warm one. Counteracting Sarin's gaze.
Glint smiled, "Very neat Sarin. I could say the same for you."
A small smirk escaped her. "Oh really?"
"You two act like mates..." Fynir chimed in with an amused tone.
Glint shrugged whilst Sarin punched the red dragon on the shoulder lightly, "We do not! Sometimes Fynir, I have half a mind to tape your mouth shut," she let out an exasperated sigh. Sometimes wishing she didn't have to deal with males all the time.
"Ouch..." Glint said as Fynir shrunk a bit at the sudden outburst. He began to rub the spot where she hit him gently.
"I'm sorry, I thought you could take a joke."
"That depends on the joke Fynir," replied the dragoness with an indignant tone.
"What are you to going to the library for anyways?" The white dragon asked in curiosity.
"Firehead here," Sarin lifted a claw and poked Fynir in the chest once. "thinks his wing membrane can be repaired. Or in a way, remade. It's possible, I'm just unsure about how exactly I'll do this."
Fynir nodded, "We are just doing some research. That's all."
Glint nodded slowly, not sure what to make of the information. "I'm just visiting Aurea... That's my reason for being here."
"Aurea? Is she your fiancée Glint?" Sarin asked teasingly. Glint shook his head.
"She's just a friend Sarin."
The dragoness smiled. "Sure she is..."
The trio stopped at the entrance to the library and went in before going their separate ways. Glint began to seek out the dragoness, she normally was on the third floor, or the sixth... The library was positioned rather close to the temple as part of the design apparently, and it was meant to contain as much books as they could contain as possible. So far the fifth and sixth floor are hardly filled. The sixth floor mostly barren. Glint proceeded to walk up the spiral stairway. He made sure to stop at every floor just to see if Aurea was there. The second floor? Nothing. Third? Nothing. Fourth? Nothing. Fifth? Nothing.
Upon reaching the sixth floor he saw the dragoness pacing around the room in deep thought. She stopped however, as she noticed another presence. Turning her head towards Glint, she gazed at him alluringly. "Where's your friend?"
"He's with the Guardians. I decided to come here," he got closer to the dragoness.
She went to over the bookshelves, with her head turned towards them. "We haven't spent any time last night in the library. I suppose this will compensate for the lost time. Where shall we began Glint?" Aurea turned her head towards him with a raised eye.
"Where we left off. Where else?" He asked with a grin.
Looking slightly disappointed, the dragoness replied. "Oh, well, I thought you'd want to try something different..."
"I don't think anything else will pique my interest Aurea. At least nothing I know of."
She began to pull down some books before setting them on a desk. The dragoness motioned for Glint to wait as she went downstairs. He obyed and took his spot next to the desk. Tail high and prideful, he stared out the nearby window patiently. The sun's glare was obstructed by the great white clouds nearby and automatically made Glint wonder how clouds felt like as he never flew that high. Maybe it's something he'd try doing later.
Touching a cloud...

As Aurea descended down to the third floor she saw Fynir with a dragoness that she wasn't familiar with. She suddenly lost most of her confidence despite being in her comfortable haven, she reluctantly pressed forward to at least greet the two.
"What exactly are you looking for Sarin? It's not helping me or you if refuse to my offer for help," the red dragon let out a sigh as the green dragoness glared at him.
"I'm fine. I can find what I need by myself Fynir. Although, I do appreciate your offer."
Fynir turned his head as he noticed Aurea and waved, "Hiya Aurea." Sarin was quick to react and found her gaze meeting the yellow dragoness' eyes. She visibly shook in pure anxiety and struggled to say something. Closing her mouth and opening it every second or so. She sighed after a minute and got out one word: "Hi."
"So you're the dragoness Glint mentioned... I'm Sarin. You already know Fynir from what I've gathered," she extended a paw. The shy dragoness looked at it hesitantly before extending her paw to the green dragoness' one. The two shook paws briefly in silence before stopping.
"Hey Aurea, Sarin is looking for something in the library. Um, could you help her find it possibly?" He asked as the dragoness glared at him once more. She looked about ready to tape his mouth shut, and Fynir started to back away slowly because of that.
"I told you. I don't need assistance for this! Okay?" Fynir practically shrunk away as Sarin tried her best not to raise her voice. Aurea just watched, slightly frightened by her too. She gulped and spoke up.
"Are you... sure? I mean the library can get confusing at times. And... no other person besides Volteer and I can navigate through its complex organization," a slight exaggeration on that part.
Sarin just sighed and turned her head before grudgingly replying. "Just... help me find this. She took out a piece of paper and showed it to Aurea. Who read it quickly and looked up.
"It's on this floor... You want to go to section C-4 and to category C-C-6 to find that. Um... I could go retrieve it for you if that's too hard..." She looked down and wished she was alone right now so she could just hide from well, everything.
Sarin shook her head, "I'll find it," she turned to search for what the dragoness mentioned. Aurea nervously glanced at her and the floor before she made her mind to speak.
"Are you sure? This can get confusing..."
"I said. I'm fine. What am I to you? A hatchling?" As the dragoness said that she immediately began to search for the thing she was looking for. Aurea slightly bristled at her sudden rudeness. Fynir noticed this and spoke up to apologize for Sarin's behavior.
"Sorry about that. She's stubborn when it comes to assistance."
Aurea sighed and nodded, though her slight anger wasn't suppressed. "I understand. It's the first time a had to deal with someone like this."
Fynir looked at Sarin, the dragoness wandered aimlessly. He could tell she had trouble finding it. Aurea had already noticed this and was prepared to offer assistance once more. "I'm not sure if you two will get along then..."
The yellow dragoness glanced at him, before beginning to make her way to Sarin. "I can at least try."
"Determined are ya?" He didn't wait for a response and instead lifted his wing to stop her from moving any further. "I'll take care of this. No need to delay yourself from whatever you're doing," he gave her a mock bow before looking off to the side, where Sarin was and heading there.
Aurea just rolled her eyes before turning around to finish what she started earlier. The dragoness walked over to the far corner, she could hear the wind outside as it got more intense as the day was slowly passing by. Reaching her paw out as she spotted the resources she required, the dragoness gently pulled them off the shelves and stopped as she didn't want to become encumbered by the weight of all the books she held in her paws. Dropping them on floor gently, she walked over to her usual spot on the third floor and stopped at the table before peering down onto the underside. Her eyes caught what she was looking for, her bag that she used to facilitate the use of carrying luggage, materials, resources, or for convenience.
She slipped the bag onto her slim figure and proceeded to continue. Walking back to the spot she left the books she picked them up one by one and placed them into her bag before heading back towards the stairs. She began climbing the stairs and stopped as she glanced at Fynir who was trying to get Sarin's attention as he found the what she was looking for. He sighed impatiently and tapped her shoulder and was instantly met by a sudden turn of her head. She eyed Aurea at the stairs and made a face at her before acknowledging Fynir's help.
Aurea didn't know whether that was just to get on her nerves but she restrained herself from getting angry. Sarin, was being rather hostile and rude to her, and this was the first time they met. It puzzled the dragoness, but she couldn't come up with a sound, logical, reason why she was behaving that way. Perhaps fate decided they'd have a bad start? From what she gathered. It was turning out to be the most plausible reason. The dragoness reached the sixth floor and almost slammed the books she had on the table. The sheer noise it made in the usually quite library was more than enough to make Glint who was staring out the window whilst sitting in the most uncomfortable looking position he could manage; fall on the floor due to surprise. Aurea realized her emotions had almost dictated her movement and force there. She took a deep breath before glancing at Glint's direction. Worried that she somehow had gotten him hurt indirectly.
To the contrary though, the white dragon looked just as fine before the little incident about seconds ago. A little dazed yes, but otherwise than that, he was fine. He stared at the ceiling, "What. Was. That?"
Aurea couldn't help but giggle at his question. But she became silent shortly after she answered his question. "I've met Sarin..."
Glint's eyes flashed with recognition, "The two of you haven't got the best of starts haven't you?" He guessed with a sigh. The dragon flipped so that he was upright and not upside down. Checking to make sure he was definitely fine. He stretched before relaxing, as he didn't find anything wrong, the dragon returned his gaze at the dragoness. "Is this what you need? Or do you need to make another trip?"
"I'll need to make another one soon. But not right now," the dragon watched as Aurea eyed the books, she started to organize them into today's lessons and neatly stacked them side-by-side. When finished she looked at Glint. "Are you ready?"
He nodded and the dragoness was more than happy to start. The two hadn't forgotten last night. Glint wanted to pursue that topic later, and so did the dragoness.
Although, for different reasons.

The door closed as the occupants left the room. The wolf was happy, he watched as the Guardians left to pursue what they were doing before all this political jazz occurred. His tail followed him as he pondered on what his next step was. Right now, he could either go back and report his success to his tribe and be hailed as worthy of being heir. Or he could learn, learn about the dragons, their culture, their customs, traditions, everything. It would be a nice trade of perspective. He didn't know where to start though. The wolf decided to seek his only true acquaintance here, Glint.
Problem was, he didn't know where the white dragon was. He looked around, trying to find a plausible place for the dragon to be at. But something else caught his eye as he looked. A purple dragon. He was busy conversing with a dragoness, whose eyes and outline he could only see. He figured the dragoness had to have black scales to be this hard to spot. The two were heading towards a location he did not know and for once. He considered tailing them. Lykos decided to ask them if they knew where Glint was.
The silver and grey wolf approached the two silently. He got rather close before being noticed. Both dragons turned their heads at his presence and both were more than surprised to see a wolf looking back at them. Lykos spoke up before bowing. "Greetings Dÿlat and Fëmmē."
The purple one was to first to respond. "Hello there wolf. I haven't seen anyone like you around here before. What brings you here?"
"Political business Dÿlat."
Both dragons accepted his answer as politics are rather mind-boggling at times. "What are you calling me anyways?" Spyro asked as he glanced at Cynder who shrugged. The wolf sat on his haunches and replied.
"You are the purple dragon are you not? That's what we call your kind. Dÿlats."
"And fëmmē?" Cynder asked.
"Female." Lykos replied smoothly.
The two dragons glanced at each other once more. Spyro decided to introduce themselves first,
"I'm Spyro and she's–"
"Cynder," the dragoness finished for him.
"Pardon me Cynder, but I'm sure you know everyone can recognize you by your name. Even the infamous Terror of the Skies was notorious in my homeland."
"From what I've recalled wolf, your kind was neutral during the war," the dragoness said uncomfortably. Knowing that even those who didn't participate in the war knew of her made her feel uneasy. Spyro took note of her discomfort and covered her with his wing like a blanket. The wolf stood up, he gave her a gaze filled with slight pity
"We were busy dealing with inner turmoil. Tribes were at war and slaughter was high, but not as high compared to the war against the Dark Master by your kind."
"So that's why you're here? To re-establish relations, because we've lost contact since the start." Spyro said. The wolf nodded.
"I am Lykos. I hail from the Lupus tribe and I am the current heir to the position of ruler. Or Wr'farin as they are called in my language." The wolf cocked his head shortly after he said that and posed a question. "Say, do you two know where Glint is?"
The two dragons glanced at each other, unsure about the wolf's motives, despite his friendly behavior. "He could be at the library. Or elsewhere in the city..." Cynder replied, as Spyro nodded to reinforce her statement. No words were needed form him at that point.
Lykos bowed. "Thank you. Pleasure to have met you Spyro and Cynder." He took off without another word. The two dragons continued on their business. Although wondering about the wolf himself.

"Glint, comparing a war that happened one thousand years ago, to a war that only ended months ago would be like asking why a newly hatched hatchling isn't able to use their element at all. Yes, I know it's disappointing that the stupid hatchling just sits there with its cute beady eyes; but give it a chance before trying to drown it!" The yellow dragoness sighed at Glint who had a shamed expression. He muttered a quick apology at quickly got back to his work. Aurea watched him with steady eyes, she was fine educating Glint, she was fine with his questions. But one like the one earlier was purely ridiculous.
"Um, Aurea," the dragon started, "how come the clans all fought each other instead using diplomacy?"
She glanced at the dragon and looked down at his book. "How far are you?"
"Only the beginning."
The dragoness narrowed her eyes at the book before she looked Glint in the eye. "'Cause Glint, sometimes when diplomacy fails, one has to draw swords to settle a dispute."
"But... I thought a peaceful method could always work out..."
Once again, the dragoness sighed, not his stupidity, it wasn't that. It was more of his naïveté rather than stupidity. "Did you think diplomacy would have saved the world from the Dark Master?"
Glint already figured out what the answer was as she said that and looked down dejectedly. "No."
"Then keep in mind that a peaceful conclusion can not always be reached. When war is inevitable, it is inevitable." The dragon didn't respond at simply looked at his book. Aurea stared at him, deciding whether or not what she wanted to say next would really matter or not. She opened her muzzle and closed it, trying to think of how phrase it. Once she came up with a satisfactory form she spoke softly. "Glint. I admire your ideals of honesty and your pacifist-like nature." She paused, almost uncertain to go on. "But... they make me worry about you. Do you realize that without any guidance, without this education that I willingly provided you with... You'd be lost and most likely taken advantage of due to your naïve views?"
The dragon seemed to notice how downcast her mood had went. He gave her a warming smile that seemed to help her mood. "Well, now that you mention it, yes..." He trailed off for a movement before continuing. "But that's why you're here. To teach me, and you're one of my friends... I'd be more lost than ever without you... So... Thanks."
The dragoness looked away diffidently, almost feeling the verges of a blush coming on. But she suppressed it and wiped a small tear that had been involuntarily produced without her noticing until now. Glint waited for her to look back and sat there with curious eyes. There was a small awkward silence between the two before she responded. "I... Your welcome Glint." She had her head turned back towards the dragon and her eyes were glued to the floor. She fidgeted rather uncomfortably as dragon resumed his work. Having gotten used to her usual behavior. A few minutes passed before sounds of movement came from below...
"Ź'kil, I have been looking for you," a voice called out form the stairs. Glint recognized it and smiled as he stood up to greet the wolf. Aurea seemed to have fade away in the background as the two greeted each other. She didn't know what to make of the wolf yet. But apparently the two know each other. So, she could trust Glint on this one. But not really wanting to be the center of attention she stayed back and watched.
"Lykos. How was the meeting?"
"I'd say it went better than I expected Ź'kil.
Glint let out a small chuckle, "you know you can call me Glint right?" The wolf nodded and bowed lightly.
"Yes, of course. But I just happen to have a habit of calling you by my mother tongue. Apologies Glint."
"Wow. No need to apologize either... You're one hell of a civilized wolf."
"Is that really so surprising?" Lykos replied with a smirk.
The dragon gave him a grin to counter, "Heh. No."
The wolf turned his head towards Aurea who stayed silent throughout, deciding to greet her, he walked towards her. He bowed lowly and offered a closed paw. "And this must be the lovely drak'eness that I have seen at the front of the temple. You must be a close friend of Glint are you not?"
The dragoness nodded mutely, her cheeks a little crimson. She felt embarrassed by the wolf's kind words. He opened his paw to reveal a delicate topaz flower that was safely carried by the wolf. Aurea took it reluctantly, she realized that this was a kind gesture by his culture, not what it would seem like in draconian one.
He turned to Glint and said in a teasing manner. "You are a lucky dragon Glint, to have this lovely dragoness as a friend. I'm surprised you two aren't courting," he finished with a chuckle.
Courting? What is that? The white dragon thought as he shrugged. He noticed Aurea had covered her face with her wing. He didn't pay it much mind though. Lykos noticed Aurea's embarrassment, without even bothering to look and to save her from further continuity of embarrassment he walked to Glint and whispered into his ear. "You should consider it. Before someone else does so."
Aurea removed her wing, realizing something. "I have to go... Excuse me." The dragoness rushed downstairs and left the building within moments.
"Hmm, well that just ruled out my plan..." Glint stated disappointingly, he had been hoping to ask about last night. But it looks like it will have to wait until later.
"Why don't we go to your... dojo. Am I correct?" Glint nodded as the wolf looked at him. "We call a similar area the proving grounds, or sacloyant finit."
"Alright. I have nothing better to do."
The wolf smiled and began to head downstairs, Glint followed and soon took the lead as Lykos hadn't familiarized himself with the temple yet. They went through the various halls and paths to the dojo and eventually stopped at the gates. Glint glanced at Lykos who bobbed his head briefly. The dragon opened the door. Revealing a circular battle zone with rows of bleachers for spectators. They both went inside and stopped in the middle. The wolf looked at Glint, and asked, "So, how does this work?"
"If I remember correctly. You need to think of what you want as an opponent or opponents if you want to conjure training dummies."
"So..." The wolf closed his eyes and various wolves spawned and began to circle the two. "That's how it works?" Glint nodded, backing off to the spectator area to watch the wolf fight. Lykos eyed his opponents, studying them as he began to pace himself accordingly to match their positioning. He growled lowly as they began to advance like any hunting pack would. Together and with coordination. Suddenly two sprang upon him with surprising speed. Lykos, however, expected this and dodged both attempts nimbly. He retaliated by viciously destroying one attacker's throat with his jaws as it landed next to him, before backing off to recalibrate his offensive. The other backed off, as Lykos cautiously moved back. The remaining dummies regrouped into another position, losing one comrade was a considerable blow already, considering his opponents method of engagement that heavily relied on teamwork and coordination.
So they redid their offensive. Two wolves charged Lykos while the remaining two proceeded to flank him by going off to his sides. Lykos anticipated this once more and as one dummy brought its jaws into close proximity he gave it a swift swipe from his left paw, knocking it off to the side before rolling forwards to dodge a side swipe from another dummy intended to cripple his movement. He turned around and was met by another dummy's charge. The wolf twisted his body, narrowly dodging the attack before destroying the dummy with a hard kick to the face as it tumbled on the ground from its own momentum and unbalance as it missed.
Lykos went on the offensive then, he swiftly and ruthlessly destroyed the last two dummies within mere seconds as he charged them, leaping forward from his momentum, he sprang his jaw upon on the nearest dummy destroying it instantly and dodged a counterattack from the other by jumping back. The wolf smirked, as he landed gracefully. Glint didn't catch it his movement as the dummy fell to the ground after a moment, he just stared with puzzlement. It appears Lykos a managed to strike the dummy in the chest with a killing blow while dodging. And from the dragons angle, it looked like he did no such thing. Glint walked up to the wolf who turned his head to the dragon. Keeping his body in a low, almost aggressive position.
"This dojo offers great trials. Interesting how you don't use... live competitors," he said as he relaxed his stance.
"Actually, we do, do actual sparring matches with others."
"I see, it's not common though?"
"Getting into that would be a job that's not mine."
They both smiled.
"Now... show me your skills dragon," Lykos said as he bowed lightly before moving back to observe the white dragon with the upmost interest. Glint focused on the ape dummies he spawned eyeing them. They imitated actual apes and hollered war-cries at him before charging.
Glint braced himself and the white dragon let his instincts define his movements as the dummies advanced.
A/N: And there you have it, the introduction of the wolves.
Next chapter probably won't be as long as this considering the scenes that are planned. So it should come out faster. Should...
