Fireflies

Chapter Twenty One

Sikowitz grunted as he rolled over onto his back. He panted a bit before looking over to his left. Isaac stood there, breathing deeply as he looked at his brother. Sikowitz slowly transformed back into his human form as did Isaac. They both looked to see Jelico roaring as he battled the military and immortals. Looking to his shoulder he pulled out a shard of glass. Looking back to Isaac he watched as he walked up to the window. He stared on as the dragon burned another section of the city.

"He may be trying to kill all immortals... But he'll do more damage to humans than any immortal ever could" he said smiling before looking back to Sikowitz.

"We can stop this" Sikowitz said getting to his knees.

"I don't want to stop it. You were once one of the greatest hunters. Now, look how weak you are" Isaac growled before walking over and slamming his knee into his brother's nose. Sikowitz fell backwards blood dripping from his nose. Isaac stood over him before grabbing his head. He picked him up and looked at him.

"You became weak to protect a weak species" he growled before throwing him into a wall. His body crashed through the wall making him howl in pain. He looked to his shoulder where the glass once was, now impaled there was a sharpened piece of rebar. He sat up and looked at the wound. He tried pull it out. However before he could Isaac grabbed it. He gripped ahold of it and started to pull his brother along using the piece of metal.

Sikowitz cried out in pain from this. He was pulled up to a wall and was pinned against it. He looked at Isaac who slammed the rebar into the wall. He looked at Sikowitz who was seethed in pain. Smiling he turned to look at the window again. He looked down to see Tori was standing in front of two hunters and Carmilla.

He looked up to see Jelico breath fire at them. Suddenly Tori started glowing and her hands shot up. The flames went around her. Isaac smiled before looking back to his brother.

"Your student is amazing. She's truly powerful and learning her place in the prophecy" he said before bending over. He grabbed another piece of rebar. He smiled a bit before looking back to Sikowitz. "If mother could see us now" he said before suddenly throwing the rebar at his brother.

Tori's eyes were wide as she stared down at her hands. They glowed white with arterial energy. Her ears flattened against her head as she looked up at the dragon. It looked at her, and smirked a bit as he looked her over.

"One pure of heart, a decider of fate. So this must be one of your times. If you think I'm bad wait until Pandora's box is unleashed" Jelico said with a chuckle.

Suddenly there was a bright flash making him look back. Tori looked past the dragon too. Her eyes shot wide to see a mushroom cloud. The government had just nuked LA. She watched as Jelico lifted up and flew right for the cloud. Suddenly he was consumed by it. Almost as soon as the dragon was in it, the flames started to recede. Tori watched in awe as the dragon stood on a building, glowing brightly. It had absorbed the nuclear energy.

"We need to fucking move" Carmilla screamed out.

Tori looked back before scooping Drake and Summer up. Together her and Carmilla bounded away. They landed on a building and looked as Jelico roared out. He breathed a fireball at a building. They watched in shock as a mini mushroom cloud appeared.

"Great, he's now a nuclear dragon" Drake said looking to Summer.

"That would be awesome if he wasn't trying to kill us" she said looking to her brother.

They looked as Tori became human once more. She turned slowly to look at the others. "I don't know how much longer we can hold his attention" she said softly.

"His attention isn't the one you need to worry about right now" a voice said from their right. They looked to see Isaac looking at them. His hands were bloody. In his left hand he gripped onto Sikowitz's severed head.

Tori's eyes shot wide, tears poured from her eyes. His face was frozen in a death scream. His jaw was slack and his eyes were sunken into his head. His face was covered in blood and his hair was matted down from the blood. Fresh blood continued to drip from the stump of his neck. Isaac smiled before throwing the severed head at Tori's feet. She looked down at the severed head of her teacher. Tears flowed in streams as slowly she looked back up to Isaac.

"You three, figure out how to gain Jelico's attention" she said glancing back to Carmilla and the hunters.

"Take his head off" Carmilla said making Tori lock eyes with her.

"I intend to" she responded with a growl.

Tori looked as Carmilla grabbed both Summer and Drake and bounded to another building. Turning she focused on Isaac who was smiling.

"Erwin trained you, he may have been my older brother, but I was the first out of the two of us to become a werewolf. I taught him to be a werewolf" he said before turning. He walked to the edge of the building. He looked out across the burning city. Jelico was now contending with war ships out in the bay. He was destroying them with ease. There were still several sections of the city untouched by the dragon. He chuckled a bit before looking back to Tori.

"Do not make the mistake that I took pleasure in killing my kin" he said looking at the severed head.

"Then why the fuck do it" she screamed at him.

He looked at the head before looking back up to Tori. Some tears still dripped from her eyes. He sighed a bit before looking as the dragon flew by. It swooped over them leaving burning and sinking ships in the bay. "He betrayed me, turned his back on the clan we started. It was personal" he responded.

"He was your brother" she shouted.

"Exactly" he boomed pointing at her. "Brothers should not betray each other. He betrayed me" he roared slamming his fist into his chest. His demeanor changed as he smiled at her. "I told him before I killed him, I would destroy everything he cared about. Starting with you" he growled, his teeth becoming sharp. "You, you I will take pleasure in killing" he said as he started to grow in size.

Tori looked at the head of her teacher one last time. She started to glow with the energy once more. Her skin split and a pure white werewolf, glowing with energy stood there. Both looked at one another before charging each other.

Drake walked up to a fallen soldier. Next to his body was a javelin rocket launcher. Picking it up he walked across the building. He looked as Summer and Carmilla came up to his side.

"Carmilla" he said looking at her.

"Yeah?" She asked looking to see the dragon roar out.

"Take Summer, and get out of here. Give her a good life and treat her well" he said looking at her.

Summer's eyes shot wide. She spun her brother around and slammed her open hand into his shoulder. He looked at her as she stared at him. "No, I am not leaving you" she hissed at him.

"Yes, you are" he said looking at her. "We have to assume, we won't beat Jelico. If not, we need at least one person to live to uncover Pandora's Box. That's the only weapon that can kill it once it's free" he said pulling her to him as he held onto the launcher.

She struggled and fought as she sobbed into his chest. "I can't leave you" she cried.

"I know" he said. Quickly he spun around and pushed her into Carmilla's arms. He smiled at her, a tear dripping from his own eye. "I love you Summer" he said.

"No, Drake, I love you, don't do this" she screamed out as Carmilla held onto her.

Drake just nodded. He watched as the vampire nodded. Turning she bounded away pulling his sister along. Over the sounds of burning buildings, war, chaos, and the dragon he could here her scream as she disappeared from sight. He turned to see Jelico flying and burning another section of the city. Mini mushroom clouds were left in his wake. Hefting the launcher up he looked through the sight. It tracked the dragon. He watched as suddenly there was a monotone sound telling him he was locked. He squeezed the triggers and the missile took off.

Tossing the launcher down he watched. The missile followed the dragon before suddenly slamming into its underside. That caused it to flip through the air and slam into a building. He smiled as Jelico stood up and looked in his direction. Drake smirked as the dragon charged him. He looked as suddenly the dragon came to a stop feet from the edge of the building.

"You, you are not an immortal" it growled at him.

"No, I am a protector of humanity" he responded looking into the dragon's eyes.

"You're a human, I am not to kill you" the dragon responded before starting to turn away.

"Dad, I know you are in there" he shouted making the dragon stop and turn to look at him.

"A part of him is, the darkness that was in his heart. That same piece is preventing me from killing you right now" it said staring at him.

Drake looked at the dragon and slowly raised his gun up. "I want my father back" he growled looking at it.

"Your father is gone" it said before turning. "Leave, go and make a life somewhere safe".

Drake roared out as he fired his gun. The bullets bounced harmlessly off of Jelico's scales. It looked back at him before flapping its wings and taking off. The blowback knocked Drake over. He rolled across the rooftop before coming to a stop near the ledge. He looked to see two fights. Tori and Isaac, as well as Jade and his father. He ejected the magazine to his gun. Sighing a bit he clutched his gun.

Tori jumped back as Isaac snapped at her. His clawed hand shot out and slammed into her chest. The blow sent her reeling across the roof. She bounced into a door frame. Looking up to him he was on her. He grabbed her throat and picked her up. He roared at her as he stabbed his claws into her chest. She roared out in pain as he held her tightly. She struggled to get free but he held her firmly.

Her clawed hand shot out and stabbed into his neck. The attack made him release her. He staggered backwards as blood gushed from his neck. It wasn't a mortal wound. He was now just more angry.

Tori started to glow brightly once again. The power filled her, giving her a strength boost. However it did nothing as Isaac slammed his foot into her muzzle. That impact caused her to howl out in pain. Her lower jaw had been shattered. It hung loosely from her mouth. She looked up at him as she tried to back up from him. However he shot forward, his hand grabbing her. He picked her up by her throat and quickly slammed her onto the rooftop. He stared down at her. In a flash he stabbed his clawed hand into her abdomen. She whimpered out in pain as she felt his clawed fingers moving her intestines around.

This was her end, killed by a fellow werewolf. Killed by the same one who had killed her teacher. She was growing weak from her blood loss. He was far more powerful and dangerous. Her glowing aura subsided. She stared at him, her eyes growing heavy from weakness. She looked passed Isaac to see Jelico swoop over roaring. Behind him was a massive squadron of fighter jets. The military was trying to make one more last stand. One more rally.

Her eyes closed briefly as she saw flashes of Jade, her friends, and her family. She was going to die, she wanted to die with peaceful thoughts.

Suddenly blood splashed across her face. Her eyes shot open to see a smoking hole under Isaac's collar bone. He released her and backed up roaring. She slowly looked down to see her intestines hanging from her abdomen. She fell to her knees, her jaw still swaying loosely. She looked as suddenly Isaac was shot three more times. She saw smoke coming from his body. He had been shot with silver. Looking up she saw on a building, a hundred yards away was Drake.

The Death Angel had saved her life. Slowly, she got back to her feet and walked up to Isaac. Her right hand was over the wound where Isaac had ripped out her organs. She walked up to him as he slowly transformed back into a man. Blood covered his teeth and was dripping from his mouth. He looked up at her and smiled.

"Well, this was not what I had in mind" he said chuckling a bit.

Suddenly her left hand shot out. The claws slashing his throat wide. She could see his vertebrae as the organs in his neck swung loosely. Her foot kicked out pinning him to the roof. She stared down at him as blood poured out around him. Keeping him pinned she reached down with her left hand. She wrapped the clawed fingers around his head. In a quick motion she ripped his head from his body. She gripped onto the head and looked at it. Now Isaac was dead.

She tossed the head to the burning streets below. Slowly she staggered away before falling to her knees. She looked out across the burning city. If she was a protector of humanity she was doing a poor job. Jelico was free because of her. Millions dead because of her.

A roar sounded behind her making her look back. Jelico was flying at her. His wings were flapping fast. He was locked onto her. She just closed her eyes.

Suddenly Jelico let out a loud and pain filled roar. She looked at him as he was gasping and gagging. He was clawing at the air as if trying to regain something. Suddenly he crashed into the building she was on. She looked down as the building collapsed with her still on it. She disappeared into the flames, smoke, and debris of the falling building.
