Chapter 27
The next day Sam went to Jack's house with two different teams since the truck was showing up to pack all of Jack things up and move them to the new house. The truck showed up ten minutes after Sam arrived.
The teams helped load everything into the truck and then they left for the new house and unloaded all of Jack's things in the house then the truck left after Sam thank the two men on the truck. Once they were gone, Sam started moving things around with help from the two teams. They had just finished when another truck arrived. Sam went to see who it was then turned to the teams and said "It's ok guys, the new furniture just arrived." she said, smiling.
They waited until the driver and his off-sider opened the back door on the truck before going out to help take everything inside. Once the truck was unloaded and everything was inside, Sam thanked them and they left. Sam walked back inside to help get things sorted out.
They were had finished when yet another truck showed up, it was their new fridge/freezer, washing machine and dryer, since they were trading in their old appliances for new ones. Once the new appliances were in place and the old ones on the back of the truck, the driver left. Sam walked inside to see the guys sitting around and relaxing.
"Thanks for your help guys."
"You're welcome Sam, how much longer before you and Jack will be able to move in here?"
"Another month… if there are no more attacks."
"Do you think there might be Sam?"
"I really couldn't say. Come on let's head back to the SGC, SG1 is due back in an hour."
Sam got into one of the SUVs and they all headed back to the base. Sam went and got changed then to see what Jon was up to, she knew she would find him in the mess hall since she knew that is where Jack would go. When she saw him eating pie while doing his homework, so she walked over to him.
"Hey." she said.
he looked up her and smiled. "Hi Carter, how did the moving go?"
"Good. All done. How was school?"
"Good, I'm just studying for my SAT although I already did them years ago."
"I'm sure you can handle it, anyway SG1 will be back in the next ten minutes." Jon looked at his watch then closed his books and put the last of the pie in his mouth.
"I'll meet you in the control room." Sam told him.
Jon could only nod, since his mouth was full.
Sam was in the control room sh for few minutes when Jon bounced up the steps, just as the gate started spinning. When the worm hole was formed and iris closed.
"Getting IDC… It's SG1." Walter said.
"Open the iris." Sam ordered and she and Jon walk down to the gate room and waited. They saw the iris open and Teal'c and Daniel came running through.
"Get ready to close the iris." Daniel called out.
"Daniel?"
"Two super soliders showed up, Samantha and Jack were diverting them away from the gate so we could escape, they were right behind us." There was a tense few moments before Jack and Sam finally came through the gate.
"Close the iris!" Jack yelled. They all heard two thuds then the gate shut down. Jack and Samantha walked down the ramp together.
"Jack are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. We had to leave our gear behind though. We're lucky to have the shield, otherwise we would have been dead my now."
"Well Anubis is after something, SG4, 8, 11, 15 and 20 have also came across the super soldiers while they been off world over the past two days."
"What is he after?" Jon asked.
"I don't know." Sam said.
Just then the gate started spinning everyone moved off the ramp and aimed their weapons and waited. General Hammond was in the control room when SG1 returned. When the wormhole was formed and the iris closed. Once again, they waited for confirmation of who it was and when the Lieutenant called out that it was SG7 they waited until they came through the gate before lowering their weapons.
"This must be your guy's lucky day." Said O'Neill.
"Why's that Colonel?"
"You didn't have super soldiers after you guys."
"What? You're joking."
"Nope, Anubis is after something." Sam thought about each of the teams, then she looked at Daniel.
"Daniel was there any ancient ruins where you guys were?"
"Yes, why?"
"The planets SG4, 8, 11, 15 and 20, gated to all had ancient ruins."
"Are you thinking that Anubis is after something from the ancients?"
"Yes but what?"
"I think I know what it is." the Captain on SG7 said.
"And what's that?"
"We came across another ancient depository."
"What, another one?"
"Jack, I think that is what he is after… one of us might have to have our head sucked."
"Sam, no."
"I'll send a message to Thor. I think you guys will have to go back there till Thor shows up. If he doesn't make it and Anubis is there…" Sam looked at Jack, he nodded and Sam turned and left the gate room.
She walked up the steps to the control room and sat down at one of the computers, she typeed in the message and sent it with an Asgard signal.
"Major what's going on?"
"We think Anubis is after the ancient depository, Sir. SG7 found one."
"Are you suggesting that SG1 go to the planet?"
"Yes Sir, with back up. They can stay there till Thor shows up, or if Anubis shows up and there's no choice, Jack will have to get the download."
"All right, Sergeant get SG5 geared up. They are going to help SG7 cover SG1's six."
"Yes Sir." He stood up and went to the phone and called SG5 where he knew they would be while Sam and General Hammond went down to the gate room.
"Colonel I'm sending SG5 and 7 here to cover SG1's six."
"Thank you Sir."
"Sir, I suggest that they take one of the MALPs and a radar so they can keep an eye out for any motherships showing up."
"Do it." Sam walked out of the gate room while the others waited.
They talked amongst themselves until SG5 entered the gate room. General Hammond told them what their mission was. Sam used the remote to move the MALP in to the gate room with Siler behind her with the ramps.
Once they were in the gate room, Slier put the ramps over the steps while Sam moved the MALP to the end of the ramp, then she passed it to Samantha. Then she returned to the control room where Hammond turn to Sam.
"Dial it up." He said and the gate started spinning.
Sam walked back down to the gate room and stood next to Jack.
"Jack." he turned and looked at her.
"Don't worry, I'll wait long as possible."
"I know."
"Come here." they hugged each other.
"Don't worry Sam, everything is going to be fine." Once the wormhole was formed they pulled apart so he could give her a kiss.
"Be careful!"
"We all will." He said and turned to the rest of SG1 and to SG5.
"Ok campers, move out, I just hope Thor will get there before Anubis shows up."
They walked up the ramp with the MALP and disappeared through the gate and the gate shut down.
"All we can do is wait." Hammond said.
"I know Sir." Sam said.
"Let's just hope that Thor shows up."
"I agree." They left the gate room and went their separate ways.
When the three teams stepped through the gate, SG5 and 7 stayed to guard the gate while SG1 headed off to the ruins. Daniel was checking the writing while the others kept an eye out for any jaffa. They were there for over two hours when Jack stood up and walked over to where Daniel was.
"Anything?"
"Yes." he pushed some buttons and the device appeared before behind them.
"Woo." Jack said. Samantha and Teal'c came over to see what Daniel had found.
"Now we wait for Thor to show up," Samantha said.
"Colonel we got incoming."
"Crap."
He took his hat off and put it down his front of his vest. They could hear gunfire so Samantha, Daniel and Teal'c went to different parts of the structure and began firing at the jaffa while Jack leant ford and let the device grab his head. Sam turned to see what was happening before turning back and firing again. Then she heard the device move, and turned to see that Jack had collapsed onto the ground.
"Teal'c, Daniel grab Jack. I'll cover you."
Teal'c and Daniel went and lift Jack up and started moving while Sam put a block of C4 with a detonator on the device, then she started running after them, turning and firing to cover them.
"Open the gate, we're coming back." Sam said over her radio as they were going up the hill. Sam was hit twice by a staff blast just as she pushed the button which caused the C4 to explode behind them.
"Sam!" a Lieutenant from SG5 called out. They got to the gate the Lieutenant ran down to get Sam.
"Go! tell Jon that I love him." Then her eyes closed and the young Lieutenant was hit in the arm. He got up and ran up to the gate and through it to the other side, just before the gate shut down.
Samantha open her eyes and she rolled onto her stomach and dragged herself over to some bushes and hid in the under the undergrowth and lost consciousness.
When the gate shut down, Jon look around for Samantha. The wondered Lieutenant walked over to him.
"Sorry Jon."
"Where is she? why did you leave her behind?!" Jon yelled angrily.
"She didn't make it. She asked me to tell you that she loves you before she died." He said before heading to the infirmary.
"Jon, the place was covered in jaffa and super soldiers. She was covering for us," Daniel explained.
"We will wait for three days before sending a MALP through and if it's all clear, we'll send a team through to retrieve her body." General Hammond told him.
Word spread quickly about what had happened to Samantha so everyone stayed clear of Jon.
Back on the planet, Samantha had woken. She could hear the jaffa and super soldiers close by, so all she could so is wait till night fall. Finally, she heard them move away from where she was hiding, and she peered out from her hiding spot to see jaffa and super soldiers everywhere.
She got her canteen out and took couple of mouthfuls of water. Then she realised she was healed. So she watched and waited.
Two hours later it was dark, she could see the fire torches around what was left of the ruins after the explosion. She moved from where she was to get a closer look at what they were up to.
When she was close enough she saw all the jaffa together, two super soldiers and someone wearing a black cloak, she could hear him yelling at them, telling the jaffa how disappointed he was before returning to his he turned around and walk back to ship.
Samantha was shocked when she saw the two super solider shooting all the jaffa then turn around and walk back to the ship. She watched as it let the planet. Sam could hear the jaffa moaning so she went over to check on them. When she approached the first one, his eyes were still open. "Hang on, you going to be fine."
"Who are you?"
"Shh… just leave everything to me."
She put her hands over wh wounds and healed the jaffa in seconds. Then she healed the others, one by one. By the time she healed the last one she was exhausted. She sat back leaning against the wall with her eyes close. The jaffas got up from the ground and checked their wounds; they were shocked to find none. They looked at Samantha leaning against a tree with her eyes shut.
"I've seen this girl's clothing before." then he stepped forward and look over the clothing, his eyes widened in recognition and he turned to the others.
"SG1."
"The tau'ri, she's just a child." another jaffa said.
"I'm more than a child." was making them look at her. She opened her eyes and looked at them.
"I'm Dr Samantha Carter."
"You're just a child."
"That's on the outside, on the inside I'm an adult." then she stood up.
"What are you going to do now?"
"We don't know. Anubis was not happy that this didn't work."
"Do you know why he wanted it for?"
"No, but he knows that the tau'ri has got it and he going to destroy their world" Sam eyes widened.
"We had an idea earth would be one of his targets, we've pissed him off twice before and he failed to destroy us."
"What do you mean he failed twice, gods do not fail!"
Sam laughed. "How many gods has SG1 killed in the past seven years… lots, look have you somewhere to go?"
"No."
"You heard of Bra'tac and the rebel jaffa?"
"Yes and Teal'c."
"Well there you go." At that moment there was a bright light and Samantha was gone, the jaffa were shocked and looked at each other.
Sam blinked and smiled. "Thor."
"Dr Carter, sorry for being late."
"It ok, Jack got the download and he's back on earth."
"Why are you here?"
"I was shot." she turned around to showed Thor the holes in the back of her uniform where she had been shot.
"Thor, Anubis was after the ancient depository, luckily we to beat him to it and now his next target is earth."
"I will let the council know and see if we can help."
"Thanks, can you send me back down, I'm going to be taking the jaffa to Bra'tac. Anubis had them killed, but I revived them."
"Why would Anubis kill his own jaffa?"
"He has his super soldiers now, he doesn't need the jaffa any more, that is why."
"I understand, I'll go and report this to the council."
"Ok, you know if we do destroy Anubis and his super soldiers, this could be the end of the war."
"It might be."
"I think it will Thor, after all SG1 is well known among the galaxy."
"That is true, I must depart."
"Ok see you back on earth." Then she was beamed back down again.
