Hello my readers, I'm finally back with a new chapter. I'm sorry for the looong wait, I just had trouble writing and a busy life. I guess.

A lot had to happen in this chapter and therefore I also added Nick, as a member of the Denali coven. He's really sweet on Tanya and likes Alaska a lot.

This is an action-packed chapter with some new introductions. Now, don't worry they won't play that big of a part later on, but they are crucial here.

Chapter 43: The Denali's - *Bling …!?*

.

Eleazar

Here we are, the moment I knew would come someday. Yes, ever since I left the Volturi decades ago, I was pretty certain I would stand against them at one point. And after that time three years ago, it was definitely clear a fight was coming. Aro said it himself back then and he just needed a good excuse.

And he had not just sat there in his castle waiting either, he'd been preparing. There were so many new gifted guards, it was unsettling. But we had gained strength too. Enough to make an impact. Enough to take out the twins. That was such a relief. But it wasn't over yet and they still had the numbers to surround us, though not fully.

For a while there was a standstill, until Caius moved and Benjamin reacted. That Egyptian boy had done so much, he must be as exhausted mentally as Bella is. He wasn't giving up however, with Tia beside him, he kept his focus on Renata. His response to Caius' pose was big; an all-out attack, no holding back, show of his power.

The ground shook violently, harder than it had before, a big crater opened up and swallowed Aro's physical shield whole. She screamed while falling, falling deep, deeper, until it stopped in a muted whoosh and bubbling sound. Which was followed by a rush of water, sizzling and smoke, coming up from the giant hole. The edges crumbled, rocks tumbled down and took parts of other defeated enemies with them.

Everyone was shocked by the sight and momentarily frozen on the spot. "Mama mia!" Carmen whispered. She got closer to me and looked me in the eye. There was worry on her face, and love. "Mi amor …," I murmured back. We would give anything for each other. "Te quiero, te amo," we said together, a little louder. We smiled at one another, before refocusing on the situation at hand.

That was good, because most were coming out of their daze. The battle was restarting and as some tried to move away from the crater, others were beginning to push them towards it. Like the fires before, this had become a weapon for all to use.

The real werewolves were dangerously close to ledge, growling and unsure what to do. The three kings had joined up again and they made sure others were between them and that pit of doom. Athenodora was halfway to reaching her mate and she was hesitating. No one was near her to help her, nor were any of us. She looked back and I followed her gaze.

Sulpicia was on the other side of the pit, with only one guard with her. Both were backing away terrified, eyes flashing between the field and the giant hole in front of them. Neither seemed very capable of fighting, so the man with the light brown hair must be gifted. I tried to get a read on him with my ability, but he was too far away.

Then, suddenly, me and my wife got knocked into each other hard, our heads hitting hardest. I felt cracks on the side of my skull and pain coming with that. Carmen hissed and gritted her teeth. "Bastardo!" she exclaimed with fury. It fuelled my own anger and we retaliated simultaneously. Don't mess with us!, I thought. Hah, you unleased our Spanish temper now! It may not actually run through our veins anymore, but we are hot-blooded.

Carmen

Oh my goodness, this was seriously intense and worrying. But we would not be defeated easily. No! And how dare they attack us like that. I was normally a peaceful person, yet now those Volturi had pushed me too far. In fact, I was not the only one who'd had enough, no, all on our side were close to losing it. Teeth were bared all around, growls, hisses and curse words rented the air. Even I could not help myself.

Memories of the many evil acts they had committed passed through my mind. Most prominent was Irina's execution, it made me feel like I still had it; red hot blood in my veins. To the left of me Kate let out a frustrated scream as she shocked the next guard to his knees.

Garret was right there with her to rip his head off; they worked together so well, as if they'd been a pair much longer than three years. Kate's eyes were hard, cold and calculating; constantly searching out Caius on the field. He was her main target and Tanya's as well. She was to my right, forming a team with Nick.

Those two were just about getting into a flow. I was happy for them, as they seemed to be a good match. Were they mates? I wasn't sure, but I got the sense Nick wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. He liked it a lot with us in Denali and I could see him becoming a permanent member of our coven. Which was fine with me. We had built up a good life in Alaska and we wanted to keep it that way.

Hitting my current opponent in certain key places was helping with that. Internally I shook my head, because I learned these moves from a self-defence video for humans. Hah, it worked well between vampires too. Quick jabs up the nose, against the throat, the sternum and finishing with a kick to the private area. The guy doubled over and I tore his arms off, while bringing him to the ground.

My foot on his back to pin him down and take his head. As a finish I threw that towards the pit Benjamin had created, using all my strength. It flew and flew and then hit a blur of movement. It was the fast Volturi guard battling Patrick, it hit him in his head at an angle and made the 'lightning-bolt' lose his balance.

I gasped in shock at what unfolded next. That wasn't my intention. They were too close to the edge and as that guard fell, he grabbed Patrick and they both disappeared. Maggie saw her boyfriend go at the last split second and screamed his name in despair. A miracle, please, God, spirits, whomever, I prayed silently.

Unfortunately I couldn't watch for that to happen as my attention was called to the fight around me. Guilt filled me and I stopped breathing for a while. If only I had seen them, but they were just too fast. Them going at full speed; we were the same as humans were with regular vampires running. Eleazar had seen it happen and knew what I was feeling by looking at my face.

He came close, touched me to calm me down and gave me words of encouragement to help me focus. We decided to help our sisters reach Caius. I slashed a woman's face with my nails and pushed her out of our way. Don't try and stop us, I thought. But of course they did, those rats were everywhere. The field was in chaos once more. Vampires and spirit-wolves running, jumping, grabbing and tearing. Bodies tumbling through the snow.

Kate

I've never felt so worn down, as I do today. Using my power so much had its toll. We would definitely need to go hunting as soon as possible. But, I could not focus on that right now, I needed to hold on, move forward. With teeth gritted and a growl escaping me now and then, I battled the next enemy to cross my path. Garret, my charming mate, was right beside me and we worked together so well.

From the start it had been as easy as breathing between us. We sensed what the other one was planning and reacted accordingly. Ugh, it was frustrating how slow we progressed towards our main target; Caius. That white-haired rat bastard needed to die! Every time I saw his face, I was reminded of Irina's death, of how he executed her just for fun and to get us to attack.

Well, he got what he wished now! Grrr! I wanted him to look at me and see his doom, coming to claim him. He wasn't doing that however, because me and my sister weren't the only ones gunning for tyrant. Near the pit Benjamin created, the real werewolves were his main focus.

The kings and the few guards they had with them, kept pushing them closer to the edge. It seemed to a good move for the Volturi, but as I studied Lucian and his pals, I saw how tense they were, struggling to keep their heads clear, as the instinctual beast within gained more ground. They were on the verge of fight or flight, salivating so much, it was almost turning into foam.

Glowing eyes darted around, searching for an escape. Then, fate decided, when Pjotr's paws slipped, he tried to balance himself, but in the end he fell anyway. A long heart-stopping howl echoing up as he went down. It changed everything for the other two, the switch in temperament was visible in their eyes. Jumping forward they attacked with all their strength, catching the guards closest by surprise. They screamed in horror as the two huge bodies landed on top of them.

Hah, it was stupid, to challenge creatures so feral in nature, like that. The whole scene turned into an all-out brawl, as more joined in the fight. Wait, I thought, leave a piece for me! I looked at Garret with fire; "Let's up the pace, we need to get there, now!" I shocked opponent after opponent and my coven-members finished them off while we ran.

So much was happening around me, us, it was chaos. To the left one of the spirit-wolves won a fight, but then to the right I saw Alistair, Charles and Makenna barely staying alive. Their previous injuries had weakened them quite a bit. Our chances of winning were slowly diminishing; that thought flashed through my mind. Which was followed by something shiny, flying through the air and into the pit. *Bling!*

What the heck …?! I almost felt like my mind was playing tricks on me. Until allies started to emerge from that hole. The silver werewolf was first, crawling up the side at the other end. He came face to face with Sulpicia and her helper. Oh my, what a sight to see; Aro's wife in his mouth being shaken like a ragdoll. And the guy was no help as it turned out, he ran to save his own skin.

Patrick was next, without a shirt and his hair full of debris. He shook his head a second and then flashed towards his Maggie. This was good and it sent a wave of energy through our group. Then, a horn sounded, a battle-cry and four figures came out from among the trees surrounding the field. Four faces I hadn't seen in centuries, but they were a very welcome surprise.

Something bling-y and sparkling was in their hands, coming from items they were holding. As they advanced, I noticed what they were now swinging around: Bright Shining Weapons, I'd never seen before. They made quite an impact.

Garret

A real battle, one with a real good cause too, and I was there to fight in it. Yes, I know I shouldn't be excited about it, but before I met my soulmate Kate, I was often pretty bored. And this was something to break that. A bonus was my love's skills, we were perfect together, a real team. And how everything evolved, that was just …wow! So many gifted ones against each other.

Plus the two sets of werewolves thrown in the mix, it made it epic. Something to remember, even without our super memory. This day was going to change the vampire-world forever. In more ways than one, as four strangers charged the field with bright shining weapons. They made quite an impact with their primitive outfits, mostly made of leather and fur.

And their body armour and helmets. Hah, only one word came to mind: Vikings! Now, no one thought their clubs and swords could do any damage to a vampire, but it appeared they could, really, actually could. I had no idea what they were made of, but they sure as hell didn't shatter when they hit their first target. No, in fact, they cracked skulls and cut off limbs of Volturi members like they were human.

Who on earth were they and where did they come from? A short laugh came from beside me and I turned to see Katie smile. To the right Tanya commented: "Well, what do you know, they did make it!" My eyebrows shot up. "You know them?" I had to ask. Why had we never heard of them? They sure stood out, even when they would wear modern clothes.

The two men and two women were tall and strong, seasoned fighters. And those guys had big beards to boot. Tanya took the lead in answering. "We met them centuries ago, well it's closer to a millennium actually, after we moved from our homeland, Slovakia." They were good company, even if a bit rough around the edges." She grinned at that.

"But, they're not very social and got their own island to live on, somewhere near Greenland." They only leave it when they need to hunt or go for supplies." They like to live the old way, like they were taught and they love to fight with weapons, of their own making." We had a moment to watch them move, as most eyes were turned their way. Kate added: "Looks like they found a special kind of metal, or diamond-like substance or whatever that is."

During the last seconds we were given as a break, I studied that metal-like substance. It had very light silver colour, but also something green to it. How to describe it better? The only thing coming to mind was Kryptonite. Yeah, weird, I know, but I have recently seen the movie 'Superman'. Sew me! Kate, and Emmet too, have been getting me up to speed with 21th century things. And I'm way behind, on lots of stuff.

With these new allies on the scene we resumed our course to our main target. Faster! We broke into a run and just knocked opponents out of our way. They didn't matter, especially when we would take out the "kings". Others from our group moved in as well, from different sides. Looking and listening closer, I noticed all fighters with heartbeats were starting to get tired.

Wolves of both kind were breathing heavy or should I say they were panting. Lucian and his team especially. I could only imagine the effects of the blue moon beginning to fade. Non the less they were still giving it all they got! And so would we! I growled and jumped the next enemy in my path, ripping off his arms and biting his neck. Soon we were speeding parallel to the Vikings, who grinned at us while yielding their "alien weapons'.

"Better late than never, hey!" the one with a reddish beard yelled. "We wouldn't have missed a fight like this for the world!" the other male added. Finally only ten yards or so separated us from Aro and Caius. I glanced at my love beside me, as she powered up to the max. Sparks came from her hands, crackling in the air. Her eyes were dark, holding a steely glint. With teeth gritted she called him out; "Caius!" The blonde bastard turned his head and seemed to just become aware of more threatening him than the real werewolves.

Tanya

That one moment, when my sister called him out, proved to be crucial. Because Lucian grabbed his chance and sank his teeth into Caius' shoulder. Everything went so fast after that. Our Viking friends stopped Aro from helping his brother and we jumped into the fray. Anthenodora had suddenly appeared and thrown herself on the black werewolf, clawing and biting franticly, trying to help her mate.

Boris however wanted none of that, he plucked the screeching woman off his leader like she was just a pet cat. He threw her towards the crater and she almost fell into the hole, almost. Lucian was shaking his prey hard and clamping down harder with his massive jaws. The crunching sound was loud enough to make any vampire flinch and Caius cry out in pain.

Then, though he looked so feral, the giant beast locked eyes with me, followed by Kate. The power emanating from both of them was impressive. Even with nails tearing up his muzzle, he didn't faze. He, his friends and I and my sister had been waiting for this moment for so long, there was no stopping us. He lowered his nemesis to our level, so we could grab hold.

Kate took his other shoulder, the base of his neck and gave him the full force of her gift. I had both his legs and we then tore him apart together! Brutal as it seemed, the only thing in my mind was the image of Irina dying the same way!

Next he should burn. I looked around and ironically noticed 'the staff' lying on the ground. In a flash I picked it up. The thing was dented severely. I pressed the button; nothing. I shook it and tried again. A second or two passed … and it flicked on! Hah, this was fate, or karma, for that rat to leave this world like my sister! We all wore satisfactory smirks at the blazing fire and purple smoke. Even the wolves, who let their tongues hang out.

The downside however was, with their main target gone, the werewolves' energy-level dropped significantly. I could see it in their eyes. Next the moment of victory was broken by a heartbroken cry from our enemy's mate. "Caius! Nooo!" Desperate for revenge she jumped on Lucian's back again and sank her teeth in deep. She had no idea what she was doing. The black leader tried to reach her, while he moaned in pain, but he couldn't.

Again his friend Boris came to help. He pulled, but she was stuck like a tick. There was only one way left then; grabbing hold of her head, her jaws and tearing them apart. It was an awful sight, her head being split in half. The pieces were thrown into the dying fire of her partner. The flames shot up again as they burned together now.

Growls from behind us made us turn around. Aro was furious at his loss, but he was getting more and more outnumbered now, thanks to our Viking friends. You could see the wheels of his mind turning, as he tried to come up with a plan. Marcus however already has one in place. He starts backing up and Demetri follows suit, as do some of the other guards left. Aro soon realises he has no choice but to do the same. They're heading the way they came, towards the hybrid sisters who were now in the company of their brother Nahuel and Huilen.

Like magnets all on the field react. The Volturi flock towards their remaining kings. Our group track after them at some distance. Strangely I'm a bit unsure about what to do now. I feel Aro deserves to die, but Marcus does not. During our previous encounter the most gentle and depressed king might have chosen death if it had come to a fight, but things had changed. He wanted to live this time, I could see it. In the distance stood a man, a guard with light-brown hair, almost frozen. Only his head turned left to right as he looked around the field. He seemed shocked at all the devastation our battle had left behind.

Nick

Jeez, this battle was intense! Really something else. I felt somewhat off balance by all this. I was a lover more than a fighter. But Tanya gave me focus and I loved being around her. I also loved living in Denali. It felt so free and comfortable. These past months I've started making plans of things I still wanted to do and who to share them with. The whole coven here felt like family and I'd love to show them where I'm from and introduce them to my friends.

Ugh, stop, I told myself, as these thoughts passed through my head, concentrate on getting there now. This war wasn't over yet. The Volturi started running for their lives and we followed them. All the wolves were in the back, panting hard as they got tired. It was bound to happen, we've been at it for half a day almost. Tanya ran beside me and in the distance someone caught her eye.

I looked in the same direction and a male guard with light-brown hair. He seemed frozen for a moment, before he came to life again and started moving towards Aro. This action made me curious, because when I spotted him before, he seemed more intent on fleeing. What happened next was even stranger; Aro picked up speed and took the lead in the Volturi's retreat. The distance between him and the others began to increase, yard after yard.

Was this man a secret weapon 'our king' tried to reach? To me that seemed the only option, yet as they reach each other, the unknown guard suddenly makes an aggressive move. As Aro was just about to pass him, the guy spins, grabs him by the back of neck with one hand and wraps the other around the front harshly. Totally surprised the king struggles to get loose, but that only results in the front hand, becoming a whole bare arm.

It is the weirdest sight, to see them wrestle, not knowing what's really happening. Then, the man speaks, in an aggressive tone. "This is what my actions have caused?" The things you made me do, they were for this mass destruction?!" He snarls when he gets an answer; "Yes, of course, we talked about fighting, what else did you think would happen?"

Aro's voice sounds choked, because he's not getting enough air. "I didn't want my gift to be a negative anymore and now look!" the man hisses. "You're going to pay!" I'll take from you what you hold dearest!" He gets a look of concentration on his face, his lips in a hard line. He growls as Aro once again resists. No one comes to help and I don't understand why.

Three gasps come from our side, from our mind-readers and our seer. Many look at them, but they say nothing, somehow afraid of breaking some sort of spell. Everyone on the field stands still to watch this play out. Seconds become minutes and slowly the king stops struggling, becoming slacker and slacker in the man's hold. Until someone shouts "Stop!" from the west side of the field.

Four individuals come our way, two female vampires and a boy and girl who I think are hybrids. The two women look exactly alike and must be twins. The hybrids have similarities too. The man looks surprised and releases Aro when one of the vampires says his name: "Argus …" Next things happen very fast, as the Cullens spring into action. Edward calls out: "Jasper, quick, subdue Aro!"

The rest of them form a circle around the king who now sinks to his knees, staring around confused. Garret voices what many must be wanting to ask: "Will somebody tell us, what the hell is going on?!" Now, please!" Edward stands straight and replies: "Argus can erase memories through touch and he just took away a big portion of Aro's."

He turns to one in question to comment: "You're very powerful, to overtake his gift of seeing every memory." Argus seems unused to receiving a compliment of sorts and takes a moment to respond. "Yeah …, well, I guess, being very mad helped …" We wonder next, what the plan is. I feel the four new arrivals have a part to play in it though.

x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Well, did I surprise you? Did you like the new allies? How do the last four know Argus? Will they have powers?

What did you think of Aro's punishment? How much of his memory and the memories he collected from others did you think he has lost? Hmm …

Oh, by the way, he's going to get more … worse … And death is not the worst, if you get my drift.

Note:

With Eleazar and Carmen: 'Mi amor' means 'My love'. 'Te quiero, te amo' means 'I love you (a lot)'. 'Bastardo' of course means 'Bastard'

This was the last group-point-of-view-chapter, from here on out it'll be one person at a time again. Well, the epilogue might get to be two or three POV's.
