Chapter Two: Moving in as "family"
Silence settled within the room as Kanda and Yuki stared at each other. Allen and Akio looked between their "parents" while Komui got a bit further away from Kanda. The silence went on for a bit longer before Yuki put the twins down on the ground.
"Daddy!" Akio exclaimed happily as he ran toward Kanda, arms wide opened.
Allen went behind Yuki's legs and peeked out from behind them. Yuki patted his head as she glared at Kanda while Akio hugged his "father".
"Well, if this isn't a nice family reunion-" Komui said before being cut off.
"You're also on my kill list, Komui." Yuki said as she glared at him as well.
Komui quickly shut his mouth and went back to working on the baby crib. Akio and Allen giggled when seeing this.
"Uncle Komui in trouble~!" Akio said with a laugh.
"He's not your uncle," Kanda said.
"But that's what Uncle Komui told us to call him." Akio said, looking up at Kanda. "And Mommy didn't have a problem with us calling him that."
"Does it look like I care what your "mother" thinks?" Kanda asked, looking at the boy.
Akio's eyes widen while tears came into his eyes. Yuki glared harder at Kanda for that as Akio ran back to her, sniffling.
"Now, now, Kanda, remember what I told you?" Komui said. "You're these two lovely boys' father now. You need to treat them as such, understand?"
Kanda just clicked his tongue in annoyance before crossing his arms and looked the other way.
"But why do I have to be partnered with her?" Kanda asked, looking at Yuki.
"It's because the boys called her mother, Kanda." Komui said, "Do you really want to explain to two toddlers on how you're not with their mother if you were with someone else?"
Kanda clicked his tongue once more as Yuki continued to glare at him, holding Akio within her arms. Akio buried his face into her shoulder while crying. Allen hid more behind Yuki, holding onto her pant leg tightly.
"Besides, Yuki doesn't seem to have much of a problem with it. Right, Yuki?" Komui asked as he looked toward Yuki.
"...Komui," Yuki said.
"Yes?" Komui said.
"Can you do me a tiny favor?" Yuki asked sweetly, giving the man a smile.
Komui immediately paled when seeing it before nodding his head. "S-s-sure, what is it?"
"Can you take the boys out of the room for a minute? I need to have a talk with their "father"." Yuki said, her smile becoming more evil.
Kanda also paled when seeing the smile. Komui said nothing out of fear as he went over to Yuki and took Akio from her.
"Where are we going?" Allen asked as he went to Komui.
"We're going to take a nice little stroll around the Headquarters, Allen." Komui said as he took the little boy's hand.
"Isn't Mommy and Daddy coming?" Allen asked, looking up at Komui.
"Not this time," Komui said. "Your mother needs to have a few words with your father."
"He's in trouble, isn't he?" Allen asked as Komui lead them out of the room and down the hall.
"More than you know," Komui said, paling more.
"Poor Daddy," Allen said as he looked ahead. "Mommy's going to make him bleed."
"I have no doubt about that, Allen." Komui said, feeling sorry for the soon-to-be-dead swordsman.
