Just moved... again. No WiFi so I'm just now getting a chance to update. I'M SORRY YOU GUYS!
The hobbits walk to their own little bedding. Each of them finally falls asleep but sleep seems to have abandoned me. I bring my knees to my chest and rock back and forth, back and forth. The stars also seem to have forsaken us. I shiver in the cold of the night. I'm not the only one awake though; Aragorn is keeping watch. I make my way towards him.
"Hello," I say sitting down next to him.
"Lady Hermione," He replies. "Why do you not sleep?"
"I can't," I reply. "I feel like something terrible is about to occur."
He's quiet for a moment.
"You will feel that way often I'm afraid," he says.
I run a shaky hand through my hair as we sit in silence.
"I know." I finally reply. "You can sleep Aragorn. I'll keep watch. I'm not tired anyways."
"That's alright Lady Hermione. It will be a pleasure to speak to someone while I watch over the drearyness of this night." I smile at him.
"I'm not particularly talkative," I say and he smiles back softly.
"Neither am I."
From that point on, we are entirely silent. I lay down in the soft grass and watch the starless sky overhead. Fathomless, inky black, stretching on forever. A void above us. I laugh inwardly at that, remembering when we first fell through the void.
"What are you thinking?" It is not Aragorn's voice that meets my ears.
"Harry." I don't sit up, but he comes to lay down beside me. "Look at the sky," I say. I don't have to look over to know that he's complying. "What does it remind you of?"
"The void," he replies. His voice is laced with amusment and regret.
"You miss Ginny," I say. It's not a question.
"More than anything."
"I'll try to figure out a way for us to get home Harry. Really, I will."
"I know."
We both fall silent.
"I'm supposed to be sleeping," Harry admits. "It's Legolas' watch, but I wanted to talk to my best friend."
"Go to sleep," I tell him. The silence between us is begining to feel awkward.
"Goodnight Hermione."
"Goodnight Harry."
Harry heads back to his bedding and moments later, Legolas is at my side.
"Legolas," I say.
"Lady Hermione."
"Thank you again for the necklace..." I sit up and turn, my eyes meeting his bright blue ones. His lips pull upward just a little.
"You are welcome," he replies. "And you are also cold." I blink twice at his perception.
"Very," I admit truthfully. "I didn't remember to bring anything warm with me when we left... I wasn't expecting it to be this cold." I shake my head at myself.
"Be more prepared next time Lady Hermione," he says covering my shoulders with his blanket. I open my mouth to say something, but no words come out.
Finally I push out a simple thank you. He only nods in aknowledgment.
"Also, though," I say quietly, "I'd like to thank you for saving me from the birds..."
"There is no need. I would have done the same for any of the other members of this Fellowship in need."
"I know, but I still want to thank you."
"Then you are welcome," he replies. I smile softly and turn away to look back at the sky. I toy with my hair pressing my lips together as my eyes begin, finally to droop. I close my eyes and dissapear into the darkness of sleep.
Yay! Chapter finished! I'll try to update ASAP though. Seriously, I feel really bad for not getting to you guys sooner but this has been my year of unfortunate events. We've settled down in a house thought... Finally! So yay!R&R! Love you all!
