Hi everyone. I had a bit of a case of writer's block, and I have to balance this with school drama, (not the class...) family drama, and a bunch of other drama... didn't help much. Wednesday, my hair started smoking. It was really weird... and nobody said anything for the longest time. I didn't even realize that people were staring at my head until my best friend mentioned that my head was smoking. Then I noticed the gawking people... I'm not hurt or anything. There was no burning involved, I just started to steam... So yeah... Anyways, I'm going to just stop now before I make the beginning author's note longer than the chapter. Anyways, here you go. Hope you enjoy it!

When Legolas awakens, we begin our endless walk through the darkness again. Still silent, still carefull. Every now and again Legolas' piercing blue eyes will glance back at me, making sure I'm alright. Each time he looks back at me, I nod at him, confirming that I'm not in any sort of anguish.

A sound pierces through the air, echoing.

"Pippin," I mumble softly. "Oh no." I start to run, as I hear the sound of drums, the running feet, the resounding horns.

"Goblins!" Legolas exclaims, running as well.

"We have to find them!" I shout. Then our feet join in the pounding rhythm. We follow the sound of pounding feet. I seem to fly over the ground.

We come to a door, wedged shut.

"Aragorn, Boromir! It's Legolas and Hermione! Let us in!" I shout pounding on the door. It swings open slowly.

"Come in, Hurry!" Legolas and I scramble into the room. Boromir and Aragorn heave the door and wedge it shut once more.

I scan the room, trying to catch sight of Harry. It doesn't take long to meet his emerald-green eyes.

"Harry!" I exclaim.

"You're alright!"

"Of course I am," I reply. Then there is pounding on the door.

"They have a cave troll," I say, loud enough for everyone to hear. Then I turn to Frodo and quiet my voice. Just enough for him to hear. "Frodo, be careful."

He nods. The goblins break through the door, but this time, they don't run through me. Every spell I send meets its mark, but there are so many of them, and curses don't seem to work against trolls.

I hear Harry curse under his breath as he just dives out of the way of the cave troll's club.

Sam is hitting goblins with his frying pan, sending them flying, knocking them out cold.

"There aren't enough of us for this!" I shout. "We have to escape!" But then I see that the troll has Frodo cornered. Despite all my efforts... The troll shoves his spear into Frodo and there's the blood. Gruesome, and scary. Who will bear the ring in his stead?

"Mr. Frodo!" Sam shouts. Tears fill my eyes. Every last one of us focuses our efforts on the cave troll, avoiding the goblins as we fight to avenge the ring bearer, and for some of us, fighting to avenge a friend.

The troll lurches forwards, then begins to fall like a mighty tree felled at last. When he lands, we all run to Frodo's side.

I check for breath, for a pulse, for anything. But there is nothing. Not the faintest sense of breath. Sam weeps openly.

"Who will bear the ring?" Gandalf puzzles. I cast a sheild, no goblins get to us. We all sit silently, mourning a death, debating who should now carry the burden.

"I will take it," I say softly. Harry bristles and Legolas gives me a look.

"No!" Boromir snaps. "You are a girl-"

"And that makes me unfit to carry a burden?" I ask. "I am a girl," I agree. "But I can shoulder any burden. As it is, I have two wars going on in my life." I look Boromir in the eyes, and reluctantly, delve into his mind and share with him my memories. Horcrux hunting, Belatrix Lestrange cuting the word mudblood into my arm, every private war memory I have from my home. I pull away to find Boromir looking at me with shock and... respect.

"I will bear the ring," I say again. With those words, Gandalf slips the chain from Frodo's head, and puts it around my neck.

"We have a new ring bearer," Gandalf says softly. I lower the sheild, and we all begin to run.

Chapter over. This chapter is rather sad if I do say so myself. Anyhow, R&R. Love you all.
