Miley was silent as they moved back through the train station. Lucius had released her as soon as they had passed through the barrier and Miley walked at his side quietly as they headed for the doors to leave. She was trying to look strong but felt that at any moment, the tears would come again. Miley did not realize up until the point when Lucius hissed at her, that she looked heartbroken and mistreated. Miley almost retorted that she was mistreated and heartbroken but then Lucius continued. "Straighten up and hold your head high." He ordered. Instantly Miley obeyed. "You are a Malfoy now and I will not have you make a mockery of my family." Lucius always walked with his back straight and head high. The beautiful cane in his hand but never used for support. Always a noble air to him. Draco did the same. Miley was not quite sure of any of the background on the family name but she made a mental note to look into it. It was odd for someone to instruct her on how to walk and hold herself but Miley did not question him on it. He had a sneer on his lips and Miley had learned not to push him at times like this. Especially when the reason for the sneer was her. Miley had embarrassed him and it was better to fly under his radar.
Once they had returned to the manor, Miley hurried to get away from Lucius. The Manor was large. There were many rooms that interested her. Lucius had a large library and study that Miley was drawn to. The book shelves were tall and full of books. There was a large and open backyard with sprawling green grass. Then there were the animals. Miley loved early mornings when she could sit on the grass with a cup of coffee and feed the wandering peacocks. The horses were beautiful as well. Miley headed for the kitchen first to see if she could make a late lunch but she was faced with the house elf instead. He insisted on trying to give her a tea and make her lunch instead. The elf became obviously nervous with Miley's offer to help and he politely tried to refuse. Miley did not push the matter and instead headed for the library.
As normal, once Miley had her book, she settled into one of the high back chairs with her legs tucked under her. She lost herself in the story and before she knew it, hours had passed. The house elf had found her with the lunch he had insisted on making himself. When Miley looked up again, it was dark outside the windows. Miley stood up slowly and stretched before returning the book to her shelf. She brought the dishes to the kitchen and placed them in the sink. Miley silently began moving through the house. She was half looking for Lucius. The manor was big and lonely.
At first Miley nearly missed the man. The soft female voice was what had made Miley look in a open doorway. Lucius sat in a room Miley had never seen before The door had always been locked. The only furniture in this room was a brown leather like couch facing a glass encased beautiful white wedding dress. There were many pictures on the walls of Narcissa. Miley knew her the woman was from Draco and the pictures in Lucius' bedroom. "She's beautiful." Miley said softly as she gingerly entered the room. Miley saw Lucius jump slightly at her voice and he sniffed indicating he had been crying. It occurred to Miley to chastise him for doing thing he had told her off for in the train station but she pushed the urge away. She looked over the moving pictures with wonder Narcissa looked back at her with a mixture of anger, pity and sorrow for her husband. Miley forgot about Lucius for a minute. She was focused on Narcissa. The wizarding world was so strange. Things like moving photos were not something you just accepted. Narcissa pointed Lucius but did not speak. She was indicating for Miley to go to him but Miley was afraid.
Slowly she stepped around the couch. Miley took a deep breath and then sat softly beside her new husband. She glanced at him for a moment. Both of Lucius' hands gripped the head of his cane tightly. His normally pale face had red blotches on his cheeks and he sniffed again. Miley frowned. She felt for him. This was the first time he had shown such emotion. Miley licked her lips nervously. Slowly she raised the hand closest to him. Miley hesitated. His order of her not touching him came to mind. She couldn't just leave Lucius like this though. Ready to jerk her hand away at the slightest notice, Miley gently placed her hand on top of his. She watched Lucius glance down but he did nor said anything.
Encouraged by this, Miley took another risk. "Lucius," she said softly and then paused for a moment before continuing on. "I know you miss her... I'm...I'm sorry she died. I'm sorry you're hurting. I don't know what to do to help." Her grip on his hands had tightened a bit and her thumb smoother over the back of his fingers. "Talk to me Lucius." She whispered. Miley did not expect him to speak and when he did, she bit her lower lip and listened. "Talk about what?" Lucius asked, his voice as gentle as she had ever heard it. Miley shook her head and he slowly turned his head to look at her. "I had everything." Lucius said. "A wife and son. Both perfect. I had my wealth and health. Now what do I have? She was ripped away from me." "He blinked away the prickle of fresh tears in his eyes. "You have me..." Miley replied gently and sure she held no comparison in his eyes to Narcissa. "You have Draco and now a daughter as well." Lucius scoffed. "You are here because you have to be. I never wanted to marry you... a Malfoy marry a muggle..." Miley blinked. His words hurt deeply. Now she pulled away taking her hand back. "I'm sorry." She whispered. Miley did not know what she was apologizing for. He had done this to her. Miley had been fine on her own.
Standing now, Miley turned to leave him to his pain. Clearly she was a disgust to him. Lucius was quick. His cane was placed down to rest against the couch and one arm snaked around her waist. She gave a cry of sudden fear and surprise as Lucius' other arm joined the first and he quickly pulled her backwards and between his now open legs. He pressed her against him and his head came to rest upon her lower back. Miley stood there with her heart pounding in her chest and afraid to even breathe. She had no idea what to do or what was happening. He wasn't speaking and of course she could not see him and his grip was tight. Lucius' words still stung but she was realizing that Lucius did need her. Miley did not move at first and then after a few minutes she shifted. "Lucius..." She whispered as she tried to turn around. His grip loosened enough for he to move against him. Now facing the man, Miley looked down at him. His cheek was against her stomach and his arms once more. Slowly Miley brought her hands up. This tender moment was something Miley would never have expected. Part of her was frightened of the way he was acting. Another part liked being held like this. One hand moved to rub his back gently, again afraid this moment would shatter like glass. Her other hand ran through his long hair soothingly.
Miley liked how soft his hair was. It was something she focused on as he hovered over her in bed. The way it caressed her skin as it fell down and onto her. The thought of it brought a small moan from her and under her hands she felt Lucius stiffen. Miley swallowed hard expecting pain. Lucius however had something else in mind. He wanted his wife or no one but being in this position reminded him of how good it felt to hold a woman again. The softness of her body and the scent of soap on her skin. Her moan however made him aware of another scent coming from her however. He was depressed, hurting and beside himself. He needed physical contact. No matter who it was from right now. "Do that again." He told her. "Do what again?" Miley asked and her body trembled slightly against him. "That sound." Lucius clarified. All of this did not mean that his feelings for her had changed. Only that his body was telling him what would help sooth his pain.
Miley shook her head once more. "I don't..." That's as far as she got before Lucius suddenly pushed her way roughly. Miley stumbled back against the glass display. Her face had paled and she gasped. Lucius was on his feet in a second and he cornered her with his threatening and over bearing presence. Miley was terrified. "Why can't you just make me happy?" He barked at her. Miley cowered. She could hardly find her breath let alone speak. "I give you everything you need! You can't even follow simple directions, you bloody cow!" Miley felt her anger growing all this time she had been holding back her options. Now though, everything seemed to be building up and soon it was going to overflow. Lucius turned away from her quickly and stormed off out of the room. Miley was not done yet. She hurried at him and when Lucius entered the dinning room, Miley had caught up. Without even thinking, she grabbed his upper arm and pulled him back towards her. Furious Lucius turned on Miley but Miley was already speaking, her voice angrier than he would have ever heard. Miley was practically yelling.
"How can I make you happy?" She spat up at him. Miley could see his anger flaring in his eyes. "How can I do anything for you? You treat me like I'm a burden. You push me away and yell at me all the time! You asked me to marry you not the other way around! You brought me here!" Miley stomped her foot like a three year old having a temper tantrum and Lucius look down at the sound. "I am your wife!" Miley screamed. That was the breaking point for Lucius. Miley saw it in his face before all Hell broke loose. "My wife?" He growled in a way that chilled her blood. He turned towards the dinning room table suddenly and taking the side of the table in both hands, he grunted as he then flipped the table right over. It only took a split second and everything on top of the table smashed to the wooden floor with a tremendous chorus of shattering glass and china. Fragments of dishes, candles, and the sets of cutlery scattered across the room. Miley was frozen in place and her mouth had fallen open. Lucius was not done. "Yes!" He spat at her. "You are my wife. My wife! And you will behave as wife should! You will obey me and give me the respect I deserve!"
He had started to advance on her and now Miley tried to back away. Before Miley could think of what to do, she was pressed up against the wall and locked in place by his arm on either side of Miley as she stood before him. Miley could not see around him. Miley slowly looked up at the blond clearly frightened. "Do you understand?" He growled at her now his face so close to hers that Miley could feel his warm breath on her skin. Miley nodded immediately. There was absolutely no hesitation. He left her then and Miley did not follow. Her legs had turned to jelly and she slowly sank down to the floor and cried.
