"Why can't you stay Momma?" Miyla asks one day. This was the day that Dorothy arrived in Oz.
"Oh, my darling, I won't be gone for long. I promise. Besides, you love the guards and monkeys, don't you?"
"I guess," she looks down at her feet sadly. "I just wish you could stay with me."
"Miyla, I'm not leaving forever. I'll be back before you know it."
"Okay. But promise you'll be back really soon?"
I bend down to her level and smile. "I promise. Only if you promise to be good!"
Miyla giggles. "Okay, I will! I promise!"
I hug her and stand up with her in my arms. She wraps her legs around me like a monkey.
"I love you my little monkey."
"I love you too Momma."
"Sorry to interrupt, Queen Zelena," one of my guards came up to us. "But it's time to go."
I take one last look at my Miyla. My beautiful little Miyla. The only person who knows the true me. I can tell that she is holding back tears, as am I.
"I'll miss you Momma."
"I'll miss you too baby girl."
As I walk away, I can see her start to cry. I want to turn back so bad. I want to hold her in my arms and assure her everything will be okay. I want to tell her how much I love her. But I can't do that. This person had killed my sister, Miyla's aunt.
My sister cared about Miyla more than anything else in the world. I had to avenge her.
