Chapter 9 To Understand What You Are

When Naruto awoke his body felt like it was on fire it took every bit of strength he had just to turn his head when he finally did he saw five kits sitting down in front of him, There eye's red and filled with murderous intent The leader of the group looked at Naruto and simply said one thing to him. "We Need to talk."

'Umm Kyuubi are you there why are they all looking at me like that?' Naruto asked unable to hide the fear in his voice.

Kyuubi sighed sometimes her kits were so dumb it surprised even her. 'Naruto tell them that I'm going to explain everything to them through you and when I'm done I'll answer their questions, Oh and tell them the first person to talk while I'm explaining will have a little fun time with the abyss I'm tired of explaining this to everyone.' kyuubi said seeming to get a lot of joy from one word.

"Umm kyuubi says that she will explain everything so don't talk unless you want to have fun with the abyss." Naruto repeated what the Kyuubi said watching as all the kits eyes went from crimson red to their respective colors they all seemed less tense to.

'Kyuubi what do I say now there just staring at me.'

'Hmmm oh right umm okay Naruto you need to tell them what I've made you and then tell them why though I'm sure they will react poorly to it do it none the less.' Naruto simply nodded and repeated everything she had told him about begin a deviant and why she had made him one.

the four kits had very different expressions on their faces when Naruto finished talking it didn't help that Kyuubi had gotten quite all of a sudden either, The girl of the group seemed lost as if what was said couldn't be possible the two twin brothers had similar looks on their faces but more out of confusion than anything else the boy with ash colored hair he seemed more calm than all the others yet disturbed at the same time, While their leader had to be the worst his face took on one of pure rage and anger and if it weren't for Naruto's body feeling like a giant boulder had came crashing into it with one hundred explosive tags attached he would have bolted the moment he was done talking.

The leader of the group stood up and left Naruto wasn't to sure where he was going or what he should do but seeing the man before him turn into a giant white fox and disappear from sight he was sure he wouldn't want to find out, Though he had a feeling he was going to one way or another, The two twins looked at each other before one of them the one he assumed was Jack raised his hand Naruto figured he wanted to ask Kyuubi a question so he nodded toward him and the boy looked at his brother before looking back at Naruto to ask his question.

"Umm Mistress I thought deviants were superstition to you know scare demons while they slept no way this kid could be one umm no offense human." Naruto shrugged and wondered if Kyuubi was even listening she didn't seem to respond back.

'Hello earth to Kyuubi did you hear that.' Naruto said taunting her into talking the way she had become quite it wasn't like her, Not that he knew anything about her but he was sure she would taught back at least especially when he was the one doing the taunting.

'Naruto tell Jack that it's no story and that despite what you look like now you are a Deviant.' Kyuubi seemed to rush the words out but Naruto spoke them anyways.

Jack having gotten his answer seemed to put both kits in a calmer mood however Naruto words somehow made the girl just as mad as their leader and just as their leader had done before her she to turned into a wolf and disappeared, Now Naruto was starting to get worried was being a deviant that bad that demons who swore to protect the most powerful demon would run away.

'Their not running away.' Kyuubi said suddenly her voice mere echos to the one she usually used.

'What' Naruto asked clearly confused.

'They are not running away they left so that they wouldn't kill you.' Kyuubi said this time a hint of sadness in her voice though she was trying very hard not to show it.

'But I didn't do anything to them so why would they kill me.' Naruto asked a bit angry that even demons would want to kill him for no reason.

'You exist that's reason enough.'

"OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD I"M ONLY EIGHT YEARS OLD WHY IS ME BEING ALIVE SO BAD FOR EVERYONE ELSE I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO ANYONE SO WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE ME!" Naruto yelled out loud though he meant for it to stay inside his head he was shocked at what his voice sounded like at the end of that sentence, It didn't sound human at all more like a roar of sorts but he didn't really care at the moment he was sick of it everybody had a secret and no one would tell him the truth, What was so bad about being a deviant sure he knew it couldn't be as good as Kyuubi made it out to be but for crying out loud if no one was going to tell him anything he might as well just jump off a cliff and save himself the trouble, Better yet just rip the damn seal off and let Kyuubi rip him apart from the inside out.

It was at that moment Shin stood up Naruto was about to yell something else when a loud crack could be heard throughout the house and he could have sworn he heard Kyuubi gasp for air but he paid it no attention, He figured she would just hide stuff from him better to learn the truth from someone who doesn't care how badly he would react and now the demon looking him in the eyes fit that bill perfectly.

"If you want to know I'll tell you what I've heard about Deviants." Shin said as he watched Fin drag Jack away towards the loud noise from earlier.

"Yeah tell me everything." Naruto could hear Kyuubi saying something about he wasn't ready but he just tuned her out.

Shin sat back down getting comfortable and Naruto painful though it was found the strength to sit up on the sofa he looked at Shin and waited bracing himself for whatever was so bad he'd have to live with it forever, Because no matter how bad the news would be he was a deviant and that wasn't changing.

"Well I'm sure the mistress knows way more about Deviants especially since they were all dead when I was born so what ever her reason is I'm sure she's not telling you everything for a good reason, However I can tell you what I've heard and researched about from their history." Naruto simply nodded he was a bit annoyed he wouldn't know the entire truth until Kyuubi told him but anything was better than nothing he nodded his head for Shin to continue.

"Well you know the part about them being human and demon and you know the part about them serving as guardians and champions but it seems my mistress has left out the really bad things about being a deviant while you per say were not involved, There was a time when the deviants revolted against their masters unlike we demons who are bound to are masters until they die deviants were not the same they were simply loyal and they could also make lower demons be bound to them, From what I understand they got to the point where they didn't understand why they had to serve their demon lords that they should have been the ones to dominate but there is also a saying that they were dangerous to demons that they were causing a change to the demons, What kind of change I don't know all I really know is there was a great war between the two and at the end of the war there were barely any of my kind left alive and the Deviants were no more, Our world was scarred for years and we demons had to leave our realm so it could repair it's self, But obviously after a war with humans who once put there trust in us we had to keep our human forms activated if we wanted to survive but some were too proud to take on their human Form for the sake of the demon race my kind killed their own to keep there secret safe eventually our world fixed it's self and we returned to our realm, We left humans alone for what seemed like forever some would return to the human world mostly children who didn't know any better or people out for revenge but others feared the humans and never left the realm." Shin stopped talking taking a glance at Naruto he seemed to be in deep thought but he was listening.

"I'm not to sure about the deviants myself but I do know the mistress was there and I do know that two of my friends lost a lot during that war." Shin finished waiting for Naruto's reaction.

"Okay so basically your kind hates deviants no matter what because of a war that happen before I or you for that matter were even a thought and now that I've become one you think I'll start another war like the one in your history simply because I'm a deviant now." Shin nodded to Naruto's answer but he didn't quite agree with it either.

Naruto laughed then he laughed some more he laughed so hard that he found himself on the floor next to Shin, Shins eyes turned crimson red and just as he was about to hit Naruto he heard him crying he stopped his eyes went back to their normal color, Why was this human crying was he not just laughing A second ago but now he was crying Shin didn't really care but he also found it strange why would a human cry.

"You know I'm not to sure if it's the whole boost in my intelligence thing Kyuubi was talking about or either I'm not as dumb as I think I am but this whole situation its funny and tragic, Your probably wondering why a human Deviant would laugh than cry I'm crying because it seems like I'll always be alone no matter where I go I'll always be hated I'll always be different, When I was a human my village they tried to kill me everyday since I was left alone all by myself for four years I went though the same thing over and over endless torture A living nightmare but then I met Kyuubi at first she was annoying but then she offered me a deal a way out of my living nightmare, To be able to live my life the way I wanted to so what do you say to someone who offers you a new life yes, Of course I accepted I didn't care if I was half demon half human hell I didn't care if I had become a demon entirely so long as it meant not returning to that nightmare I was fine with it but now its seems I've just traded my old life for the same one, Only difference being I'll be able to fight back if some try's to hurt me once I'm able to move around so sorry if I laughed, It's not funny what happened to your people or your friends and I'm not laughing at that but I wasn't there I didn't do any of that and I'm not going to do any of that I just want to live a life without everyone out to get me when I haven't even done anything wrong especially when I can't even defend myself. Naruto probably sounded like a whining child he was sure his voice cracked a little while he tried to get that out but he didn't care he needed to let it out and he did, He cried he sobbed until it got to the point where even he didn't know why he was crying anymore eventually he fell asleep and not even Kyuubi dared to wake him.

It was quite inside the house Shin looked at the sleeping boy in front of him sighing he picked Naruto up carefully and placed him back on the sofa it was a little hard they both were technically the same size if it weren't for his demon strength Shin was sure they both would fall, Once Naruto was on the sofa Shin just stared at him something about Naruto just made him feel like he was wrong Shin sighed as another loud crack sound boomed throughout the house Naruto didn't even move from the loud noise.

"You Guys Hear all that." Shin asked as Jack, Fin, Lela and Fu appeared from out of a doorway the two kits who had left in a blind fury seemed more clam then before and while their eyes were red probably from tears they both seemed to hold no hostile intent toward Naruto.

"I've never heard a human speak like that before." Fu simply said staring at Naruto.

"Yeah gotta admit this one is very different though technically it is a deviant." Lela said a hint of anger still in her voice but it seemed to be directed at no one in particular.

"So what now Fu I mean the mistress is still inside of him and now thanks to their deal only the deviant can release her and I doubt we can force it to do so and we still don't know where the other half of her chakra is." Shin said though the hmph he got from Lela suggested she wouldn't mind trying to make Naruto release Kyuubi.

"No I don't believe we can and even if we did I'm sure the mistress would not allow it, However I don't want to help it either but knowing our mistress I may not have a choice and judging by the way Shin is looking at it I can already tell your bound to it." Fu said Lela giving off a low growl Shin simply looked down at the ground.

"Sorry guys but I-I want to protect him I wanna help he-he Isn't to blame for what happened I understand if you all never bond with him but I don't know I just want to help him and our mistress whatever the cost." Shin finished as a blue light surrounded him then a small aura of blue chakra surrounded Naruto Shin got on one knee as a knight would before his king.

"I swear on my life and soul I shall serve you as I serve my mistress until the day you release me from said bond an should I ever betray you of my own intent let my soul forever be trapped denied the pleasure of leaving this world let it forever be a reminder to those who would dare break their bond, I swear to you deviant no matter what happens to you to the world I shall forever be there to help you in any way I can." As shin finished he transformed into his fox form the blue aura around him went towards Naruto and was sucked inside of his body right where his seal was as the aura disappeared Shin changed back to human form and walked toward the kitchen it had been hours since he had eaten and he was starving.

The four kits looked at Shin before looking back at Naruto they all knew that they were going to be stuck with Naruto no matter what but none of them were going to do what their fellow kit had done, They each stood there staring at Naruto each one with their own ideas about him eventually they all left to help out in the kitchen Shin couldn't cook to save his life the only one who stayed behind was Fu he stared at Naruto his hand locked around the golden neckless he wore.

"I don't know why you did it mistress but this is wrong and you know it I'll follow the deviant I'll even help him out but I will not be bound to it no matter what you say this I swear. with that Fu left the house entirely he had things to prepare training a deviant was not going to be easy better he got the rage out now then later.

Inside Naruto's mind Kyuubi sat beside Naruto humming a soft melody to him as he slept it was soft and sweet and it held a lot of memory's for her she had heard Fu speaking to her she was happy that he would help Naruto and she knew her kits would not accept Naruto, But she had hope especially since Shin bound himself to Naruto with out Naruto having to fight him though she was sure the other one's were going to be harder to convince still they had plenty of time for that.

She continued to hum to Naruto until she herself eventually fell asleep.

One Year Later

A year had passed since Shin had bound himself to Naruto and already the boy had become much stronger he hadn't changed much in appearance he kept his hair cut and spiky he even kept its original color even though Jack had done something to his hair while he was in the shower one day took him three months to finally get the color back to normal, He also changed out of the rags he use to wear for clothing now he wore a black hoodie and an orange t-shirt under it, Something about his body always feeling cold or something the hoodie had an orange symbol on the back it looked like an A only it curved at the bottom and it didn't have a line between it was very unique (looks like assassins creed symbol) apparently Naruto found it when he and Jack went shopping at a nearby village, After their training session his also wore some blue shorts much like his old ones only at the very edge of them were two black fox's fighting each other.

The kits had all warmed up to Naruto the exception being Fu and Lela while Fu was strict with his training he usually didn't talk to Naruto unless he had to while Lela seemed to have more of a crush on him though, It was hard to tell with her more like she didn't know how to like him so she hurt him to make up for it or avoided him out right.

Whatever their reasons the only ones who seemed to warm up to Naruto was Jack and Fin Jack was not bound to him nor Fin but both the brothers seemed to have befriend him and when ever the trio went to train they always came back laughing making Fu wonder if they even trained at all, Naruto for better or worst though seemed truly happy even though he was bone tried all the time and even though he tried his hardest to impress Fu with his progress in training, He was always smiling except for when he was in pain and even then sometimes you'd catch him smiling being a deviant didn't bother him anymore then it bothered Shin, Shin had become something of a best friend to Naruto almost like a brother they had there moments when they would argue over his study's, Naruto saying something about Kyuubi going over it with him and that he shouldn't waste his time but other than that they usually had a blast.

"Hey Shin Keep up Will Ya!" Naruto yelled From Atop a tree waving his hand toward the kit Jack and Fin behind him doing the same Shin left his train of thought and rushed toward them catching up quickly, They each landed inside a clearing a small lake near by but other than that there was nothing but trees and silence each one smiled at each other this was their favorite place to train no one ever came around here.

"Okay So What Shall be the rules Today guys" Naruto asked stretching while looking at his three friends do the same.

"How about First one to bleed loses." Fin suggested the boys simply sighed.

"Brother you always pick that one how about first one to catch 8 firefly's wins." Jack suggested causing the latter to smack their heads with their hands.

"It's not night-time Jack that would take forever, How about first ones to get thrown into the lake or get hit by water from the lake loses and no taking all the water away from the lake and using it as a weapon that's cheating." Naruto suggested each of the kits agreeing.

"Okay so who's turn is it to decide the punishment today?" Shin asked

"I think it's Jacks turn I chose yesterday." Jack smiled evilly and his brother simply wanted to run away of all the people it had to be his turn.

"Okay how about this who ever loses first Has to kiss Lela at dinner time and you have to kiss her on the lips." Jack smiled at the dumb founded looks his friends had

"WHAT!" They all yelled in unison.

"Oh come on I've been waiting all day to do that one, However knowing Naruto he might just lose on purpose." Jack laughed and his brother and Shin joined in as well A little incident that happened months ago caused Naruto to stop training for two weeks straight, Naruto having remembered why it happened and what he saw made him blush red before he got angry.

"Fine And what does the winner get." Naruto asked ready to kick Jack ass for that little comment.

"Hmmmm oh I know Naruto if you win I'll teach you a new move Fu taught me and if the rest of you guys win hmmm I'll make Cookies I'll even make some for you Naruto." All three boys eyes grew wide at the mention of cookies even Naruto had to admit that was worth the punishment, Jacks cookies Had to be what heaven was like no one knew how he made them but god they were the best in the entire world even Kyuubi was chanting for Naruto to win that prize it was very rare for Jack to make cookies like once every blue moon so Naruto was defiantly gonna win that prize.

'Naruto mess this up and I'm canceling your training for a week.' Kyuubi told him as all three boys got into their respective fighting positions.

none of the kits had there weapons with them and Naruto didn't own a weapon yet other than the simple kunai he kept with him they each starred each other down waiting for the other to strike of course they all knew who would attack first, Jack was never one to be rest less and he charged forward after his brother his brother who had both his fist raised waited for his brother to attack Jack knowing his brother fighting style waited till he was in striking distance then he punched the ground in front of him.

"Demon Jutsu Shatter Wave." Jack called out as the ground he punch caused a bunch of rock to fly up in front of Fin he jumped back stomping on the ground as he did so "Demon Jutsu Wind Shatter." Fin called out clapping his hands together as a gust of wind pushed forward sending the rocks flying in multiple directions Jack dodged his brother attack then suddenly he had a feeling he should duck so he did, He had Just dodged Shins foot that came at a horizontal angle toward him Jack looked to his left and saw Naruto rush in he smiled using his momentum from his dodge from earlier he grabbed some of the earth from beneath him and tossed it into the sky. "ninja art Earth spike." Naruto and Shin watched as the small pieces of rock Jack threw up turned into spears and was sent down after them, They both dodged them easy enough until Jack and Fin punched both of them in the face sending them both flying toward the small lake.

Naruto Not about to lose held out his hand to Shin who grabbed hold and Naruto threw a kunai at a nearby tree this kunai had a piece of rope attached to it and as it hit the tree Naruto using the momentum from the punch they both received, Swung them away from the lake not a second to late as Fin Shot off another Wind shatter Jutsu toward them causing the small lake water to almost touch them both.

Naruto and Shin jumped off the tree Naruto jumped high into the air while Shin charged after the two brothers who had started to fight each other again, Shin crossed his hands in front of his body and his claws started to glow green "Demon Art Mag Ni Fury." Both Jack and Fin stopped fighting and dodged Shin's attacks he was moving so fast it felt like he was the wind itself, Shin was luring Jack toward the Lake while Fin had some how slipped away until he heard something come crashing down behind him.

"Got ya Deviant Art Fiends Grip."Naruto's Left hand Glowed Blue Fin tried to dodge but he was to late and as Naruto reached out and grabbed Fin by the collar of his shirt, Fins body could no longer move Naruto Rushed towards the lake with Fin in hand While Jack was still dodging Shin's attack seeing his brother in trouble and in a bit himself he lunged to his right Shin following behind him Naruto Saw Jack lead Shin towards them and he couldn't stop now, Balding up his right hand he prepared for anything.

Now all four of them were at the edge of the lake and none of them wanted to lose Naruto Threw Fin toward the lake he was sure his body wouldn't recover from his Jutsu in time Naruto then stopped his advance as Jack Jumped after his brother Naruto smiled as Shin stopped his advance to but now he couldn't move because of his Jutsu effect Naruto took his right hand and opened his palm aiming it at Jack and Fin. "Deviant Jutsu Wind Buster." A Giant gust of blue wind pushed both Jack and Fin full speed into the Lake however Naruto couldn't tell who hit it first since he had dropped down to one knee, Using Deviant Jutsu's used up a lot of Charka.

Shin had recovered and was laughing at the two brothers who were soaking wet until he got dragged along inside the lake by both brothers Naruto ended up laughing on the floor as the three of them came out of the lake in their demon forms soaking wet.

"Looks Like I win Alright!" Naruto yelled jumping high into the air while the three kits shook the water off their fur onto him laughing as they did so they then turned back into their human forms.

"So Jack Fin which one of you hit the water first" Naruto asked looking pissed off at the two of them.

"He did." they both said in unison and Naruto and Shin both burst out laughing.

"Well if you can't both agree why don't you both give her a kiss." Shin said Laughing as the two boys started arguing with each other.

"Oh fine I'll do it but no cookie for you brother." Jack said Fin was going to argue but he thought about it and simply gave up he could always get one from Naruto later.

"Alright Guy's we should head back it's getting late and Fu will probably have our heads if we don't get back in time."

Yeah Lets-." Fin was caught off by a bunch of leaves rustling around them all four of the boys got behind each other waiting for anything to happen, When suddenly a group of bandits came into the clearing all the boys calmed down then laughed at each other.

"And here I thought it was Fu sneaking up on us or something more important." Shin said the rest of the boys laughing.

"Well what have we hear a bunch of arrogant little brats who think there tough what do you say boys care to teach them a lesson." the leader of the bandits got a heart-felt cheer from his group who started to circle around the four of them.

Naruto yawned and the others just laughed they each got into their respective fighting stances Naruto was far from tired and he wouldn't need his Deviant powers to take out these weaklings.

Not to far away at the top of a tree a Girl with red hair and a small sand gourd on her back could smell blood in the air she covered her left eye as it reformed over the clearing where Naruto and the others were fighting she could hear the screams of the bandits from high atop her little look out an evil smile on her face as she watched the boy with blond hair kill the bandits one at a time the same smile reflected in his own.

Okay so A year has passed Naruto knows a bit more about the deviants and a surprise visitor what could happen next guess you wont know until I get to work on it but I thank you all for checking out this story, I'm also thinking I should go back and explain Naruto's training but I'm not to sure I need to let me know what you guys think and if a majority wants to know more about how Naruto trains I'll add it in the next chapter if not we shall move on and I'll explain it in certain parts.

Okay for people confused by the Jutsu I used In this chapter I will explain them again down here.

Demon Jutsu shatter wave: Is a Jutsu where the user punch's the ground which causes cause a giant wave of rock to go flying forward from the ground in front of the user.

Demon Jutsu Wind shatter: Is a Jutsu that 's like the hulks hand clap it causes the wind in front of the user to force what ever is in front of it to be pushed back.

Demon Art Mag Ni Fury: A Jutsu used by a demon to lock on to A enemy and go on an almost never-ending rampage this also makes the user move incredibly fast as if they were the wind its self making them seem invisible but once the jutsu ends the person can not move for three minutes.

Deviant Art Fiends Grip: is a move where the user's hand becomes a concentration of chakra and once that hand grabs some one it shuts down not only their body but the persons chakra network making them useless for as long as the person has them in their grip however it takes a lot of chakra to do and you must have more chakra then the person you are using it on.

Deviant Jutsu Wind Buster: is a Quick explosion of wind that sends the enemy flying in what ever direction the user's palm is open toward the wind is so powerful and fast it usually cannot be countered.
