As soon as they finished eating, they went back up their room to hang out for a bit. When they got to the room, Riley pointed out, "Wait, I thought we were going on an adventure today. Are we not?"
Shawn winked. "Oh, there will be adventure all right, just not right this second. I thought it would be fun if we played a board game."
Riley and Maya smiled. "Yay!"
Cory had brought monopoly with him, and Shawn was really happy that he did. The group started by picked out their monopoly pieces.
Maya picked the top hat, Riley picked the dog, Shawn picked the car, and Cory chose the ship. Maya playfully nudged Riley. "Of course you picked the dog, smiley Riley."
Riley laughed and nodded. After that, they started playing the game.
Shawn was the banker, so he passed the money out to everyone, along with their properties. Shawn was also the one going first, so he rolled the dice. He got a two, which put him on the community chest space. He picked up the card and read it. "Go directly to jail." Shawn looked up from the card and groaned. "Are you kidding me?! The first turn?!"
Cory laughed, which made Shawn shove him so hard that he fell over. Cory yelped, then quickly sat back up again. "It's not my fault, Shawn, blame the card!"
Shawn just sighed and moved his game piece to the jail space.
Next, it was Cory's turn. He rolled the dice and got eleven.
Riley giggled. Rolling an eleven when you were on the GO space put you on the jail space.
Cory noticed and bit his tongue to refrain from laughing. He was technically going to visit Shawn in jail.
Shawn looked down and laughed at the irony.
Next was Riley, who rolled a three. She landed on Whitechapel road, which she decided not to buy.
Now it was Maya's turn. She rolled a four, which meant she landed on income tax. "Seriously?! Shawn and I are not very lucky today."
Riley laughed, which made Maya shove her away, just like Shawn had done to Cory.
She was a little too rough though; rough to the point that Riley ended up hitting her head. Riley yelped in pain and moved away from her.
Maya immediately regretted what she did. "Riley! I'm sorry I didn't mean..." She trailed off. She could see the tears in Riley's eyes that her friend was trying to hold back.
Cory and Shawn looked at each other, afraid of what was going to happen next.
Maya mentally pinched herself for doing that to Riley. She then carefully got closer to Riley and asked, "Where does it hurt?"
Riley looked at her for a moment, then pointed to a spot on the top of her head.
Maya nodded once, then sat up on her knees and tenderly kissed the spot that Riley said hurt.
Riley looked up at her, a little surprised, but said nothing.
Maya then softly admitted, "I didn't mean for you to get hurt, Riles..."
Riley followed her lead by also getting up on her knees and facing her. Then, she hugged her, which made Maya do a double take.
"Why are you hugging me?" she asked, not at first realizing that that was a stupid question.
Riley giggled. "Because I forgive you, dork." The girls then let go of each other and returned to the boys.
Cory and Shawn had watched what had happened between them, and were relieved by the end result. The two old friends looked at each other, then hugged.
"Stop it, you're boys!" Riley immediately shouted.
"What? You guys get your moment but we don't?" Cory quipped back.
Maya laughed. "Go ahead, but we're still the best friends on this planet. Right, Riles?"
Riley grinned and nodded. "Ring power!"
