Chapter Thirty One- Clarity

Jason grabbed me from behind and though I fought hard to get him to release me, it got me nowhere. Before I knew it, the crowd that had poured around them was cheering out and encouraging what I was trying so desperately to stop. I kicked my feet at Jason in hopes to make him let me go but it was no use.

Cory came flying through everyone and Harley's lackeys were standing close by, smirking down at the scene that was unfolding before everyone. Harley had managed to get on top of Shawn and was relentlessly punching him in the face; his attempts at shielding himself failing drastically.

"Jason, let me go! Now!"

"No!"

Eric wasn't far behind Cory and they both launched themselves at the tangle of Kiener and Shawn. Eric grabbed Harley but got punched in the cross fire, causing him to stumble back for a second. And Cory was down at Shawn, trying to pull him free. It wasn't long before Joey and Frankie were in on it too, the pile of boys becoming even more and even bloodier.

"If you don't let me go now, I'm going to do something you'll hate me for." I growled out loudly as I fought free further. "LET ME GO!"

Cory managed to pull Shawn from the mess and get him to his feet. Harley was pulled to his feet not long after and they stood facing each other, both with bloodied and swollen faces. Jason let go of me and I was huffing and puffing with anger. The room went quiet and everyone was staring. Harley wiped his red stained mouth, looked at it and then chuckled. Shawn looked way worse than he did, considering his left eye was already bruising and puffy and his ear and mouth were bleeding as well.

"Let that be a lesson to all you chumps," Harley said pointing his finger to everyone around. "Harley Kiener is not someone to screw around with."

And at that, he turned hot on his heel and stormed out of the house, Joey and Frankie not hesitating whatsoever to follow. Shawn touched his eye, winced and then looked around like he was ashamed- but that quickly countered with anger. "What?! You saw what you wanted. Now move on people!"

Most people looked at each other, shrugged and went back to what they were doing, still looking over every so often but there were some who lingered around to see the final outcome.

"Shawn, are you-" Cory went to examine his best friends face but was shoved back a few steps, the glare Shawn had just had hardening.

"I was fine, Cory. You made me look like an idiot in front of everyone."

"I only wanted-"

"No! I don't care what you wanted." Shawn staggered for a second, the booze flowing through his veins clearly catching up to him finally. "You're supposed to support me. And protect me. Instead you humiliated me." Shawn then noticed me. "And you,"

I frowned but remained silent and waited for it.

"You." He staggered a bit and scoffed. "You've done nothing but cause trouble since the moment you got here. You play with everyone's feelings, and only care about yourself! I'm done with it! I'm done with you! I'm done with everyone!"

Shawn shoved his way through some people standing around and left everyone staring as he slammed the front door shut as hard as he could, the window vibrating violently, threatening to shatter at the impact. I looked between Jason, Eric and Cory before I took off after him. Jason looked lost and unsure of what to do, his hand slowly coming up and rubbing the back of his neck. Eric looked surprisingly calm and Cory looked utterly distraught.

Frowning, I moved forward to go after him when Cory grabbed my arm lightly. "There's no point, Sarah. He won't listen."

I hung my head for a minute and then looked back at him slowly. "I can't let him go. Not again." Pulling my arm from his grasp, I looked towards Jason and gave him a half hearted smile. He nodded and within seconds, I was out the door and outside in the pouring rain.

It was like I was trapped in the middle of some dumb romance movie and we were close to the climax. Count on the house I was guilted into going to being in the middle of nowhere though, with nothing but trees and more trees surrounding it. The rain was heavy and I could hardly see three feet in front of me. I was soaked the second I had stepped outside.

"Shawn!" I called out desperately.

No answer. Just the sound of the cold rain harshly covering everything. I looked around, walking further out. There was no sign of anyone. The only light was from the windows of the house which was becoming further and further away as I ventured out, hoping to find some sort of sign that Shawn was still around.

"Shawn, I'm sorry! Where are you? Please!" I called out loudly, using my hands to cup my mouth in hopes it would make my voice louder.

My head snapped to the side when I heard something that I knew didn't belong to the sky. And I knew it wasn't coming from the house. It was hard to make out what it was through the noise though. "Shawn?" I called out one last time.

Putting my hands now on my forehead, I squinted and tried to see through the darkness, wiping some of the moisture off of my face in the process. The sound became louder and I froze with fear when I realized what it was.

It was a set of head lights belonging to what looked like a large truck, heading straight for me. No matter if I tried to dodge it or not, I knew it was useless. It was way too close. I might as well have been one of those deer that got caught in such. I watched as the lights reached even closer and stiffened up, shutting my eyes tightly- ready for impact.

There was no way I was going to get out of this one.
