Battle Royale
Family
"Luffy!" Hearing two voices call the male out next to me had a warm feeling filling me especially when his face began beaming.
We had been literally under quarantine for a month; in case something on the island infected us. His burn was bad, but he got to move around and I still had to find myself resting back into the hospital bed. It mainly throbbed when I shifted too much and my wound over my eye was scabbing and I didn't need to wear a patch over it. Luffy thought it was funny and called me a pirate and everything. In a month though, I got to know him a lot better and we clarified our feelings whilst both being a hot mess. It was kind of funny to think about now since I passed out from already having a fever.
"Ace! Sabo!" The cheer left him as he ran around my bed to hug them both and they grasped tightly with their bags abandoned on the ground. Tears of joy began leaving them as they were blubbering out words and I shifted my gaze away as I felt awkward staring too long.
"Zoro." The stern voice had me snap my head back over and saw those yellow eyes piercing to me. It may had look like a cruel look to others, but that worry had me shift and got out of the bed. My feet stumbled as I fell into him with a grasp and held back tears.
"Mihawk!" I shouted up the name of my foster father as he held me tightly and shushed me with soothing words. Trembles had left me and suddenly I felt another arm around me.
"So glad to see you, Zoro!" The laugh had me peer to notice red hair shifting into view and I reached an arm out to wrap around his neck as tears formed.
"Shanks!" The two men held tightly as I felt everything catching up to me too fast and bit my tongue to hold it back.
"You guys too!" Shanks hollered out whilst pulling Luffy and his brothers over in a group hug. The brothers complained and Luffy smashed against me with a laugh as he enjoyed it all.
"You're funny!" My brunette spoke out to the laughing redhead who agreed with the other.
"Do you all live far from the town?" Mihawk inquired, accepting the embrace because the redhead would merely drag him back in. We were in a bigger city area at this nice hospital they had since our clinic couldn't handle the quarantine process, plus our injuries.
"Sort of, we live more along the outskirts and don't really have a car. We had to jump buses to get here." Ace, I assume from Luffy's description given, spoke with a look to my father. An arm was around my waist as Luffy rubbed his face against my collarbone.
"Very well, I'm getting the release papers, whoever is official guardian of Luffy will follow me. You all may stay at our home for now, it's in town and conveniently by a transit." Confused noises left the brothers and even from Shanks as I was a bit surprised. "It's best for the boys." Eyes went to us as Luffy was still attached and I was leaning into him protectively. "Release us all, Akagami, before I dismember you." This stiffening found Luffy and I merely chuckled to show it was for humor and the redhead whined out.
"No fair, Hawky!" Arms moved to wrap only Luffy and I in a hold as he rocked us. "This is fine!" The laugh left him as he snuggled us warmly and Luffy was shuddering with laughter. My father left with the blonde brother, Sabo I believe, and the other joined us again with a grin.
"My baby brother." The head pressed to Luffy as he held a slight smile with eyes closed. A head landed on top of mine as Shanks shuddered a laugh out whilst rubbing and I growled out.
"Stop that, you idiot." I barked out and only caused him to laugh out more before Luffy was joining and the two seemed to have begun bonding.
Nightmares still plagued us to the point that we both still sought the other out.
Like now.
A trembling body found me as I was in the hall shifting around to look in the dark area. My name was whispered out before we both moved to a table along the wall and pulled the cloth up so we both could crawl underneath. To hide away still clung to me as his body pressed to mine and wrapped legs and arms around me. My hand held his head and I made sure that we stayed in one place with the cloth covering us.
It was a while before I felt the cloth move and I merely tucked into the body in my hold. Our second night home and I couldn't help but feel out of my element. My instincts clung to the survival part and when I heard feet shifting, I knew they were all looking for us.
"It's alright both of you…" Mihawk cooed lightly to us and it made me cringe because the man was rarely gentle in his words, only because I was used to him being stern.
"I don't want to lose Zoro." Luffy whimpered out as I soon gripped his shirt with one hand.
"You two are safe."
"Please come out."
"I won't!" I spoke harshly out as I gripped hard and the arms tightened around my neck. "He's my only friend!" Trembles left me as I couldn't get Saga out of my head. "Don't take him from me, please!" The desperation had Luffy start to cry against me as I soon felt arms around me from a third party.
"You have us too." Shanks was holding us in the tight space with other hands finding me.
"Were not taking Luffy away." One of the brothers spoke out and this sniffle left the other.
"W-we wouldn't want…"
"Saga would be happy that you lived on and saved someone you hold close." The name made me stiffen before choking out a sob and a hand rubbed at my back. "You're going to make him cry too."
"Mihawk is that really…"
"I'm sorry, Saga…" I strained out before feeling arms move and Luffy was holding my face as he tried to pull it up to look at him.
"I won't leave Zoro… a-and Zoro can meet Chopper and Sanji and we can all be together and be friends…" This hurt was in his eyes as he looked to feel awful that I lost my only friends I had and he still had a few. "I w-won't leave Zoro alone."
"L-Luffy…" The male before me was tucked down and we were both pulled out suddenly to be held and I rubbed a hand into my face to stop the tears. My chest throbbed in pain from my sore muscles and aching heart.
"You both have family, too." A cry left Luffy as he rested against his brother and kept a grip on me. This hand was petting my head as I knew the action well from my father and tears kept flowing as I let out a pained sound.
I never want to be alone again.
