Chapter 9: Wolves.

I woke up to the sound of howling in the wood around me. I sat up on the destroyed couch remembering what had happened and I was over coming with hurt then with anger. I was busy sitting the feeling sorry for myself when I hear rustling in the bushes to my left. I slowly look to out of the window not moving from my position. I see the bushes but nothing else but then I see them… the yellow eyes of a wolf. I simply sit there staring at it trying to think of a way out of this situation that doesn't end with me being wolf chow.

I slowly got to my feet then I saw three other pairs of eyes appear next to the first pair. Okay so it's only four wolves it's not that bad. I slowly take a step away from the window. I had taken four steps when I stepped on a piece of glass. I heard it track under my foot I look down at the piece of glass and notice it's actually a picture with a woman and what looks like her little brother. I immediately recognize the woman as Katherine. I slowly take the picture out of the frame and put it in my pocket. When I look up the eyes are gone. Oh no I think just as the glass from a window in the kitchen crashes on to the floor. I slowly take a step towards the kitchen then I hear it the growing coming from my left. I duck just as the wolf leaps for my head. I don't even time to think of my next move when the wolf jumps on my knocking me to the ground under its weight. "Get off me." I yell throwing its against the wall over my head. The wolf's back hits the wall hard and the wall cracks when I jump to my feet. I look around for the wolf but I don't see it.

I hear growing coming from the living room so I run up stairs into one of the rooms and close the door behind me pushing on the dressers against the door. I take a step back debating whether I should go outside or stay in the room hoping for the best. I hear more crashing coming from downstairs. I can hear growling coming from all over the house. I mentally try and proper myself to be dinner for the wolves.

I heard a cracking of wood in the hall; the wood is old and makes a noise under the weight of the wolves. I run into the bathroom. I grab all the bottles and threw out the contents in the room. It hid my scent for a while at least.

I had just finished when I heard more noises coming from down stairs. I hear footsteps in the hall but they don't sound like the wolves footsteps. Shit I think as I jump into the cupboard just as the door swings open. I can hear the footsteps coming towards the cupboard I jump out of it and kick the person in the there ribs hard enough to break at least one or two of them.

"Lexi." The person said as I was about to make a run for it.

I freeze and slowly turn to the person on the floor.

"Who are you?" I asked taking a step towards the person on the floor with the hood.

"I'm a friend there is no time to explain." The man said getting up. I noticed that he had broad shoulders and was dressed in black the hood covered the top part of his face so couldn't see who it was the voice sounded very familiar.

"I'm not going anywhere with a complete stranger," I said crossing my arms over my chest.

"Look either you come with me or you stay here with the wolves and become dinner." The guy said sounding tired.

"I think I'll take my chance with the wolves." I said taking a step away from him.

"What? Don't be stupid."

"Pardon me?"

"You are being a stubborn child."

"Who the hell do you think…" I was cut off when I heard growling coming from the door. Before I had time to react the stranger shoved me out of the way just as the wolf jumped for my head. The stranger punched the wolf in the chest sending it flying against the wall he charge at the wolf with a knife in his hand which had appeared out of nowhere.

"No, don't kill it." I yelled throwing myself at the stranger.

"Get off of my you." He yelled throwing me off but it was too late the wolf had escaped.

"What the heck are you doing?" the stranger asked turning to face me with a very angry look on his face.

"You can't kill the wolves around here." I stated getting up and brushing myself off.

"I beg your pardon why not"

"Some of them are my friends."

"You are friends with a pack of dogs?" he asked disgusted.

"They didn't choose to be the way they are, they are cursed just like us." I said then I noticed the sun had started to come up.

"Well then you aren't going to like me much…"

"What did you do?" I asked turning back to him.

"One of them came at me it was self defense."

"Oh no." I said running down stairs.

When I got down stair I smelt the smell of death. I walk into the living room and froze. I was looking a young boy no older the 15. His lifeless eyes stared back at me. I walked over the boy and covered him with my jacket.

"Did you know him?" the guy asked.

"No I didn't but that doesn't matter he was a child."

"I didn't mean too."

"You are a liar; get out do away."

"Fine." The man said turning on his heal and walking to the front door.

"What a minute." I walk up to him.

"What?" he asked sounding annoyed.

"How did you get in here?"

"Well there is this new thing called a door you walk threw it to get into places."

"Wow no really; don't try and be a smart ass." I said.

"I just walked through the door." He said walking on the porch. I must have looked like a idiot staring at him with my mouth wide open.

"What?" he asked confused.

"There is a spell on the house that I can't leave; I thought it was for everyone." I explained.

"A spell? Who would put a spell on a house?"

"Someone who wanted to keep me inside the house and get eaten by the wolves."

"Wow you pissed someone off pretty bad didn't you?" he asked slowly removing his hood.

"Well no they are just…" I could get anymore words out.

"What?" he asked as I stared at him.

"You look a lot like someone I used to know that's all." I said.

"I know." He said taking a step towards me.

"What do you mean?" I asked taking a step forward to not knowing why. I walk right over the threshold and stopped right in front of him.

"How did I just know that?" I asked looking back at the house.

"Maybe the spell disappears when it becomes dawn."

"Maybe." I said turning back to him. "Who are you?"

"I'm Charles." H e said extending his hand.

"Hi." I said.

"You're Lexi right?"

"Yes I am how did you know?" I asked.

"Lee…"

"How did you know Lee?" I asked more confused than before.

"He was my brother."

Before I could respond I heard a growl behind me. I didn't have time to turn before the wolf jumped on my back. I could the wolf dig its claws into my back.

"Ow." I yell just as the wolf was pulled off of me.

"Are you okay?" Charles asked helping me up.

"Yes I'm fine, I can feel my back healing already; where is the wolf?"I asked looking around.

"It ran off when I pulled it off of you."

"Lexi!" I hear yelling coming from the forest behind us.

"I'm here!" I yell back.

Just then
Stefan and Damon came running out of the forest. Before I could do anything Stefan threw his arms around me hugging me very tightly.

"Okay I'm ok but won't be for much longer if you don't let me go now." I say and Stefan put me down.

"What happened?" Damon asked.

"Katherine and Percy." I said.

"What? Percy?"

"Yes Percy they are together or something." I explained.

"Eww" Damon said then looked at the man next to me as if he noticed him for the first time.

"Oh sorry this is Charles, he was Lee brother, and this is Stefan and his brother Damon." I said introducing them.

"It's nice to meet you." Stefan said offering his hand.

"How do you do?" Charles asked shaking his hand.

"I'm fine thanks, now will someone please explain why you two are covered in blood."

"Werewolves, they trapped me that house and hoped the wolves would have a nice snack." I said pointing to the house behind me.

"I'm going to kill that bitch." Damon said causing all three of us to stare at him.

"What she causes nothing but trouble." He said.

"Sorry Damon but get in line." I said.

"Let's get home." Stefan said.

"Are you coming?" I asked looking at Charles.

"If I am aloud to yes I would love too."

"You are very welcome." Stefan said.

"Well I feel better now." I said flopping down on the couch next to Charles.

"Nothing better than a shower." He agreed.

"You never told me why you were in the woods yesterday."

"I was hunting and was on my way back when I heard you and the wolves."

"How did you know I was me?" I asked drying my hair with a towel.

"Lee once showed me a picture of you."

"Ohh, why didn't you ever come visit us?"

"Went to England for a while." He explained.

"Ohh I understand." I said rubbing my back.

"Are you okay?" He asked noticing.

"Ya my back just hurts." I said.

"Let me see." I turn so he could see my back.

"Oh no."

"What? What is it?" I asked anxiously.

"Well... you were bit…"
