Chapter 16: The Game Begins…

"It's open."
"Hey Rebbekah." Lexi said as she walked into the room.
"Lexi what a wonderful surprise what can I do for you?" Rebbekah asked looking Lexi in the in mirror while she put on her makeup.
"Nothing really wanted to know if you wanted come with a walk with me."
"Why? Where are we going?"
"There is something I need to discuss with you and I can't do it with your brothers hanging around." Lexi said taking a seat on the bed.
"What is it about?" Rebbekah asked turning to Lexi.
"I can't tell you but please just come with me."
"Okay let's go." Rebbekah said getting up.
"That's it? You're not going to ask more questions?" Lexi said as Rebbekah slipped on her jacket.
"Well I am going to assume that whatever you want to speak to me about must be important so yes I'm not going to ask more questions." Rebbekah said opening her room door.
"Thank you Rebbekah, I haven't had a lot of friend in my life even when I was alive so I hope it's alright with you if I see you as one now."
"We girls have to stick together Lexi and I haven't had many I could call my friend either." Rebbekah said smiling at Lexi.
"So you've found the cure." Rebbekah exclaimed when Lexi had finished talking. They were in the boarding house's living room.
"Yes we think we have but you can't tell anyone not even your brothers."
"Why not?"
"Because I want you to come with me tomorrow when we go to the island for it… your brother s will destroy it."
"What are you saying?"
"I want your help in getting it."
"Why my help and not my brothers?"
"I trust you Rebbekah and things with your brothers are complicated right now."
"What happened with you and Kol? You seemed fine but now?"
"He killed one of my oldest friends because he is trying to protect his family and me."
"I'm sorry that he did that but you knew who Kol was when you two got involved so it couldn't really surprise you."
"Part of me did but I guess I wanted to believe that the dark part of him wasn't real."
"Lexi the only advice I can give you is to remember my brother won't change and if he is who you want then you'll have to accept that but as for Klaus I wouldn't bother with him."
"I'm don't understanding."
"I don't know that happened between you and my brother but Klaus ends up hurting everyone he has ever know Elijah left for one a decade because he couldn't stand to be around him."
"There is nothing going on between Klaus and me, Rebbekah."
"But something happened correct."
"Yes he kissed me…. But I told him it was a mistake and to forget that it ever happened."
"Are you saying it was a mistake because you feel guilty about the kiss or because you didn't mind that it happened?"
"I… don't know how I feel that's why I'm avoiding Kol if he found out…"
"MY brother can be very jealous and he believe that Klaus will always end up taking everything away from him."
"What do I do?" Lexi asked taking a sip from her drink.
"Talk to Kol…. Maybe it'll help you figure out what you're supposed to do."
"And if all it does make him want to kill Klaus?"
"Kol and Klaus will and have always been at each other's throats it has nothing to do with you."
"Have you ever been in love Rebbekah?" Lexi asked looking into the fire.
"Klaus has ended up killing every man I have ever loved except for Stefan."
"You and Stefan were together?" Lexi asked confused.
"It was a long time ago…. Klaus was very fond of Stefan before he became the Stefan he is today; I am told that you have helped him become better when he becomes like the Ripper again."
"I have had to do it a few times yes."
"Why did you ask if I had been in love?"
"I was might still be."
"Where is he?"
"He was killed."
"I am truly sorry to hear that Lexi; from someone who has lost pretty much everyone have ever loved I know it takes a part of you every time."
"He used to say that true love is like a fire that never burns out and if you find it never let go."
"He sounds like a wonderful man; you must miss him a lot."
"I do every day I think about him."
"My brothers never thought that any of the men I brought home were good enough for their baby sister so eventually I stopped falling in love because I knew they wouldn't been around for long." Rebbekah said lost in memory.
"That sounds very lonely…."
"It is."
"I hope you find love one day Rebbekah everyone deserves too."
"As do I Lexi as do I."
Boarding house:
"We should leave as soon as Lexi gets back."
"Damon we should wait until day time." Stefan said for about the millionth time.
"Why?"
"So we are completely aware of what we are getting into."
"We going to an island to get the cure for Elena, Stefan."
"Then why are so eager to go get it then?" Stefan asked.
"I want it for her."
"So do I."
"I know… you in love with my girlfriend"
"She was my girlfriend first and you fell in love with her then."
"So basically you both in love with Elena." Lexi said as she walked into the room.
"Where have you been?" Damon asked.
"I went out."
"Are you alright?" Stefan asked.
"I'm fine guys."
"Damon can you give us a minute please?"
"Sure." Damon asked waking out of the room.
"Why did you chaise him out?"
"Because I wanted to talk to you about the road trip we are taking when we get back?"
"What about Elena?"
"I know she loves me but she loves Damon more and that hurts but now there is no reason to stay around here."
"That's why you want to only go tomorrow?"
"Yes I am trying to delay it I guess."
"I'm sorry Stefan." Lexi said hugging Stefan.
"Its not your fault Lexi." Stefan said hugging her back.
"I'm sorry I've been to distracted lately."
"Its ok Stefan."
