Chapter 28:
Time heals all things and forgives all.
"Have you heard from Lexi since she has left?" Elena asked handing Stefan his cup for coffee.
"She phoned me last night but I am not worried about her; she can take care of herself and I am trying to give her the space she asked for and not bother her." Stefan said before taking a sip of his coffee.
"I hope that this trip will help her work through everything."
"I am certain that she will be much better when she gets home." Stefan said.
"I hope so too." Elena said.
There was an awkward silence in the kitchen after that.
"Hey guys." Jeremy said walking into the room.
"Hey." Elena and Stefan said at the same time.
"No, not at all we just talking about Lexi."
"Have you heard from it?" Jeremy asked pouring a cup of coffee.
"Yes I have but I am giving her the space she needs right now." Stefan said finishing his coffee and walking out of the room.
"You guys okay?"
"I don't know I think so but I'm not pushing it."
"Good idea." Jeremy said drinking his coffee.
"Where were you last night?"
"I was at Bonnie's."
"I would rather not hear the details if that's okay with you."
"I wasn't going to tell you anything."
"As long as you are happy?"
"Yes I am; I'm very happy." Jeremy said smiling.
"That's all that matters to me." Elena said smiling back at her little brother.
"Are you happy with Damon?" Jeremy asked before Elena could walk out of the room.
"Yes I am happy, Jeremy." Elena said smiling at him before walking out of the room.
"Hey Nicklaus where are you?" Rebekah asked walking into his study to find him working on a painting.
"Hello little sister what is so important that you have to interrupt my painting?" Klaus asked not taking his eyes off of his work.
"I haven't seen you all day today, nor did I yesterday just curious as to what you were doing." Rebekah explained.
"I have been painting." Klaus said simply.
"That is code for you have been sitting in here and moping since Lexi left."
"I am not moping, sister." Klaus said.
"Sure, you're not." Rebekah said.
"Is there something you wanted?" Klaus asked turning to face his little sister.
"You and Kol are both sitting by yourselves in your rooms and moping because Lexi has left for a while."
"She is right you know." Kol said walking into the room. Klaus put down his paint brush and walk over to his brother.
"So what do you propose we do?" Asked Klaus.
"We carry on with our lives." Kol said before walking over the couch and sitting down.
"I think Kol is right; you both have become so dependent on her."
"And when she comes back?" Klaus asked.
"We back off let her decide what to do…"
"She will pick you, Kol."
"I'm not so sure about that." Kol said.
"You guys have to stop competing for her affection; she will decide is she wants either of you or neither of you."
"So we make a deal we keep our distance from Lexi until she comes to us." Klaus said.
"Yes I think that is exactly what we should do." Agreed Kol creating peace between the two brothers.
"Hey." Caroline said walking into the Salvatore's library to find Stefan sitting in one of the chairs reading a book.
"Hey Caroline." Stefan said looking up from his book.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" Caroline asked sitting down next to him.
"Sure you can Caroline." Stefan said putting his book down.
"Well you remember that spell that Bonnie cast a while ago, just when you got back?" Caroline said.
"Yes I remember the bonding or linking spell?"
"Yes that one… well it turns out that the spell as some side effects." Caroline said.
"What do you mean it has some sort of side effect?" Stefan said.
"It turns out that the spell is also a healing spell." Caroline explained.
"And that's a negative side effect because?" Stefan asked confused.
"Well that is bad because Tyler is the one who ended up with my wounds instead of me." Caroline explained.
"What?" Stefan said scanning Caroline to see if she had any injures and finding that she had none.
"I healed completely then Tyler had all my injuries, because he is a werewolf he healed obviously but if it was someone else they might have died." Caroline explained.
"This isn't starting to sound like a good thing…" Stefan said.
"That is what I am trying to say…."
"Well let's go find Bonnie, if anyone can explain this it would be her." Stefan said getting up from his seat."
"She is at her house so we will have to go see her there or phone her and ask her to meet us here."
"Well you phone her and ask her which one of the two she would prefer." Stefan said.
"Ok I will." Caroline said taking out her phone.
…
Bonnie was busy lying on her bed looking through one of the spell books that her gran had left her when she was started by her phone ringing. Picking up the phone and smiling when she saw the caller ID was Caroline.
"Hey Car, what's up?"
"Hey Bonnie are you busy at the moment?" Caroline asked.
"Not really; what's wrong?" Bonnie asked hear an edge in Caroline's voice.
"Nothing I think; Stefan and I are on our way to you now; we need to talk to you about a spell you did a few months back "Caroline said.
"Okay see you guys in a while." Bonnie said before they both said bye and hung up.
"Who was that?" Jeremy asked walking into the room with a glass of coke in each hand.
"Caroline, she says she has a question about a spell I did." Bonnie said taking the glass form boyfriend.
"Every day it's new." Jeremy said picking up one of the spell books at paging threw it.
"Seems like it." Bonnie said looking at a spell over Jeremy's shoulder.
"What does this mean?" Asked Jeremy pointing to a piece of writing in Latin.
"I'm not it is very old and I can't make out some of the words." Bonnie said.
"Maybe Caroline will be able to read you know vampire eyesight and all." Jeremy suggested.
"Maybe we will ask her when she gets here." Bonnie said.
