"I thought we were going to wait until you started showing to tell them?" Griffin asked looking at her wife who blinked for a second before swearing, earning a gentle smack upside the head from Dragon.
"Oh well. Nothing to do about it now. Not like it matters though, I would have been showing within the next few weeks to a month anyways." Zarathustra said shrugging her shoulders slightly while Ediltrude was staring at her sister in disbelief.
"How far along are you?" DuFour asked excitedly as she looked at her sister-in-law.
"Three months next week." Zarathustra said immediately and making DuFour and all of the witches in the restaurant aside from Dragon pause as they realized something. Doing the math in their heads instantly they began to pale or look horrified.
"But the explosion…" Icy licked her suddenly very very dry lips as she recalled that.
"It happened a month and two weeks ago." Darcy finished in a whisper making Stormy's eyes widen as she caught on.
"Your baby would have been hurt in the blast." Stormy said her eyes wide and worried as she looked at her teacher who blinked before smiling softly at her students. She'd never admit it but she was touched by their concern for her and her baby.
"Don't worry girls. I didn't know I was pregnant until after Madam Cross and Dragon finished healing me, but my magic protected my stomach anyways. It's instinctual and not really a conscious reflex for pregnant magicals to have their magic subconsciously shielding their unborn child at all times. Madam Cross assured me that nothing happened to my baby in the explosion." Zarathustra said smiling warmly at her students for their concern for her and her unborn child as she placed her hands over her stomach, making the girls relax a bit while the other parents in the café nodded in agreement.
"That's true. It's certainly saved Bloom's life back when I was pregnant, that idiot…" DuFour trailed off growling and making Ediltrude scowl heavily at what seemed to be a shared memory.
"A Specialist didn't like the fact that Iris was rejecting him because she was already married, and he was double pissed because I'm a witch and he's an idiotic prejudiced bastard. He decided to punch Iris in the stomach, despite her being four months pregnant and showing. I ripped him to pieces, quite literally with my bare hands." Ediltrude said scowling as she recalled that. She was tempted to discover time travel just so she could go back and rip him apart all over again. How dare he try to hurt her wife and unborn daughter?
"Besides do any of you really think Stella would still be alive if she not only injured Zarathustra but also harmed her baby?" Dragon asked raising an eyebrow at her 'hatchlings' who all paused for a moment before smirking darkly at the suddenly very pale fairy. She…didn't mean to endanger a baby. Whether the baby would be a witch or not didn't matter. She didn't mean to threaten and possibly kill an unborn child.
"If I didn't kill her then Ediltrude or Dragon would have." Griffin agreed as she held Zarathustra close, her arms wrapped around the smaller womans' stomach.
"I can get Ediltrude or Dragon killing her but why you Headwitchress?" Stormy asked confused and making her sisters palms meet their faces…along with at least half of the other students in the café.
"Stormy…sometimes I swear you're born blond." Icy said her eyebrow twitching slightly and making a few snicker while Stormy looked offended.
"Headmistress Griffin is obviously Professor Zarathustra's wife. Which means it's more likely than not that the baby the Prof is carrying is also Ms. Griffin's baby as well." Darcy explained slowly to her sister who blinked for a moment before giving out an 'oh' of realization and look a bit embarrassed at not having figured that out herself.
"That is true but Zara is also my best friend so I'd double kill her." Griffin said smirking as she placed her chin on Zarathustra's head, a glare on her face making her smirk seem dangerous as she looked at the shocked and disgusted Stella.
"Ugh. Disgu-" Stella was cut off by Dragon standing and literally picking the girl up off of the floor by the back of her skimpy shirt in a surprising show of strength that was hidden by her petite and almost dainty size.
"Say another bad thing about them and I'll roast you." Dragon warned with smoke coming from her mouth as she literally carried the girl over to the door and threw her out on her ass making quite a few people on the street laugh, and even more witches snickered since Stella 'happened' to land in a mud puddle.
"That's my girl." Ediltrude said with a proud grin as everyone stared at Dragon in disbelief. They had never thought she'd do something like that.
"Protective as a mother dragon." Stormy muttered half remembering that part of her 'moms' description while Dragon smiled at Zarathustra and Griffin.
"Don't worry about that dimwit. She's blond. You two make a lovely couple and it's clear for everyone to see that you love each other to pieces. You'll be great parents." Dragon said smiling warmly at Zarathustra and Griffin who blushed a bit but smiled thankfully at her.
"I hope I'm half as good of a mother as you are." Zarathustra said murmuring it to herself almost as she caressed her stomach.
"You won't be perfect Zara, no one is. But you'll love your daughter more than anything or anyone else in the universe and you'll give her the best life possible. That's what it means to be a good mother." Dragon said softly as she stepped up and hugged the shortest of the Cloud Tower teachers.
"Thanks mama Dragon." Zarathustra said smiling warmly at Dragon who gave her a warm smile in return.
Everyone just smiled softly, none of the fairies would believe it unless they saw it for themselves, as Dragon pressed a gentle kiss to Zarathustra's forehead that she didn't protest and instead blushed under the title.
"Anytime baby girl."
