Chapter 33:
Lexi was busy watching TV when her cell-phone started ringing
"Hey." She heard Stefan's voice say as soon as she put the phone to her ear.
"Hey Stefan, how you?" Lexi said into her phone's headset.
"I'm doing fine and how are you Lexi?" Stefan asked his best friend.
"I'm doing really well actually and I was thinking that it's been about two weeks since I left so will be coming home tomorrow." Lexi said as she flipped through the channels on the TV.
"Really, that's wonderful to hear." Stefan said sounding very cheerful.
"So what's going on I can tell that something is going on." Lexi asked.
"Well it's kind of a long story but I will tell you tomorrow when you get here." Stefan said.
"That sounds like a plan, how are things with Elena and everyone else that side?" Asked Lexi.
"Well they are going okay thanks and with you?" Stefan replied.
"Stefan what's going on?" Lexi asked seeing through Stefan immediately.
"Just complicated to explain, promise to answer all your questions tomorrow." Stefan explained.
"I look forward to hearing about everything." Lexi replied.
"Can't wait for you to come home." Stefan said.
"I know neither can I." Lexi said as they hung up. Sitting there on the couch alone, she realised that was happy that she could go home but not happy about leaving her little cabin of isolation. She knows that she has to go home and see all her friends.
"Who were you talking to?" Asked Damon as soon as Stefan put the phone.
"That was Lexi." Stefan replied putting the phone back on the table.
"Is she okay?" Damon asked sounding concerned.
"She says that she is doing a lot better and will be coming home tomorrow."
"That's great to hear will be nice to have here back but I actually have two things I want to talk to you about." Damon said sitting down on one of the couches.
"I agree with you that it will be nice to have her back and what do you want to talk about?" Stefan asked knowing his brother only makes polite conversation when he wants to either talk about something or wants something.
"She says she is the witch that cased that spell on Caroline and Tyler." Stefan started to explain walking over to the fireplace and taking a seat on the couch closest to the fireplace.
"So what are we supposed to do? Babysit her? "Damon asked also moving over to the fireplace but not sitting down.
"We aren't sure if she's been completely honest with us and if there is any truth to what is saying or if she is busy tricking us so I suggested she stays here for a bit so we can keep an eye on her while Bonnie seems if there is any truth to what she is saying." Stefan explained to his brother.
"So you kidnapped a woman who for all we know is just trying to get close to us."
"I didn't kidnap her, she came of her own free will and that is why I wanted her brother I don't trust her either." Stefan explained to his paranoid brother.
"You think she is actually telling the truth though; she gets hired to cast a spell on someone she doesn't know than has a change of heart after she cast it and now wants to fix her mess? Seems a little far-fetched to me." Damon said staring into the fire.
"That is exactly what I am planning on doing." Lucy said walking into the room. Clearly she had heard what Damon had been saying.
"Why the sudden change of heart? What is in it for you?" Damon asked not buying what the girl, pretty as he thought she was, was busy selling.
"I figured out what Klaus, who hired me, was planning on doing after the spell had been completed so I left couldn't go through with it." Lucy explained.
"You just decided to be a good person. Damon commented.
"Damon just ease up a little bit ok." Stefan said not liking that Damon was all but bully the girl. Well she was actually around early 20's but still not the point.
"Why are you letting me to ease up? She is the person who might be reasonable for all the crap that has been going around here." Damon said looking from his brother to young witch standing in front of him.
"I understand where you are coming from but you are busy yelling her; she is still a witch and might just turn you into a frog if you aren't careful." Stefan said even though he agreed with his brother. They really didn't know that much about the girl. She could actually just be playing them but that is exactly why he wanted her to stay with them so he could keep an eye on the seemingly nice girl but as everyone appearances can be misleading.
He stood next to his brother, both of them studied the woman for a few seconds.
"Damon we are being rude; won't you get our guest a drink." Stefan said Damon just looking at his brother back at the witch then left the room.
"I am going to take that as a no he won't." Lucy said as they heard the front door slam.
"I am sorry about my brother; you understand why though." Stefan said.
"I do understand if the roles were reversed I would be acting the same way towards him and you for that matter." Lucy said looking away from Stefan and looking at the floor.
"I have to agree with him on the trusting part however." Stefan taking a step towards the witch who looked up into his eyes as she looked up from the floor.
"IF any harm comes to any of my friends or anyone I care about I will not be stopping Damon from killing you are we clear on that?" Stefan stoke the words softly so that they wouldn't be forgotten.
"Y….yes we are clear." Lucy stammered terrified.
"I am glad we understand each other." Stefan replied slowly.
Bonnie was sitting on her bed reading over the spell they had found when she heard footsteps coming from downstairs.
"Jeremy is that you? This isn't funny." Bonnie called moving her eyes to the doorway but not moving from the bed.
No response came from downstairs.
"Whoever you are I am calling the police." Bonnie yells again reaching for her phone and scrolling down to Stefan's number.
Police or vampire I wonder which one will win there.
Stefan was busy reading a book when he saw his phone light up. He picked it up and saw that it was Bonnie calling.
"Hey Bonnie." He said answering the phone.
"Stefan I think someone is in my house; I thought maybe it was Jeremy trying to be funny but I heard stuff breaking down stairs."
"What? Are you okay? You need to go and hide in the bathroom I will be there in two minutes." Stefan said grabbing his jacket and running to the front door.
"I am already in here." Bonnie replied.
"Good lock the door and don't make a sound." Stefan instructed Bonnie.
Two minutes later Stefan was outside Bonnie's house.
"Bonnie?" He called getting worried when he didn't hear a response.
"Stefan is that you?" He heard Bonnie call from upstairs.
"It's me Bonnie where are you?" Stefan asked running up the stairs.
"I am in my room." Bonnie replied.
When Stefan walked into Bonnie's room he froze in the doorway.
"Oh my word I can't believe! How are you here? How are alive?" Stefan asked stumbling over his words.
"I can explain." The person said holding up his hands in a surrendering gesture.
