They never have been, what with growing up in a community home and pining over her best friend that refuses to see her as anything more than that. The rule change of the seventy-fourth Hunger Games is never even conceptualized, and Katniss wins alone. The sparks of rebellion are still catching, just slowly. District 13 was actually destroyed, meaning the districts have no outside help, and the Hunger Games continue as usual. This year is a Quarter Quell. Who will emerge victorious from the jungle of hourly horrors?

After the Sixth Quarter Quell, the peace Panem has seen for the last 75 years has been shattered. Two leaders assassinated. A country on the verge of war. A rebellion was sparked during the 95th Hunger Games. Panem almost fell. But the Capitol squashed the rebellion, extinguishing any hope at a new future. Now, President Pitheart is in charge, and he refuses to allow Panem to break. With all his victors on a tight leash, he's about to welcome 24 new tributes to the 110th Hunger Games. Mrs. Snow was married to her husband for more years than her fingers could count and Mr. Heavensbee had great plans laid out for the nation that would get him removed from the precious thing called 'life' if found out. Somehow, both collide at an evening dinner, share a few interests, and repeatedly have to remind themselves that they shouldn't be that foolish.

A satirical comedy told from the perspective of tribute Midnight Abernathy, who has no redeeming qualities but thinks he is a god. Disclaimer: I cannot be held accountable for any of the garbage that Midnight spews. I am fully aware that he is... a unique specimen.
