Chapter 10 – Consequence
Trying to escape, Naruto and the Straw Hats floated over the island with Princess Shirahoshi following alongside the ship.
"Why did all of you leave the plaza as if you are running away from something?" The princess asks curiously.
Megalo was pulling the ship with the aid of a bubble balloon.
"After we made a giant spectaple like that fighting in front of the entire country? Come on, think about it, if we stay, they might declare us a hero or something…" Shivering at the thought, Zoro grunted with his upper lip curled in disdain.
"Don't you want to be treated as heroes?" Shirahoshi wondered and Sanji squealed in delight seeing the princess' cute expression.
"Do you know what a hero is? He's the kind of guy that shares his drinks with everyone else. While I want to drink all of them on my own!" Zoro explained indignantly.
"Seriously?! What kind of logic is that? You and Luffy are the same idiots!" Nami is appalled to hear Zoro making the same argument as their captain. She then overheard Luffy trying to convince Jinbei and Naruto to join their crew.
The blonde kunoichi smiled hesitantly while Jinbei politely declined the offer.
"Why would you say no, Jinbei?! Come on, let's go adventuring together…" Turning to look at Naruto, she once again saw Luffy's childish expression, which is kinda cute. "And you! I want a ninja in my crew. Please please pleaseeee! Join meeeee!"
Naruto scratches her head, now feeling uncomfortable. Where was Ace when she needed him?
"Yeah, the two of you should join our crew!" Usopp suggested as well, his eyes sparkling from the idea of these two strong fighters joining their crew.
"It would be awesome to have a former Shichibukai and a ninja like you join the crew, Jinbei-san! Naruto-chan!" Chopper added excitingly.
Sighing, Jinbei answered why he cannot join now. He explained that there are some things he needed to take care of first before he could travel with them.
"You better keep your promise, all right?!" Luffy demanded Jinbei.
Now that Jinbei made his excuse, the rest of the Straw Hats turned to look at the blonde kunoichi waiting for her response. Naruto really did wish her pirate were here to make his excuse. Not that she mind joining Luffy's crew.
"Ah, well. You see…"
"Hey now! Don't pressure the pretty lady…" Sanji commented seriously and in turn looks at Naruto with that love struck expression on his eyes while dancing around her. "Surely, you don't want your brother getting mad or something…"
"Fufufu. Looks like captain-san certainly likes Shinobi-san…" Robin remarked interestingly.
"A friend of Luffy is a friend of ours… We will wait for you Jinbei and Naruto…" Franky added comically as he strikes his signature pose.
Relieved, Naruto smiled and Jinbei muttered his thanks.
"So, where to now? Should we head towards the New World?" Zoro asks everyone.
"W-what? Are you leaving already? Can you stay a little while longer?" Shirahoshi said as her tears started to fall once more. "We haven't been able to thank you properly and we barely had the chance to talk…"
"She's right! We should stay for one week more at the mermaid café!" Sanji suggested happily. Usopp slaps him in the head knowing the motive behind the suggestion.
Then an Ammo Knight was able to catch up and calls out to them while informing King Neptune via a den den mushi.
"Luffy-kun. We still owe you a proper banquet. Will you not join us?" The King asks.
Hearing the word banquet, Luffy immediately agrees with a drool on his face and tells Neptune that he will pick up Keimi and Hatchan before going to the palace.
That day, Fishman Island and her people finally break the barrier between two races. And it's all thanks to a small group of pirates and an unexpected guest.

It was a wonderful party and while the others are busy with the celebration…
Robin took the King for a private conversation but unknown to them Caribou overheard everything.
An ancient weapon.
A power so great that is capable of destroying the world.
Looks like the infamous rookie pirate hit the jackpot this time. Wonderful.
From the other part of the palace, Jinbei told Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates the events that happened on their two year absence.
Blackbeard's plan to hunt down powerful Devil Fruit users and his rise of becoming one of the Yonko.
And the duel between Aokiji and Akainu.
Naruto who were listening halfheartedly from the background but did not pay much of an attention knowing that it doesn't concern her. But now she knew who to look out for when the time comes. She did remember the name of the people who tried to kill her pirate.
One of them became the leader of the marines.
Sakazuki also known as Akainu.
And the other became a Yonko who took the old man's vacant post.
Marshall D. Teach or what others call him now, Blackbeard.
Naruto smiled sinisterly plotting ways to kill those people for hurting her beloved. Usopp moved farther away from her when the sniper felt the intent behind those ominous clouds hanging over her head.
"Now that the old man is dead, Blackbeard will conquer those territories since he was familiar with them for being part of the Whitebeard Pirates for many years…" Jinbe explained.
"Marco and the other commanders are trying their best to protect the rest of jiji's territories that is why he… uhm, I mean Ace, isn't with me right now." Naruto informed everyone of what she knew before leaving Ace's crew. Of course, she wouldn't tell them about the marital problems she had with that person.
"His death may cripple them momentarily but knowing the dedication each one has, I'm sure they'll be able to recover in no time."
"True…" Jinbei nodded but then he noticed Luffy devouring the food he brought earlier. "Luffy! Are you even listening to me?!"
His vein throbbed irritatingly for the younger man's oblivious reaction. "You are supposed to be the captain of this crew! You need to know the basics! The lives of your crew are your responsibility, Luffy? Luffy!"
Naruto laughed out loud seeing Jinbei's frustration towards Luffy. She could almost see Ace doing the same with Marco and the rest of the commanders.
"It's all right, Jinbei-san. At least the rest of us know." Sanji said amusingly while taking a puff of his cigar.
Giggling, Chopper added in an informative voice. "Hmm. Isn't a 'Captain' someone who doesn't listen to what anybody says?"
Waving her hands dismissively, Nami added her own observation. "That is how our Luffy is. Jinbei must have been referring to another captain, am I right?"
Sweat dropping, the fishman sighed in defeat at the Straw Hat's antics. "Are you sure you people know what you are doing?"
"Now, you're telling us?" The young pirates answered simultaneously while Zoro continued his sleep from the sidelines with Naruto staring blankly off to space as if something was not feeling right. At the same time, Luffy sensed it as well and called out for Sanji and Zoro whose snot bubble pops out.
"Looks like we've got an uninvited guest?"
"Now that you've mentioned it…"
"Indeed." Zoro commented.
Naruto smiled as Luffy turn to look at her with that awfully familiar look in his eyes which seems to be shining with mischief and mayhem. The kunoichi nodded in agreement.
It's time to take a walk.

After disposing the annoying pest and learning from the King and the Minister of the Right that the said thief stole the entire kingdom's treasure, Nami furiously gave each one of them a smack in the head and kick them off towards the city to look for the said thief and retrieve those treasures back.
Naruto used her clones and a shunshin to save the others from one nasty fall (not that it will hurt these three at the least) and landed safely in the town proper. Sanji was very ecstatic and hugged her double much to the clone's confusion. The said clone was even blushing for the said contact.
Zoro grunted his thanks albeit shyly to his assigned Naruto clone and kicked the shitty cook in the head to stop the said blonde from harassing the other clone.
Naruto and Luffy laughed in amusement. The Uzumaki started thinking to herself as a thought came into mind; she and teme did not act this way on their younger years towards one another, right?
After a few minutes, Luffy shouted telling them that he found the treasures and the culprit as well. Caribou looked so wasted. Luffy did manage to the knock the ugly pirate out as Naruto poke him with her foot. Sanji and Zoro even stepped on him. Impressive.
"Are you sure we can take all of these things?" Naruto asks the three men who are busy picking up pieces of treasures littered everywhere. Sanji twirled beside her in agreement.
"Oh yeah. The king said so," Giggling happily, Luffy raised one of the chests muttering the same word all over again. "Meat! Meat! We can buy so much meat! I'm so happy!"
"Was he storing all these inside his weird marshy body?" Zoro looks curiously at the fallen pirate. "Interesting…"
"Who cares? Now let's go back to the palace before Nami hits us again." Luffy said as they started to carry the bag full of treasures.
"HNNNGGGGHHHH!"
"Uhm, guys. Do you need help?" Naruto asks as the trio started to move an inch. Zoro turned and gave her a smaller bag full of gems.
"!?"
The swordsman smirked at her and turned away to carry his bag without much of an effort unlike the other two. Looks like she earned Zoro's respect as he started to warm up to her unlike the first time they met. Naruto smiled while shaking her head and followed them closely behind.
"Seriously guys. I can lessen the baggage using chakra…"
"No need to trouble yourself, my dear Naruto-hime! We can perfectly carry these things! No worries at all." Sanji chimed happily.
Somewhere along the way, they saw the candy factory with some merfolks standing outside the establishment as well as the Minister of the Left and a big talking cat. Or was it a dog?
"Oh! Everyone's here…" Smiling happily, Luffy approached the people and gave them a friendly wave while Sanji saw some mermaids hanging around as well. No need to point out his reaction as Zoro and Naruto sighed in response. "The sweets you gave me are really delicious. I want to have some more!"
Ignoring their flustered looks, the big cat named Pekoms, asks who they are. Remembering his book, he flips through the pages and learned who the boy is.
"What's a famous pirate like you doing in a place like this?" Pekoms muttered to himself but when he overheard what he says about sweets turned to the Minister and questioned him once again. "What does he means by that?"
"And who the hell are you?" Luffy asks the cat. Naruto came near the thing and tugs its hair while poking at his fur.
"Oh! Are you a lion?"
"Of course I am? Will you cut that out!?" Pekoms shouted irritatingly and gave Naruto a glare which the blonde thought was really cute. Sanji came to the rescue and drags the blonde kunoichi away while growling at the lion.
"What is the meaning of this?! This boy claims to have been eating your sweets!" Taking his glasses off, the lion stared threateningly towards the Minister who tried to explain everything.
"Glaring at these people will not help us obtain the sweets we have come for!"
"?!"
"Whoah! Another weird guy?" Luffy exclaimed as the stranger stood to his full height. A longlegged man wearing an egg shell like pants and a pink tuxedo stares curiously at the newcomers. He sports a teacup full of hot tea which Zoro saw he drinks from upon their arrival.
"We have four days till the tea party. I want to settle this in a peaceable manner to avoid further problems…"
"Who're you?" Zoro asks suspiciously.
"Oho! Where are my manners…" Chuckling, the stranger bowed and raised his teacup hat. "I am Baron Tamago and I advise you to remember that name. So tell me, is it true that you have been enjoying the fruits of this wonderful factory's labour?"
"Hmmm. He's like a compass…!" Zoro muttered and Naruto look at the tallest man she saw next to oyaji and stared.
She missed the explanation he gave and felt Luffy's fascination towards Big Mom, a Yonko like the old man. But then, everything changes when she heard how the said pirate destroys those who did not meet her deadline. It was a how these territories are protected: they must pay all sweets they can produce in return for using her flag.
Unacceptable!
"You gonna destroy Fishman Island? What are you, stupid?" Luffy yelled angrily. "Not right after we just saved it. That's absurd!"
"Destroying a country over a something that small… How infuriating!" Naruto said in a cold voice. Zoro felt the chill in his spine and moved a little farther away from the blonde kunoichi.
Purupurupuru.
"That will be her. I reported the situation we are currently having right now." Pekoms said much to the scared reactions of the merfolks.
Purupurupuru.
"Go on then, answer her call…" The Baron said towards his partner.
"You answer it! I don't like getting yelled at!" The lion responded hiding behind the taller one's legs.
"Hello?" Both men drop their jaws in shock when Luffy answered the call. "Are you Big Mom?" Luffy asks the caller and Naruto laughed quietly for the younger pirate's straightforwardness.
"…?"
Pekoms and the Baron started to sweat bullets. "Hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it!"
"Your voice doesn't sound like Pekoms' or Tamago's… To whom am I speaking with?"
"I'm the man who will become the next Pirate King! I'm Monkey D. Luffy!"
"Hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it!" The two tried to stop Luffy from talking but then Naruto interfered and glared murderously at them.
"Monkey… D? I see. So you must be Garp's grandson. The boy who caused ruckus during the war two years ago…"
"If you are looking for sweets, there aren't any sweets here…"
"!" Everyone was totally speechless.
"I ate all of them!"
"So it's true?! There are no sweets for me? There ought to be ten tons of them…"
"I ate all of ten tons of them!"
"Straw Hat-sama! You don't have to…"
"What were you thinking?!" Pekoms and Tamago questioned Luffy but then Naruto blocked their tirade with just one look and the lion hid behind the Baron, shaking.
"What a simple boy. It's not good to lie, you know… I can tell that you are lying just to protect your fishman friends."
"Luffy-kun is not lying. I barely managed to get a few pieces myself…"
"And who is this?"
"She's Naruto. My brother's girlfriend…" Luffy commented and heard Sanji denied his statement.
"So Roger's son still alive? Hmm… Interesting…"
"Here's what I gonna do. In payment for all the sweets I've eaten, I will give you all my treasures…"
"And what will I do with your treasures? I cannot eat them? It's the sweets I want, boy!" Big Mom's voice thundered all throughout the factory as if the den den mushi is redirecting her anger.
"Treasure?" Tamago's ears perked up. "Hold it! Are you saying those bags are full of treasure?" Luffy nodded. "Mama, this is Tamago. If you could just calm down for a moment…"
Continuing their conversation, Luffy huffed and sat beside the bag of treasures, looking quite pissed. Naruto approached him and stood by his side.
"You okay?" The blonde asks quietly.
"I can't believe that pirate! Who the hell she think she is?"
For a moment, Naruto paused and frowned to herself. "Not everyone follows the same ideals as the old man or your pirate crew. But I think if the time comes, you'll become a great Pirate King… And by then, you will know what to do in things like these…"
Her words totally left Luffy flabbergasted. "You believe what I said? That I will become the next Pirate King?" His eyes shine ecstatically. "But, what about Ace? I thought he also wanted to be the Pirate King as well?"
"Nah! He just said those things to annoy you…" Naruto added amusingly.
"Are you sure?" Luffy looked quite pleased. "Well, that's a relief. I still have doubts on myself if I can really fight and defeat him, ya know."
"Yeah, so I've heard…" Patting him gently in the head, Luffy gave her a very wide grin. The Baron turned towards them and gave Luffy the den den mushi.
"Monkey D. Luffy… I do find you quite interesting… The only pirate brave enough to defy me… So here is what I'll do… Since you wanted to protect these people so much, I'll do as you wish. I change my target from Fishman Island to your little crew! Understood!"
"?!"
"I won't forget your name, little boy. So come and meet me in the New World!"
"Damn right! I've got a bone to pick with you too!"
"?!"
"I can't leave this island in the hands of someone like you. It's not safe!" Luffy said frustratingly.
Zoro and Sanji both smile in response while Naruto snorted amusingly and flipped one of her pigtails. Things are starting to get interesting, hmm? She wonders what Ace would do.
"So I'm going to find you in the New World, beat you up… And make Fishman Island into my own territory! That's a promise!" Straw Hat Luffy declared with conviction.
