12. Chapter 11 – Emergence

Chapter 11 – Emergence

An hour had passed since the departure of the Straw Hat Pirates. And the island of the merfolks has been quite lonely without those humans.

However, everyone is in good spirits and the children have started playing pirates. Some of them even requested for a hero's hat similar to what a certain rubbery captain wears.

Jinbei chuckled in amusement and agrees to buy the said hats once he went to the surface. Walking along the plaza, he mentally prepared a few things he needed to accomplish. First, he must deliver Caribou to the Marines so that he won't cause too much trouble in the island.

Second, is to inform the female Yonko that he wanted to sever their ties. Thinking of an acceptable reason may be difficult but if she ever chooses to fight with the Straw Hat Pirates, his allegiance has already been determined the moment the said thought came to mind.

"Hmmm… Always a thinker, I see. You never really did change, Jinbei-san…"

Surprised, the Sun Pirate captain located the owner of the said voice. From one of the establishments scattered along Coral Hill, the former Warlord saw a familiar figure covered in blue flames, like a cloak similar to the one the female kunoichi used earlier.

"A-ace?"

"Hey Jinbei. What's up?" Portgas D. Ace greeted his old friend with a wide smile on his face wearing his signature orange hat and his ever present red beaded necklace.

"There, all done…" Chopper said enthusiastically.

"Finally," Breathing out a sigh of relief, Naruto giggled and fixed her blouse. "I really can't believe a furry little creature like you can make me do a check-up. You are as reliable as a Sakura-chan and that old hag…"

Cleaning his equipment's, Chopper chirped in response and smiled towards the blonde. "I don't know who you are referring to. But if they are doctors as well, I suppose I should be glad for the comparison, ne?" But then, the reindeer gave Naruto a scary look while wiggling like a frenzied Sanji with his signature twirling.

Scratching her head in amusement, Naruto chuckled. "So, what seems to be the verdict? Am I sick or something?"

"I'm not sure. I still have to make a couple of tests to confirm my suspicion," Chopper wrote something in his notepad and walks toward the door. "But for my peace of mind and to be relatively sure, I don't want you to use stressful techniques like the one you used to save Luffy's life. Okay?"

"Ah, okay." Naruto complied even though she did not understand anything Chopper said. She knew from experience that she is the type of person that doesn't get sick because of her Uzumaki genes and even if Kurama is no longer sealed within her, she still heal very fast.

From the door to the sick bay, rubber arms stretched to grab Naruto away. Secretly, the blonde kunoichi smirked. 'Right on time, Luffy.' Ignoring Chopper's indignant yell, Naruto laughed heartily as she lets herself be dragged by the captain to his favorite place in the ship which seems to be her favored spot as well.

She really is enjoying her stay with the Straw Hats.

The monster trio still has bandages from Nami's beatings after the 'Big Mom incident' and if it wasn't for her, the navigator would have killed them. For whatever reason, the woman hugged her in delight much to Sanji's envy and proceeded to chat with her along with Robin for last minute shopping.

Even with Princess Shirahoshi's crying, the crew left with a good disposition. Although Sanji and Zoro managed to get into another one of their fights which really amuses her to no end. They even received a three needle log pose as a gift and with Luffy's suggestion, much to the horrified expression of Usopp, Nami and Chopper, a certain route was already selected.

With promises made and new friendship formed between two races (or three if you count Chopper as he is still an animal), the Straw Hats left Fishman Island. Atop Sunny's figurehead, Luffy stood with an anticipated smile on his face.

"Luffy? What's wrong?" Zoro asks his captain. Naruto and the others heard it as well. She sat up properly from the foot of the stairs in front of the helm at soldier's deck facing the figurehead where Luffy turned and faced everyone.

"Once we reach the surface, we'll be in the same sea as Shanks," smiling widely, Luffy chuckled and placed his hand on top of his head, his precious straw hat. "I can't wait to see him…"

From Ace's stories, Red Hair Shanks or most commonly known as Akagami no Shankusu, is another Yonko in the New World that inspired Luffy to become a pirate and saved his little brother's life. Even losing an arm, the said pirate is as strong as the late Whitebeard captain. Naruto could not also wait to meet the said man in person.

He is the one who gave the straw hat Luffy always wore. The captain's other treasure aside from his nakama.

"Once we get above the waves, we'll be in the greatest sea of all…"

"Took us long enough." Smirking, Zoro held his swords. "Anyone who opposes us… I'll slice them all to pieces."

"Don't worry. I'll take you anywhere you want to go!" Nami said cheerfully. "Of course, there are lots of treasure we can find, maybe this time you all know what to do!" Her eyes looking greedily, Naruto's sweat dropped as Robin laughed amusingly.

"The Sunny won't let us down… She is SUPER!" Franky yelled as he leans to one side and bended one knee as he throws his head back while his arms go over his head to form his tattoo in a single star. It was like Gai-sensei and Lee's fearsome jutsu minus the sparkles. Just thinking about it still gave Naruto the chills.

Taking a whiff from his cigar, Sanji added his own promise. "Don't worry everyone, I'll make sure you never go hungry!"

"You can count on me to heal your injuries!" Chopper said and bristled defiantly when Naruto looks at him with a hopeful smile as she gave the doctor a peace sign trying to make amends. "No! I am not referring to you for one bit!"

"With a warrior of the sea like me on board, there is nothing to fear!" Usopp muttered bravely albeit shakily despite the fear he and Chopper shouted earlier when they learned that their captain challenges the female Yonko.

"Yohohoho! Just a little longer, Laboon. We're almost halfway through!" Brook sang as he strummed his guitar in tune of their crew's energetic declaration.

Raising his finger to the top, Luffy ordered, acting like a true captain for once. "Full speed ahead men! To the New World!"

"To the New World!" The Straw Hats shouted with vigor and Naruto could not help but feel excited as well.

"Yeah!"

Fishman Island…

Ace could not believe the tales Jinbei, the three princes and the king himself had told him about his brother's 'adventures'. Adding salt to the injury was Naruto herself. He paled considerably when he learned that his kunoichi passed out after healing Luffy. How severe his little brother's injuries are for his blonde to lose consciousness after healing him?

She does not do that even after their training or every time she uses one of her flashy techniques.

He did remember her the day he first met her when she healed the gaping wound on his chest courtesy of that bastard. She was glowing, like an angel.

And her eyes… Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Ace slapped himself to focus on the matter at hand.

But then she did not faint after healing him, so what gives?

Anxiety and worry started to creep its way towards his heart and Ace could not stop himself from fretting especially when the former Shichibukai accidentally slips some valuable information and with his infamous glare, the fishman spitted out how Luffy picked a fight with Big Mama, a Yonko famous for her volatile nature.

What the…!? Is Luffy insane?

"For your peace of mind, why don't you follow them already?" Jinbei asks the fire user with a knowing smile on his face. "They haven't gotten that far and knowing your brother, they probably encountered something interesting to distract them from their journey."

Sighing tiredly, Ace ran one callused hand over his wild tresses and uses the other to place his red hat securely over his head.

"You are right. I really needed to catch up to them and reprimand my brother doing any more catastrophic scenarios that will surely involve my Naruto in one of his crazy whims."

Reverting back to his old usual self, Ace bid farewell to the royal family and Jinbei accompanied him outside the palace.

"I will not ask how you can leave this island on your own," Jinbei said in a matter of fact tone. "Perhaps in your absence, you learned something new?" The fishman inquired curiously.

His mouth turned into a smirked and tipped his hat low enough to hide his eyes. "Indeed. My Naruto is a very good instructor…" Letting his fire surrounds him. Ace gave one last wave towards his friend. "I'll be seeing you soon, Jinbei… Bye for now."

Flames of blue clouded his vision as darkness and an empty void surrounded his being. The fire user found himself in a different dimension similar to the alternate plane a certain Uchiha uses in his escape. Ace sat crossed legged and scrutinized the map he draw on the floor. The map of the New World. From there, he assessed the possible routes the Straw Hats would take to reach the surface.

"Right… The islands in this area seem to be the most logical route they would take knowing that the magnetic field surrounding it will definitely catch Luffy's attention." Nodding to himself, Ace grunted anxiously when he remembered that Naruto might still be angry at him.

"I just hope she is in a good mood when she sees me…" Sighing worriedly, the newly appointed First Division Commander of the new Whitebeard Pirates grumble to himself and let his flames to surround him once more using his new technique to bring him to the outside world. A very convenient ability to go anywhere he wanted. Well, the only limitation to the said skill is that he can only use the blue one to travel to a familiar place that he's been to before.

It is still an unknown mystery as to how his flames brought him to Naruto's world.

And like Marco's flames, the blue one cannot hurt anyone. When he first used this flame, it was meant to protect Luffy. Well, Ace is good with that fact. His regular fire is enough to destroy his enemies.

And being grateful with the said flames, he was able to meet the person who made living his life bearable. Aside from his usual misfortune and the likes.

But there are times that the blue flames have a mind of its own.

Just like that exact moment when he opened his eyes and gave a quick look at his surroundings. Fire Fist Ace had the urge to curse out loud and raise his hands in frustration.

Of all the things he can appear into, why in the hell did his flames choose a marine filled navy ship?

Seriously? For crying out loud.

Defending himself is not an option since he felt an object near his jugular aside from numerous guns and rifles pointed at his person. The said object smelt of seastone.

"I do not know if stupidity is hereditary among your kin. But you got the balls to come directly to us, Portgas D. Ace. Or should I call you by your birth name Gol D. Ace?" Ace heard a not so familiar voice. Someone he never expected to hear or see at that part of the New World.

Inwardly, he smirked. If he's here, it means that there is 101% chance that he will meet his brother and his crew in the nearest future.

Fantastic.

"I still go by my mother's name," Shrugging his shoulders dismissively, Ace turned to face his brother's (cough) number one (cough) frenemy. With one finger, he moved the weapon away from his neck using his gloved hand. "What about you?" He asks back in retort. With a devious smile on his lips, Ace raised one brow when he sensed someone behind him. This time, a sharp and pointy object is prodding at his back; one wrong move and he will find a new hole in his abdomen. "What are you doing here?"

Frowning at this pirate's nonchalant behavior, Vice-Admiral Smoker shook his head and he nodded at Tashigi to capture the said pirate. The man himself did not give them much of a fight, even offering his hands to be shackled with pure seastone, which made him suspicious enough thinking that there is more to his reappearance on this part of the sea.

After securing their prisoner near the mast, Tashigi squeaked when the most celebrated pirate of all time tugs her coat and asks for a glass of water after giving her a friendly smile which is quite unusual based on her opinion while the rest of the marines surrounding them the moment he appeared minutes ago gave an indignant yell and various violent reactions.

"Enough!" Smoker threw his jutte and aimed it beside Portgas' head. The man himself did not even look bothered by the proximity of his weapon and his head as if he knew he couldn't and would not kill him without the Fleet Admiral's approval.

Highly suspicious indeed.

Snapping angrily to silence everyone else, the White Hunter glared menacingly towards Ace who in turn looks at him innocently.

"I do not know what your motives are for offering yourself to us, but if you ever do anything foolish, I will kill you even without his consent." Smoker threatened

Scoffing, Ace glowered in response hearing the Hunter's words. "As if I'll let you kill me…" He mumbled quietly to himself as he tries to cross his arms to make his argument but then he remembered the restrictions; the fire user suddenly regretted the shackles and drops his hands in a lazy manner finally noticing a few pirates whom are in the same position as him. A couple of haggard looking pirates who paled considerably when he turned his attention towards them.

"Oh, hey there! What's up?" Greeting them cheerfully, the said pirates scattered farther away from him as if they saw a ghost. Right, most of these people knew that he's dead. And the government is trying their best to make it stay that way.

From a distance, he heard a Den Den Mushi rang. Everyone on deck including the barbarian looking marines held their own breath in anticipation yet no one answered the call. What was the black transponder snail use is again?

/"Hello?! This is Luffy! I'm going to be the next Pirate King!"/

Ace sweatdrop hearing his brother's voice and a resounding slap from one of his crew whom he identified as their sniper, Usopp.

/"What the hell! Do you really need so say that?!"/

/"Help! Anyone! Please help us!"/

A distress call? Punk Hazard? Words are random and from what Ace can gather, the caller is in grave danger.

Danger that seems to follow his brother whenever and anywhere he goes.

Great, just great.

Voices started to build up around him as some recognize the place the caller spoke of. Knowing his brother, he will not hesitate to help anyone in need. And judging from the reactions he perceived from these people, Punk Hazard seems to be an ideal place for Luffy's preferred adventure.

Oh well.

Earlier that day…

After Luffy and the others caught a sea king, which has been eaten by two other sea kings bigger than the former, the ship was then sucked into a weird 'thing' much to Naruto's amazement. Weird things seem to appear every now and then in this strange sea snake which is kinda familiar…

"Wow! That thing is freaking huge!"

"That is called The White Storm," Robin said with her usually impassive face. She looks worried though.

"Hm?" Luffy mumbled while rubbing his chin.

"What's that?" Frowning, Naruto stand beside Luffy trying to get a better look. It really looks like a giant sea snake.

"They say it suddenly appears without warning, like a writhing dragon in the depths of the sea… It's a gigantic whirlpool…"

"A whirlpool underwater? Cool!" Both Naruto and Luffy said as their eyes suddenly filled with wonder and sparkled like jewels.

"Honestly, you guys! I left you alone for 10 minutes and this is the situation you manages to us put into?" Nami screeched frustratingly.

With everyone's horrified expressions with the exception of Luffy and Naruto, well Franky is his usual self same goes with Brook, their fish was finally sucked into the whirlpool and the next thing everyone remembers are chaos and a dizzy feeling as if the world is turning upside down.

"Whoa! This is awesome!" Luffy giggled and stretched his arms towards Sunny's figurehead to take the front seat for an exciting rollercoaster ride. "Everyone! Hang on to something!"

"Waaaah!"

"Aaaaaggghhhh!"

It was a few minutes but then the ship bump into something big. Naruto manages to take a quick look at everyone and gave a sigh of relief knowing that they're all safe albeit shaken.

Luffy laughed out the loudest as if he isn't affected at all. "Let's do that again!"

"Hell no! You idiot!" Usopp growled and threw something at Luffy, which the other alertly catches while grinning mischievously.

Seeing a group of island whales similar to the one Brook's former pirate crew adopted made the skeleton nostalgic. In remembrance of his friend, a song accompanied them to reach the top.

"Everyone! I can almost see the surface!" Usopp yelled excitedly.

"BUOOOOOHHHHHH!" The whales bellowed at the same time. What greets them was a terrible weather with lightning coming from the darkened sky with seas of fire.

"We're here! It's the New World!" Naruto heard someone yelled happily. The blonde kunoichi was about to comment when she felt a familiar presence from the same sea. It was faint but there's no doubt about it.

He's here.

She was about to call Luffy's attention when they heard their Den Den Mushi cry. And the rest, as they say, was history. Much to Nami, Usopp and Chopper's terrifying expressions. As per the rest of the Straw Hats point of view, a new adventure indeed.

Sort of.
