Chapter 12 – Coherence
From Brook's earlier explanation, the samurai from Wano country sounded like those from the Land of Iron's guardian military forces. Naruto does not know if they are related to one another but meeting one would determine if her world and this one are more connected than what she and Ace originally thought the day he came back from his two year absence.
Munching on Sanji's prepared snacks, Naruto stood beside Nami and watch the scouting party leave. As much as she wanted to come with them, Chopper prohibited her so she have no choice but to hang for a little while longer until she can escape and look for Ace.
Leaving a clone would be her only option. Well, before she can do that, Sanji's food is her first most priority. Ace can wait for a little while longer as her stomach cannot.
'I was not able to sense his Mera Mera powers… Is he in trouble again?' The blonde kunoichi thought worriedly and think of the worst possible scenarios. 'What if he's captured again?' Shaking her head dismissively as soon as the thought came up, she shrugged her shoulders and wiped her face with a tissue. Sanji, as reliable as ever, set up a table beside Nami's mikan trees for her to enjoy her meal. The navigator herself is busy as usual with her maps while the living skeleton, Soul King Brook, started composing a new song. The good doctor himself is on the swing reading some medicinal books the fishmen have given as a sign of their apology for not helping Luffy with the blood transfusion. Luffy doesn't seem to mind at all and joked at the merfolks continuously for being so melodramatic.
Without anyone noticing, Naruto wordlessly created a clone and left silently. She appeared near the observation deck and dons her Six Paths Sage Mode. With this cloak, she would be able to float around this fiery sea and look for Ace more accurately. 'If his ability is muted, then it means that he is captured by the marines…' Frowning, Naruto was about to jump over but then someone hold her hand.
"S-sanji-kun…" Naruto paled though unnoticeable because of her cloak and tried to make her excuse but the cook sighed and patted her gently in the head.
"You don't need to explain, Miss Naru… I saw the look you had earlier. Is your boyfriend…" Naruto could almost taste the bitter sound on the cook's voice and Sanji tried to clear his throat. "Is Luffy's brother in trouble again?"
"Well, you can say that," Shakily, Naruto laughed while scratching her head. When the cook placed something in front of her, the former jinchuriki turns to look at him questioningly.
"I've packed something for you as well knowing how you enjoyed the snacks I prepared earlier. This way, you won't get hungry in looking for that bastard, I mean that man…" Sanji chuckled at his slip but then he ignored it altogether as he saw Naruto's beaming smile. Controlling his blush, he waves his hand frivolously and turned around.
"I'll take care of your clone, make sure that Chopper doesn't suspect anything…" Sanji stilled when he felt Naruto's warm hug and a quick kiss on his cheeks.
"Thanks, Sanji. I owe you one…" Smiling widely, the young woman left with her lunchbox on one hand and floated over the sea.
After she left, blood sprouted from Sanji's nose that he wipes diligently with one of his sleeves and waves his goodbye. 'Just be careful, okay?'

Ace eyed the chains connected to the seastone cuffs on his wrists. Looks like they aren't made of the same material but the metal sure are durable.
Knowing that the Hunter will catch up to his brother in no time at all, he must hurry up as well and make his escape. He might miss his chance to follow them.
With a flip, he was able to stand without difficulty and with a few forceful tugs the chain broke. Looks like he can still use chakra. Smiling triumphantly, Ace turned to face his fellow captives and grabs their own chains.
"W-why a-are you helping u-us?" One of the pirates stammered fearfully.
"Well, I don't want to waste Luffy's efforts to free you. So that's why I will do what is needed…" Releasing these pirates may irritate the men in white but that's how pirates work. "Now, go on. Just make sure you stay out of trouble. Shoo!" Waving one hand in goodbye as the other pirates scampered away, Ace turned to see the direction where Smoker's group went.
Looks like they're in trouble especially when a sphere of blue aura surrounded one part of the island that reached the navy ship. Moments shortly, the ship move as if it was being lifted.
"Whoa! What the hell?" The marines who were tasked to guard the captives are starting to panic. Making his move, Ace tackled them all towards the cliff.
"Whew! That was close!" Grinning widely, Ace chuckled and gave the marines a victory sign as they landed safely on an even ground. But then, the spot where he stood started to crumble and he fell towards the sea. "Shoot. How unfortunate… Eeaarrgghh!"
The marines look at one another while sweatdropping concernedly.
"Should we be helping him?" One marine asks.
"He's a pirate. Why should we help him?" The other answered disturbingly.
Another one of them sighed and scratched his head. "He did save us moments ago. Remember?"
Silence ensued after the discussion. Even before they can move, a blur of black, orange and yellow ran passed them leaving everyone dumbstruck and rooted on their place.
"W-what was that?"
One of the marines took the initiative and took a step to look over the cliff where the pirate fell and whoever came to his rescue.
"Impossible?!"

As the famed pirate falls to his eminent death again (the first time, well, a hole in his chest was considered more brutal), Portgas D. Ace prayed to the heavens above for another chance in life.
He really can't leave these seas without seeing his brother fulfill his dreams of becoming the next Pirate King. He didn't even have the chance to tell Luffy that their other brother is still alive. He also cannot leave this world without telling Naruto how much he loved her.
And he still needs to apologize to her for eating all those ramen.
Descending further, Ace never even felt the other presence that suddenly reached him as he continues to ponder on those trivial things.
"We should really stop seeing each other like this…"
Ace widens his eyes and turned abruptly. After so many sleepless nights, he finally got the chance to see a pair of familiar blue eyes. His favorite set of cerulean blue.
"I swear that you are doing this on purpose. Didn't you… Ummph!" Stopping her tirade, Uzumaki Naruto was silenced by her beloved pirate's mouth against her own as they share a toe-curling kiss that is considered by the blonde's standards as passionate, heart melting and deliciously enticing.
"Bastard!" Naruto grumbled in response after their lips separated as Ace returned her comment with a very wide grin. Huffing annoyingly, she sensed the three-pronged kunai she left on top of the cliff where she first appeared earlier after she saw Ace's fall after he saved a group of marines. The blonde kunoichi and her pirate surprises everyone when they show up in a flash of yellow in their midst.
One of the marines standing right beside them falls on his behind. "W-who are you? H-how d-did you get here?"
"Aha! So you're the one holding my hat… I'll be taking it now, thanks." Ace patted the marine's head as he took his hat and placed it securely on his head. "By any chance, do you guys have the keys to my cuffs?"
"You let them handcuff you?" Naruto screeched and the surrounding marines paled when they felt her darkening aura. "With seastone?!"
"Well, it did make them feel better… and secure, somewhat." Ace noted and gave her an I'll-explain-everything-to-you-later look.
Puffing her cheeks, Naruto give the pirate the stink eye. Laughing sheepishly, Ace used the keys to remove the shackles binding his Devil Fruit powers. Sighing contently, he carried Naruto bridal style and disappears in blue flames reappearing on top of the highest part of the cliff overlooking the structure where the rest of the marines went into.
"The blue sphere's point of origin came from that direction. Looks like Smokey and the gang are in trouble…"
Crossing her arms, Naruto frowned when she also sensed the others from the same direction. "Nami and Chopper are inside the said sphere…" Eyes widening in horror, she turned around and looked at Ace worriedly. "What in the hell are they doing there? They should be in the ship waiting for Luffy and the others…"
"Let's go!" Ace said hastily and took her hand. Much to the bewilderment of the remaining marines eyeing them wearily, the two once again disappears in a flash of blue and yellow.

Meeting another new face, the Fire Fist frowned seeing the devastation of what transpired between a certain Shichibukai and the group of marines he took a liking into. He saw Smoker's fallen form as well as the pretty captain. But he can think of them later once everything is all settled down.
Reuniting with his little brother, Ace was utterly ecstatic. Of course, he did give Luffy his own version of their grandfather's 'Fist of Love' for dragging Naruto in all his crazy adventures.
However, meeting with the other Straw Hats took him by surprise when Nami hugged Naruto despairingly. At first, Ace thought that Naruto and the female members of Luffy's crew got really close during her stay. It was a little too late when he noticed something different especially when Nami gave him a not so desirable smirk.
A smirk he once saw from a certain blonde haired cook.
Ace's eyes twitched. Letting his flames surround his person, he was about to drag the said female away when Naruto turn her gaze towards him with a questioning look wondering as to why he is burning. Literally.
Nami in turn, gave him another wicked grin and hugged Naruto closer as she burrowed her face deeper in Naruto's bosom.
'Why you…'
"Waah! Sanji! Stop! Naruto does not know that you are in Nami's body!" Usopp yelled worriedly when he saw Ace starting to fume. From the corner of Ace's peripheral vision, he saw Franky starting to freak out as well.
"If my delicate skin got burned, I will charge you ten times your bounty, you stupid pervert!" Ace did not know if it was directed at him or Nami. As far as he knows, he is only interested in one female's alluring body. And an impostor is harassing the said female much to her obliviousness.
"Stop!" Sanji tried to pry Nami away from Naruto who in turn looks at everyone questioningly.
"Uh… What's going on?"
Robin covered her lips to muffle her laughter while Zoro grinned in anticipation waiting for the Whitebeard Commander to finally snap and grill that particular person. Luffy and Brook couldn't stop themselves from laughing their asses off.
"Seriously, you guys! It's not super!" Chopper commented sullenly as he crossed his arms in exasperation while watching their antics while the children they rescued earlier are watching them from behind.
Definitely not super.
