DOCTOR WHO
Medical Warfare
Pt 3
By
Z-King and Lord Primeval
The Doctor and Martha continued on their way through the corridor. Thankfully, no Sontarans spotted them along the way. Finally, Martha decided to break the silence.
"So how did you get here so fast?" asked Martha.
"What?" the Doctor said facing her.
"How did your ship get you here from Earth so fast?" Martha asked again.
"I was not on Earth when I came here," said the Doctor, now focusing his attention to inside an empty room. "I actually was on Dowton 7. They have the best Tea festival you could ever imagine. So many different types of Teas there, even some made out of meat. And ones actually made out of rock, which are not as bad as you might think, though I do prefer the Pyrovilian Stone Tea apposed to the others. Oh, and-"
"But I saw you on Earth before I was captured," interrupted Martha. The Doctor turned to face her.
"Martha, speaking as one who has lived for many years and is older then anything you might ever meet, I can assure you this….I have never seen you before in my life," said the Doctor as he continued to walk in front of her.
Martha just stared at him, shaking her head in anger.
"Well I've seen you before, unless you have a twin brother."
"Oh, don't be silly! I mean, I do have a brother but he wouldn't look like me. Of course, I remember when my uncle regenerated. He looked just like my old school teacher. And did you know that someone is following us?" Said the Doctor, causing Martha to quickly turn behind her only to see an empty hallway.
"I don't see anyone," said Martha.
"Trust me. Someone is following us," said the Doctor keeping his eyes straight.
"How would you know? Did you even turn around?" asked Martha.
"When you've been doing this as long as I have you tend to get the knack for these kind of things. Now keep walking, we don't want whoever it is to catch on," said the Doctor.
Martha caught up to the Doctor, not even looking behind her.
She went up next to him and whispered in his ear.
"Do you think it's a Sontaran?"
The Doctor shook his head. "I doubt it, if it was a Sontarrran it would be firing at us by now."
Suddenly, a bolt of green lighting stuck the left side of the wall. It just nearly missed them. The Doctor and Martha turned to face the source. They saw Blake, standing there with his left hand stretched out and his eyes glowing green.
"Blake!?" cried Martha in surprise.
"That's not a Sontarrran! Run!" shouted the Doctor, grabbing Martha's arms and running away from the shooter.
Meanwhile...
Back at the main command center one of the Sontranas monitoring the security cameras caught the chase.
"Sir! There are two humans running free in the halls!" shouted the Sontran.
Commander Scorve turned to his subordinate and said "Show it on screen!"
The Sontran did as he commanded and transferred the video to the main screen. It showed the Doctor and Martha running for their lives as Alex chased after them, firing bolt after bolt of lighining.
"Freeze that image!" shouted Scorve as he looked at the still image of Alex.
"Move the image closer to that human!" He commanded.
The screen moved closer to Blake's face. To the shock of all the Sontrans in the room Blake's eye where emitting a green aura.
"That human is a Rutan!" Shouted one of the Sontrans.
"But how can that be?" shouted another.
"Wait!" shouted Scorve, silencing the rest. "Now let me see the image of the two humans."
The image was rewound, showing the Doctor and Martha again.
Scorve studied the image, recognizing one of the humans. The female was the one selected to be brought, here but the other he had not seen before. And yet, he seemed familiar.
"Run the male's image through our database at once!" shouted Scorve.
Soon, the video image was replaced by the image of the Doctor's face and several other images where rapidly moving next to it. The cycle stopped to show five new images.
While the first image showed the old man in the video, the others showed of three different looking men. One image shows a white haired man with a rather big nose, another showed a brown haired man wearing a hat and giving out a big grin, the third showed a young man with blonde hair, and the last showed a blonde man wearing a coat with all sorts of different colors. The bottom of the screen revealed a single word: The Doctor.
"It's the Doctor!" shouted Scorve.
The whole room was in an uproar.
"The Doctor and a Rutan in the base!"
"Are they in league with each other?!"
"How did they get in here?!"
"Maybe the Humans we brought here are Rutans too!"
"They must all die!"
"SILINCE!" their leader roared.
Everyone stopped talking as they all turned to Brigadier General Scarg as he watched the image.
"Were are they now?" Scarg asked the Sontran at the monitor.
"They are still being pursued by the Rutan scum, General," said the Sontaran.
Commander Scorve walked up to the Brigadier.
"What shall we do General?" he asked.
Scarg turned to face Scorve and said "The Rutan must be a spy, it must not know about the machine. Order all Sontrans to find that Rutan and kill it!"
"Yes sir. But what about the Doctor and the human he's with?" said Scorve.
"The Doctor must be brought to me alive for questioning," Scrag answered, "the human female is not important."
"But what if the other humans are Rutans in disguise too?" Scorve asked, "Should we not destroy them as well?"
"No. But I want a guard to keep watch over them. They must not leave. Understand?!"
Scorve saluted, "Understood General!"
He walked up to a panel and pushed a button that activated the speakers.
"Attention all warriors of the Sontaran Empire. The Doctor and a Rutan disguised as a human male are wandering in the halls. They must be found at all cost. All the other Humans are to remain in their chambers at once and are not to leave under any circumstance. Your orders are to kill the Rutan and bring the Doctor to the Brigadier General alive!"
As Commander Scorve repeated his order, Genreal Scarg looked at the image of the Doctor clenching his left fist in rage.
Meanwhile...
As this was going on, the rest of the captured humans where locked up in a room with six beds and nothing else.
Ade was sitting on the bed next to Doctor Lance, who was twiddling his thumbs as Alex was walking back and forth impatiently. Suki was writing down all the Sontaran information on her pocket sized notebook.
"Arrg! What is going on around here?!" said Alex, grabbing his head. " First we get taken by potato men, then two of us go missing, then we get an announcement that there is an intruder on the loose, and all we get for an answer from those freaks is 'Stay inside or be shot on sight?' Don't we deserve answers? We're the ones keeping them alive for Christ's sake!"
Ade shushed him, whispering, "And one of those potato headed freaks is outside our doors, with a gun ready to shoot us."
"She's right Alex," said Doctor Lance. "But don't worry, I'm sure they will bring Martha and Blake back to us soon."
"Didn't you hear them?! They said that Blake is a Root-man or whatever, and for all I know they might think Martha is one too. We have to do something!" said Alex.
"What can we do against the Sontranas? They have no weakness," said Ade in despair.
"No there not."
Everyone turned to face Suki still writing.
"What do you mean?" asked Blake.
Suki sighed and closed her notebook. She pointed to the back of her neck with her pen.
Doctor Lance then snapped his fingers in realization. "Of course, the Probic vent!"
Ade smiled "That's right, it's their most vulnerable spot in their body."
Blake then faced the others "Okay guys let's think of a plan."
Meanwhile, The Doctor and Martha were still running for their lives from the Rutan Blake.
"Is he still behind us?" said the Doctor.
"What happened to that experience you were talking about?" sassed Martha.
"It's been a long time since I've been chased!" said The Doctor. He turned around to see that he was still behind them, but no longer launching his ranged attack.
"It's probably saving it's energy, but why is it giving away it's position? It should know that Sontarans have found out about it's presence by now," thought the Doctor.
"Um Doctor, we've got a problem," said Martha, slowing down.
The Doctor faced forward to find a wall. They had reached the dead end of the hallway.
"Well a dead end this has never happened to me before, or maybe it has," said the Doctor rubbing his chin.
Martha turned around and her eyes widened in fear. "And another problem."
The Doctor turned and saw Blake standing there, blocking the entrance.
"Ah Hello there, do you mind if I ask you some questions?" asked the Doctor.
The human Rutan said nothing as he started to walk towards the two slowly.
"Blake, what's happened to you? Why are you trying to kill us?" asked Martha.
"Martha, that man there is not Blake anymore, it's a Rutan," said the Doctor, trying to pull her back towards him.
"A Rutan? But aren't they suppose to look like big green jellyfish?" said Martha then she gasped. "Wait, how did I know that?"
"I'll explain latter," said the Doctor. "Now listen to me, whatever your mission here is, I'm just here to get the Humans back home. That is all I'm doing."
"Sorry Doctor, but we cannot let you do that," spoke Blake/Rutan. "The humans are needed, you are not. If you hadn't shown up, the female might have been spared. Instead, you will die for the glory of the-"
BLAST!
The Doctor and Martha quickly covered their faces after a blinding light came from behind Blake/Rutan. When they uncovered their faces, they saw that the upper form of the human-formed Rutan blown apart, with pieces of green flesh splattered on both sides of the walls.
Martha covered her mouth in shock and disgust while the Doctor shifted his focus behind the dead body. The silhouette showed a Sontaran holding a large blaster. Martha recognized it.
"Strax?" she said.
The Sontaran stepped forward.
"Martha Jones?" said Strax. He noticed the Doctor and raised his weapon towards him.
"Aha! Doctor I have found you! You are now my prisoner!" shouted Strax in excitement.
The Doctor sighed and raised his arm in a bored fashion. "Yes, yes I know how this goes: 'raise your hands up,' 'what are you doing here,' ' follow me,' and 'I will take you to our leader.' Am I right?"
There was silence in the hall for at least six seconds.
"I…was not about to ask you those questions." Strax said.
"No?" asked the Doctor, raising an eyebrow.
"No!" said Strax.
"Is that weapon new?" asked the Doctor, now looking at the weapon Strax was holding.
Strax moved closer to the Doctor, pining him up against the wall with the blaster.
"Yes Doctor, this weapon was made by studying weapons from the Cybermen and the Daleks! Still in beta testing, but it made good work with the Rutan scum and it might work good on you," smiled Strax itching to pull the trigger.
"Strax no!" shouted Marth, pushing the gun away and standing between the two.
"Out of the way Martha Jones, The Doctor is the enemy of the Sontarans he must die!" shouted Strax. "He will pay for denying us entry into the Great Time War!"
"The what?" The Doctor said, genuinley curious.
Martha had to think quick. She had a thought.
"But didn't you hear your superior?" she said, "He said, 'the Doctor must not be harmed!' Any of that ring a bell?"
"Why would that cause a bell to ring?" Strax said. "Is it a Psychic bell?"
"It means 'do you remember?'" said Martha, in the same fashion a mother would explain to a child.
The Doctor hoped her plan would work, because for a moment the Doctor could hear some machinery behind the wall he was pinned against. If that Sontaran fired, that mechanism might explode, killing more than just the Time Lord.
Strax let out a groan and lowered his weapon from the Doctor.
"Once more, you are right," said Strax. Martha checked the Doctor to see if he was okay. This only for a minute, as they froze when Strax raised the weapon again.
"Doctor, by the authority of the Sontaran Empire you are to come with me at once!" He barked.
Strax then used his other hand and lifted it to his face. He spoke into the communicator that was attached to his arm.
"Command, this is Commander Strax reporting in. I have successfully destroyed the Rutan scum and have captured the Doctor and Martha Jones. I'm taking them to the Brigadier General now." Strax said, then lowered his arm and marched ahead.
The Doctor and Martha just stood there, watching him leave without them. About halfay down the hall, Strax realized this and ran back to them.
"Ah, doing a Time Lord trick Doctor? Well it won't work on me!" Shouted Strax. "Now march ahead at once and follow my directions!"
The Doctor and Martha did what he said and moved ahead. The Doctor turned to Martha and asked. "Say, have the Sontarrrans gotten dumber?"
Martha sighed "Nope. Just him I guess."
"Martha Jones, do not talk about my intelligence with the Doctor!…it is...embarrassing," said Strax looking down.
The Doctor looked back at Strax, then looked ahead and whispered to himself."Hmm, they've gotten smaller and dumber. And here I was worried."
Meanwhile...
In another hallway, a lone Sontaran stood guard in front of the Human's Chamber, waiting for anything he could shoot at. He heard a noise from the other side of the door.
"Help! A Rutan is in here with us!" shouted Alex.
The Sontran smiled. A Rutan, finally he would see action! He grabbed his weapon and opened the door. He ran inside. But as he entered, he could not see the Rutan. All he saw was three , wasn't there four humans in here?
But before the Sontaran could speak, something sharp hit his probic vent. He fell to the ground unconscious. His attacker, Alex, stood there holding one of Suki's high heel shoes.
Quickl,y Doctor Lance with Ade's help picked up the Sontaran's weapon while Alex gave Suki back her shoe.
"I cant believe it actually worked," Blake said.
"Well, as we now know these Sontarans will do anything if it means they can kill a Rutan," Smiled Suki.
Doctor Lance then gave the gun to Alex.
"Okay guys, let's go save our friends," said Alex acting heroic.
Everyone paused.
"That was a bit weak Alex," said Ade.
Alex just shrugged it off and together they left the room, with a new weapon in hand.
Meanwhile, Strax lead the Doctor and Martha to a metallic black door with a red star.
"I'm guessing this is where the commander is, right?" said the Doctor, not impressed.
While Martha tried acting brave she was sweating up a storm. The Doctor noticed this and patted her shoulder in assurance.
Strax moved up to the door with his gun still pointing at the Doctor and Martha. With his free hand placed on the star, he activated the opening sequence, causing the doors to open.
The room was filled with an assortment of blasters and melee weapons, including dueling swords. Standing in the middle of the room was Brigadier General Scarg.
"General," said Strax saluting. "I have brought the Doctor as you have ordered."
The General walked up to Strax. He turned his helmet to look at The Doctor and Martha, then back at Strax.
To Martha's shock The General punched Strax in the face.
"I ordered you to bring the Doctor! Not the female!" shouted Scarg.
Strax slowly got up and faced Scarg.
"Forgive me General," Strax begged, "but-"
Then Scarg punched him in the stomach.
"We gave you orders time and time again. Perhaps you are a failed clone!" shouted Scarg, kicking Strax to the ground. "And you know what happens to failed clones, Strax."
Scarg pulled one of the blasters from the wall, pointing at Strax.
"No!" shouted Martha.
She rushed in, standing between the two Sontarans.
"He is one of your loyal soldiers and this is how you treat him?" She yelled. "He just completed you command better than your other troops. He brought you The Doctor just as you asked!"
Scarg pulled back, raising his weapon to Martha.
"You are not needed anymore," spoke Scarg.
Martha wanted to move but was too scared.
The Doctor raised his umbrella and used the question mark end to pull the gun away from Martha. They were at a standstill.
Martha breathed a sigh of relief, then flinched a little when she looked at the Doctor's face. Just looking at his eyes is like looking at the eye of a storm.
The Doctor and Scarg did not move from their positions, like they are studying each other, waiting for the next move.
Martha went down to check on Strax while the Doctor finally spoke to Scarg in a calm voice.
"Tell me, when is a Sontarrran not a Sontarran?"
Nobody moved except of Strax, who was slowly coming up only for Martha to tell him to lay back down. The Doctor quickly used his umbrella to pull the gun away from Scarg grasp.
"I'll say it again," boast the Doctor. "When is a Sontarran not a Sontarran?...Answer: When it is a Rrrutan!"
The room was silent and all eyes stared at the Brigadier General. Scarg slowly moved his hands to his helmet and removed it.
Martha and Strax eyes widened while the Doctor just looked at Scarg. His face appears to be a Sontaran, with a few scars around the upper parts of the face. But the thing that caused such shock is that his eyes where bright green.
"How did you know?' spoke Scarg in a clam voice.
The Doctor smiled. "Well I have a great clarity of insight. Also you said we to Strrax back there. The correct term is I"
Strax stood on one knee and glared at Scarg. "How dare you take the form of a Sontaran general you miserable sack of-"
But before Scarg/Rutan could silence Strax with a kick The Doctor stood between them.
"Oh now, lets try to act like grrrown-ups here shall we?' said the Doctor in an annoyed tone. He was casually leaning on his umbrella like a cane.
Strax tried to get up and attack the Sontaran formed Rutan, but he grabbed his sides in pain while Martha tried to help him up.
"Now, let me try to guess what you are planning here shall I?" asked the Doctor casually. "Somehow during one of your battles you managed to kill the Brigadier General and take his form. Then you convince the Sontaran armada to capture life forms who have any medical skills, have other Rutan agents disguise as germs or infections inside a Sontaran body, then kill the doctors operating on the body take their form, then one by one replace every Sontaran here with other Rutans in disguise."
While the Doctor was talking Martha was looking at Scarg/Rutan to see what he would do.
"So," said the Doctor. "How much did I get right?"
Clap, Clap, Clap.
The room was filled with the sounds of Scarg/Rutan's clapping his hands.
"Bravo, Doctor you have guessed half of our plan," said Scarg/Rutan with a smile.
"Half?" said the Doctor narrowing his eyes.
"What do you mean half?" asked Martha still attending Strax.
Scarg/Rutan ignored her and focused on the Doctor.
"Tell me Doctor, do you remember when the Sontarans invaded Gallifrey?" he asked.
The Doctor rubbed his head with his umbrella. "Hmm, that part is a little fuzzy, but I think so."
Scarg/Rutan smiled. "Well, after that event our empire was struck with an idea. We thought that perhaps if the Sontranas invaded other worlds, the species those worlds would become allies of the Rutan hosts."
The Doctor shook his head at what Scarg/Rutan said.
"Don't be a fool. No species in their right minds would be a part of this war of yours."
"On the contrary, Doctor," said Scarg/Rutan. "Should a Sontaran solider publicly murder a world leader, hundreds of civilians, hospitals, or a nursery for the glory of the Sontaran empire, then.."
"Then the Sontarans would been seen as the greatest threat in the universe," Said the Doctor, finishing the Rutan's words. "Those governments would be given a reason to join forces with the only enemy that matches them."
Scarg/Rutan nodded in agreement.
"Imagine it, Doctor; The Draconians, the Undovi, the Krillatanes, Judoon, Adipose, Kefri, Sycorax, all those powerful races with a fear and hatred for one enemy. The Sontarans will be out matched and out gunned. And the Sontaran scum are none the wiser."
"You dare disgrace the honor of the Sontarans?!" said Strax in anger, now fully standing up. "I will not allow this!"
Strax charged at Scarg/Rutan, only for a green bolt to push him out of the room.
"Strax!" shouted Martha. But she did not move as the Rutan/Sontaran gazed at her, only for the Doctor to stand beside her.
"So that is the real reason why you capture these people then?" asked the Doctor.
"That and other reasons," said Scarg/Rutan.
"What reason?" asked Martha curious.
"That does not matter now," said the Doctor. "Because this plan ends now."
"Don't you see Doctor?" said Scarg/Rutan. "This is the only way for the war to end! You know how long The Rutan host and the Sontarans have been at war? Our scientists have estimated that if the fight continues for another century both races will face extinction."
"Well perhaps if you both spent time on peace talks rrrather then plans of assassinations and battle strategies you wouldn't have that problem, would you?" said the Doctor, slowly pushing Martha behind him.
"You know as well as we do that the Sontarans don't have the word 'peace' in their vocabulary." The Rutan remarked.
"Have you ever tired?" Martha said out loud. "Have you ever put more effort into it?"
The Doctor looked at Martha with an impressed face. But the Rutan/Sontaran ignored her once again.
"Tell us Doctor, must we face the same fate as other races who died in long blooded wars? Must we face the same fate as the Kaleds?"
Martha saw The Doctor tighten his grip on his umbrella at the mention of that word.
"This is the only way, Doctor," The Rutan continued. "This will end the war. No longer will our children fear the onslaught of battle."
"And also perhaps end the Sontarrran race. Either way you replace the genocide of two races with only one," said the Doctor in disgust.
"It is not a perfect plan, but answer us this Doctor; how many plans have you made that caused the death of others?" said the Rutan causing the Doctor to lower his head.
"This is the only way to end this war," The Rutan repeated. "So we ask you Doctor, will you stop us now from ending the long war once and for all?"
The room was silent and both eyes stared at the Doctor, waiting for an answer.
Then finall, The Doctor raised his head up. With his eyes narrowed he said.
"No."
To be continued...
A/N. Wow, that took way longer then I expected and hopefully the finally chapter to this wont take as long . Also, when I do start the 6th Doctor and Donna Noble story how should I do it should I make sorta like Donna's first appearance or something completely different? Tell me what you think by either putting it in a review or PM.
