DOCTOR WHO
The Second Hour
Part 2
By.
Z-King.
"Now don't make any sudden moves," said the Doctor.
Though Amy couldn't even if she wanted to, all she could do was stare up in a mix of shock and terror of this creature in a room she had not seen before.
The Vortsaur looked at the pair and slowly started to walk towards them carefully.
Amy looked back at the Doctor and saw him messing with his pockets.
"Doctor what are you doing?" she whispered, "You said no sudden moves."
"I'm trying to find my recorder," he whispered.
"What?"
"In my youth my classmates and I used to ride Vortisaurs back in the academy."
The Vortisaur moved closer to them causing the two to move backwards slowly.
"And what kind of academy? Dino-school?!" said Amy.
"If I can find my recorder I could play it a calm song to put it to sleep, but I can't find it."
As soon as they where out of the room the Vortisaur pushed it's way out of the door and started to roar at them loudly.
Amy then ran towards the bedroom.
"No. Don't move!" shouted the Doctor.
But the Vortisaur stood up and was about to charge at the Doctor.
"Doctor!"
The Doctor turned around and saw Amy holding a recorder.
"Catch!"
She threw the instrument at him and he caught it, then he paused as he looked at it.
"Wait, this is my recorder. How did you-?"
The Vortisaurs roared and was about to lunge.
"Just shut up and play Hobo-man!" Amy shouted.
Quickly the Doctor did what she said and played a tune to what Amy could recognize sounded like the Christmas song 'God Rest You Merry Gentlemen.'
The Vortisaur stopped its lunge as it listened to the Doctor play.
Amy watched with shock as the Doctor moved back and forth with the Vortisaur copying him. It was like a snake charmer for Dinosaurs.
The Doctor walked towards it as the Vortisaur walked backwards k into the room as its eyelids where fighting to stay open.
Then the Doctor, still playing, moved down as the creature once again copied his move. As the music started to get softer and the creature placed its head down and fell fast asleep.
The Doctor kept playing as he walked carefully out the door and closed it.
Amy was about to talk but the Doctor quickly shushed her and pointed outside.
Amy watched as the Doctor carefully walked down the stairs as quietly as he could. Amy looked back at the door that she had never seen before holding inside a Dinosaur that nearly tried to take a bite out of the Doctor…. she followed him down too.
Finally they made it outside.
"Now where did you get this?" the Doctor said holding his recorder.
"Your flute? You left it here remember? and speaking of which-"
"That crack must have some connections to the vortexes. Otherwise, how would a Voltisaur came out of it? How strange," The Doctor said.
"Hey, are you listening to me?"
"I could check the systems on the TARDIS and…Oh dear I forgot she is in repairs!"
"Doctor, listen to me!"
"Oh wait, maybe the TARDIS is nearly fixed. I should go check and-"
CLICK!
The Doctor stopped and noticed he was handcuffed to Amy.
"Umm… why did you cuff me?"
"Okay you listen and listen good; you are not going anywhere until you answer my questions right here, right now!" said Amy grinding her teeth.
"Please! I don't have time to-"
"Well make time! You said you're a Time Lord right?"
The Doctor put his free hand on his cheek.
"Oh dear. Seems I told you a lot didn't I?" The Doctor sighed. "To put it simple; you've met me but I have not met you yet, do you understand?"
"What?" said Amy looking confused.
"Oh well how about this then? It is a sort of wibbly-wobbly….no no that is too silly. Oh wait! Here we go, your past is my future. Understand?"
"Ok… I think I understand," said Amy.
"Really?"
"NO!"
"Well there is no need to shout," said the Doctor covering his ears.
"Seeing as I now have a Dinosaur in a room I never even knew I had, I think I'm entitled to shout," said Amy in anger.
"Yes but please Amelia, I can call you Amelia can I?"
"No. I thought I made it clear: just Amy! Now how about that crack that was still in my house? You told me you got rid of it and the voices-"
"Please don't tell me anymore!" the Doctor said covering his ears.
Amy looked at him oddly.
"What are you talking about? You where there."
"That is what I was trying to tell you, your past is my future. The only reason why I don't remember you is because we have not met yet."
Amy continued to look at him oddly, "You realize everything you said makes no sense to me."
Beep, Beep, Beep.
The Doctor quickly, with his free hand, pulled out the tracker as soon as he heard the first beep.
"It's your tracker!" said Amy "Is it that crack again?"
"No, it seems to be detecting another one somewhere far away from here," spoke the Doctor in worry. "Another crack in space-time. How very worrying. With the one I saw releasing a Vortisaur it could be a gateway for many creatures of the vortex to come out."
"Oh dear," said the Doctor, then he looked at Amy.
"Please listen. I know your confused and as I promise I can try to better explain this, but right now I have an important mission to do and I need you to un-cuff us."
"Oh no! You're not getting away this time! Wherever you go, I go," she said, and add to that by pulling her cuffed arm attached to the Doctor.
The Doctor was about to say something but with the sound of the tracker and the worry of what else could come out of these cracks (or who might go in them) he knew he had no choice.
"Oh very well. Besides, it might help to have someone on the force with me."
"What? Oh yeah right," said Amy not looking at the Doctor in the eye.
After that Amy felt a sharp pull as she was dragged along with the Doctor who kept his eye on the tracker.
Both of them soon managed to find themselves nearing the town, neither one speaking to the other.
The Doctor kept his eyes on the tracker but his thoughts turned to the young woman shackled to him. Whatever he did sure made a big impression on her.
While the Doctor was multitasking Amy was thinking on what the Doctor said. (well what she thought he was trying to say about the whole 'I have not meet you yet' or something)
The Doctor stopped in his tracks.
"You found a trace?" said Amy.
"It seems I can traces lead to inside…that house," said the Doctor pointing to a house.
"Wait, not that-"
But it was to late as the Doctor pulled her along towards the house.
Before Amy could speak The Doctor knocked on the door and an old woman answered the door.
"Good evening madam! We're with the police, we are just…looking over the house in case any criminals might-"
"Oh, hello dear," said the old woman to Amy.
Amy waved.
"Hello Mrs. Angelo."
The Doctor blinked in confusion at this and continued as Mrs. Angelo invited them inside.
"You're a police woman now? I thought you where a nurse… or was that a nun?"
An awkward pause filled the room, as the Doctor looked at Amy.
"Well…I dabble," she said.
Before the Doctor could say anything else the old woman looked at him again.
"Haven't I seen you before?" Mrs. Angelo asked.
"Oh I should not think so madam now I need to ask you a simple question-"
Then the door opened and a young man came in the house.
"Nan, I'm home and-" The man looked at the two people with his grandmother.
"Hey Amy! What are you doing here and why are you handcuffed to…hey are you the Doctor?" he said pointing at him.
The Doctor looked surprised at this.
"Oh now I know where I've seen you before. You're Amy's Little Hobo-Doctor that she used to draw about when she was a little girl," said Mrs. Angelo.
"It seems you made me quite popular Amelia," smiled the Doctor.
"Amy!" she growled.
"It really is The Doctor, and here I thought you really where crazy," said the man.
"Shut up, Jeff," said Amy feeling embarrassed.
BEEEP! BEEEP BEEEP!
The tracker started to get louder, everyone winched at the sound it was making. Like hearing two alarm clocks going off at the same time.
"It must be really close," said the Doctor moving to the kitchen, dragging Amy behind him.
But by the time they reached the kitchen the crack was there for a second and then it was gone.
"Oh no! Missed it again!" said the Doctor.
"Okay so where is the Volti-whatever? I don't see it," said Amy looking around.
"A Vortisaur is not the only creature in the Time Vortex Amelia."
"AMY!"
"Oh but Amelia is such a wonderful name."
"Doctor, the point!"
"Is something wrong in the kitchen?" asked Mrs. Angelo.
"Uh Nan, wasn't the toaster on counter?" asked Jeff.
Before Mrs. Angelo could respond, a piece of toast was launched at the Doctor's face.
Everyone looked at the Toaster and to the group's shock it started to jump up and down like it was alive.
"Oh my lord," cried Mrs. Angelo in alarm.
"Doctor what's going on?" asked Amy dodging a piece of toast thrown at her by the now living Toaster.
"Oh dear, I think it is an Anima," said the Doctor trying to see if he could catch the hopping Toaster.
"What?! That's a Toaster," said Amy ducking as the Toaster jumped over her head and hopped into the living room.
"An Anima is a non-corporeal being that takes over inanimate objects and brings them to life," said the Doctor as they followed it back in the living room.
There they found the Toaster on its side not moving.
"It stopped?" asked Jeff.
They heard the sound of a car engine starting.
"Oh my giddy aunt," said the Doctor.
They all rushed to the door and saw a silver car ride off with no one inside.
"MY CAR!" shouted Jeff trying to chase after it, while Mrs. Angelo sat down to process what she just saw.
"And now it's in a car? How is it in a car?!" said Amy.
"It's like I said, it takes over inanimate objects. It starts off with small things, but the more weird energy it feeds off of the larger the objects it can take over."
"Weird what?" said Amy.
"Weird energy is a physic energy from a person that finds the impossibility of an inanimate object becoming alive," explained the Doctor.
"That doesn't make any sense!" said Amy.
"Well nether does anything right now," said the Doctor. "These cracks appearing across the universe through space and time, that is why I'm here; to find out about this!"
BEEEP BEEEP BEEEEP!
The tracker started up again, but this time The Doctor did not have time to check because a crack suddenly appeared beside the wall of the house next door.
The Doctor and Amy slowly walked up to this crack.
"Ah, so this is the problem then," The Doctor spoke in wonder over the strange sight while Amy looked scared.
"Tell me, does this look like the one that was in your bedroom?"
Amy noded in response, never taking her eyes of it. The Doctor tried to move forward to scan it with the tracker, but was pulled back by Amy thanks to the handcuffs.
"Doctor don't touch it!" she said in fear.
"Amelia, I need to scan it so I can find the source," said the Doctor.
"But you told me if any one gets near it they will be gone for good!"
"Seems I have told you a lot, good girl. Bbut you have to trust me and-"
"Trust you? That's what you said to me years ago? You said 'trust me I'll be back in 2 seconds' and you never did!"
Then after that the crack vanished.
Amy sighed a relief but she noticed two creatures sticking to the wall.
There appearance looked liked slugs but they where the size of a small child and their color is a universal type.
"Doctor what are-?"
"Chrono Slugs," said the Doctor. "They are just like regular Earth slugs but their slime can cause any thing it touches to either decay or get younger."
"Which one of those slugs does that?" asked Amy.
As soon as she said that, the Chrono Slugs started to move up the wall and the slime started to turn the white paint into dead wood, causing it to decay and crumble slightly.
"I believe we have our answer. Does anyone live there?" said the Doctor.
Then the tracker started to Beep more loudly until it buzzed and shut down.
"Oh that is not good! The tracker has overheated," said the Doctor.
"Which means what?" asked Amy.
"It means that there are more traces of these impossible cracks than I thought. Come on, we have to go back to the TARDIS and hope it's been repaired and fix the tracker, or better yet alert the Time Lords."
Meanwhile….
Jeff continued to chase after his possessed car, which was too far out of his sight, he stopped to take a breath when he heard a noise.
OHOOAAAAHHHARRRAROOOOOOO.
Jeff stood up straight as soon as he heard this cry.
The sounds of whatever was causing it sounded so sad, so needing for help. It caused him to tear up and ran as fast as he could towards the sound.
Jeff soon came to a lane where he heard the sound, but when he got there all he saw was the wrecked remains of his car. A closer look at the wreck showed that it was grabbed and slammed into the side of a house.
But what could have done that?
The Doctor and Amy continued walking but carefully watching for any signs of other inhabitants from the Time Vortex.
The Doctor eyed Amy for a moment until she looked back at him.
"What?" said Amy annoyed.
"Oh nothing at all….you did seem to be afraid, you know."
"Of course I was not afraid," snapped Amy.
"I understand. Please don't shout at me," said the Doctor smiling, but then it turned into a sad expression.
"I am sorry for leaving you…well will leave in twelve years time. I must have had a good reason for it."
"Yeah well try telling that to the four physiatrist I had in those twelve years."
"You had FOUR physiatrists?!" said the Doctor in surprise.
Amy tightened her mouth a little and pushed her lips back until she spoke "I kept biting them."
"Why?"
"They said you weren't real."
"Ah, well this is one of the many things I try to avoid on my travels," said the Doctor.
"The one thing I try not to be is popular, after all the more people know about you and the things you do they might want to expect more of you. In other words, you don't want to be chased by a fan group," said Amy.
"Hmm, fan groups? You think I'm that popular?" said the Doctor.
"Loose the bow-tie and then will talk," chuckled Amy.
The Doctor chuckled along with her, putting a more positive feel around them.
"So, if I may ask you're not really a Police woman are you?" asked the Doctor.
"No I'm not," said Amy. She paused for a moment before she continued almost looking embarrassed.
"I'm a Kiss-a-gram."
"Oh is that right, wonderful," smiled the Doctor. "What is a kiss-a-gram?
"Well, I go to parties and….kiss people."
The Doctor looked at her, continuing with his smile but as he thought of what she said the smile faded and the Doctor's face looked a little disturbed.
"Oh dear," The Doctor said, using his cuffed hand to pull on his coat.
"Just so you know I only kiss people, that is all," said Amy blushing.
"Why the handcuffs then?"
Amy paused and looked down at the cuffs still attached to their arms.
"Umm… oh look we're near my house!" she said as they indeed nearly reached their destination.
But as they got near they noticed a woman in front of the TARDIS.
"Who is that Amelia?" said the Doctor.
"I don't know," Amy said, not noticing The Doctor said Amelia again.
The woman turned around to face the two showing her full appearance. She was a tall woman around Amy's height and age. She was bald and decorated with tattoos with alien language. her eyes looked human but the iris wasn't circuler, it was shaped like an x and her attire looked like a cross between a swords-woman and jump suit.
One look and you would think she was a human, but with the sun shinning The Doctor and Amy saw that her skin was a mix of silver and crimson. She didn't wear shoes due to both her feet and hands having sharp claws on them.
"Doctor is she another creature from the Time Vortex or something?" asked Amy looking at the claws nervously.
The Doctor also noticed the claws rubbed his hands together nervously "Perhaps, she might be friendly."
The woman then reached out with her left hand behind her back and pulled out a jagged sword and pointed at them.
"Or maybe not," The Doctor gulped.
"I've been expecting you Doctor," The alien woman spoke showing her sharp teeth.
"She seems to know you," said Amy.
"Well I've never meet her," said the Doctor, "Oh dear it seems to be my day."
"Ah, I always wanted to know which one of you first meet me," The woman smiled wickedly.
"I never meet you," said Amy.
"I'm not talking about you Pond, I care not for the Doctor and his many pets," she scoffed at Amy.
"PET?!" shouted Amy she was about to charge at her but the Doctor pulled her back.
The Alien woman laughed, "I suppose I should introduce myself to you. Remember my name for it will be the name you or anyone else will never forget. I AM ZODIN!"
She pushed a button on the bottom of the sword and fire started to come out of the hilt and surrounded the blade.
"The Terrible Zodin."
The Doctor was nervous as he saw the sword light up, but Amy was just dumbfounded over Zodin's introduction.
"The Terrible Zodin.' Really? That is what you're calling yourself?"
"Amelia please, lets not make fun of the woman with the flaming sword," said the Doctor.
"Only when you start calling me Amy and not Amelia."
"SILANCE!" shouted Zodin, "I knew sooner or later you would come here; all I had to do was wait."
"So I take it you're somehow responsible for the cracks in time?" asked The Doctor.
"I did not create them, but I am involved with those who are responsible."
"Who are they? Why are they doing this?" The Doctor asked but Zodin just smiled.
"Oh Doctor why would I give it away? After all your suppose to be the clever one."
"But don't you see the dangers that you're letting happen? The cracks are not only letting creatures from the vortex out but you are also causing strains in Time-Space! Who knows what could happen if this continues!"
"Please," The Doctor pleaded, "Whatever problems you have with me, this town does not have to suffer-"
Zodin's laughter cut the Doctor's speech.
"My problems started with you long ago. True it was not in that face but it was still you nonetheless. I swore that I would make you pay for everything you've put me though!"
Zodin smiled again and put a hand by her ear.
"And if you listen closely you can hear the sounds of your doom."
OHOOAAAAHHHARRRAROOOOOOO.
The Doctor pailed instantly at the sound. It was a sound that he heard only in recordings at the academy, a sound he had hoped he never had to hear.
Amy heard it as well, she listen to the sound. It felt so sad. She felt tears twinkling down her face.
"Doctor what's-?"
"Amy, we have to run."
Amy looked at the Doctor, he showed one tear coming down but his face looked more worried than sad.
"But the sound Doctor, it so sad. Maybe she hurt someone! We should go and-"
"AMY NO!" The Doctor shouted as he grabbed her face and forced her to look at him.
OHOOAAAAHHHARRRAROOOOOOO.
"Amy listen to me; that sound you're hearing is something we must never go near if you are near anything that relates to the Time Vortex."
"Your too late Doctor, it is here," smiled Zodin.
The Doctor and Amy turned fast and saw a single eye floating around the corner of the house.
The eye was surrounded by three spikes on either sides of it.
Soon the creature moved showing its full body.
The creature's body was horizontal in shape, it skin color was light green. Attached to the eye was a long flexible neck, it's arms where long as a humans but showing three claws. It had two-toed feet attached to a leg that shared similarities with a T-Rex. It's tail was so long that it could wrap around itself once. At it's tip was a sharp blade and on it's back a bone colored plate that looked like a closed mouth, sharing the same color as the spikes around it's eye and claws.
The Creature gazed mainly at the Doctor as well as taking glances at the TARDIS but mainly at the Doctor as it started to slowly take step closely at the pair as it let out another moan.
OHOOAAAAHHHARRRAROOOOOOO.
The Doctor tried to move but due to Amy not moving thanks to the sad hypnotic cries of the creature and the fact that Zodin now stood behind the pair waving her flaming blade at them.
"You know what that is Doctor, don't you?" Zodin mocked, "It was a pain trying to fish this creature out, but it was worth it. Now you and your companion will fall prey to the cries of one of the most deadliest creatures of the Vortex…The Crying Beast."
The Crying Beast raised itself up and waved it's bladed tail and let out another cry as it's reptile-like eye gazed at the trembling form of the Doctor.
To be concluded…
Author's Note
Well that took way longer then expected (I am sounding like a broken record here) but it was worth it I believe. Plus with the shocking good that is season 10 of Doctor Who (seriously where was this from the start Moffat) and the announcement of the first female Doctor (Well main stream that is) it really got me in the Who mood and hopefully I can be done with this What if Doctor who before the Christmas special.
