Ps. This takes place after The Invasion of Time
"I was strolling through the park one day." The Doctor singed as he checked the systems of his newly created K9 Mark 2.
"In the Mary Mary month of May, I was taken by surprise…"
"Greetings, Master."
The Doctor pulled back seeing the active lights from K9's face.
With a grin the Doctor put the side planting back on his new metal companion and lean down in front of him.
"Ah, good, good tell me who am I?" The Doctor said pointing at himself.
The mechanical dog whirled his ears as it contemplate the Doctor's question.
"You are the Doctor master."
"Ah good boy K9."
"Negative, Master."
The Doctor paused in confusion, "Negative? What about?"
"This unit does not have any gender specific identity, there for this unit is not a boy, Master."
The Doctor ruffled his hair a bit, "Well you made a good point, K9 but I can't say good girl because that's what I say to the TARDIS and it would just be confusing for all here so how about you stick with it?"
K9's ears whirled again, "Very well, Master this unit is a good boy."
The Doctor chuckled at this and walked to the console, "Now where are we landing today?"
K9 rolled his way near the Doctor, "Unknown, Master this unit is not equipped with knowledge on TARDIS destinations."
"No, K9 I was not asking you I was just talking to the TARDIS," said The Doctor.
"Negative, Master the TARDIS does not posses the ability for self language."
Doctor frowned at K9, "Hmm, maybe I need to take another look at you."
Before either of them could answer the console's rotter stopped signifying the TARDIS landed. The Doctor activated the scanner showing a green meadow and in the background a large mountain range and in the cliffs a castle.
The Doctor smiled at this familiar sight.
"Well as I live and breathe we're on Peladon."
"Peladon. Home planet of the Peladonians, an Earth like planet containing earth like races. It has three moons and…"
"Oh I know about all that K9, I've been here before," The Doctor spoke as he put on his scarf and hat. "Now how about we go on a little walk and stretch our legs?"
K9 rolled towards the Doctor, "This Unit does not possess any limbs for the use of walking Master."
The Doctor crossed his arms, "Do you want a walk our not?"
K9 then wagged his tail in response, "Please Master, I wish to walk."
The Doctor smiled in victory and pulled the lever on the door controls and both The Doctor and K9 stepped out.
K9 came out first as the Doctor walked out closing the doors behind him. He took a deep breath at the open air of the planet.
"Ah, smell that air, K9 that is the smell of an aftermath of a rain storm."
"Master?"
The Doctor groaned, "I know K9 you don't have a nose to smell."
"Negative Master, this unit was warning you about a woman holding a weapon behind you."
The Doctor looked at K9 "Woman what woman?"
"Oh this one."
The Doctor turned fast to see a young woman wearing an all red colored cloths with a black belt containing an assortment of devices. The woman's hair was long up to her shoulders and it's color was light brown but it was the gun the Doctor noticed more.
The Woman smiled at the Doctor with gun pointing at him, "Hello Doctor, My name is Clara and I would like your help.

K9 rolled in front of the Doctor and lifts it's head up towards the woman, "Warning, drop your weapon or this Unit will fire," spoke K9 as a small blaster extended out of from below it's nose.
"Now, K9 lets not provoke this nice young lady," said the Doctor keeping glances at K9 and the woman, "After all she did say she needs my help, by the way what was your name again?"
The Woman smiled "Clara. Clara Oswald, you can call me Clara or Ms. Oswald-No on second thought don't call me that, it makes me sound old and I rather keep the nice young appearance if you don't mind."
Clara then twirled her gun around like a cowboy then rested on her shoulder, "So judging from the robot dog you are either traveling alone or still with that Ms. Sheena?"
The Doctor looked confused, "Ms. Sheena?"
K9 retracted his blaster as his ears twilled again, "Sheena, queen of the jungle. A fictional comic book character, created in 1937 and 1938. One of the first female comic book character with their own title…"
"Yes, K9 I know who Sheena is. OH!" The Doctor's eyes widen in realization. "You mean Leela."
"Mistress Leela's current location is the Planet Gallifrey in the constellation of…"
"Thank you K9," The Doctor interrupted
"Yeah, Leela," Clara spoke, "So I'm guessing there is no one else on board right?"
"Affirmative," K9 answered.
"Thank you, K9 but I think I will answer her question for now," said the Doctor his arms still raised.
"You're not going to put your arms down?" asked Clara.
"Are you going to shoot me?" asked The Doctor.
Clara chuckled, "Nope," she said as she put her gun back in her holster. "It was just to get your attention and make sure you where listing to me."
The Doctor put his arms down and looked at Clara in question, "You could have just asked after all."
Clara shrugged, "True, but you're a busy Time Lord epically in your fourth incarnation."
The Doctor looked at her in disbelief, "How did you know that?"
"Oh right, I'm a Time Agent" Clara lifted her left arm showing the Doctor a strange device on her wrist. "See, Vortex Manipulator."
The Doctor looked at the device and slightly scoffed at it, "Ah yes I've heard about you lot and those silly things."
"Silly?" Clara looked at him but kept her grin, "These devices are a lot more reliable then your silly little boxes."
"Silly. Silly!" The Doctor complained, "Rubbish my TARDIS is the definition of Time travel in fact you could say she wrote the book on it."
"Negative, Master The TARDIS dose not have the ability to…"
"K9 shush!"
"Muting Voice functions Master."
"Good boy, now back to you," The Doctor turned towards Clara. "You said you needed help. Help with what?"
"From what we've been told on this day and this exact year, Peladon would gain advanced technology ahead of this planet's time and not only that but all the delegates from different worlds would be held for ransom," spoke Clara. "Soon enough Peladon would become a world of conquers."
"Peladon? A world of conquers?" said the Doctor in disbelief, "Rubbish, Peladon's culture is similar to that of England's Midieval times."
"Well, believe it or not that's what they told me and here I am," said Clara, "My mission here is to see if I can prevent it, hopefully I can do things without having to use my gun here."
"Well that is usually how I like to do things," said The Doctor.
"The only thing I'm missing is a guide for this planet."
"Ah, a guide! Is that where I come in?" said The Doctor getting the picture.
"Why yes it is, care to help?" asked Clara.
The Doctor pondered at her offer, on one hand she could be lying to him, but on the other hand he could not help but to be intrigued on this so called mission.
"Well if you made up your mind and want to join me, I'll be heading up," Clara then started running past The Doctor and K9 towards the castle on the mountain, she turned back and shouted, "See you at the top, Maybe!"
The Doctor let out a chuckle, "My, she has some energy and spirit doesn't she, K9?"
The Doctor looked down, K9 rolled by him and the robot dog nodded his head.
The Doctor rolled his eyes, "K9 you can talk now."
"Reactivating voice controls," spoke K9.
The Doctor looked back up, Clara walking now up towards the mountain. The Doctor got up and flipped his scarf on the other side of his neck, "Well come on K9 let's catch up."
"Master, this Unit movement does not function well on rigid terrain," said K9.
"Oh, fine I'll carry you," The Doctor carefully picked up K9, holding him with both hands.
"Now don't you get use to it, as soon as we get back to the TARDIS, I'm having you upgraded for mountain climbing."
"Affirmative, Master."
"You know what thinking back on my last visit here, I doubt the current King or Queen have a violent bone in their body."
"Your, Majesty please don't do this!"
"TEAR IT ALL DOWN ALL OF YOU!"
One by one the place guards removed the tapestry that bore an animal's face, then one guard lifted his hammer and slam hard on the statue of the animal.
"Stop this please!" begged the High priest on his knees before the King of Peladon.
The King's appearance shows a thirty year old man with black hair with a hint of red across the top. The King frowned around the room and glared down at the cowering priest.
"Stop your crying you cowering idiot!" The King said as he slammed his foot on the priest's face knocking him down.
"Are you finished yet?" spoke The King.
"Your, Majesty we are done what shall we do with the rest?" asked one of the Guards.
"Toss them outside!' shouted the King in anger, "I want any traces of that disgusting creature out of my palace at once!"
"My king you will bring forth the wrath of Aggedor upon us all if you continue to do this heresy!" spoke out the priest holding his bloody noise.
The King turned to him and grabbed the front of his robe, "I warned you did I not?" spoke the King.
"Did I not say as I was crowned King that all traces of Aggedor and it's primitive religion where to finally be snuffed from the face of the planet! Did I not say that any one who dares to disobey me will face consequences?!"
"Your, Majesty what I did was only to keep us all safe and what you have done to the sacred altar and the ruining of the temple of Aggedor will shirley bring the wrath of…"
The King tossed the priest to the wall.
"Once more you speak of words that continue to have the Galaxy see us as a primitive and fools like you that will continue to pull us back!"
"Guards!" shouted the King, "Takes him to the dungeons! His fate will be decided once the delegates leave."
Two guards came to the priest and grabbed his shoulders as they drag him out the room.
"You will bring the wrath of Aggedor upon us all! You will doom us all!" shouted the Priest.
The King then motioned the other guards to take the ruin tapestries and the broken pieces of the statue out of the room after that a woman with the same colored hair that matches the King's came in to the room.
"Antranak what are you doing?" she spoke in distress after seeing the priest with his face covered in blood and being dragged away.
"What I'm doing is punishing those who refuse to obey my laws, Rubak," spoke King Antranak. "That old fool thought he could hide this from me. Well he will pay the price for his disloyalty soon."
"Brother I wish you would stop this," said Princess Rubak. "You are making the people fear you. Mother said a ruler must earn the love of the people to show that they are protected."
"Mother is not hear anymore, sister!" shouted King Antranak. "I am now Peladon's ruler not you! I am King and my word is law! What I'm doing is for the good of Peladon and the people will understand this."
"And what if they don't?" asked Rubak. "Brother I understand why you are doing this, but you can't force change it must come naturally. You have to wait for the people to…"
"If we wait long enough we will still be seen as primitives!" He shouted to his sister.
"Peladon has waited long enough for change and if I leave things the way they are now we will never be truly respected among the peoples of the universe."
"Your, Majesties." The rulers turned to a guard. "The delegates have arrived."
"Good," said The King, "I will join them in the throne room shortly."
The guard left the room leaving the royal siblings alone in the trashed room.
"Remember sister, So long as I wear the crown, Peladon's future will be mine to decide, understand?"
Princess Rubak sighed, "I understand, Brother."
"Good, now come we must look presentable for our guests," smiled the King walking out of the room but not before crushing a piece of stone no doubt what remains of the broken statue of Aggedor.
The Princess discovered a torn cloth with the old symbol of the royal family and carefully hid it in her sleeves as she followed her brother to the throne room.
"Well what took you so long?"
The Doctor finally made it to the entrance where Clara waited for him as she sat on a large rock.
"Well it is remarkable difficult to walk up a mountainside while carrying your dog you know," The Doctor said putting K9 on the ground.
" This unit will make note of acquiring upgrades for ridged terrain, Master," said K9.
"Make sure you do that, K9," said The Doctor.
Clara started walking up to the palace entrance only to be blocked by the palace guards.
"You may not enter here," said one of the guards.
"Not enter?" said The Doctor, "Why I can assure you I at least am allowed to enter here, allow me to…."
"Hold that thought will you?" said Clara as she pulled out a wallet from her belt and showed it to the guards. "Well boys what does the paper say?"
The two guards looked at the paper and instantly bowed on one knee, "Forgive us, Madam we did not know you are a close friend of the Earth Diplomats."
"Well let's not have that happened again alright," said Clara "So are we going in or what?"
The guards motioned for the gates to be opened, while this was going on The Doctor took a look at the wallet in Clara's hand. The paper was blank.
"This is psychic paper," whispered the Doctor. "Now where did you get this?"
Clara smiled, "I can't say everything about me. Besides don't you like a bit of mysteries?"
The gates finally opened and both Clara and The Doctor entered. The guards looked down in confusion as K9 rolled past them.
"Oh, the dog comes to!" shouted Clara.
"Affirmative."
The Throne room, long gone was the old appearance of Peladon's old age, now the walls are decorated with silver metal replacing the stones, and the throne now large and metallic to fit a royal status.
To first sight it the throne room would be confused as a control room.
King Antranak and Princess Rubak entered the throne room as the King sat down upon it while his sister stood beside him.
Then three other people entered the room, The King's Chancellor Dumo, The champion Morus, and the Princess's handmaiden Mella.
"Your highness," The advisor bowed, "I present the delegates from the Galactic Federation."
The doors to the throne room opened as one by one the delegates came.
"Ssssir Garren of the Draconian Empire," spoke the Draconian wearing jaded robes.
"Ambassador Shoun of the Vegans," bowed the Vegan.
"Lord S-Serian of Marss. Along with Commander Barran," said the Ice Warrior with his comrade.
Lastly a bald woman enters the chamber "Princess Kana of Earth and…" The woman looked around, "Eh?
"Sorry, sorry!" a voice shouted from the doors as another member of the federation entered, "Sorry, Ambassador Alpha Centauri of well…Alpha Centauri. Once again sorry I've lost my way in the halls."
"Welcome back to Peladon everyone," smiled King Antranak. "And Alpha Centauri is surprise me that you would lose your way after your many visits in the past."
"Oh I am not the same Alpha Centauri. You speak of my parent," said Alpha Centauri. "But that is all right my people get this a lot epically since we share the same name as our planet."
"Well I am glad anyway for all of you to come. No doubt we all now why I have asked you all here?"
"I wasss told yess," said Sir Garren.
"We all know why we are here your highness," said Princess Kana. "And we all agree to…"
"Well I don't know about you but I really don't like the changes at all."
Everyone turned around to see The Doctor, Clara, and K9 enter the throne room.
"Hello everyone, have we interrupted anything?" said Clara.
"What is the meaning of this?" said Lord Serian.
"I would like to know this to," said King Antranak. "Princess Kana are they with you?"
"I can assure you, your Majesty," said Alpha Centauri "These individuals where not with me and the Princess on the shuttle."
The king looked at the intruders and snapped his fingers, causing the guards in the room to raise their blades near The Doctor's neck.
"You see this is what happens when you come uninvited," The Doctor smirked.
"You will identify yourselves at once our, you will see what I do to intruders," spoke King Antranak.
"Well of course, well this young lady is Clara Oswald," Clara smiled as she waved. "This is my dog K9, and I am The Doctor, I hope you've heard of me."
Everyone minus the Doctor and Company looked at each other in surprise, The King walked up to the Doctor and looked at him in the eye as the Doctor just grinned at him.
"Would his majesty care for a Jelly Baby?" The Doctor brought out a bag out of his pocket and held it at the King.
"I have heard tells of the Doctor in many of stories of Peladon, but you do not look like him at all," said King Antranak.
"Brother," spoke the Princess as she walked to him, "Remember what Mother told us of her travels with the Doctor and he looked different form the stories here to."
"If I may sssay so," spoke Sir Garren, "From my people'ss history The Doctor hass appeared with many faces in the past."
"As has our history of him," said Lord Serian.
"But how can we be so sure that this man is The Doctor?" spoke Alpha Centauri.
"Oh now Alpha Centauri you know me-oh sorry," said The Doctor, "I thought you where the same Alpha Centauri that I always meet on Peladon."
"No you are thinking of my parent but how did you guess I was not the Alpha Centauri you knew?"
"Why simple your eye is a different color then his."
"And let me say what a pretty eye you have," said Clara.
Alpha Centauri blushed, "Oh why thank you, no one ever really notices my eye before…"
"Ahem," Princess Kana interrupted.
Alpha Centauri quickly composed himself, "Flattery will get you no where with me." He said to them.
"Can't blame a girl for trying," shrugged Clara.
"This is pointless, guards!" spoke Dumo, "Take these intruders to the dungeon!"
Before the guards could do their orders, the King raised his hand up, "Hold!"
"But your highness they could be dangerous," said Chancellor Dumo.
"If they wanted to kill me then their robot would have fired its weapon at me right now."
The Doctor looked down seeing K9's blaster out and ready to fire, "K9 put that away!" he hissed.
"Disengaging weapon systems, Master," spoke K9 putting the weapon away.
"So sorry about that, his bark is worst then is bite," said The Doctor.
"Negative, Master this unit does not bark."
Antranak looked back at The Doctor, "I don't know if you are The Doctor of legends or just some lunatic with a death wish but under the circumstances for the remainder of you presence you and your companions can be my guests."
"Thank you your Highness," The Doctor bowed then the king grabbed his shoulder.
" But if you bring any trouble you will regret ever setting foot here." The King Antranak said with a stone tone.
"Oh I'll try but I make no promises, your Majesty," The Doctor said as he ate a Jelly Baby.
Antranak then faced the delegates, "Now that's been cleared up let us now go into the other room to discuss what we all are here for."
"Indeed," said Ambassador Shoun as he and the rest followed The King.
"Well don't mind if we join in," said The Doctor.
"Oh no not you two," spoke Alpha Centauri stopping The Doctor in Clara, "Doctor or not this meeting is for Federation members only."
"So you guys are just going to let two strangers in the throne room?" said Clara, "Not a very good idea if we are thieves you know."
"Oh, Ms. Oswald just joking," The Doctor chuckled then whispered in her ear, "Stop joking!"
"And I told you to just call me Clara."
Chancellor Dumo walked to the King, "Your Majesty, what are we to do with them?"
Antranak thought on this and turned to Rubak. "My sister Princess Rubak will give The Doctor and friends a tour in the castle, after all much has changed since the Doctor's last visit."
Rubak faced her brother, "But brother I think…"
When Antranak looked at her, Rubak shuffled her fingers and sighed, "I'll do it."
"Good, My champion Morus will accompany you," said Antranak pointing to his champion and whispered in his ear.
"Do not let them out of your sight." The warrior nodded silently as he stood blocking the Princess and her handmaiden from The Doctor as The King and the Delegates went to the other room.
"My you are a big fellow aren't you?" said Clara looking at the large muscular warrior.
The Champion pays no mind to Clara and stands next to the Princess watching them.
"Silent type?" said Clara.
"They usually are when I meet one," replied The Doctor. "But they are wonderful to talk to."
Princess Rubak let out a quit sigh and turned to the Doctor, "Well Doctor would you like to see the minds?"
"Why yes, Your Majesty, and I hope you wont mind me asking about all the changes here since last I arrived?"
"I don't mind at all," smiled the Princess, "Just follow me and Morus please don't stand to close, coming Mella?"
"Yes your highness," said The Handmaiden as she walked to the Princess's side for a moment The Doctor thought he heard a strange sound he turned his around the room trying to find it.
"Doctor?" asked Clara.
"Is something wrong, Doctor?" said Princess Rubak.
What ever the sounds he heard The Doctor could no longer hear it, "Oh nothing I must have heard a fly. Shall we carry on?"
The Princess nodded and led then ahead while Champion Morus stood behind her while leaving glances at the Doctor, Clara and K9.
"So what was that about?" Clara whispered to The Doctor.
The Doctor looked at Clara "What was what?"
"Did you hear anything?" Clara asked.
"Why did you?"
"No."
"Then neither did I," smiled The Doctor. "So, your Highness please tell me how Peladon has faired since my last visit?"
Clara rolled her eyes but continued to follow but not without giving a glance at the room the King and delegates entered.
Deep within the minds two miners are busy digging a new tunnel for the precious metal of Peladon, Trislicate.
"Hey, Daruk how long are we going to keep digging?" asked one of the two miners.
"Come on, Ballad stop your complaining," said Daruk. "We will be done in four soon enough and we can go back to the pub for a drink."
"First off I am not complaining," said Ballad putting his picking axe down. "A first off I though you would be taking a break from the fire water?"
"What can I say? Once you taste it, it's hard to let it go," laughed Daruk, Then he slammed his axe on the wall causing it to crumble instantly.
The two miners moved away from the new hole.
"How hard did you hit it?" said Ballad.
"I don't know?" said Daruk with a smile, "Still I can't complain. I always said I could have the strength of Aggedor."
Ballad quickly covered his friend's mouth, "Are you mad? You know we are not allowed to say that name it is forbidden by royal law."
Daruk removed the hand over his mouth, "Relax will you, the king is not down here. Now come on lets take a look."
Ballad look down into the tunnel in worry, "I don't know we should go tell Ridgin what we found first."
"Come on now don't be a coward, besides we might find some really valuable, perhaps a new load of Trislicate down there," said Daruk. "We could get rewards now come on."
Daruk entered the tunnel with Ballad reluctantly beside him.
"I don't like these tunnels," said Ballad, "They seem unnatural. Like their almost alive."
"Oh that is just your imagination getting the better of you," said Daruk, but then he touched the wall a felt a small pausing sensation from it. He touched it again and what he should of felt stone he felt something a kin to flesh.
"What sort of trickery is this?"
"See I told you!" said Ballad with fear, "Lets get out of…"
RRRRAAAAAAHHHHAAAASSSSS!
"What in great Peladon was that?!" shouted Daruk.
Both miners turned around to see a large shadowed figure appear before them and they screamed as it descended upon them.
"You know your highness," said Clara. "For a castle that looks medieval on the outside, it makes you think on the high tech throne room."
"Well I personally don't like," said The Doctor. "I mean no disrespect your highness but…"
Rubak turned to the Doctor, "Oh don't worry, actually the throne room was redecorated by our grandmother on our father's side, she was much loved by the people," Rubak smiled sadly, "Our mother was like that as well. You know you've traveled with her Doctor."
"I did?" The Doctor asked in confusion. Rubak covered her mouth in surprise, "Oh I'm so sorry, you where not suppose to know that."
"Ah, she must be someone form my future," said The Doctor.
"Yes," said Rubak embarrassed, "You know when me and my brother where children she use to tell me stories all about her adventure with you and…"
"Your highness," said Clara. "Perhaps you better not tell The Doctor anymore."
"My queen is trying to make a good conversation," said the handmaiden looking cross with Clara, "How dare you interrupt her."
"It is okay Mella," said Rubak, "My mother also told me about the web of time and how much trouble could cause with just a little information. She always respected you Doctor.
The Doctor smiled at the Princess, "Well I can't wait to meet her someday. Ah here we are."
The Doctor and company found themselves in the mines where miners left and right are busy hacking and drilling walls and ground for the precious metal of Peladon.
"You know I forgot how cute the Miners hairs are," said Clara.
"Behave your self," said The Doctor. "They might find that offensive."
"Says the man with the curls," Clara snickered.
One of the miners noticed them and quickly bowed to the princess and soon all of the rest did, then one of the Miners came up to the group.
"Princess Rubak welcome back," smiled the Miner giving her a graceful bow.
Rubak giggled at that, "Why thank you Ridgin."
"Doctor this is Ridgin, he is in charge of the work down here in the Mines."
Ridgin looked at the Doctor in surprise, "You are the Doctor? It is an honor to meet you sir. I've heard the stories but you don't look like the Doctor form the stories."
"Oh well I've had a some facelifts," said The Doctor.
"Yeah four times in fact," said Clara.
"You know my ancestor was Gebek who become Chancellor thanks to you, it was a great honor for our family," smiled Ridgin, "I always hope that some day I can leave my mark in our family."
Rubak put a gentle hand on Ridgin's shoulder, "I know you will." Ridgin smiled at the Princess. Soon Rubak took her hand away and the two turned away form each other.
"So how goes the day?" said Rubak while Clara smiled knowingly.
"Everything is perfect your majesty," began Ridgin, "My men are working hard with the new tools and we had no accidents this…."
"HELP!"
Everyone turned to see Daruk come running out of a tunnel while holding his shoulder, he fell on his knees with a look of terror painted on his face. The minder where the first to surround him
"What happened Daruk?"
"What's wrong?"
"Where is Ballad?"
"Give him some air all of you move!" shouted Ridgin as he helped Daruk up. "Daruk what happened?"
Daruk trembled in fear but managed a few words, "I-I saw it."
"Saw what?" asked Rubak but when Daruk was about to answer he saw her and closed his mouth.
"Well? What did you see?" said Ridgin.
"I-I-I can't say it," said Daruk.
Clara leaned towards The Doctor, "Doctor what did you think he saw?"
The Doctor looked at Daruk, "Well the last time I saw something like this one of the miners said they saw Aggedor."
When The Doctor said that all the miners turned to him in shock.
The Doctor stared in confusion, "What did I say something wrong?"
K9 twirled his ears, "Negative, Master you said Aggedor."
The Miners moved quickly away from the Doctor, only Ridgin remained.
Clara looked at the Doctor, "Maybe we should stop saying Aggedor," soon Morus stood before them and drawn out his sword at them.
"Yes we probably should stop saying that," said The Doctor eyeing the blade.
"Morus stop!" shouted Rubak standing between them and the King's champion.
Morus looked at the Princess then put his sword back in its holder. Rubak sighed in relief.
"I'm sorry Doctor I forgot to mention, it is forbidden to speak the name of the old beast of Peladon."
"Does this have to do with your grandmothers rule?" asked The Doctor.
"In a way but once my brother came to the throne he wanted to make that rule paramount. So by decree all traces of the beast's influence to be torn, burned, or completely destroyed."
"And let me guess anyone who does not follow the rules is to lose their heads or something?" asked Clara.
"Oh no my brother would never do that," said Rubak then sighed "You would simply be imprisoned or banished from Peladon."
"Banished? Now that seems to be a bit much don't you think?" said The Doctor. "But let us save that for another discussion, right now let me look at man."
The Doctor walked up to Daruk but Daruk slowly moved back, "Don't worry I wont make you say 'You know what' but is that what you saw?"
Daruk looked at the Doctor then at Ridgin. His leader nodded him to answer.
"It-it looked like…'You know what' but different as if it crawled from the underworld itself."
"And where did you see it?" The Doctor said.
Daruk stated to tremble more, "It was a tunnel that me and Ballad found while we where digging. We entered it and their it was…standing their it was horrible!"
"You said you were not the only one that entered the tunnel? What happened to Ballad?" The Doctor continued then Daruk started to weep.
"It was charging at us, I ran as fast as I could but Ballad was petrified by the sight and it…he…."
I was what?"
Daruk moved back in shock, right there standing behind him was Ballad alive!
"Ah, you must be Ballad," The Doctor said, "Funny but the way your friend here was talking it sounded like you did not make it."
"Funny he looks alive to me," said Clara.
Daruk stood up and slowly walked to Ballad making sure he was not seeing things, "Is that really you? How is this possible I saw it attack you!"
"Nothing attacked me, Daruk," smiled Ballad, "You probably where drinking again."
All the miners nodded knowing full well that Daruk was know to drink more of his share of the fire water.
"NO! This must be a trick I saw you getting killed in the tunnel!" shouted Daruk.
"What tunnel?" said Ballad.
"The tunnel that your friend here made," said Clara, "Where you and he found that 'you know what' that may or may not have killed you."
"The tunnel yes!" said Daruk "I'll take you to the tunnel! Then we shall see won't we!" FOLLOW ME!"
Daruk motioned everyone to follow him.
"Wait stop," said Ridgin trying to avoid a commotion "Everyone just settle down and lets…"
"Maybe we should see the trouble," said Rubak putting a hand on Ridgin's shoulder once again.
Ridgin looked to the princess and nodded then blushed at how close he and the princess where and her as well.
Clara saw this happened and looked to the handmaiden, "Hey is there something going on between those two?"
Mella looked to Clara, "Absolutely not, such a thing goes against the laws of Peladon after all a princess does not fall in love with a miner."
"Come along Ms. Oswald and you to K9!" shouted The Doctor following the crowd.
"I told you call me Clara!" she shouted following him with the Princess and company behind.
The Doctor made it first while passing through some of the miners. When he finally came up front he saw Daruk clawing at a wall of stone.
"But it was here, I saw it!" shouted Daruk in a frenzy, "I made a hole right here it should be right here!"
The miners looked at each other then at him. Then they all started to laugh.
"Yep Daruk got into the fire water again."
"Look at him I knew this would happen someday."
"Yes he finally lost it!"
Daruk frowned and grabbed an axe, "I'll show you! IT WAS HERE!"
But before Daruk could strike the wall Ridgin came up and grabbed the axe form him, "All right that is enough. All of you I think we should have a rest period. If that is alright your, Highness?"
"Yes I think it is time to rest for awhile," said Rubak.
"But Ridgin it was here," said Daruk holding onto Ridgin's shoulders, "I saw it!"
Ballad came and gently grabbed Daruk, "Ridgin why don't I take him home. I think he might have had to much last night."
Ridgin sighed, "Yes I think so. You could use some rest."
Daruk tried to resist and go back to the wall but do to his state of mind he was powerless and followed Ballad.
The Doctor looked back at them then at the wall. He walked up to it and studied it for a moment.
"Maybe he did see things," said Clara coming up to him but then saw how The Doctor was looking at the wall and scratching off some of the stone.
"Either you have a hobby of rocks or you think it something more?"
The Doctor stood up, "You don't get that hysteric from drinking to much, well at least I don't think, never touched the stuff myself."
"Oh I have back in my academy days," said Clara. "But I get what your saying. The look of fear and total shock of seeing this friend, it looked like he really saw him die and now he is back to life."
"Doctor, Princess I deeply apologize for this," said Ridgin.
"Oh, you don't have to apologize for anything," said The Doctor. "Oh but can you do something for me?"
Ridgin looked at the Doctor in confusion, "I suppose."
"Well for the moment how about you don't let anyone near this wall and let my good friend K9 stay with you guarding it."
"Doctor do you believe Daruk?" asked Princess Rubak.
"Well until we know if what he saw was true or not I think it would help don't you?"
Rubak thought about it and nodded, "Then I approve of this, what say you Ridgin?"
"If you think it is okay then very well Doctor, your robot can remain," said Ridgin looking at K9 oddly.
The Doctor bend down to K9, "K9 I want you to guard this spot if you see anything out of the ordinary alert us at once understand?"
K9 nodded his head, "Affirmative."
The Doctor stood up and turned to the Princess, "Your majesty if you would be so kind as to let me explore the secret tunnels? They are still secret or has that changed?"
"Oh no they are still the same," said Rubak "But why do you want to venture there?"
"Let me say that I have a hunch and perhaps it would not be a bother to let your brother know what has happened down here."
"Doctor I doubt the King would be concerned over what Daruk said," said Ridgin.
"When the Doctor is around, the things that seem not important tend to be very important latter on," said Clara.
"You really did your homework on me," The Doctor turned to Clara.
"I got all A's," Clara smiled.
The Princess ponded about this idea, on one hand this situation may be nothing, but then again the history of Peladon tells that when The Doctor arrives death and tragedy is not far behind and he always manages to stop it.
"Very well Doctor but perhaps it s safe to provide an escort," said Rubak.
"Your highness," said Mella, "If I may I would like to escort The Doctor. As you know during our childhood we played in the tunnels and no one knows it better then me."
Rubak chuckled remembering those happier times, "On that I have no doubt, very well then if you approve Doctor."
"I don't see why not more the merrier," smiled The Doctor. "Okay K9 will stay with Ridgin and Clara can go with you prinncess to speak to the king and…"
"Actually Doctor why don't I go with Mella to the tunnels and you go speak with the king," said Clara.
The Doctor raised his eyebrows, "Really why?"
Clara grabbed the Doctor's arm and moved him a few feet from the others, "Listen I know that you know that miner did see something down here."
"Did I?" asked The Doctor.
"Yeah don't play dumb," Clara said, "Now maybe that has something to do with my mission. Maybe they have some dangerous weapon down here or somewhere in the tunnels or something?"
"Also I don't do well in politics but you do."
"Really who says?" said The Doctor.
"You have experience here in Peladon, true it was not with your current face but still you can handle it," said Clara.
The Doctor thought on that statement, "But what if you fall into trouble when or if you find it?"
Clara smirked, "Please I've gotten myself out of trouble way before I joined the Time Agency."
Doctor thought on that for a moment then turned back to the group, "Okay change of plans. Clara and Mella will go in the tunnels and I will have a word with the King."
Rubak nodded, "Very well then Doctor. Go with her Mella."
Mella looked like she was about to protest but Clara put a hand on her shoulder and smiled, "Don't worry, your highness me and Mella are going to ok."
"Now remember K9 you stay here unless I call you understand?" said The Doctor.
K9 nodded his head, "Affirmative."
"I will stay as well to watch him," said Ridgin.
"Okay then shall we go?" The Doctor asked. Rubak nodded and after saying goodbye to Ridgin she lead The Doctor to the throne room with Morus close behind him.
"Do you know how to get to the secret passage into the tunnels?" asked Ridgin.
"Oh yeah, I read about those before I got here," said Clara and before Ridgin could ask her about that she grabbed Mella's hand and led her out leaving Ridgin alone with K9.
K9 whirled around to stare at the wall, Ridgin turned as well, "So are you just going to stare at the wall until something happens?"
"Affirmative."
"Come on now just a little further now Daruk," said Ballad holding onto Daruk as they walked deep in the mines, "Just a little bit more and we can…."
"NO!" Daruk freed himself from Ballad's hold and picked up a large rock from the ground threatening to toss it at him.
"You are not fooling me!" shouted Daruk, "I know what I saw. My friend the real Ballad was killed by that Monster what ever it was!"
Ballad held is hands up defensively, "Now please let us not do anything foolish friend."
"We are not friends! I do not know what you are but I swear I will go to the king about this!" Ballad frowned at Daruk threat.
"Very well. Then die like your comrade."
Daruk paused at the threat, then Daruk felt a shadow over him he turned his head only for the figure to quickly grab ahold of his neck and twist it. With the sound of a crack Daruk's body fell dead.
Ballad looked down as the corpse then at the figure in the shadows.
"Perhaps it is time to accelerate the planes."
"Now lets see the lever should be right…here," Clara said as she pulled on a torch on the wall in the hallway, as she did that part of the wall opened up.
"I wonder if this is what Daruk saw?" said Clara.
"If you remembered he said he broke the wall that lead to the so called secret passage if you believe that miner," said Mella. "And why are we going into the secret chambers anyway?"
"Well I have a theory that one secret chamber might lead to another secret chamber, so if the miner was right and not suffering a hangover then we might be able to find it," said Clara poking her head into the secret passage.
Mella scoffed at this, "That is your theory? It is ludicrous it does not make any sense."
"Well nothing ventured nothing gained as they say," said Clara entering the doorway, Mella sighed and followed her in.
"Good now we are all in agreement?" said King Antranak.
" I agree but I would like to point out one thing," said Alpha Centauri "Will the people agree to it?"
"Well of course they will agree," said Ambassador Shoun, "After all their miners agreed to use my peoples mining equipment."
"It is one thing to us devices but this is a completely different manner," said Princess Kana.
"And after the rumors…"
"Rumors? What rumors Lord Serian?" said Antranak.
"Upon my last visit my guard informed me of distrust between you and the people. There are rumors that there are plans to overthrow you."
"Sssuch isss the way of the peasants," said Sir Garren "Especially on primitive worlds if you don't mind me saying sso."
Antranak frowned at the Draconian.
"Sir Garren that was most insulting," said Alpha Centauri, "It is not King Antranak fault that despite the efforts of intergrading technology his planet still follows barbarism."
Antranak drummed his fingers on the table one by one.
"Alpha Centauri I don't think you are helping," said Princess Kana.
"I almost welcome an interruption by now," Antranak whispered under his breath.
The door opened and the Doctor walked in, "Hello everyone I hope I'm not interrupting anything again."
Then two guards raised their spears at his neck.
"Oh I did it again didn't I?"
"Doctor I told you to let me pass first," said Princess Rubak entering the room, "Guards put your weapons away at once." At her command the guards did while Morus kept an eye on the Doctor.
Antranak let out a sigh as he stood up "Normally I'd be furious by an interruption but I'm feeling unique today so sister what reason has the 'Doctor' decided to barge in on the meeting?"
"Well there has been an incident down in the mines," began Rubak.
"An incident oh good heavens!" cried Alpha Centauri.
"What sort of incident?" said Lord Serian.
"Was it a death sister?" asked Antranak.
"Well one of the miners said it was, but the victim turned out uninjured."
"Ssso there was no real incident?" said Sir Garren.
"Oh thank heavens," said Alpha Centauri as he sat down while Princess Kana using a fan tired to cool him down, "I don't do well with violence."
"Sister was this really important for you to tell me?" said Antranak getting a little agitated.
Princess Kana avoided her brother's gaze but continued to talk "Well brother you see the miner said he found a secret tunnel…"
"You mean to one that everybody knows about?" said Antranak rubbing his temple.
"No brother a different tunnel and he also said he saw," Kana paused.
"Saw what?" asked Antranak.
"Why he said he saw a creature that looked liked Aggedor," said The Doctor then the two guards raised their spears back at his neck.
Kana's eyes widen and looked to her brother. His face was calm but his eyes showed rage and his hands clenched into a fist.
"Iss this where we get to see the kingsss violent temper?" said Sir Garren with a smug.
"Oh dear violence I detest violence," said Alpha Centauri nearly fainting while Princess Kana tired to keep him from falling out of his chair.
Aggedor stood up from his chair and looked at the delegates and then at The Doctor.
"What did he saw?" he said trying to hide a growing temper.
"Well that depends if I say that name will you throw me in the dungeon or will I be sent off planet?" said the Doctor.
"Brother please keep your temper," his sister whispered to him, Antranak took a deep breath, "Just tell me Doctor."
"Well he said he saw a creature that bares a resemblance to Aggedor that he found in another secret tunnel down in the mines," said The Doctor, "If you be so kind, your majesty to tell your guards to put their spears down there poking my neck."
Antranak motioned the guards to lower their weapons down and the Doctor checked his neck to make sure there where no scratches.
"And did you see this creature?" said King Antranak.
"Well when he lead us to where he last saw the tunnel to his shock there was no tunnel…"
"The miner must have gone mad," said Sir Garren.
"Well that is one persons interpretation of this," said The Doctor.
"You mean he might have been right?" said Ambassador Shoun.
"Impossible," said King Antranak, "There are no more…Aggedors," he said with a snarl at that last word.
"Indeed since that last time I saw Aggedor he died saving Queen Thalira, one of your ancestors I believe," said The Doctor as he took a seat down next to Princess Kana as she continued to fan Alpha Centauri. "Would you care for a jelly baby?"
"Well actually Doctor the Aggedor you met had a daughter and she had offsprings," said Alpha Centauri feeling a bit better.
"Really, Well wonderful news I should see those of course they are probably bigger now," said The Doctor.
"Then you are to late," said Sir Garren, "For as sssoon as King Antranak took the throne he ordered the complete extermination of the speciesss."
The Doctor quickly got up at that word, "What?" he said with outrage.
"Sir Garren you are out of line," said Alpha Centauri, "Besides that is a rumor. Isn't it?"
"I've heard of this so called rumor myself," said Lord Serian.
The Doctor looked at the King with a frown. "Well your, highness is it true or not? Cause if it is let me assure you, making laws to end an old religion is one thing but to wipe out a species epically if that said species was a great part of your family and planet's s history."
The room was silent as the Doctor finished, Princess Rubak looked at the two guards and Champion Morus thinking that all three of them where about to attack the Doctor but they just stood as her brother spoke.
"You speak as if you are the authority here," said King Antranak.
"No I'm not," said The Doctor, "But I like to think I am when a species gets wiped out just…."
"Then Doctor do not speak of things that are none of your concern," spoke Antranak with a firm voice.
"Let me be clear Doctor, you are not of Peladon and you aren't with the Federation. What your opinion of me is, I do not care," said King Antranak.
"I am King here and as King I will do what ever I wish for the good of Peladon and if anyone dares to stand in the way of this…"
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
Everyone turned to the door.
"That sounded like Mella!" shouted Princess Rubak.
"Hurry they are in the secret passage follow me," said The Doctor going on ahead followed by King Antranak along with his champion and two guards as well as Rubak.
"Oh dear I knew we should not have come here," said Alpha Centauri.
"Come let us follow," said Lord Serian as he along with his guard and the rest of the Delegates followed along with a reluctant Alpha Centauri.
The Doctor came to the wall where the door to the tunnels lead and went in with the rest following him he carefully looked around the tunnel for any sign of trouble, then to his shock he saw the body of Mella the handmaiden laying on the ground with a hole on her back and Clara standing over the body holding a gun.
Clara looked at the Doctor instantly knowing what he was about to say, "Before you say anything let me explain," she said then the rest came and saw the body.
"Mella no!" shouted Rubak in distress as she drop down next to the body as the two guards as well as Lord Serian's guard surrounded Clara as she dropped her gun.
Alpha Centauri came up last, "What happened what is going on?" his then saw the body and almost fainted.
"What happened to her?" said Princess Kana.
"It seems she was shot," said Lord Serian.
"Yess, by that woman," said Sir Garren pointing at Clara.
"Doctor," spoke King Antranak glaring at The Doctor, "Care to explain why your friend killed my sisters trusted handmaiden before I have her and you imprisoned… or worse."
"Well I would like to know that myself. Clara I hope you've got a good explanation," The Doctor said with a look of mistrust on his face.
Clara just smiled a little, "Well yes I was about to say before we where interrupted. Now where was I?"
" Do you see this as a joke!?" shouted Antranak.
"Of course I don't! But before I say anything look over there by those boulders."
Clara motioned with her head over to four boulders. The Doctor walked to them and leaned over and back at the group, "By any chance did Mella had a twin sister?"
"What?" said Princess Rubak looking away from body of her once good friend, she along with Princess Kana and Lord Serian walked towards The Doctor and they all saw another dead body but this one looked exactly like Mella.
"What but how is this possible?" said Rubak
"Was she a twin?" asked Kanna but Rubak shock her head, "No she was an only child."
"Then if that is Mella then who is that over there?" asked Lord Serian.
"Good question, well Clara?" The Doctor said.
"Well I would but it is hard to say anything with these guys so close," said Clara. "Honestly don't you guys ever heard of personal space?"
King Antranak motioned his guards away from her and Lord Serian did the same to his.
"Try anything and you will die before you take a step," said Antranak with a glare that could kill.
Clara ignored him and looked at the others, "As soon as me and Mella came in we split up for a little while to see if we could find anything, all I was able to find was a bunch of rocks then I heard some commotion, I turned back to where I last saw Mella and saw her being attack by someone."
"Who was it?" asked The Doctor.
"It was hard to tell there is not much light here," replied Clara, "Anyway I tired to set off a warning shot with my gun but the attacker grabbed Mella and pushed her to my gun making me shot her by accident."
"Sso you did kill her then?" said Sir Garren.
"Hey it was an accident I did not mean to shoot her!" shouted Clara.
"Never mind him. Continue please Clara," said The Doctor
Clara glared at the Draconinan but continued on, "Right after that shoot Mella screamed and I soon shout the attacker as it fell it stated to turn into Mella."
"It shapeshifted into her?" said The Doctor looking at first Mella on the ground.
"That is what happened," said Clara. "After that I moved the real Mella by those boulders so I could get a better look at the attacker's body."
"That soundsss ridiculousss, said Sir Garren.
"True but you cannot deny what we are seeing right now," said Princess Kana.
Antranak walked to his sister as she stood between the two bodies each sharing the look of her trusted handmaiden.
"But why her?" said Rubak as her brother put his arm on her shoulder to comfort her.
"That all depends on who the attacker is," said The Doctor.
"And I think we are about to find out, look!" said Clara pointing down.
"What are you talking about-Oh my word!"
As soon as Alpha Centauri looked down the first body of Mella started to change, not only was the body changing but also the clothes as well.
When the transformation was finally done everyone was shocked at the result, except for The Doctor knowing full well at what this creature was.
The Doctor eyed Clara, he face showing surprised but a hint of knowing.
"So you know what that is don't you?" The Doctor whispered.
"Yes and it seems to fit my mission," replied Clara.
The Doctor nodded looking at the creature's body.
"It would seem that Peladon has been invaded by the Zygons."
To be concluded…
