Chapter 4

Takeover

Peters was addressing about how Mobius is going to recover now that Theobald Williams is deceased. "After much consideration, the council has decided to grant your request on initiating the Economic Rehabilitating Fund."

He was addressing it to Shade the Echidna, she was a citizen not a political figure. The fund wasn't her idea it was someone close. The Mobian who came up with the fund was Rosie who's standing next to her. She thanked the council and Shade for supporting her. "After that demise of Theobald Williams, I hope Mobius will once again gain the peace it deserved."

Sir Charles was mostly enthusiastic. He was reminded on how Sonic used to risk everything to bring peace to Mobius. Phil asked him how Sonic is doing, all Sir Charles said was, "Haven't spoke to him in years, heard he's doing good."

Phil spotted an otter walking to the entrance but instead of entering he just stood there. He reached in his pocket and Phil heard a whirring noise. The sound of rotating blades slowly grew louder, they turned and saw a helicopter piloted by Lightning Lynx. It sped closer and closer, Lynx pressed a button and a Gatling gun dropped from underneath and started rotating. Phil quickly leapt over just before bullets penetrated the room. Blood and bullets were sprayed everywhere, Phil drew a Walther and fired 4 rounds at the otter who was about to lock them in. Sir Charles drew a six shooter and fired at the pilot. Lynx felt the bullet enter the throat and steered the chopper turning it on a 90° degree angle. It descended fast and crashed on the street inventing a ball of fire and smoke.

Shade, Sir Charles and Phil inspected the room. It had glass and rubble filled with bullet holes. They were surprised to see the other council members and Rosie dead. Security busted through the room checking to see what the noise was. They helped Phil and Sir Charles The corpses were riddled with bullets and blood was everywhere. Shade was distraught after seeing Rosie's dead body. She spotted something gold under the rubble. She found a golden watch that's not Rosie's, she opened it and shows a photo of the Council of Acorn building.

Aleena went to see Sally Acorn's place. She wanted to see her just to give her updates on what's happening. "I have bad news, the council was under attack."

"Who would do that?" Sally wondered.

Aleena thought the same question. "Forensics are at the scene piecing together everything. The only people who survived were Phil Peters, Sir Charles Hedgehog and Shade."

"Who's Shade?"

"An Echidna who used to be a ranking Lieutenant with the Marauders. They were disbanded after each of them were killed off."

"I heard of them, but how were they killed off? They can take out any enemy they come across."

"Someone found a way."

They turned to the TV where Scarlet Garcia is giving a news report. "I'm outside the Cabelone Hotel were a trio of wanted fugitives have turned a 5-star resort into a fort. The groups were identified as the Babylon Rogues, a group of wanted jail breakers and the Destructix."

A series of photos showed on the TV showing the culprits. Aleena and Sally were startled when the saw Fiona Fox in one of the photos.

"This can't be right," surprised Sally.

They went to the morgue and asked Horatio Quack to show her the "corpse" of Fiona Fox. He opened the drawer and showed her the body. Sally noticed a tear near the eye. "It appears we have an imposter."

Dr. Quack tore off the latex and was surprised to see Flying Frog imposing as Fiona. Aleena picked up her phone and contacted Tower. "Commander Tower. Fiona Fox wasn't killed by Iris, it was Flying Frog of the Destructix."

"How could you be so certain?"

"Turn on the TV."

Tower switched to the news channel showing the takeover of the hotel. Looked at the amateur footage of a security camera before it was shot by Fiona. He picked up another phone and waited for an answer. "Hello, Rouge? I have a situation and I'm assigning you with a partner."

"I'm going to need more than a partner," Rouge said severely.

"There's a squad on their way and I'm also sending a team over."

Aleena overheard the conversation. "Who's the other team?"

"The other team consists of Team Dark."

Shadow skated at a breakneck pace. He avoided incoming and ongoing traffic without injury or damage. He was heading to a safe spot a few yards from the hotel. He met E123-Omega near a GUN van. Omega made a scan of the hedgehog. "Scanning...Shadow the Hedgehog...agent of Guardians Units of Nations."

"It's been a long time Omega." Shadow has been away for about 4 months.

"I wasn't expecting a dramatic entrance."

Agent Topaz got out off her vehicle and approached the hedgehog and robot. Rouge swooped down landing on top of the roof.

"I stand corrected," sighed Omega.

"It's nice to work with the ultimate life form and one of Eggman's robots on the good side for once," Topaz said with sarcasm. "I thought that incident with one of SWAT's cronies was bad enough."

"He's chosen to lead SWAT, he wasn't working for them from the beginning," reminded Rouge.

"What have you been doing for the last 4 months?" Topaz didn't know about Shadow's mission. She was caught up in her job and some how lost track of time.

"I was searching for St. John after his disappearance," informed Shadow. "He might know all about what SWAT's planning now."

"And no luck?"

"No, nothing."

A GUN soldier holding a radio called towards Topaz. "Agent Topaz! One of the terrorist wants to speak to ya!"

She took the radio and spoke. "Agent Topaz, who's speaking?"

It was Storm the Albatross using one of the radios he took from the security room. "One of the Babylon Rogues. We're not part of this, two more gangs came and tore up the place."

"It looks like you have your own war."

Storm is in the luxury suite with Wave who's looking out the door and Jet's seeing through the window keeping an eye on GUN. They have no firearms, all they have are their Extreme Gears. Most like they'll be using it for hitting and using it as a shield.

"Listen we want a chopper out of here just the three of us. The others are out of the equation."

Topaz thought the situation looked grim in their perspective. "If you could get out of there alive in one piece your transportation will pick you up in a jiff."

Stefan searched the rooms and they were empty. He couldn't find any staff or security guards in the entire building. It's almost as though the place was evacuated. He checked random hotel rooms, they're empty as well. The sound of a cocking six shooter alerted Stefan, Sergeant Simian stood behind and was about to walk closer until Jet prevented him.

"If you try to escape, those GUN shitheads will eat you alive," informed Jet.

Simian didn't want to tell him about the chopper on the roof. "Maybe so if you and your gang along with the other dead meat humans in the building hadn't intervened."
