Today was just the worse day ever for Ignis, at least that's how it felt for the little boy.

This morning, the little advisor had woken up late for he had stayed up all reading the fifth book of his favorite series. Needless to say his uncle wasn't to happy about that.

When he tried to make himself a bowl of cereal he accidentally knocked over the bowl causing it to shatter sending milk and colorful marshmallows to spread across the floor.

Which had gotten him yelled at...again.

Once at school Ignis had to run to class he knew he was late, no he wasn't late, he was very late. And once inside the classroom he had to sitting in the corner of the classroom with his back to the wall and his legs bent as if sitting on an invisible chair. With his arms out the teacher had placed two dictionaries on his arms forced to hold them and his arms up.

Throughout the day he had tripped going up the stairs, his backpack broke, he lost the cherished keychain Noctis had bought him only to find that an older kid had it who ended up pushing and roughing him up when he tried to get it back. Which landed them both in the principal office. And as outlandish as it sounds the principal believed that little scrawny Ignis had been the one to start the fight.

So the bully only got a lecture and was able to keep the toy keychain while Ignis was given a red card, lecture, and was sent out of the office after being paddled. The whole ordeal consumed his entire lunch period, leaving him sore and hungry.

Needless to say he was in a foul mood when his last class rolled in. He hadn't meant to but in his blinding anger he snapped back at the teacher leaving him to be sent back to the office where he was once again given a tongue-lashing and once again was paddled.

When his uncle went to pick him Ignis refused to talk, seeing how its done nothing but got him in trouble.

Now that he was in the Citadel all he wanted to do was to vent to Noctis about his day. But when he got there the dark haired boy was nowhere to be seen. King Regis had told him that Noctis was off playing with a schoolmate who had worked up the courage to ask to play with him. Regis also said not to worry and he'll be back soon. Ignis simply nods at the response before asking permission if he could go to the garden.

Regis knew Ignis liked it there so he nods with the exception of having Cor escort him there.

Thus brings us to now.

Ignis sitting teary eyed in the garden on the concrete bench. The colorful flowers mocking his gray and gloomy mood. Today was just getting worse. Sniffing Ignis takes off his round glasses to wipe at his eyes.

"Why did I have to have today ruined out of all days?" Ignis whispers softly to himself.

He was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't notice Noctis running up to him.

"Hey Iggy! Sorry I'm late...it took longer than expected." Noctis apologies. Ignis simply looks up and gives him a half-hearted smile "Its alright..."

"My dad said you wanted to see me. You okay?"

Ignis just nods.

Noctis nods wearily before gesturing to Ignis wanting him to follow. Ignis hops down and follows closely behind however, the day seemed to still be in a mood of wanting to kick Ignis whilst he is down for the little advisor tripped and fell face first into the flooring of the Citadel. The step having cut open his knee.

Ignis braced himself to hear Noctis but instead he felt the prince help him up into a sitting position "Iggy?" Noctis asks seeing how Ignis's face became as red as a tomato. Tears well up in his eyes as his bottom lip begins to tremble. Drawing his knee up to his chest this was the last straw. The Big Bad Wolf to the straw house that were his emotions. Everything that had led up to this point came pour out in the form of miserable tears. Ignis lets out hiccuping sobs as he continues to hold his knee which is speckled with beads of blood.

Seeing this Noctis blames himself thinking he had hurt Ignis. Helping him stand Noctis leads the weeping Ignis to the bathroom in his room. Sitting him down on the tub the prince sets to work cleaning and disinfecting the wound like he has seen Ignis do many times before.

Ignis had, at this point stopped crying and he was just left as a sniffling mess. He watches as Noctis places on his knee a Moogle band-aid. Standing Noctis looks his friend in the eye "You wanna tell me what's wrong?" he asks.

Ignis knows that's what he had wanted to do from the start. Taking a deep breath Ignis relays the entire day to the prince. But instead of feeling better Ignis felt worse at the end of the story.

Hearing this Noctis pulls his brother into a hug holding him tight "I know what will make you feel better." He says softly as he pulls away "Does it hurt to stand or walk?" He asks worried.

"No. I'll be alright...thanks Noct."

The two move towards the playroom that they often spend time in together and with the turn of the knob Ignis is greeted by a sight he hadn't expected to see.

The room was decorated in streamers, balloons, and the phrase 'Happy Birthday Ignis' on the wall.

At center was a table full of snacks and drinks with a stack of presents sitting below it.

"Happy Birthday Iggy!" Gladiolus shouts blowing the party horn as he slips a party hat onto the shocked birthday boy.

Ignis looked at, he stared it, did he believe it? Not at all. The scene before him was too nice, to pure, it was good and happy. The exact opposite of how his day had gone.

His eyes started to water and throat tightens.

"I-I thought everyone forgot..." his nose starts to run as he grips the sides of his corduroy shorts "I thought, that since I been bad I wasn't going to get a birthday party." Ignis says tears running down his round cheeks as he brings an arm up to his face. Ignis's shoulders quake as he finally lets go of the pent feelings of the days events leave him with the tears he was shedding.

"What? Don't be silly. We would never forget your birthday." Gladiolus says patting Ignis's back.

Noctis nods "Yeah. And who cares if your bad or good? What matters is right now." Noctis adds.

Ignis sniffs nodding as a sad smile appears on his lips. He was just happy to know that his friends remembered his birthday.

They had gone through the trouble to set this for him and he couldn't be anymore happy.

Because of them they had turned a terrible day into a great one.
