Chapter 11

Common Hatred

Cream the Rabbit met Vanilla outside a warehouse. They were planning to make amends.

"I spoke to Anthony," said Vanilla.

"I spoke to Nazo," said Cream.

They were nervous on how they were going to fix this broken relationship.

"Do we even know how it fell apart?" asked Vanilla.

They both don't know where to start. They come up with the same suggestion.

"We should start at the beginning," said Vanilla.

"I was thinking the exact same thing," agreed Cream.

Their conversation started when Cream mentioned how Vanilla changed for the past year. Vanilla explained it was all due to the fact that it was because of Rejoice trying to eliminate the competition.

"So it must be them, making certain that they should be protecting Mobius." Vanilla felt relieved.

"It's like they want to control us all," thought Cream. "Now that Geoffrey St. John is on their side, it's likely they're not the corporation citizens should listen to. Especially GUN is still around."

A door opened across from them. Geoffrey St. John walked to them. He obviously didn't want anybody or creature near a place Rejoice owns.

"Didn't think you'll come to terms," Geoffrey said in a monotone voice.

Both the mother and daughter didn't show any fear. They didn't run, they didn't cry for help. Cream aimed her gun at Geoffrey. He wasn't easily pleased. "Why is it that you don't call GUN for back-up?"

"I don't work for them," Cream answered.

"And I'm the one who caused the two of you to argue. It came naturally as I thought."

"How?" Cream drew her gun back.

Geoffrey explained everything. "I spoke to your mother on the phone about your deeds. Unlike the ones you did like attacking muggers and killing rapists; I told her you were part of Rejoice and disobeyed direct orders."

Vanilla was shocked from the details. "Why us? What made us special?"

"After breaking capturing the hostages from the subway, I want to give the justice system a taste of reality. People taking the law into their own hands, putting the real protectors out of the job. I chose both of you as an experiment; and it succeeded." Geoffrey rubbed his fur with his hands feeling proud.

"You chose us because we were easy to manipulate." Vanilla wanted to know if there's another reason for choosing them.

"Like any other family. Mostly consisting of the parent and child growing away from each other."

Cream noticed a light inside, it was a laser. She can also see the hand of one of the hostages. She had to make contact with St. John so he won't be suspicious.

"It's just an experiment that won't succeed. Bernard McOulen wanted subliminal messages and ways of manipulating Mobius with his control of the media once they're in command." Geoffrey finished the rest of his explanation.

"You don't think it will make sense and you want to take over?" wondered Vanilla.

"It's just subliminal messaging shouldn't be part of the ordeal. If he wants to overthrow GUN, he should take them down and fill the place," Geoffrey hesitated.

Cream begged to differ. "You should of thought twice on who has their enemies backs."

She pulled her cell phone. It had the number of a certain echidna.

"It's good to hear your voice Geoffrey," Lien-Da said on the other line.

Geoffrey was shocked to hear her voice again. "How did you find her?"

"Mina and I met near GUN headquarters. She said she might know where you might be. I also contacted Mina and Tikal."

Geoffrey reached for the phone. Lien-Da interrupted. "You can forget about the money, it will be in the hands of someone you know. Just to prove I'm not bluffing, look inside the warehouse."

Geoffrey walked in slowly. He found all the traps and sensors disabled. The hostages aren't there, standing there is Lien-Da. Both of them face each other. Julie-Su pointed a machine gun at his head.

Tikal and Mina parked 4 blocks far from the Cabfolone. They found a basement window. Mina broke the window, removing the remaining glass. They landed on the boxes. They had to find the main computer which has the info on bank accounts. They found one of the lifts destroyed. Only the one on the left was operational.

Mina leaned near the buttons, Tikal was closer to the doors. Sounds of the car descending alerted them. Rouge and Stefan were inside. They see each other, doesn't seem like the nice greeting they wanted to give in this day and age.

"Tikal? Mina? Did Topaz send backup?" asked Rouge.

"Actually we had to find bank records, courtesy of St. John," explained Tikal.

"Lien-Da has him hold up with Julie-Su. They're in the warehouse where the hostages of the subway were abducted." Mina explained more of the situation.

"Why didn't you finish him off?" Stefan asked.

"We got what we want so we're giving him what he wants," said Mina.

"I can see you're keeping him alive," said Tikal.

"Cops wanted him, not us." Rouge dragged Stefan out of the entrance.

Rouge allowed the GUN soldiers to arrest Stefan. Bernard McOulen watched the young man being taken for questioning. He has another man inside he must deal with.

Predator Hawk and Drago Wolf found Fiona with Nic.

"There's only one human left," informed Drago.

"Eliminate him if you must," Fiona commanded.

Watching from outside the room, a figure invisible to any person, sneaked inside. Predator Hawk almost went out, before the door slammed, injuring his wing. The invisibility turned off showing Shade.

"As if we haven't had enough problems," Nic said in disgust.

"I came to talk about this." Shade showed the same pocket watch from Rosie's body. She opened it showing the picture of Council of Acorn.

"I believe it belongs to this bird." Fiona used her gun, firing four shots.

Shade found Predator Hawk on the ground. Fiona told her that Predator Hawk was working for Rejoice behind her back. "He was given the chance to work for Rejoice. He couldn't refuse. He gave Rosie that watch as a warning. Even his original task was to send in forces to prevent the attack."

"Is that why you sent Lightning Lynx?" Drago wanted to be accurate.

"To do the job and kill Hawk in the process."

"But why did come here in the first place?" asked Shade.

Drago knew why he was absent of what's going on. "After Hawk and I escaped from the humans, we received a call from McOulen."

He continued to explain. "He's going to bring down the entire hotel with us inside. He must be consumed with revenge."
