Icey – when you review anonymously I can't actually answer. So that's why I'm answering here. Sebastian and Jesse still kiss on the cheek/lips simply because that's a part of the friendship I've created for them. Chaste kissing was a part of their friendship before Kurt, no reason why that should change now.
Chapter 27
Wednesday afternoon, they had Warbler rehearsal. After reading the minutes from the previous rehearsal Wes brandished his gavel around instructing his team-mates into a triangle formation with Blaine at the front.
On the first run-through of Blaine's solo, the shorter teen opted for a lot of paper throwing and jumping onto the furniture. Wes was not impressed and insisted they perform the song over again without being disrespectful to the school furniture. Then David suggested the second verse didn't sound quite right and there was a debate over how to adjust the material. When a decision had been finalised they performed Blaine's solo again to get the tuning and pitch correct. Wes had them run-through the routine twice more for good measure.
He then rearranged them again so they could get to work on a highly theatrical Kurt and Jesse duet. Every Warbler member watched on in awe as Kurt effortlessly hit a high F. As everybody was so impressed with his vocal talents, Kurt took the opportunity to suggest that they consider more imaginative outfits for competition. While Jesse, Blaine and Sebastian were supportive of his suggestion his ideas were given a firm 'no' by the Warbler Council.
After a couple more run-throughs of Kurt and Jesse's duet the group moved on to rehearse a number featuring Sebastian on lead vocals and an impressive dance section with Kurt, Jesse, Blaine and Jeff.
Once Wes was satisfied with the performance he lectured them all on team spirit and such. He was very passionate and articulate as he talked at great length. Listening to him speak, Kurt couldn't help but think that Wes was a William Schuester in the making.
"And furthermore…" Wes continued only to be interrupted by an impatient Sebastian.
"Wes, you're very pretty and you inspire us all, but seriously… shut up," Sebastian told him. "Some of us have an elsewhere to be."
"Fine, you're all dismissed," Wes huffed throwing his hands in the air and storming out.
"Our dinner reservations are for six," Sebastian said glancing at the watch on Blaine's wrist. "That's in less than an hour so don't take too long picking out an outfit," he said to Kurt. "Or fixing your hair," he added to both Jesse and Blaine.
Kurt looked scandalised at the thought of having less than an hour to get ready and quickly hurried away to his dorm room.
"I'll meet you in the parking-lot," Blaine smiled sharing a peck with Jesse.
"So… how's it going?" Sebastian asked once Blaine had disappeared from view.
"Blaine's happy," Jesse answered. "And that makes me happy. I enjoy the kissing and I love his company. It may not be true love but we certainly have a beautiful friendship. And the make-out sessions and the hand-holding are just an extension of that."
"So basically Blaine's your fuck-buddy?" Sebastian asked and Jesse scrunched his nose up at the suggestion.
"That makes it sound horrible," Jesse said. "And we haven't gone that far yet. If I just wanted a shag I could easily lure someone to my bed. But I don't want a one-night stand or a meaningless fling. I want a relationship. And Blaine's prepared to give me that so I'm prepared to make it work as best as I can."
"Does he know that his feelings for you are stronger than your feelings for him?" Sebastian asked as they climbed the stairs.
"I know our Blainers can be oblivious at times," Jesse commented fondly, "but he isn't stupid. I suspect he probably knows. And when I told him I wasn't rejecting him I made it clear that I wasn't professing undying love either. He knows I'm not in love with him… he must do. And he's not in love with me either, not properly."
"But he'll fall in love with you properly before you fall for him… if you ever do," Sebastian said. "Meaning when all is said and done, he'll be the one to get his heart broken."
"I'll avoid that as best as I can," Jesse sighed. "You know I will."
"See you outside," Sebastian told him opening the door to his room to change out of his Dalton uniform.
After a quick change of clothes, Sebastian headed out to the parking-lot to wait for the other three. Blaine was the first to join him, slipping on his cardigan and buttoning it up as he made his way over.
"Is my hair ok?" Blaine asked.
"Sure, you're gorgeous," Sebastian complimented and Blaine smiled in relief before letting out a long breath accompanied by a 'wooo' noise.
"Is it weird that I'm nervous?" Blaine questioned, one hand resting on his abdomen, no doubt experiencing a feeling of butterflies.
"I think feeling nervous just means that you care," Sebastian responded. "That's why it's always better to feel a little nervous before a performance."
"Can you believe that we're going on a double-date?" Blaine asked looking bemused by the very notion but excited all the same. "This all seems so crazy but so… so… so right," he smiled brightly and Sebastian forced a smile in response. "Tonight's going to be special, I can feel it. This double-date is going to be magic."
"I certainly hope so," Sebastian said genuinely. "If tonight goes wrong then I highly doubt I'll have another chance with Kurt."
"Don't think negative thoughts," Blaine advised him. "Be positive. Feel the magic. It's all around us Bastian. In the breeze, the stars, the glow of the moon and the shadows it creates on the ground. Feel it, feel the magic and embrace it and be… be fearless."
"Come here," Sebastian grinned holding his arms out and indicating for Blaine to join him.
As Blaine stepped up to him, Sebastian took one of his hands in his own and guided Blaine's free hand to his shoulder before settling his second hand on Blaine's waist. He stepped to the side and Blaine followed his lead, the two friends gently swaying together in the otherwise empty car park.
"What are you thinking?" Blaine quizzed watching Sebastian's face carefully, trying to work out what was going through the other boy's mind.
"Nothing," Sebastian replied twirling Blaine round. "I'm just allowing myself to feel the magic." He lowered Blaine into a dip just as Jesse's silhouette loomed over them. Pulling Blaine back up, Sebastian held out one hand to Jesse and pulled him towards himself and Blaine. He guided the other two into an odd three-way dance. "Feel the magic, Jesse," Sebastian said unable to keep a straight face at the corny line.
"Well, hello boys," Kurt greeted a few minutes later as he joined them looking stunning in his purple pants and grey dress shirt with a fancy purple fashion scarf wrapped artfully around his neck.
"Well, hello beautiful," Sebastian replied stepping away from Jesse and Blaine and towards Kurt. "Why my good sir, the stars and moon pale in comparison to your majestic beauty," he flirted as he pressed a kiss to the back of an amused Kurt's hand.
"Who are you and what have you done with Sebastian Smythe?" Kurt asked looping his arms round Sebastian's neck.
"Just feel the magic, Kurt," Sebastian instructed as he swayed from side to side with the other teen, his hands resting at Kurt's waist.
He pulled Kurt closer, one hand moving higher up Kurt's back before cradling the back of his neck. Resting his chin atop Kurt's head, Sebastian looked over to Jesse and Blaine to see the two still dancing together, Blaine grinning happily as Jesse twirled him around, both of them laughing as their lips met in a kiss.
"They look great together," Kurt gushed also watching the other two. "So happy… so in love."
Sebastian didn't say anything. He knew the happiness being displayed by his two friends was genuine but he also knew the 'love' Kurt spoke of was not real despite how it so strongly appeared to be the real thing.
"We should go," Sebastian decided electing himself as designated driver and leading them all to his car.

They arrived at the French restaurant with five minutes to spare before their six o'clock reservation. Blaine stepped out of the car first followed by Sebastian who practically tripped out of the vehicle. Laughing at his friend, Jesse carefully stepped out shutting the car door behind him. Kurt climbed out last, accidentally shutting the car door on his purple scarf.
"Sorry," he mumbled once he had freed himself so that Sebastian could lock the car.
The four teenagers walked towards the main doors of the restaurant, all feeling slightly nervous.
"Good evening," Sebastian greeted to the gentleman at the reception post. "Six o'clock reservation for four, under the name Smythe."
The man scanned down the list of names in his book before finding 'Smythe'. A young good-looking male waiter then directed the four of them to their table. Jesse smoothly pulled a chair out for Blaine and helped him sit down. Watching the interaction, Sebastian tried to do the same for Kurt but pulled the chair too far and his date fell on his ass with a loud 'smack'.
"Let me help you, monsieur," the waiter said offering his hand and quickly helping Kurt to his feet before Sebastian had the chance to.
"Thank you," Kurt replied smoothing out his shirt and dusting off his pants.
"No problem at all," the blonde-haired waiter replied as he successfully helped Kurt to be seated, Sebastian glaring all the while. "My name is Philip and I shall be your waiter tonight," he handed each of them a menu as Sebastian continued to shoot daggers at him with his eyes. "What can I get you to drink?" He asked slipping a notepad and pen out of his ridiculous looking apron.
"He'll have a coke with a slice of lemon but no ice," Jesse said indicating Blaine, "and if possible he's like a straw."
"And he'll have an iced-tea," Blaine smiled knowingly, "even though he doesn't really like the taste. He just thinks it makes him look sophisticated."
"Excellent choices," Philip told them noting it down. "And for you sir?" he asked Kurt showing off a dazzling smile of irritatingly perfect white teeth.
"Shirley temple, please," Kurt requested.
"Of course," Philip replied with a wink as he wrote it down. "And you?" He asked Sebastian as he continued to eye up Kurt.
"Your head impaled on a railroad spike," was what Sebastian was tempted to say.
"I'll just have lemonade," Sebastian said scooting his chair closer to Kurt and draping an arm around his shoulder, making it clear that they were a couple. "What a loser," Sebastian commented scathingly as Philip walked away, not bothering to keep his voice down.
"Don't be rude," Kurt chastised.
"He was flirting with you," Sebastian pointed out and Kurt just rolled his eyes as he opened his menu to survey the food options.
"You're being paranoid," Kurt told him. "He's a waiter, he's just being friendly. That's part of his job. I'm sure he behaves that way with everyone."
"Seb, baby, you're crazy hot when you're jealous," Jesse sniggered, Blaine laughing along with him before they turned their attentions to their menus.
Somewhat sulkily, Sebastian perused the menu mulling over what he would like to eat. All four had come to a decision when Philip returned carrying a tray of their drinks. He carefully placed Kurt's drink down first before setting Jesse and Blaine's drinks before them. Finally, he set Sebastian's drink down with a little too much force so that some of it spilled over the rim and dripped onto Sebastian's trousers.
"Are you ready to order?" Philip asked taking out his notepad again, ignoring Sebastian's murderous stares. He scribbled down Jesse and Blaine's orders before taking Kurt's.
"Excuse me," Sebastian interrupted after taking a sip of his drink. "This is water. I ordered lemonade."
"Oh, my apologies," Philip said. "I'll have that corrected for you."
"Yes, you will," Sebastian replied.
"Be nice," Kurt hissed at him kicking him in the shin.
"And your order, sir?" Philip asked with his pen poised to write it down.
Sebastian made his order then passed the glass of water back to Philip, making sure to spill some of it down the waiter's uniform.
"Don't forget my lemonade, Philip," Sebastian said with a very forced smile.
"Coming right up," Philip responded coldly.
"Could you be any more rude and arrogant?" Kurt asked with a huff.
"Oh trust me, he really, really can," Jesse informed him.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Sebastian lied. "As far as I'm concerned I'm behaving in a most delightful manner."
"You're unbelievable," Kurt sighed.
"And you're completely naïve," Sebastian retorted. "I know what flirting looks like, Kurt; I am well practiced in it. That waiter is undressing you with his eyes. Jesse, Blaine, back me up here."
"He's just a waiter," Jesse pointed out. "No need to feel threatened. He's here to serve us our food and drinks, nothing more."
"But he's totally checking Kurt out," Sebastian insisted. "That's just unprofessional and despicable."
"He is not checking me out," Kurt said. "Tell him, Jesse, Blaine."
"Well… he was looking at you a lot," Blaine admitted. "And he's looking over at you now," he said and they all looked across the room to find that Philip was indeed gazing over at Kurt.
"See, I told you," Sebastian claimed triumphantly.
"Its still no excuse for you to be so rude," Kurt reasoned.
Sebastian scowled and Kurt sipped at his drink well Jesse and Blaine whispered into one another's ears, constantly smiling, frequently laughing and occasionally stealing small kisses.
"Your lemonade," Philip declared setting the drink on the table in front of Sebastian.
"Thank you," Kurt said on Sebastian's behalf and Philip winked at him again before turning away.
Lifting the glass, Sebastian inspected it from every angle before sniffing at it suspiciously.
"I don't want it," he decided setting the drink back on the table. "He probably spat in it or urinated or something."
"Of course he didn't, don't be so childish," Kurt told him.
"I'm sure it's fine, Seb," Blaine said reassuringly.
"I disagree," Jesse spoke up. "He probably did something to it. Want some of my iced-tea?"
"Yeah, ok," Sebastian said reaching for the drink.
"Tough, it's mine," Jesse smirked at him before draining the iced-tea in one long mouthful.
"I loathe you," Sebastian sighed.
"Love you too, Bas," Jesse grinned before returning his attention to Blaine, the two holding hands atop of the table.

Their meals arrived and once again Sebastian glared hatefully at Philip as he eye-fucked Kurt.
"Before we leave I'm going to make a formal complaint to his manager," Sebastian said as Philip sauntered off.
"Will you stop being so immature so we can at least try to enjoy our meals and what's left of our date?" Kurt asked exasperatedly.
"You're not having a good time?" Sebastian asked suddenly feeling worried.
"Not particularly, no," Kurt answered honestly. "Are you?"
"I suppose not," Sebastian admitted. "But only because of that pervert."
"Sebastian, just eat your dinner," Kurt instructed with a sigh.
Across the table, Jesse and Blaine were feeding one another as they gazed happily into one another's eyes. It looked as though they were having a perfect first date. Maybe they were. But maybe it didn't matter. Sebastian watched them enviously for a while, wishing that Kurt was having as good a time as they were.
"Here, you should try this," Sebastian said cutting up a piece of his meat and offering it to Kurt. Kurt opened his mouth to accept the forkful of food but Sebastian accidentally stabbed his chin. "Sorry, here," he apologised quickly fumbling for the napkin to wipe the food off of Kurt's face.
"It's fine, I've got it," Kurt huffed snatching the napkin off of him and cleaning himself up.
Sebastian slumped in his seat feeling that the night had been a complete failure. It didn't help that his food seemed to be void of any real taste.
"I'm going to the bathroom," Sebastian declared as he set his knife and fork down.
He entered the gentlemen's' restroom and rested his hands on the middle sink, surveying himself in the mirror. Not long after, the door opened and Jesse waltzed in.
"Tonight's a disaster," Sebastian laughed derisively. "I'm doing everything wrong. And there you are with Blaine, doing everything right and having a perfect night."
"Seb, you're putting too much pressure on yourself," Jesse reasoned. "And you're stressing over that blonde waiter too much. So what if he's flirting with Kurt? He's just the waiter. You're Kurt's date."
"Yeah, some date," Sebastian remarked bitterly.
"Sweetie, you just need to relax," Jesse told him. "If you try to hard for a perfect date then you will never get it right. Same with a performance. If you try too hard or over-rehearse then you're all the more likely to miss a step or a lyric and fail. Think about it, our traditional side-stepped routines have never gotten us that far in competitions. But when we do more adventurous choreography, something more lose and less controlled and perfect… we do better."
"What? Jesse, I'm not like you. I don't need to relate everything to performing." Sebastian said. "Can't you say something else to make me feel better?"
"Do you know why I'm having a good time tonight?" Jesse asked and Sebastian shrugged. "Because I'm with Blaine, my friend. He's not some new person in my life that I'm desperate to impress. He isn't a judge scrutinizing me to determine whether or not I'm worthy of a first place position. He's my friend, he's Blaine. I'm having a good time because I'm comfortable with him. You should be comfortable with Kurt. You know him, you like him, and he likes you too. There's no reason to get so stressed. Being on this date with Kurt shouldn't be too different to you having dinner with me or Blaine. With Kurt there are just the extra perks of being able to make-out at the end of the night. Now, I'm going back to enjoy the rest of my night with Blaine. Are you coming too or are you going to stay hiding in the men's toilets?"
Wordlessly, Sebastian followed Jesse out and returned to their table sitting down beside Kurt. Picking up his fork, he prodded at his food some more before managing a few mouthfuls of his tasteless dinner.
"You're really not enjoying that are you?" Kurt guessed.
"It tastes so… bland," Sebastian complained.
"Why don't we get out of here?" Kurt asked setting his own knife and fork down. "Go back to Dalton and just order a pizza?"
"What about yours?" Sebastian asked indicating to Kurt's plate.
"I'm not really enjoying it either," Kurt admitted. "It looks and sounds fancy but it tastes… so… so… blah. Honestly, I'd much prefer takeout."
"You boys done?" Sebastian asked looking to Jesse and Blaine who had pretty much cleared their plates.
"Yeah, we're good," Blaine nodded.
"Great. Cheque please?" Sebastian asked and Kurt snapped his fingers in the air.
Philip approached their table with their bill and the four teens argued a little before agreeing to split the cost between the four. Once they had paid, Sebastian waited for their change and made a point of not giving Philip a tip. Heading out of the restaurant, they returned to Sebastian's car and drove back to Dalton, Kurt getting out his phone and ordering pizza on the way.

Back on school grounds, Jesse and Blaine made their goodbyes and headed up to the school hand-in-hand. Kurt and Sebastian waited in the parking-lot for their pizza to be delivered, the two of them dancing under the moonlight just as they had done earlier in the evening.
"This wasn't really the date I had in mind," Sebastian said. "I'm sorry."
"It doesn't matter," Kurt shrugged. "And it wasn't that bad." Sebastian quirked an eyebrow in disbelief. "Well, ok, it was pretty diabolical. But it could have been worse. And the night isn't over yet. The restaurant may have been a mistake but I'm certainly enjoying myself now."
"And so you should," Sebastian said arrogantly. "Not everybody gets a date with someone as good-looking as me."
"I guess that makes me special," Kurt mused. "Of course, I always knew I was. My supreme fabulousness is quite rare."
"You're almost as cocky as me," Sebastian laughed.
"Not bad for a former public school attendee, huh?" Kurt asked.
"Kurt, I need to be honest with you about something," Sebastian said quietly. "I've never told anyone before. Not even Blaine or Jesse."
"What is it?" Kurt asked as their gentle dancing coming to a halt.
"I… well the truth is… I," Sebastian sighed struggling to get his confession out. "Before Dalton, before I lived in Paris, before… before what happened with my parents… I…"
"Yes?" Kurt prompted waiting with bated breath.
"I went to public school," Sebastian admitted with his eyes screwed tightly shut.
Kurt burst into laughter.
"Yeah, yeah, it's hilarious, ha, ha, ha," Sebastian said. "But don't you dare tell anyone else. My reputation would be ruined."
A few minutes later, their pizza arrived and Kurt was still letting out the occasional burst of giggles. The laughing fits continued as they walked up to Sebastian's room and carried on as they ate their pizza.
