Part 19: Valentine's Day.
I have finally finished a new chapter for this story, sorry it took so long but I've been busy lately but I can say this chapter will probably answer the questions I posed in the last chapter, also I hope to finish this story soon, not saying how much is left but it should be done soon, if I don't go on a tangent. Anyway I hope you enjoy the chapter and please feel free to review and tell me what you thought and how I can improve. I don't own resident evil but I do own my characters.
The truck tossed and turned as it rolled towards the man's compound. Every few hundred yards the truck would nearly roll over as we hit a large rock. I wanted to climb off the back of the truck but I knew that I couldn't. So as we bounded off into the distance by ass and spine became so painful, I didn't think I would be able to stand up after the ride had finished.
When we arrived at the massive gates of the man's compound I became overwhelmed by the scale of the place. The walls that surrounded the place were atleast thirty feet tall lined with razor wire. The wall that greeted us on our approach had a set of guard towers at each corner, from what I could see this place had a massive amount of fire power. Machine guns in the towers and guards at the gate.
"Where the hell are we? And who the hell are you?" I asked the man through the sun roof of the truck.
"We are at a safe place and I am boss," he replied sarcastically.
"Very funny," I told him as I want back to looking around as the gates slid open and the truck rolled into the compound. The guards had their weapons raised at us as we climbed off the back of the truck. I looked at each of the guards, the first had an M4 assault rifle that had a strange attachment on the side of the barrel. I had my AK clutched tightly as the guards turned to talk to the man who drove us here.
"Take the girls to the medical wing and see if they're infected," The man told the guards as they took the guards into the maze of the complex. I looked around at the high walls, their white concrete exterior made me nervous as think about what was happening in the outside world. The compound was a hive of activity as people were constantly trying to increase the fortifications, the walls needed more wire on them or the machine guns needed more ammunition. I moved around the compound with Alice sticking close to me, she knew what I was doing and why I kept scanning the roof tops to see if there were clear views of the surrounding valley. I still wasn't certain if whatever hit the town had actually left the area.
"You two come with me," the boss ordered as he made his way into the main building of the compound. Alice and I followed him with reluctant steps his blood stained clothes made him look like he was on his last legs but his commanding voice sounded like he was more than capable of command. As we made our way through the complex I noticed that this place was not the type of place a man would just own, the weapons in the armouries, medical supplies and the general order of the place.
"Where the hell are we?" I demanded as we made our way into an office on the third floor of the building.
"I would answer if I didn't have my suspicions about you people," The boss began, "How is it that you came along mere minutes after Umbrella swept through the town?"
I opened my mouth about to start trying to explain but Alice got there before me, "We work for Umbrella," She told him mercilessly.
The boss jumped back and raised a pistol that was on his desk, "I shouldn't have brought you here!" He shouted as he was about to pull the trigger, the gun was aimed directly at Alice's chest, obvious what he had on his mind. As I saw his finger put more and more pressure on the trigger I could hear faint sounds of helicopter rotors in the distance. As they became clear enough to differentiate as helicopters, I could see the man's face drop. "You brought them here!" He shouted as he fired a shot from the pistol and the round passed straight past Alice and into the wall behind her.
"Maybe we did but you've been with us the whole time," Alice told him calmly as he turned white and the casing of the round bounced on the floor, she walked around the table as he was frozen in place. She plucked the pistol from his hands and placed it in her belt.
As she made her way back to me I could hear the sound of the helicopters getting closer and closer, their blades were in full gear. As I was on the cusp of speaking I hear the unmistakable sound of a missile flying through the air, I took a step forward into the room but as the soul of my boot impacted the floor, the missile slammed into the wall of the building I was in. The missile couldn't have impacted far from where we were, as the floor shook with the massive shockwave from the warhead. I tried to regain my bearings as I looked around the room.
I ran over to the boss who was still frozen like he didn't even know what had happened, "How do we get out of here?" I shouted at his face while shaking him from the scruff of his neck.
He stuttered as he started to speak, "T-t-t-the gate to the east it will take you out into the desert, I'll show you," He said as he made his way over to the window and opened the curtains but as soon as the light from outside entered the dark and dank room the, I heard the clunk of a GSh-301 chain gun as it tore into the room annihilating the boss with the high explosive rounds. Some of the frag flew towards Alice and I, I left across to Alice as I was actually wearing my body armour. When the shooting from the chain gun stopped, we scurried over to the remainder of the boss and searched his pockets. I found a key in his left pocket, which I put in the pocket on the front of my body armour.
As the helicopters circled about taking out targets with rockets and hell fire missiles Alice and I prepared to move through the building, I prepped my AK by making sure there was a round in the chamber. Alice raised her AR and went into the hallway, I followed her into the hallway as we moved the helicopters guns were hitting the roof, the rounds kept punching through to the floor just above us sending shrapnel down onto our heads.
"These rounds are getting fucking close!" I shouted to Alice as we moved down the stairs to the ground floor.
"Yeah but atleast the floors above us can absorb the rounds," She replied as I heard a faint whistling in the distance. I shoved Alice against the wall as a massive explosion rocked the stair well, I shielded her from the blast, I could feel the heat and pressure against by back. She dropped her rifle to cover her ear and I grabbed the barrel as it dropped. The explosion seemed to take forever but when it was over I stumbled backwards giving Alice back her rifle. "Thanks," She told me with a smile as we continued down the stairs.
"We need to move fast they are locked on our heat signatures," I told Alice as we made it to the first floor, "We also need to find Darius and Amy before we get the hell out." I shouted as we burst onto the first floor and we were met by a volley of automatic fire. I shot back in the direction that the fire came from. I then saw some people in jeans scramble away so I assumed they were not the Umbrella forces of mass destruction.
As we pressed down the hallway over towards the exit but as we did Darius and Amy charged out of a room on the left, "Darius, weren't you being guarded?" I asked him.
"We were but then they ran from gunfire down the hallway," He told me as we moved outside.
"We need to move now then!" Alice shouted as she moved carefully outside. It was a sandstorm from the blow of the helicopters, you could not see more than two feet infront of you. I lost sight of Alice but I quickly found her and we made our way over to where we thought they had left the vehicle. When we got to the car and tried to open the door but we couldn't, I raised the butt of my AK, smashed the cars window and opened the door getting Amy and Darius into the vehicle I then passed them a radio from a dead man that was slumped down by the car.
"Go move listen to the radio put it on the emergency frequency and respond to calls," I shouted to him as the car hummed into life.
"What about you?" Darius asked me.
"We'll follow after we clear these guys off," Alice told him.
"You're lying!" He shouted.
"Just go Darius get Amy out!" I ordered to him as I raised my AK and fired a burst at the helicopter that was hovering above the main building in the compound. I heard the engine of the car rev as the cloud of dust became thicker once again as the car sped off out of the compound. I turned my attention to the helicopter which had lowered ropes onto the top floor of the main building.
"Alice, we've got troops incoming!" I shouted across to her as she looked up at the same chopper.
"Yeah but both sides are hostile, and we are caught in the middle!" She replied as she hammered a magazine out towards the dropping Umbrella troopers. As she reloaded I made my way over to the main entrance to the building. She tapped me on the shoulder as a sign to enter the building. As I turned the corner and entered the building I was met by a barrage of fire. I immediately ran to the other side of the door, "You alright?" Alice asked sounding worried.
"Yeah I'm good, bit shaken but I can still fight," I told her as we both appeared around the corner and fired at the people who shot at us. I saw one drop to the floor clutching his arm and another drop lifelessly to the floor. After a few short bursts the room was clear and we started to move to the stairs. As we peaked around the edge of the stairs pieces of concrete smashed into my body armour. I could feel the ceramic plate dent under the force of the rounds, knocking me back stumbling but as I cleared the path Alice started to hammer rounds up the staircase towards whatever was firing but after a long burst she stopped. After a few seconds a body dropped from the upper floors down past us. He had bullet holes in his back from an 8mm pistol round.
I looked up the stairs with my rifle pointed in my line of sight, as I stepped up a few steps a man clad in black covered with webbing, he had a gas mask over his face and an MP7 shouldered and ready to fire. I opened up on him before he could get the drop on me and he slumped at the top of the stairs. As I pressed up I kicked his gun from his hand, Alice came and joined me at the entrance to the first floor. She tapped me again telling me I should enter, but just as I put my hand on the handle an explosion rocked the interior of the building and blew the door off its hinges. The explosion threw me to the floor as another trooper came flying out of the room at me grabbing me by the wrist and locking my arm behind me. Alice attempted to clunk him to get him off of me but as she went to butt them their hand grabbed the rifle and threw her backwards. I heard the trooper pull a sidearm as if he was about to execute me but as he did a female voice stopped him.
"Stop trooper!" The woman said as her heels clacked along the floor.
"No!" Alice shouted in shock obviously she could see the woman.
"Shut up!" the woman demanded as she kicked Alice to the floor causing her to drop her gun. I could hear the metallic clank as it bounced along the floor.
"Sir, we have confirmation!" The woman shouted into a radio.
"Good," The voice from the radio replied.
"Two thirty six get up!" The woman ordered to the man on my back.
"Yes ma'am," They replied in a familiar voice, I was dragged to my feet at gun point but as I was swung round to see the woman in a purple skin tight suit, trimmed in black. She had her stiletto heel dug into Alice's leg which was causing blood to pour out of her onto the floor. As I looked up the woman I recognised her.
"Why Jill?" Alice called out in agony.
"Quiet!" Jill replied as she smashed Alice over the head with a handgun, knocking her unconscious.
I heard the trooper put his gun away as and rip off his gas mask, "What do we do with these?" He asked as he put his mask in his combat pants.
"We hold them until command sends us the extraction!" Jill shouted at him.
"Jill don't you recognise us!" I screamed at her but after I did the trooper span me around putting his sidearm right in my face, I was so fixated on the gun that I couldn't focus on him. I could see the rifling within the pistol, I could just about make out the silvery round in the chamber. The tan coloured plastic exterior of the glock looked worn out where the gun had been used continuously. I recognised the tan plastic and the black ejection port. My face dropped when I did, this was Spyder's Glock 17.
"Shut it!" He told me as he clunked me over the head knocking me out.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter I will be finishing the story soon, please review and tell me what you thought and how I can improve. So until the next chapter…. PEACE!
