Chapter 3: Slytherin boys are thicker than concussed trolls
Roxanne's POV
Should I go with the fingerless gloves, or the standard gloves? I was standing in Quality Quidditch Supplies checking out their glove section. My old ones came apart during a late night practice.
"Need any help?" an over eager boy of about nineteen asked.
"No thanks, I think I got it" I replied.
"We just got new temperate-detecting chaser gloves. They heat up during the winner and keep your hands cool during the summer" shop assistant said.
"I play beater" I replied. I choose the fingerless ones. "Ring these up for me."
I continued to look around the shop. I was looking at shin guards.
"Well, well look who it is."
My stomach rolled. That voice belonged to Neil Nott, captain of the Slytherin team.
I turned around. Nott wasn't alone. On either side of him were Caleb Warrington and Gordon Goyle.
"Ready to get annihilated next week?" Goyle asked with a thick slur. No he wasn't drunk, he always spoke like that.
"It's sad to think that you actually believe you can beat us. The last time Slytherin beat Gryffindor was in 1997" when death eaters took over the school.
"Things are about to change this year Weasley" Nott said.
"The Cannons have a higher chance of winning the Nation Cup than you have of beating us." I grabbed a pair of shin guards in my size and started to walk away.
One of the guys hit my bum as I walked by.
I drew my wand and spun around. "Do that again and I'll curse you into oblivion."
"Couldn't help myself" Warrington said holding up his hands "I got grabby hands, it goes well with being a chaser" and he had the nerve to wink at me.
Grossness, I shivered and then stalked over to the check-out stand. I paid for my purchases all the while the Slytherins were lurking at me.
I headed to the three broomsticks where I found Lily Potter sitting at a table by herself. I ordered two butterbeers and sat down across from her.
"Where's Rose?" I asked.
"Molly set her up on a date with Ben Cassells" Lily replied.
Ben Cassells? I think he's the weird little brother of Molly's boyfriend Sam.
"Clara?"
"Detention with Corner. She got into a fist fight with Ginger Reeds during transfiguration yesterday."
"Lucy? Mols?"
"No idea."
"I can't believe we promised you a good time in Hogsmeade and then we all ditched you. Have you been to honeydukes yet? Parvati's?"
"Nope and nope."
"That won't do. Come on. First batch of chocolate is on me"
Lily groaned. "I don't want to move it's warm in here."
"I'll place a heating charm on your jumper. Let's get moving"
Just then the waitress came to our table with our drinks.
"Can we leave after we drink these?"
"Okay" I shrugged, "a Hogsmeade visit isn't a Hogsmeade visit without butterbeer"
We stopped at Parvati's first. While Lily bought a few hair accessories I picked out a cute gold scarf. According to the shopkeeper it bought out the gold flecks in my eyes. I wasn't sure I believed it but I got it any way. Next we went to Honeydukes or as I like to call it Slice of Heaven. I love this shop. We bought chocolate for everyone and by the time we left it was raining.
I pulled out my wand ready to summon an umbrella when suddenly it stopped raining.
We both looked up to see someone holding an umbrella over us.
"You ladies need an escort?" Mark Wilson asked.
"No thanks" I replied automatically.
"We'll take this though" Lily took the umbrella from his hands.
Lily and I giggled as he just stood there as we walked away.
"Dom was right, boys are easy" Lily said.
"It could be worse, he could be a Slytherin boy" I replied.
"What's wrong with Slytherin boys?"
"They're thicker than concussed trolls" I replied and we burst into giggles again.
