CHAPTER-32: REGRETS AND RESERVATIONS

Zero was cautious as he followed Kaname down the stairs and into the living room, where Juri had summoned them. The silverette was still getting used to his new senses, them made him feel like it was a deferent world he was now living in. He could now hear and smell everything that was around him like it was just in front of his face, his eyesight was now so sharp he could see a snowflake hit the floor half a mile away and his head was reeling with all these new sensations. But none of them where as powerful as the taste of Kaname's blood on his tongue or the feel of his firm lips moving against his own. Zero felt his face warm up a blush spread across his cheeks from the thought of Kaname kissing him, but he quickly pushed it away and composed himself.

The two vampires stepped through the large double wooden doors and into the lounge area. They where both greeted by the whole of Kaname's family and Kain all sat patiently around a coffee table in wait.

"Ah, Zero. How are you feeling, Dear?" Juri asked cheerfully when she saw them enter. The silverette just shrugged his shoulders as a reply. In all honesty he didn't really know how he was feeling, everything was so knew to him he couldn't tell what was right or what was wrong. The mother vampire decided not to push him to answer the question and instead offered him a cheerful smile instead. A second later there was a knock at the door and Juri hurried off to answer it.

"So, Kaname, are you and Zero going to be sharing a room now that your blood bonded?" Yuki asked with a Cheshire like grin on her face as she watched the blush form on Zero's pale face. But her brother merely smiled at her and placed his hand comfortingly upon the boy's shoulder.

"Only if Zero wishes so." The pureblood prince answered honestly as he smiled down at Zero, who returned the gesture.

"Hi!" Cross called out as he stepped into the lounge, followed by a tall man with shoulder length, raven hair and wearing a distinctive eye patch over his right eye. Zero looked up to Kaname and pulled a puzzled face as if asking "Hey, what's going on?" But the brunette only retuned to look and shrugged.

"Zero, Cross has come here today because he has a surprise for you." Haruka stated after seeing the two boys pass their questioning look.

"Everyone, I would like to introduce Yagari Touga." Cross informed, before stepping back so that the taller man could come forwards.

"Hey." Yagari greeted the room, before bending down before the silverette boy, so that they where face to face. "Zero, I'm a hunter like Cross. I've been working for the assassination for years and I used to work with your mother." The raven haired man stated.

Zero's eyes widened as this new information sunk in. The boy had so many questions that he wanted to ask, but he just didn't know where to start. " What was she like? What happened to her? Did he have more family out there anywhere?" And that was just the start. The silverette had so many question he felt like he was about to burst.

"I was Saeko's partner. We trained together when we first joined the association and where later paired together when we graduated from the academy. I fought by her side over sixteen years, and I was beside her on that fateful night that she was captured by Rido. And I will never forgive myself for not being able to save her." Yagari explained sadly and with a slum look on his face.

"Please, Sir. Tell me what happened." Zero asked, politely pleading. He felt he had to know everything that he could possibly learn about her, even when he knew he would not like the conclusion.

"Would you two like to talk alone?" Juri questioned kindly, thinking that both males may have some tears to shed and she wished to save them the embarrassment of an audience.

"I'm ok, thank you." Zero answered with a nervous smile.

"Very well." Yagari said as he took a seat on the sofa across from where Zero and Kaname where sitting. The association had assigned us to track down a group of noble vampires working for Rido. They had been kidnapping human children and sucking them dry, leaving only the dried out bodies for us to collect." Yagari paused in his story, obviously reliving so painful and disturbing memories. With a sigh and a shake of his head, as if shaking the thoughts from his mind. "We got a lead and went off to find the bastards, only they where waiting for us. We where ambushed. Beaten down before we even knew what hit us. They took Saeko back for interrogation. Left me in an ally with my guts hanging out and drowning in my own blood. Heck, I even lost my eye in that fight. Another hunter found me and took me to help. I spent the next three months in a coma. But as soon as I got out I began to search for her. I spent every waking hour looking. But I never found a trace." The tall hunter informed grimly, the pain and self loathing, dripping from his voice.

"Don't punish yourself, Yagari." Cross said, while placing a supportive hand on the other hunter's shoulder. "After seven years, Saeko was pronounced deceased by M.I.A. It wasn't until the Kurans found you and Kain filled us in on the what he knew, that we found out what had happened to her." Cross concluded for his associate.

"I'm so sorry, Zero. I swear I did all I could to find her. I would give my own life a hundred times over to bring her back." Yagari told the boy, his voice sincere.

"I don't blame you!" Zero exclaimed, shocking everybody in the room at his abruptness. Yagari's looked on in amazement at the silver haired boy before him. The hunter just couldn't understand why the boy had said those words. If he was in the kid's place, he would resent the man who had failed to save his mother, yet here the boy was, telling him that he didn't blame him. He had only know one person in his life who was capable thinking that way, and her name was Saeko Kiryu. Yagari chuckled slightly to himself "Oh, yes. Saeko, he is defiantly your son." The raven haired hunter smiled.

"Zero. I have a proposition for you." Yagari informed, getting the attention of everybody in the room. " I wish to make you my apprentice and train you to be a hunter." He continued confidently, before leaning back in his seat, waiting for a reply.

"What? I c-cant be a hunter. I'm no-not hu-hu-" Zero stuttered out in shock, but was cut off by Kaname when he could no longer get the words out.

"Zero's one of us now. He was always been a half-breed, but his vampire side is now beginning to awaken and is now the more dominant." Kaname explained calmly, but there was a warning hidden in his chocolate coloured eyes.

"I'm fully aware of the situation. But Zero is, and always will be, half human. He has the blood of one of the purest and finest hunter families running through his veins. He has already proven that he has what it takes to take up a hunters arms." Yagari summarised smugly. Kaname found it unbelievable how quickly this man's domineer had changed simply by a slight change of topic.

"How so?" The pureblood prince demanded, curiosity seeping into his voice.

"The weapons that Zero found." Cross informed, but that only earned him more puzzled looks. "The weapons where hunter arms. More specifically, Death Dealer weapons. The most powerful weapons a hunter can wield. They are genetic arms, meaning that only a direct member of the same blood line can inherit them. We've been looking through the records and, the Bloody Rose and the Artemis Rod, both belonged to the Kiryu clan, or more specifically, to Saeko Kiryu herself." The blond haired hunter explained.

"And with the newly awakened abilities, Zero now possesses. I believe that I could train him to be the most powerful hunter the world has ever seen." Yagari told them confidently.

"Perhaps. But Zero is still one of us now. I do not believe that the hunter association will take kindly to this. And I am positive that the vampire council will have something to say about it." Kaname informed, watching the one eyed man intently.

"The association is my problem. And the council of bloodsuckers can go fuck them selves for all I care." The raven haired hunter spat, before standing up and crossing his arms. "Zero, I wont push you to make a decision how. After all you've had a lot to take in already. But let me know when you come to a decision." Yagari said, looking over his shoulder at the boy momentarily, before walking to the door and leaving them all with a wave of his gloved hand.

"Well, he seems friendly." Kain stated sarcastically, as the rest of the room could looked on in bemused silence.

"Ok, Maybe not my best chapter, but I thought this was a good was to introduce Yagari.
