Chapter 14: Fairy Tail VS Shadow Claw!
Lucy heard a familiar voice in her head, but what on earth was it saying? "Key… grab Cancer's key…!" Cancer was one of her spirits… right? Her wrists, no, her entire body hurt. Her chocolate eyes snapped open and she subconsciously twisted the key and wearily said, "Open gate of the giant crab, Cancer!"
Her spirit emerged, confidently grasping a dual pair of sharp scissors. Without a word, he quickly went to work at helping Loke free Lucy from the deadly tangle of vines. Soon, her body was nearly completely freed, and Leo gingerly pulled her battered body from the remaining plants.
Cancer disappeared with an 'ebi' and the King of the Zodiac laid his master on the ground. He then pulled Plue from the vine he'd stuck himself in and placed him on her stomach. From behind him, the brawl between Natsu and Helga heated up. Literally.
"How dare you!" Natsu hollered his anger as hot as the flames that surrounded his body. "I'm going to turn you into ash!" He launched himself at the enemy and swung both of his fists at her face. Helga narrowly escaped his searching flames.
While it was uncharacteristic of Helga to not run from a fight, this time, she had her own, selfish reasons to stay on top of her boss's orders. She was going to crush the fiends of Fairy Tail that had humiliated her so many times before.
She breathed in deeply and blew on a pair of seeds in her hands, supplying them with carbon dioxide; strengthening them greatly. The seeds sprouted almost immediately, before they turned into ugly, masses of plant matter. They then grew into several monsters. Natsu didn't bat an eyelash; he only charged into the fray, determined to blow past the creatures and destroy the one lying in wait behind them.
"Fire dragon's roar!" His fire incinerated half of the monsters, and the remainder seemed to quail at the sight. Natsu would show no mercy. One sweep of both of his arms sent flames barreling at the leafy beasts, and they scrambled to escape. One strayed from the fight and would've crushed Lucy if not for Loke, who instantly defeated the thing with a blast from Regulus.
Helga glared through her remaining creature at the pink haired boy that was destroying her plans of revenge. Sure, she'd nearly managed to kill the Blonde, but this one… this one made her very angry. She let out a scream of frustration and sent vines around her creation at him, but Natsu leapt into the air; dodging with ease.
When the fire dragon slayer was angry, (which he definitely was after seeing the condition Lucy was in) nothing would stop him from taking out the major threat. He roared again, abolishing all of the projectiles and Helga's last beast.
"Fire Dragon Secret Art, Crimson Lotus: Exploding Flame Blade!" He could've destroyed the entire town of Magnolia, his rage was so vast, but instead, Natsu made himself use just enough force to hit Helga, and kept the rest inside of him. He could always vent out his frustrations later.
Preferably on Gajeel.
So, while keeping the darker side of his ire in check, he unleashed tendrils of powerful fire at the woman that opposed him, beating her and sealing her fate with one fell swoop. Helga fell to the ground in an unsightly heap, her last thoughts before dropping into an unconscious state of her failure.
*In Clover*
It's uncertain as to how long the group of them stood in the clearing, staring at the sky where the last remains of Tono had disappeared. Levy carefully eased her smaller hand into Gajeel's and squeezed softly, breaking the trance of silence that had previously draped over them.
Now instead of staring into endless blue, they were all looking at each other. Suddenly, Ryomo cleared her throat. "We're going to hand Nyx and ourselves over to the Magic Council," her voice wavered. "We all need to pay for some of the things that we've done. I wish you guys a safe journey home."
Levy was going to protest against their newfound allies also turning themselves in, but Ryomo saw and quieted her with a soft smile. She and Zack left, with Nyx roughly slung over the latter's shoulder. The Fairy Tail team watched them slink out of sight.
"I guess we should start heading back then?" Gajeel proposed to his team mates. Before either could respond they were interrupted by a giant gust of wind that knocked Levy's light form into Gajeel, who managed to snag Pantherlily with his free hand.
"What was that?!" Lily shouted over the noise of the gale. His question was answered mere seconds later when an exhausted Wendy dropped out of the sky, Carla following shortly after. It took a minute for the sky mage to catch her breath, and when she could finally speak she revealed extremely worrying news to the trio standing in front of them.
"It's a good thing Carla had that vision; we need your help. Fairy Tail's under attack by Shadow Claw!" This bit of information made Gajeel's eyes widen and Levy gasp a little. "We've got one way to get you back, and that's with some help from our friends." Wendy motioned to the sky proudly, and their eyes rested on a large ship riding the clouds a very short distance away.
"Here's your guys' ticket home, the reformed Christina!" The ship was majestic from its position in the sky, and it soon began to descend. "It's the only, and fastest, way home for us five. Let's go!" Wendy led the way throw gnarls of trees and bushes, and Valletta was left behind them.
Ahead laid a promising battle against a dark guild that had decided to show them no mercy. Shadow Claw was looming over Fairy Tail, a threat to them and their city. Every magician was needed for the battle; every one of them would need to do their best.
May the best guild arise as victor.
*In the Streets of Magnolia*
The scene was like a bad replay of Laxus' teenage rebellion phase; Fairy Tail scattered throughout Magnolia, squaring off against other wizards with their magic at the ready. At least this time they weren't trying to defeat themselves…
Shadow Claw's Master, who was also Ryomo's father, strode through the city like he owned it, easily crushing those who tried to oppose them. The Fairies would pay, and that was final. They had made a fool out of his dark guild, and had significantly decreased their influence in the Balam Alliance.
In front of his straight line path, a younger man with raven hair stood in his way, hands held in a threatening position. "I can't allow you to come any further to my guild," he said bravely, glaring at the older man walking towards him.
Baron scoffed and raised his hand at the boy, letting loose a powerful torrent of water. To his astonishment, the boy froze the attack and it dropped onto the pavement; shattered, useless. A growl of slight frustration slipped past his lips as he reevaluated the opponent.
Maybe this raven haired boy was a much stronger advisory than he'd originally thought.
Erza was truly a force of untouchable nature. She whirled like a tornado, knocking back enemies with ease and making most run for safer side streets. Her scarlet hair for which she was named billowed behind her as her sword felled another foe. She turned to seek out another, when she ducked to avoid someone's incredibly strong kick.
Instead of hitting Erza, the attacker drilled their foot into the building behind her, causing great amounts of dust to billow out from that area. When the debris cleared, she was able to make out the muscular form of her offender.
The man was ripped to the max, his legs more so than his arms. His eyes were tiny, and his eyebrows large; like caterpillars. He was wearing a (disturbing) purple leotard type thing, which was honestly much too tight. His thin hair was a vibrant orange that spilled over his ugly sweatband. All in all, he looked very much like a possible rejected member of the Jiggle Butt Gang, kind of.
"I'm Josh, and you're soon going to be tasting that dirt under those nice boots of yours!" He waggled his oversized brows at her, but Erza wasn't very amused at all. She glared evenly at the man, taking him as a serious adversary.
"Please, do your best," she said sternly, before launching herself at the unprepared man. He'd just earned himself a grade A butt whooping from an all too eager Erza. Josh crossed his strong arms in front of his face in a shield formation, and Erza's sword bounced right off. She stared, bewildered, before she changed strategies.
Her sword was requipped for two long, thin bamboo poles, and her normal armor was exchanged for a sarashi and the flame pattered hakama. Now that she was lighter without the weight of normal armor slowing her down, she easily dodged all of Josh's strong attacks.
Soon, Josh grew frustrated, and his offense grew more and more sloppy. Erza grinned inwardly and quickly disabled him, her bamboo poles crossed right before his chin. He gulped audibly, not daring to move. "Now, Josh," Erza said calmly. "I'm sorry you've underestimated the might of Fairy Tail." With her statement said, she knocked him out easily and let him slump to the ground.
A stream of scarlet followed the woman as she leapt away from the area, ready to take on whoever may come next.
