Thanks so much to everyone who's commented on this story so far! I love hearing from you, and each review I get makes me extremely happy :)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this new story! I was going to write this three days ago, but my brother was born and so I've been busy. I've literally had no free time recently :p and it doesn't help that I have to start packing 'cause i'm moving in a few days.
Chapter 3
Legolas up bright and early the next morning. He couldn't remember getting back into bed, but he did have pleasant memories of the previous night. As soon as he was up and ready though, he sped into the halls to see if the twins were awake.
"Man erin Legolas," Elladan greeted the young prince as he walked into the dining hall. Both of the twins had a huge grin on their faces. "Did you sleep well?"
Legolas nodded, taking a seat at the long table across from them. He looked at the food in front of him. It all looked good, so he took a little bit of everything. The two older elves laughed when they saw his full plate. "Hungry are we?" Elrohir teased. The younger elf turned slightly red but gave a slight smile. As he took a bite of food, the twins leaned in as if to tell him a secret.
"So we were talking after you fell asleep last night-"
"And we mentioned how energetic of an elfling you are-"
"We could really use you to-"
"Help us come up with a good prank," Elrohir finished off.
Legolas stared at them. They spoke quickly, so it took a moment for their words to sink in. He blinked before thinking. He grinned. "Sure! Who will we be pranking?"
Elladan pointed to a blonde elf that looked as though he was a warrior of some sort. "You see him? His name's Glorfindel. We've been plotting a series of revenge for some time now."
The elfling gave them a curious look. "Revenge? For what?"
Elrohir and Elladan griminced. "That's a story for another day.." Elladan said as his twin sighed. "Actually, best if that story isn't told.. It's rather embarrassing." Legolas giggled a little, wondering what could have been so bad that they wouldn't tell him. Maybe if he would ever get to know Glorfindel, he'd ask him.
"Okay!" The prince said enthusiastically. "What do you have in mind?"
A few hours passed, and the three pranksters were almost ready to put their plan in action. There wasn't going to be one big prank, but rather several smaller ones. And by the time they were done, no doubt Glorfindel would be after their heads!
When Legolas, Elrohir, and Elladan were seated for lunch, they were all trying their best not to laugh, smirk, grin or smile. When Glorfindel came into the dining hall and took a seat though, he could tell. He frowned slightly. "What are you up to this time?" he asked the twins.
They managed to give him an innocent look. "Us? Why nothing! What makes you think we're up to something?" Elladan said in mock surprise.
Glorfindel smiled and shook his head. "I've always been able to tell when you two are lying. Whatever it is, I do hope you aren't dragging the prince of Mirkwood into it."
This time, Legolas couldn't help but grin a little. He quickly covered it up though, by taking a bite of his food.
For the rest of the afternoon, the elfling and the twins couldn't stop laughing. First, the pranksters altered Glorfindel's arrows so they would miss the target from miles away. The look on his face when he kept missing was priceless!
Next, they put itching powder on all of his clothes, so when he went to change, he was soon itching all over.
The last thing was the best. The twins looked through Elrond's supplies and found some bottles of bright red dye. They grinned mischievously at each other as they took them and emptied a bottle in Glorfindel's hair wash.
A few hours passed and Legolas was just talking with the twins when they heard an un-elfly shriek. A moment later, Glorfindel came out of his room, a huge scowl on his face, and with his now bright red hair flowing behind him. "I was thinking that today was just a bad day, but now I know that you three were up to this! You turned my hair red!"
At that moment, Lord Elrond and Thranduil came around the corner. "Glorfindel! What has happened to your hair?" Elrond asked, though a slight smirk was coming across his face at the scene before him. The now red-headed elf pointed a finger at the three younger elfs before him.
"They did this! I'm sure of it!" he exclaimed. Everyone else was trying their hardest not to laugh. Even Thranduil was smirking.
"Elrohir, Elladan, a word please?" Their father asked, still trying not to laugh. The twins glanced warily at each other before following him. Glorfindel went back off to his room to attempt to get the red dye out, leaving Legolas with Thranduil.
The elf-king looked his son in the eyes. He raised an eyebrow. "When you were taking part in.. pranking.. Glorfindel, did you keep in mind that we are guests here?"
The young prince looked down, suddenly feeling ashamed. He didn't even think about that.. Surly Lord Elrond wouldn't allow him back here.. And if he did, his ada wouldn't.. "Something like this should really deserve a punishment-"
Legolas frowned, knowing what was coming next. He was taken by surprise though, when his father smiled. "-But I will let it slide this time. You are young, I will let you enjoy this aspect of childhood. And I have to admit- it was rather amusing."
A smile appeared on the young elfling's face. His ada wasn't mad! He just hoped that Elrohir and Elladan's ada wasn't angry at them.
Thranduil put a hand on Legolas' shoulder. "We leave at dawn tomorrow," he said. This caused Legolas to frown again. He was having fun here, and he really liked the twins. Why did they have to leave so soon?
Seeing the look on his son's face, he smiled kindly. "Don't worry. You will be able to visit another time. I must get back to Mirkwood though, they need their king."
The young prince grinned. He couldn't wait till that time would come. Rivendell already felt like a second home to him.
