Hey guys! Thanks to everyone who reviewed and favorited/followed this story so far! You guys are literally the best :)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Ps. This chapter takes place when Legolas is the equivalent of a human 10 year old.

Chapter 4

Legolas was super excited. Thranduil finally said he was good enough to practice archery. Sure, he had held a bow before, but he had been too young to have good aim or the strength required to use a bow. But now that he was finally old enough, he would get a personal trainer. He hoped that one day, he would be the best archer in all of Mirkwood!

After practicing for about two hours, Legolas grew tired, and went inside the palace for lunch. His trainer had taught him how to correctly aim and hold the bow. He also got to watch as his tainer demonstrated hitting a target from very far away! The young prince was in awe, and determined to do his best. He couldn't wait to kill orcs and other evil creatures when he was older..

"Legolas? How did your training go?"

Legolas looked up at the voice that had just spoken to him, interrupting his thoughts. "What? Oh!" He grinned. "It was great! I can't wait to practice again, I think I'm getting really good at it!"

Thranduil smiled. "I'm glad ion nin. I'll have to watch you practice sometime."

Legolas nodded enthusiastically. He loved to make his ada proud.

OoOoO

A year had passed since Legolas had his first archery lesson. A mere year wasn't much time at all to an elf, but the young prince had improved greatly. In fact, he was about to enter his first tournament.

The tournament wasn't a big one, it was just for the young archers around Legolas' age. It was just a chance to show them families how well they have been doing in their training, but Legolas was determined to win 1st place. If he did, he knew his ada would be super proud.

The morning right before the tournament was even busier than usual around the palace. Legolas was getting some last minute practice done in the archery range. As excited as he was, he was also nervous. What if he failed? What would his ada think of him then? The young prince had no doubt that Thranduil would be ashamed and angry of him if he failed..

A couple of hours passed and it was finally time. As Legolas walked onto the archery field with all of the other young archers, he saw Thranduil. His ada had a smile on his face, which caused Legolas to smile. He thought back to what he had told him just minutes ago: "Legolas you are the most talented young archer I have ever laid eyes on. I have no doubt you will prove yourself mightily today. Good luck ion nin."

Keeping those words in mind, he let out a deep breath as he got into his shooting stance. As soon as the archery master gave word for them to shoot, he did. Each archer had their own target and the top scorers moved to the next round. Legolas let out a silent breath as he let the arrow fly, and it hit the center of the bullseye. A grin came to his face when he saw that he made a perfect shot. All of his practice and patience seemed to be worth it.

He and 19 other archers made it to the next round. The targets were a little farther away, but Legolas still made a perfect shot. The prince and 11 others made it to round three. Legolas' nerves finally started to get to him and he only hit the edge of the bullseye. He looked down in shame, but was surprised when he still made the shot. He looked over to the stands at his ada, who was beaming with pride.

The tournament continued on for four more rounds, until only Legolas and a brown haired elf remained. They glanced at each other before turning back to the targets. Legolas' heart was beating like crazy. If he failed.. No, he couldn't bere that thought.. Not when he was so close to winning. He could do this.. He could do this!

From the stands he heard hundreds of voices calling his name, cheering him on. He could do this. He would do this. He would make a perfect shot. He would make his ada proud.

Only seconds later, the archery master called for them to take the shot. The targets were far away and swaying, making it hard for such a young elf to make a perfect shot. Legolas focused though, feeling a slight breeze pass by him. He could hear even the trees cheering him on. He then let the arrow loose, watching as it flew straight for the target. He couldn't do more than hope that it would be a perfect shot.

Legolas didn't even realise that he had shut his eyes, when he heard gasps come from the crowd and then loud cheers and applause. He opened his eyes. "And Prince Legolas of Mirkwood is the winner!" he heard a voice shout as the cheering got louder. A huge smile came to his face. He did it! He won! He turned to face his ada as a crown of leaves was set on his head. The look on Thranduil's face was that of utmost pride and joy at seeing his son accomplish this. He waved to his father, and was very surprised, when he waved back.

He had made his ada proud, and that was all he ever wanted to do.

OoOoO
