Kakarot was saved by Prince Vegeta before Master Roshi's attack could reach him. Now the two most deadliest saiyans have united to put an end to two of earth's strongest warriors. Will Master Roshi and Gohan fall? And the disappearance of Cui and his missing crew has been noticed as it changed course. Who has discovered the existence of Bardock and King Vegeta?
CHAPTER EIGHT: The Truth
PLANET COLD
King Cold sat atop his large throne. His right elbow set on the armrest with his face resting against his palm. He was surrounded with elites all around as they stood at attention. King Cold was in a foul mood after receiving news of Cui and his missing crew. They were scheduled to have arrived by now, but instead he was told the ship had changed course and communication was minimal. They tried several attempts to try and make contact but instead were responded with static. Something was wrong and there wasn't a doubt in his mind that the package being delivered had something to do with it.
Bardock, Saiyan monkey survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta. How was that possible? Frieza informed him that all the Saiyans were wiped out after he unleashed his Supernova on the planet causing it to explode. All Saiyans were on the planet during the attack. Except for Prince Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, and of course the little lone wolf runt Kakarot. Bardock was on the front lines as he was the first to die. So how was it possible he was still alive and where has he been hiding all these years? Then there's the Saiyan's King Vegeta. He too had died at the hands of his son. So how was it also possible he survived as well. Something about this wasn't adding up. Something happened that day seven years ago that the two older Saiyans survived their deaths. He will get to the bottom of this and make sure this time all Saiyans will be wiped out from existence. Even if he was to start with their offspring.
"You called for me father," said Frieza as he entered the large throne room. Zarbon and Dodoria following close behind. Elites, who were frightened with the tyrant, moved out of the way in scurry. Not wanting to look Frieza in the eyes.
Frieza reached his father. Zarbon and Dodoria taking a knee as they bowed in respect to the King of the Cold Empire. Frieza merely crossed his arms over his chest. He was annoyed for being called back to the planet when he had other things he needed to attend to. He was informed of Cui and his missing crew. He didn't see what the big deal was. Not that it involved anything to do with him. So why bother calling him back to the planet?
"What is it father? I have a busy schedule to keep," demanded Frieza.
Zarbon and Dodoria, still kneeled, exchanged glances at Frieza's blatant disregard to his father. King Cold wasn't someone you would want to anger for the man would kill without remorse.
"Good to see you too Frieza," replied the King. Not at all phased by his son's ill temper.
"Why did you have me return to the planet? It's not exactly a suitable time."
"Is that so." King Cold shifted his position on the throne as he was now sitting upright. "Don't forget Frieza I might have made you commander of a fleet of your own, but don't forget this is my empire. You work for me. Understand."
Frieza stared down his father with anger in his eyes as he said nothing. After a few seconds he finally turned away. How humiliating. How dare his father treat him in such a disrespectful manner in front of his subordinates. Nagging at him as if he was a child. How he despised his father.
King Cold smirked at his victory. "Good. Now that we have that settled. Frieza when you destroyed Planet Vegeta seven years ago you made sure all the Saiyans were wiped out am I correct."
"Why ask such a ridiculous question. Of course, I destroyed them all. They were all on the planet. All except for the four who remain under my watch."
"Really then explain how it's possible that Cui and his men found Bardock on a planet alive and well. He was captured and imprisoned inside the ship. Now Cui and his ship are missing."
"What?! You can't be serious! I destroyed him seven years ago. He was the first Saiyan to fall to my attack! He can't be alive!"
"But he is Frieza. Along with none other than the Saiyan King himself. King Vegeta also survived and there's no doubt in my mind that those two have taken over Cui's ship."
"That's not possible. This can't be. I saw them both die." Bardock and King Vegeta alive. He couldn't believe it. He annihilated them both the day he destroyed Planet Vegeta. How did they survive and where have they been hiding all these years? Retched monkeys they will pay and this time he would make sure they stay dead.
"I'm waiting for an explanation Frieza."
"Don't bother old man. He has no explanation," spoke up a new voice. This one making every elite tremble inside with fear for with this new arrival was the second deadliest after King Cold. Cooler.
Cooler made his way inside. His three-top squadron walking behind him. Salza, the captain, a large green fighter named Dore, and an amphibian like soldier named Neiz. The four walked up until they reached King Cold. Cooler's henchmen doing the same as Zarbon and Dodoria as they kneeled before the King showing their respects.
Frieza looked over towards his older brother already filled with anger. "Cooler what the hell are you doing here?!"
"Intimidated little brother," challenged the older sibling.
"How dare you."
"That's enough you two," interjected King Cold to silence his sons. "We have a Saiyan pest problem that needs to be dealt with. Any suggestions. I have already sent Raditz and Nappa to investigate the situation. They should've arrived by now."
"Not exactly a smart choice father," replied Cooler. "For sure they will try to band together and create a rebellion against us. Nappa, regardless of all this time, will never defy King Vegeta and will continue to swear his allegiance to him. Then there's the saiyan brat Raditz. He will fight by his father's side no matter what."
"That only leaves the two youngest ones. Prince Vegeta and Kakarot."
"No need for concern there father," spoke up Frieza. "Those two are under my watch. I will make sure they never encounter their fathers. I will destroy them before that ever happens."
"Oh please," shot back Cooler. "You couldn't even finish them off seven years ago." He looked over towards his father. "Allow me to take over this situation. I will go to earth and recover the boys before they are found. Then I will finish off the remaining lot of monkeys left. This time I will make sure they never return."
"You will do no such thing! This is my mission. I will stop those Saiyans."
"You sound like a child Frieza."
"Enough you two," said King Cold once again to stop his sons bickering. "Cooler go to earth and recover the saiyan brats. I'm sure that's where Bardock and King Vegeta are headed. Get to them first before they do. Stop them."
"I give you my word old man. I will stop those Saiyans."
"What?!," said Frieza in anger. "But father!"
"That's enough Frieza. I have a different task for you. Now go Cooler."
Cooler gave his brother one last look of victory as he smirked then turned away and began to walk back out. His three henchmen following behind him.
OUTERSPACE- ENROUTE TO PLANET EARTH
The hatch on Cui's ship begins to hiss then slowly slide open as it prepared to receive the new arrivals. Once the gap was wide enough both space pods slip inside landing on the large, soft circular surface used to keep the small ships from harsh landings. A few seconds pass until finally both space pods began to open. Nappa and Raditz cautiously step out as they used their scouter to pick up any power levels nearby. The numbers and symbols flashed rapidly on the small screens then stopped as nothing was the result. The loading docks was completely empty when usually this place was crowded with elites handling the condition of the ship. There was no one in sight.
"Where is everyone?," asked Raditz.
"Lunch break," replied Nappa nonchalantly.
"Highly unlikely. They work everyone like dogs like they do to us."
The two saiyans began to make their way towards the door that lead into the ship. The metal door slides open and like the loading docks the hallway was empty. They walked inside. Checking for any power levels from any survivors but like before nothing was the result. They wandered the large ship coming upon the same scene. Then they reached one section that put them on alert. One hallway was crowded with the bodies of dead elites sprawled out on the floor or against the wall. Blood staining everywhere. The walls were cracked along with the floors and ceiling. It was obvious a battle took place here.
"What happened here?," asked Raditz.
"Raditz," called out Nappa.
The young saiyan shifted his gaze over towards Nappa and saw the man looking into one of the doors that was wide open. Destroyed was a better word for it. It was obvious a prisoner was once held inside.
"Well it's obvious the package escaped."
"But who were they transferring? Who would be strong enough to take out an entire crew?"
"Maybe they underestimated the prisoner's power."
"Just who was it though?" They continued to investigate the ship and everywhere they turned a gruesome scene laid everywhere. They neared the bridge when both their scouters go off. Picking up two power levels. "Two? I thought they were only transferring one prisoner," said Raditz.
"No matter," replied Nappa as he fists his left hand and pounds it into his right palm. "We'll take them out easily. Cui and his elites are easy, but they won't be able to handle two saiyan elites. Prepare to fight."
"Right." Raditz nodded.
Just then Nappa felt the air knocked right out of him as he felt a power punch hit his stomach causing him to double over in pain. His mysterious attacker moved so fast he didn't even see him.
"Nappa!," called out the teen as he looked over at his comrade. "What happened?!" His scouter goes off once again as the mysterious fighter revealed himself.
Appearing a short distance away from the two saiyans was Bardock.
It can't be! Shock overwhelmed Raditz as he saw his father, whom he was told died on Planet Vegeta seven years ago, standing before them alive. How was it possible? He was told everyone died on the planet when it exploded. All except for Prince Vegeta, Nappa, his little brother Kakarot, and himself. So how can it be that his father is alive? Mix emotions filled him. Images of his past flashing through his mind of when they lived on Vegeta. His father was never really much of a father figure to him. Only time he ever really saw the man was when they would both be on the landing station either arriving or going. Little words rarely exchanged. He was a stranger to him, but he still looked up to him. Hoping that one day he would be stronger like his father and maybe even surpass him. Every time he looked at Kakarot he saw his father the kid was like a miniature version of the man.
"What's the matter Raditz," spoke up Bardock. Snapping the teen saiyan out of his trance. "You look like you've just seen a ghost."
Words were still hard to muster up as he was overwhelmed with shock. Pushing out of his temporary paralysis Raditz said the only word that came to mind. "… Father." The word foreign to him after so many years.
PLANET EARTH- MOUNTAIN RANGE
"Prince Vegeta," said Kakarot in a weakened tone as it caught him by surprise that the Prince came to his aid. Pulling him away just in time before the energy blast hit. The two reappeared a short distance away. Watching as the Kamehameha Wave hit nothing. Penetrating through the forest. Destroying the trees and grass. That one was one powerful attack. If Vegeta hadn't shown up he'd be defeated for sure by his weakened state.
Master Roshi, Gohan, and Krillin who were unaware of the Prince's presence watched as they waited for the smoke to clear. Within seconds it began to fade and become clear. To their shock no one was there. Was the child incinerated by the blast? He was nowhere in sight.
"Where is he?," asked Krillin as he had returned to stand at Gohan's side. The old man now standing but using Krillin to keep his balance. "Was that supposed to happen Master Roshi?"
"Hey!," shouted Prince Vegeta.
The three turned their attention to the source of the voice. They were shocked to encounter yet another warrior dressed almost similar to the saiyan child. This one wearing a more upper class set of armor for an insignia was etched on the left side of the chest plate. The same dark and sinister look as his comrade. Except this one seemed to have a more dangerous and deadly feel than the other.
"The only one allowed to kill this low level is me," said the prince as he set Kakarot down on the ground to regain his strength.
"Gee thanks," replied Kakarot with a sarcastic look and tone of gratitude on his face.
"These are the weakling who almost defeated you Kakarot. Give me a break. You should've finished them off by now."
"I let my guard down that's all."
"Sure, you did. They had time to discover your weakness. How many times have I told you about wrapping your tail around your waist."
"You can't tell me what to do."
"Of course I can. I'm the Prince of all Saiyans!"
"Yeah all four of them," shot back Kakarot.
"Why you little!" By now the two chibi saiyans had their hands into fists and staring each other down as their eyes locked preparing to fight.
At this time Master Roshi and others did nothing but stared in confusion at the two boys who looked as they were ready to pummel each other into the ground.
"Uh have they forgotten we're here?," asked Krillin.
"It appears so," replied Master Roshi. "They're more interested into fighting each other than dealing with us."
"Maybe this is our chance to escape. What are we waiting for?"
"They can trace us Krillin," added Gohan. "With those devices attached to their eyes they can locate our energy. We won't get far."
"But we got to do something."
"Uh excuse me!," shouted Master Roshi as he interrupted the boy's argument.
"What?!," shouted the two back as they looked over at the trio.
"So is this over or what?," asked Master Roshi.
Vegeta stepped in front of Kakarot. "Step back low level. Let a real warrior show you how it's done."
"No way this is my fight."
"Fine. I'll take the one on the right. The other old geezer is yours. Winner gets to take out cue ball."
"Fine by me," replied Kakarot. The two took fighter stance. By now the others took theirs as well.
Kakarot struck first as he flew towards Gohan. Right after him Vegeta charged towards Master Roshi. Kakarot struck with a punch aimed for Gohan's face. The older man brings his arms up and crisscrosses them to block. The chibi continued with a kick which Gohan also blocked. The force of the blow so powerful it sent pain throughout his body. Gohan was still weak from his previous fight against the boy he hasn't had enough time to regain his strength.
Kakarot disappears then reappears behind Gohan and struck with a spin kick hitting the man on the back. Sending him flying forward crashing into the ground.
Prince Vegeta flew towards Master Roshi. As he neared the man the young Prince disappears.
Not this again, thought Roshi to himself. Preparing for the afterimage to appear then disappear through him like it did with Kakarot. Roshi didn't expect what happened next as Vegeta reappeared in the same place in front of him and punched him in the stomach. He felt the power behind the boy's fist. Prince Vegeta continued with a combination of punches aimed at the man's stomach and chest. Using his right fist he landed a punch on Master's Roshi's face sending the martial artist falling back.
"Master Roshi! Master Gohan!," cried out Krillin as he watched his two teachers being pummeled into the ground by these two saiyan boys. He had to do something, but he couldn't move his body from the fear that was overwhelming him. He knew from the get-go he didn't stand a chance in this fight. These kids weren't normal children. They were skilled fighters and assassins who have honed their skills. Unlike him who was still learning. If he tried to challenge them for sure he would die. But still there had to be something he could do to help.
Master Roshi, who landed closer to his student, forced himself up onto his elbows and looked at Krillin. He was breathing heavily as he was exhausted, and pain shot throughout his entire body. The Kamehameha Wave took a lot out of him. "Krillin listen to me! You need to get out of here now while you still have the chance."
"What?! You can't be serious Master Roshi! I'm not leaving you guys!"
"That's not your choice to make. As your teacher I'm ordering you to leave us now! We'll distract them while you make your escape. We'll make sure you're not being followed!"
"N-no I can't. You'll die." Tears now began to swell within Krillin's eyes.
"And I won't allow for you to die." Master Roshi pushed himself up to his feet. An effort that caused the pain to increase. This kid was a lot stronger than the other one. Maybe he was the one he was sensing all along. "Now go Krillin!"
Krillin hesitated as he took one last look over towards the fights taking place, then he turned and began to sprint towards the forests. Tears flowing down his face.
Kakarot rammed his elbow into Gohan then continues with a barrage of punches and kicks. Each one landing a hit. Gathering energy as he fists his right hand he finished off with a powerful punch. Gohan was pushed back as he landed next to Master Roshi.
"Gohan you hanging in there?," questioned the old master.
"Yes, but for how much longer I don't know," answer Gohan as he was down on one knee breathing heavily. "I don't know how long I can hold out. We're at the end of our ropes and these kids aren't even close to feeling a little exhausted. What are we going to do Master Roshi?"
"Keep fighting. Give it your all Gohan and don't quit."
Meanwhile both Kakarot and Prince Vegeta stood side-by-side as they watched the two old fighters trying their hardest to stand.
"Let's finish this," said Vegeta.
"Right." Kakarot nodded.
The saiyan duo took their fighter stances then they charged straight towards Roshi and Gohan. Kakarot taking lead. He struck with a hard-right punch at Gohan. Using what little strength he had left Gohan blocked the attack using the back of his left forearm. Then he tried to counter with a punch of his own which Kakarot blocked with ease. The young saiyan then attacked with a knee aimed for the man's jaw. Gohan moved a step back to dodge. Kakarot pushed a few inches away from Gohan.
"So, you still have some fight left in you after all old man."
"I won't let you conquer this planet. I'll fight until my last breath."
Vegeta attacked Master Roshi with a fast combination of punches and kicks. The man trying his hardest to keep up with the boy as he blocked. The young Prince finished off with a spin kick to break Roshi's defenses which it did. With his front exposed Vegeta set both of his hands on the man's stomach. Gathering energy. Within seconds he unleashed an energy blast that send Roshi falling back as he slid on the ground.
"Master Roshi!," shouted Gohan as he witnessed what had just happened.
"Focus on me," said Kakarot as he charged towards Gohan striking with a punch hitting the man in his stomach. He continued his assault with a barrage of punches then finished off with a kick that sent him back also a few inches away from Master Roshi.
Prince Vegeta appeared next to Kakarot as they stood back to back. "Time to end this," he said. The two saiyans lifted opposite arms up, their hands opened as blue and white energy began to gather in their palms. "This is what happens when you cross the saiyans." The two fired their energy blasts towards Master Roshi and Gohan. The attacks combining into one as they neared the two martial artists. Roshi and Gohan prepared as they managed to push themselves up to their feet. The attack hits.
OUTERSPACE- ENROUTE TO PLANET EARTH
"Frieza has deceived you all these years," spoke King Vegeta as he stood with his arms crossed over his chest facing Raditz and Nappa. The four were gathered in the bridge of the ship. Discussing the events that took place seven years ago when Frieza betrayed them.
Nappa stood at attention as he was accustomed to when in the presence of the King. Listening in on every word as he couldn't believe what he was hearing. Frieza had betrayed them after all. An asteroid never hit the planet as it was only a lie to cover his treachery. After all those years of serving the tyrant this was how he rewarded them. It angered him that he couldn't be there to help fight against the monster, but also thankful that Prince Vegeta wasn't on the planet when it was destroyed. He swore to protect the child at all costs and that's what he did for the last seven years.
Raditz stood next to his father as he too listened in on what was being revealed to him. Not many words were said between him and his father after the encounter. They headed straight to the bridge afterwards when King Vegeta found them. All of this still felt so unreal. Here stood the former King of Planet Vegeta who they were also told died when the planet was destroyed. The man alive and well. All this time both King Vegeta and his father remained under the radar from Frieza and the entire Cold Empire. They escaped somehow which they weren't saying how they avoided death. Just that Frieza had betrayed them and he was the one who destroyed Planet Vegeta. He wanted them dead. Wiping out their entire race. But for what purpose? What did the tyrant expect to achieve from bringing their entire race into extinction? Did he fear them? Was he expecting they would betray him one day? Or was there something more that they weren't telling them.
"He was the one responsible for the attack that destroyed our home planet. He betrayed us."
"I can't believe it," said Raditz. "He really wanted to take us out, but why? We did everything he asked and, yet it wasn't good enough."
"It didn't matter what we did," replied Bardock. "He always planned on betraying us because he feared us."
Raditz looked over to his father. "Fear of what?"
"He believed we were getting too strong. Lower class warriors were reaching levels even higher than most of his elites." Images from the gruesome deaths of his fallen comrades at the hands of Dodoria flashed through his mind. The anger and hatred still there.
"There's no doubt he feared we would one day overpower him," added King Vegeta. "So, to stop from that happening he decided to end it all at once."
"By destroying the planet," finished the young teen.
King Vegeta nodded.
"That bastard," said Nappa as he fists his hands in anger. "He'll pay for what he's done."
"With the entire Cold empire at his back we don't stand a chance," said Raditz. "We'd need an army of our own to challenge him and there's not enough of us left to even come close."
"There's got to be something we can do," spoke up Nappa.
"For now," started King Vegeta. "We are headed to a planet in the north quadrant called Earth. We traced the boys to that location. We will find them and regroup. For now that is our only priority. Once we have all gathered together then we'll deal with the situation with Frieza."
"We're going to challenge him?," asked Raditz.
"We're going to war against the entire Cold Empire," replied Bardock.
"What?!," said Nappa and Raditz in unison. "You can't be serious," continued Nappa. "That's suicide. We'll die for sure."
"We must Nappa," spoke up King Vegeta. "Frieza betrayed us. He destroyed our home planet… he took my son from me and filled his head with lies. I was a fool back then and I will never forgive myself for what I did. Frieza will die at the hands of a Saiyan. There may be only six of us left, but it's enough. The saiyan race is not dead. Not by a long shot. We will restore our pride and avenge our fallen race."
PLANET EARTH- MOUNTAIN RANGE
Krillin ran as fast as his little legs could take him. Trying his hardest not to look back on the battle taking place behind him. He didn't want to leave his masters behind, but he had no choice. They were giving it their all just so that he could escape. He had to find help and fast. He continued pushing through the trees and brush as he ran deeper into the forests. He ran for what felt like forever until he finally saw light. He pushed out into the open and came upon a dirt road. He stopped briefly to catch his breath as he set both his hands on his knees and hunched over.
He heard a sound coming from down the road. It sounded like a car. Someone was coming. He pushed away his tiredness and made his way up to the edge of the road. As he saw the car near he raised his arms up and moved them from left to right. Trying to flag the driver down. "Hey!," he called out.
The car didn't seem to be slowing down. Krillin kept trying anyway. He couldn't give up. As the car neared it began to slow its speed. Stopping once it reached Krillin. Inside was Bulma.
"Hey, are you ok?," she asked the small boy.
"Please Miss you have to help me. My masters need help," pleaded Krillin.
Just then an explosion is heard coming from behind him. A bright light mixed with smoke rose over the treetops.
Bulma reached over to the passenger side door and unlocked it. "Hop in," she told him.
Krillin did what he was told and got onto the car. Pushing on the gas Bulma drove in the direction of the source of the sound.
Meanwhile with Kakarot and Prince Vegeta, the two stood as they waited for the smoke to clear. Seconds passed, and the smoke finally faded revealing Master Roshi and Gohan lying on the ground motionless.
"Good riddance," said Vegeta. Kakarot said nothing. Just as the Prince was about to turn away and take flight, the radar he had taken from Bulma began to go off. A dragonball was nearby. Reaching into his armor he pulled out the device and looked at the circular green screen. It beeped faster as the object was really close by.
Kakarot heard the sound and shifted his gaze over to his comrade. "What is that?"
"Nothing that concerns you." The young Prince began to make his way in the direction the radar was indicating to. It said it was here, but he didn't see anything.
Kakarot watched as Prince Vegeta continued to watch the screen on the strange device in his hand. He thought nothing of it. It was then something in the corner of his eye caught his attention. Looking over towards Gohan he saw something shining from the rays of the sun. He got curious as he began to make his way to it. Once he got close he saw an orange ball with what appeared like four stars inside rest next to the old man. Must've rolled out of his pocket. Bending down on one knee he reached for it. "What is this thing?," he asked no one in particular.
"Hand it over Kakarot." He heard Prince Vegeta say behind him.
The chibi saiyan stood turning around to face Vegeta. "What is this?," he demanded rather than ask.
"Nothing that you need to worry about. Just give it to me."
"Nice try. You're hiding something Prince. Now answer me."
"You're no one to be making demands low level runt. You know I'm stronger than you. I can take it back from you by force. So just make it easy on yourself and hand it over."
"You don't scare me Vegeta. I'm not as weak as you think. Besides I thought we were a team on this mission."
"There's no such thing as team between you and me. The only reason we're on this mission together is because Frieza made us. It's every saiyan for himself here."
"Then I'm not giving it to you. If you want it so badly then fight me for it," challenged Kakarot.
Kakarot and Prince Vegeta have come out victorious after a long fight against Master Roshi and Gohan. Now Kakarot suspects the Prince is hiding something from him regarding the Dragonballs. Can the two chibi saiyans come to a compromise or will they turn on each other? After discovering Bardock and King Vegeta alive Nappa and Raditz have learned the truth of what happened seven years ago. Saiyans unite as they begin to plan their revenge on the Cold Empire.
